‘How Boko Haram Threw Child Into Burning Vehicle’ – Marwa (retd)

0

Brig Gen Buba Marwa (retd.), Ex-military governor of Lagos State, says he was informed that Boko Haram fighters threw a child into a burning vehicle during their attack on Auno, Borno State, two weeks ago.

The hoodlums reportedly burnt to death at least 30 people.

Marwa, who is the Chairman, Presidential Advisory Committee for the Elimination of Drug Abuse, said this on Channels TV’s programme Sunrise Daily on Monday.

The ex-Borno State military governor said only persons under the influence of hard drugs could have done that.

He said, “Last week someone in Auno near Maiduguri mentioned to me that there was a woman in one of the buses burnt.

She threw her child out so that at least the child would survive, but the insurgents picked up the child and flung him back into the bus.

“What kind of depravity could that be unless somebody was completely out of his senses?

“So this is the root cause of most of our problems, including security, and must be tackled.”

Marwa said raids on terrorist hideouts had shown the insurgency was being fuelled mainly by hard drugs.

According to the retired general, Nigeria will have a lot of problems if it doesn’t tackle drug abuse effectively.

The committee, constituted in December 2018, submitted its report to the President in October 2019.

But the report has not been implemented as it is being reviewed by a second committee chaired by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha.

According to Marwa, the second committee is expected to meet later this week and he will be “surprised” if its implementation does not “start in another month.”

He said, “The drug control scourge in Nigeria unless it is tackled, we are finished.

“Whether it is Boko Haram, banditry, kidnapping, they (hoodlums) all use drugs.”

Among the recommendations of the committee is the declaration of emergency on drug abuse and the establishment of a new agency – the National Drug Control Commission.

When asked why the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency couldn’t be expanded, Marwa said the agency would be “moved to work in partnership” because it “faces supply reduction”.

Oyo State govt. cautions residents against destruction of public facilities

0

The Oyo State Government has cautioned residents of the state against the destruction of public facilities.

A statement issued on Sunday in Ibadan by the State Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism advised them to have attitudinal change on acts that are detrimental to growth and sustenance of public facilities.

The statement quoted Mr Kamil Akinlabi, the Chairman, Oyo State Road Maintenance Agency (OYSROMA), as giving the admonition, in Ibadan on Sunday.

Akinlabi also warned against the burning of tyres on the roads during protests, saying such weakens the road asphalt and reduce the lifespan of the roads.

He said that there were other peaceful and non-destructive means to protest instead of destroying public facilities in disguise.

OYSROMA boss further urged the general public to consider public facilities as their own and refrain from acts capable of destroying them.

Katsina state government has shut down a healing home where concoctions are made from writings within  Holy Qur’an in the state.

The order of closure was given by Governor Aminu Masari during an unscheduled stop-over at the traditional healing centre in Tashar Wali area of Dutsi Local Government Council of Katsina State.

Masari disclosed that he was stunned at the stench from some of the rooms while moving around the healing home.

Masari further disclosed that the room was not properly and hygienically kept.

He directed the state commissioner for local government and chieftaincy Affairs, Ya’u Gwojo-Gwojo to immediately summon the Head of Administration including the District Head of the affected LGA to ascertain the claims by the traditional healer, Sada Salihu that the local authorities were aware of his operations at the healing home.

Reacting to the development, the owner of the healing home said the odour coming from some rooms in the building are from concoctions he made from writings within the Holy Qur’an.

He said the potion is used to wash bodies to heal infirmities, while sometimes customers, mostly women are asked to drink it for healing purposes.

The Governor, however, insisted on a shutting down the facility which he said could leave unsuspecting clients with various ailments.

Married man exposed by a Nigerian widow who he tried to hook up with

0

Currently trending on social media is the story of how a married Nigerian man identified as Samuel Usoro, got exposed by a widow for being verbally abusive in her DM.

Identified as Obong-anwan Phoenix, she took to the Facebook platform to recount how Usoro had been sending her messages since 2014, expressing interest in her.

Despite ignoring him, he never stopped. However, things got pretty heated after he attempted to video-call her. She got annoyed and called him out on it.

Usoro, in turn, took to calling her all sorts of names, advising her to get married as she is getting old.

Part of her post reads: “What did I do wrong? Say I no answer am? So you don’t get attention from a woman and she is a Wh0re, she gives you the attention and still sleeps with you and she’s still a wh0re. I have never done this kind of expose but I am pissed. I am heartbroken at the same time. This man does not even know anything about me. He does not know I was married with children, he does not know I am a widow. All he sees is a single woman who is desperate and old enough to be married. Well, I will hate myself later for doing this. I am not shaming him for trying to be fresh with me, I am shaming him for the insults he gave me. Cos I haven’t been myself since then and this is my way of getting back at him. I don’t care what comes out of this, but for the meantime, let me give myself the justice.

Man who waited for 23 years to have a set of twin dies 7 months after their birth

0

The joy of every intending parent is to have the opportunity to welcome their own children and raise them up as they so desire.

While some are lucky to be blessed with children almost immediately they start trying, it isn’t the same for others who spend a long time waiting to be blessed with the joy of parenthood.

This was the case for a Nigerian man identified as Tony Abayomi Alder. He waited 23 whole years to become a father. Though the wait was long and difficult, it eventually happened for the missionary worker and his wife.

They welcomed a set of twin boys. However, things turned tragic when barely seven months after the twins were born, Alder passed on.

Entrepreneur Ibukun Awosik took to Instagram to break the tragic news. Ibukun who had nothing but kind words to describe the deceased with, revealed he died on February 23, 2020.

Read her farewell post:

“Tony Abayomi Alder. Who went to be with the Lord today 23/2/2020. A most faithful, most diligent, most dedicated, most trustworthy and loyal member of my team at Christian Missionary Fund for the past 25 years. You became my brother and my friend as we sought to build an institution to serve the Lord through the support of the missionaries across the length and breadth of Nigeria. That you will be missed is an understatement. I am grateful to God that, after waiting for 23 years, you witnessed the birth and enjoyed being a father to your twin boys, if only for 7 months. We truly love you but humbly submit to the will of God. May you forever be remembered for your cheerful service to the God you loved so much, your faithfulness as a husband to Toyin and your love of all around you.”
