There was pandemonium on Thursday following the mysterious disappearance of a middle aged man’s penis in Umuahia, the Abia State capital, ABN TV reports.

Trouble started when the victim identified as Papa Ejima raised the alarm around Oboro Street by Niger area of Umuahia, saying that his penis disappeared immediately after a Nigerien, a tigernut seller whose name is Ismahoo touched him in his manhood region.

This ABN TV gathered attracted the attention of other residents who threatened to kill the accuse person if he fails to return the manhood.

He appealed to them to spare him, saying his father who is in Niger will return the manhood.

“I came to this man’s shop to buy minerals, I’ve known him for five years now, I sat down at his shop drinking the mineral and noticed the size of his penis, jokingly I asked him what is this? He said its penis, I told him to marry two wives that his penis is big touching it and he said no. I asked for my change and left with his penis”, Ismahoo said.

It took the intervention of men of the Nigerian police who came to whisk the accused person away to escape mob action.

The immediate-past former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki, on Thursday, made his first court appearance after his release from four-year-long detention.

The ex-NSA was kept in detention for that period, in spite of the bail granted him on numerous occasions by various courts.

On Thursday, he appeared before Justice Ahmed Mohammed of the Federal High Court in Abuja for his trial on charges of money laundering and illegal possession of firearms instituted against him in 2015 by the Office of the Attorney-General of the Federation.

The ex-NSA who appeared more relaxed than he looked in his previous court appearances, opted to remain standing in the dock even when the judge offered that he should sit.

There are two separate sets of charges of alleged diversion of funds earmarked for the procurement of arms meant fighting Boko Haram in the North East pending against him at the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory in Abuja.

But none of the two other cases has come up since December 24, 2019, when he was released from the custody of the Department of State Services.

At Thursday’s proceedings before Justice Mohammed of the Federal High Court, Dasuki, through his lawyer, Olukayode Ariwoola, withdrew two separate applications which he filed in protest against his continuation of trial without being released from illegal custody.

In withdrawing the applications, on Thursday Ariwoola said they had been overtaken by the event of the release of his client.

Responding, the prosecuting counsel, Mr. Dipo Okpeseyi(SAN), said he had no objection to the request to have the applications withdrawn.

The judge subsequently struck out the applications and adjourned trial till March 11 and 12.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has advised Nigerians on steps to take if their Facebook account ever get hacked.

The Commission noted that these steps should be taken first before victims contact the them.

Before contacting the EFCC to report about your hacked Facebook account, ensure you’ve followed these steps: . Try changing your password

If you are unable to do that, inform your family and friends about the compromise on your account

Report the hacked account to Facebook (the EFCC cannot take down your Facebook account) by: asking your contacts to report the hacked profile or create a new profile and report the old account

By so doing, the scammer will not be able to defraud anyone using your profile.

PS: Be weary of people chatting you up about investing in businesses unknown to you. Always contact your family or friends in situations that seem suspicious.

The N4.9bn fraud trial of a former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, scheduled to continue on Thursday before the Federal High Court in Lagos was stalled due to the absence of one of the defence counsel, Clement Onwuenwuenor.

Fani-Kayode is being tried alongside a former Minister of State for Finance, Nenadi Usman; Danjuma Yusuf, and a firm, Joint Trust Dimensions Limited.

Onwuenwuenor, who is a lawyer to Yusuf and Joint Trust Dimensions Limited, wrote to the court to seek an adjournment.

He said he was before the Court of Appeal in Lagos in respect of three criminal cases.

As a result, Justice Rilwan Aikawa adjourned the case till February 24 and 25.

The defendants are facing 17 counts bordering on conspiracy, unlawful retention of proceeds of theft and money laundering.

Fani-Kayode, who was the Director of Publicity of ex-President Goodluck Jonathan’s presidential campaign organisation for the 2015 election, was accused of conspiring with the others to, directly and indirectly, retain various sums which the EFCC claimed they ought to have reasonably known were proceeds of crime.

In one of the counts, the defendants were accused of conspiring among themselves to “indirectly retain the sum of N1,500, 000,000.00 which sum you reasonably ought to have known forms part of the proceeds of an unlawful act to wit: stealing”.

The four were also accused of indirectly retaining N300m, N400m and N800m, all proceeds of corruption, according to the EFCC.

Fani-Kayode was accused of directly using parts of the money at various times, including an N250,650,000.00, which he allegedly used between March 20 and 25, 2015.

Fani-Kayode was also accused of making a cash transaction of N24m with one Olubode Oke, said to still be at large, on February 12, 2015 “to Paste Poster Co of 125, Lewis Street, Lagos Island.”

The duo were said to have made the transaction without going through any financial institution, an act the EFCC claimed was contrary to sections 1(a) and 16(d) of the Money Laundering (Prohibition) (Amendment) Act, 2012, and punishable under Section 16(2)(b) of the same Act.

The defendants pleaded not guilty.
