My Parents Couldn’t Afford DSTv, GOtv, Others — Ighalo

1

Manchester United striker, Odion Ighalo, has revealed how he used his lunch money to watch his boyhood club at viewing centers because his parents couldn’t afford to pay for sports channels.

The former Watford player was signed by Olé Gunnar Solskjaer from Shanghai Shenhua following a hip injury to Marcus Rashford.

Ighalo, who described his move to Old Trafford as a dream come true for him, said in a recent interview with Sky Sports that he is enjoying every moment at the Theatre of Dreams.

The 30-year-old also mentioned things he did to watch his idols played at Old Trafford and what playing for the club meant to him.

I know many footballers say that, when they sign for a team, this is my dream team. Respect to that but my own case was different,” he told Sky Sports.

“Anyone who knows me back from when I was young knows I and my siblings supported Man Utd, we would pay to go and watch Man Utd play.

“In Nigeria, you have to have sports channels to watch that but not everyone can afford it. My parents couldn’t afford that so you have to pay a viewing centre to watch that. We would pay to watch that.

“I grew up in Ajegunle, which is like a ghetto and it was very difficult there. When it would get to the weekend, everybody was excited because they wanted to watch Man Utd play.

“You start saving the money they would give you to go to school. You would eat at home and they would give you some pocket money to go to school and maybe eat lunch there. But you would be saving it bit by bit and when you get to the weekend, everybody is ready.

Buhari Govt, Most Wicked In Nigeria’s History — Pastor Oyedepo

0

The Presiding Bishop of Living Faith Church Worldwide also known as Winners Chapel, Bishop David Oyedepo, has described the regime of the President, Muhammadu Buhari, as the worst in the history of Nigeria.

Oyedepo said this on Sunday while delivering a sermon during the second service of the church at the Faith Tabernacle, Ota, Ogun State.

He said the hate speech bill being sponsored by Senator Sabi Abdullahi was the most ridiculous bill anyone could think of.

The cleric said while the government was seeking to criminalise hate speech, those who kill others at will were left to walk free.

Oyedepo said, “The government in this country is making a draconian law – hate speech. They said if you speak hatefully, you have committed murder. Out of someone who says I will kill you and the one who kills, who has committed a crime? I don’t understand which kind of animal farm we live in.

“I said stop stepping on my toes and you said that is hate speech but somebody kills and he is walking free on the streets. This is the most stupid and nonsensical ideal anybody can think of.

I said you are bad and you said that is a crime. Must I say you are good when you are bad?

In my view you are bad and you shouldn’t be a leader. I have the right to say so. As far as I am concerned, I am a true born and thoroughly-bred Nigerian, an intelligent one. In my view this is the worst thing that has happened to Nigeria — this government. It is the worst and in fact it is like a curse.

“I have been here for some time and I led the first prayer and fasting for Nigeria in 1979. I am not a baby in the affairs of Nigeria. This is the worst government, a government with no direction. Their days are numbered. I can tell you as a prophet that their days are numbered.”

Green Card System No More Available For You, US Tells Nigeria

0

The United States of America has once again tightened Visa restriction on Nigerians declaring that the Green Card system which makes it possible for citizens to live and work in America has been scrapped, according to reports.

Going by information gathered from a US agency on immigration, any Nigerian earning below N612, 000 or $1,700 per month would be denied Visa as they are henceforth considered ‘economic immigrants.’

The information also revealed that Nigerians seeking to travel to the US must provide compelling proofs of what can bring them back to the country while adjustment of status and overstaying would no longer be acceptable.

It warned that henceforth, failure to maintain status could lead to future ban on entry to America and that violation of visa status makes one ineligible to change to marriage, school, work, health, asylum among others.

“If you are visiting the US and find that you want to extend your stay beyond the date on your I-94, you cannot file anything again, you cannot fill Form 1-539, application to extend or change Non immigration status with USCIS”, the agency added.

APC Crisis: “I’m Now In Control”, Oshiomhole Remains Suspended – Deputy National Secretary Insists

0

Deputy National Secretary of the ruling All Progressives Congress APC, Chief Victor Giadom has defended the notice he sent out on Friday night, convening an emergency meeting of the National Executive Committee NEC of the party, insisting that the APC National Chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole remained suspended.

In a statement Sunday night, Giadom who signed off as the “Acting National Secretary” of the party faulted some of his colleagues on the National Working Committee NWC for approving the nomination of Arch. Waziri Bulama as acting National Secretary.

The statement reads; “My attention has been drawn to a Notice with the above caption dated March 7, 2020, and signed by Babatunde Ogala Esq., Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu and one Arc. Waziri Bulama which was aimed at discrediting the position of calling for an emergency National Executive Committee Meeting as Acting National Secretary. The Notice is not only aimed at creating mischief but it is aimed at misleading the esteemed members of the National Executive Committee and the general public at large.

“For the purpose of clarity and putting the issues in proper perspective, I wish to state that the decision to call for an emergency National Executive Committee Meeting for March 17, 2020, was taken in strict compliance with the Constitution of the Party. It is on record that the erstwhile National Chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiohmole has been suspended by a Court of Competent Jurisdiction. The two Deputy National Chairmen are no longer in office. The next most senior party officials should be the Secretary-General of the party. But as we all know, our erstwhile National Secretary in the person of Hon. Buni Mai Mala is now the Executive Governor of Yobe State. Hence, as the Acting National Secretary, I have the Constitutional Power to steer activities of our great party.

“By Article 14.4 (i) of the Constitution of our great party, the Deputy National Secretary is empowered to act as National Secretary in the absence of the National Secretary and all the actions taken since the emergence of Hon. Buni Mai Mala as Executive Governor of Yobe State are taken in my capacity as the acting National Secretary. By Article 14.3 (ii) of the Constitution of the party, being the acting National Secretary. I have the power to issue Notices of meetings of National Convention, National Executive Committee and the National Working Committee of the party. This is the power I exercised on the March 6 and March 7, 2020 calling for an emergency National Executive Committee of our great Party in line with Article 25 (B) (ii) of the Constitution of our great Party. “Article 25 (B) (1) of our constitution is very clear and it says, “The National Executive Committee of our great party shall meet every quarter of a year”. It is on record that the last National Executive Committee meeting was held on the 22 of November 2019 which is about four months to 17th of March fixed for the NEC meeting which itself is a breach of the party’s constitution.

“While Article 25 (B) (ii) provides that National Working Committee of our great party may summon an emergency National Executive Committee meeting at any time provided at least 7 days notice of the meeting is given to those entitled to attend, the Notice given on the March 6 2020 is in strict compliance with the provisions of the Constitution.

“I urge members of the National Working Committee to attend the meeting slated for 17th day of March 2020 as it will serve as an avenue to find solutions to the present state of quagmire the party had found itself in. The meeting will provide the way forward for the party, knowing that the National Executive Committee is the highest organ of the party after convention, as such, It cannot be shut out of its responsibilities as provided by the Constitution of our great Party.

“As for Architect Waziri Bulama who purportedly signed the document as the party’s National Secretary, he is not a member of the National Executive Committee or National Working Committee as his alleged Nomination as National Secretary of the Party has no legal footing because it fails to meet the requirements provided by virtue of Article 20(1)(a) of the party’s constitution. He is definitely not the National Secretary the party”, Giadom declared
