The Abia State Police command has denied allegation that it arrested two members of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) during the burial of Eze Israel Okwu Kanu and his wife, parents of Nnamdi Kanu, IPOB leader.

The Commissioner of Police in Abia, CP E. Ene Okon said there is no truth in such, maintaining that there was no indication that the two people arrested in Umuahia during the burial last week were members of IPOB.

The Osun State Police Command on Monday said a woman, Amudatu Sani, had been arrested with human parts in Ikire.

The Commissioner of Police, Johnson Kokumo, confirmed the arrest.

Speaking through the command’s spokesperson, Folasade Odoro, the commissioner said the suspect was arrested with dry human parts which she concealed in a sack.

He warned that the command would ensure a thorough investigation and ensure whoever found culpable face the full wrath of the law.

Kokumo said, “Following tip-off, one Amudatu Sani, was arrested by policemen in Ikire in possession of dry human left hand concealed in a sack.

“The command warns dealers in human parts to desist or face the full wrath of the law.”

Mr. Tony Iwelu, the Chief Security Officer, CSO, to the Minister for Transportation, Mr. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, died of electric shock from a shower hose in his hotel room in Kaduna on Monday February 17, 2020, at about 10:30 AM.

Iwelu had travelled with the Minister to Kaduna to felicitate with Governor Nasiru Elrufai on his birthday when the fatal shock happened.

An aide to the Minister confirmed the death under condition of anonymity as no official statement has been issued, Daily Trust reports.

The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has declared readiness to battle Herdsmen while calling on residents of South East to be prepared to defend themselves and land against further slaughter.

It decried the alleged involvement of bandits in what it described as “endless cycle of slaughter and mayhem especially in Biafraland,” particularly with recent killings in Delta State.

Speaking yesterday, IPOB Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful noted that Governor Ifeanyi Okowa’s brave condemnation of Nigerian Army’s involvement in the orgy of violence unleashed by five different terror groups against innocent populations was an indication that the killings were “premeditated slaughter of the defenseless.”

According to him: “IPOB’s message of freedom is the only way out of the present impasse in the fight against state sponsored Fulani terrorism in Nigeria.”

He recalled: “In 2014, before the murderous tendencies of Miyetti Allah was unleashed on hapless Nigerians, way before Fulani herdsmen, bandits, foreign fighters, ISWAP, Ansaru, Al-Qaeda in the Mahgreb descended on innocent citizens, our great leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu said it live on air during his prophetic message of 6th February, 2014 on Radio Biafra that: “Fulani herdsmen will be armed and encouraged to slaughter us with impunity and their masters will protect them.”

The Students’ Union President of the Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro, Ogun State, Adegboye Olatunji, who was arrested for alleged involvement in cultism, has been granted bail.

According to DailyPost, Olatunji was granted bail by a Magistrate Court sitting in Ifo area of Ogun State on Monday.

He was arrested with one Olanrewaji Taiwo last week in full regalia where they were allegedly initiating new intakes inside a bush at Gbogidi area of Ilaro.

While they were being paraded last week, Olatunji had claimed he was not a cultist and said he was charmed while on his way to church.

He said,

“I am not a cult member. I don’t know how I got into the bush. I was charmed, I don’t know how it happened.

“I was going to the church around 7 am on Sunday. I was going to a church in llaro. My Rector also goes to that church and he hates anything cultism.”

On Sunday, the Southwest Zone of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) threatened to embark on a statewide protest if Olatunji was not charged to court by the police.

NANS alleged that the police and the management of the polytechnic were making efforts to tarnish the image of the SUG President.

In a swift reaction, the Ogun Police Command warned the students not to embark on the planned protest as anybody caught would face the full weight of the law.

Meanwhile, Olatunji was docked yesterday by the police on a three-count charge.

He was, however, granted bail in the sum of N200,000, with two sureties in like sum as the case was adjourned till February 20.

Speaking on the issue, the Special Assistant to Governor Dapo Abiodun on Students Matters, Azeez Adeyemi, said the State Government waded into the matter to forestall breakdown of law and order.

Adeyemi, who also doubles as NANS National Public Relations Officer, said he met with the police and the students to resolve the matter amicably.

He said:

“The protest didn’t hold because the government of Dapo Abiodun cannot sit and watch the state being under fire over an issue that we can sit and resolve amicably.

“As a Special Assistant to the governor on students matters, I have to do the needful basically with the past experience I have in students’ struggle.

“We were able to convince the Nigerian students and give them reasons why we will need to return to the dialogue table and we could achieve the best of the result. And I think to the best of my knowledge, we have been able to achieve the best result we could achieve.

“We stand down the protest on the intervention of the state. Myself as the agent of the state government has to wade in and put out calls to both sides for us to have the continued peace we are enjoying in the state.

“I met with the students and as well met with CP. We had a robust discussion between the CP and myself and we both agree that we should suspend it till I come down to Eleweran to have a meeting with the management team.

“After the meeting, we were able to resolve that the boy should be charged to court; at least, that would guarantee his freedom pending the time the case would be tested in the court of law.”
