Lady sells car gift from boyfriend to sponsor her wedding with another lover

A Nigerian man identified as Dr Max Vayshia has taken to Twitter to reveal the ordeal of his friend who was recently betrayed by his girlfriend.

According to Max, his friend fell in love and began dating the girl since January 2017, sponsored the girl in school, bought her a Toyota Corolla and also rented a well-furnished apartment for her.

As time went on, she kept insisting on “no sex before marriage” and he adhered to her request. Later on, she travelled home to see her parents and after then, her lines were switched off and he didn’t hear from her again.

After a while, he heard she had not only gotten engaged, but she also sold out the car to sponsor the wedding with her newfound boo. She also leased out the apartment to another person.

The Ministry of Education in Abia state, has shutdown over fifty illegal schools in the State.

In a statement made available to ABN TV by the Commissioner of Education, Kanelechi C. K Nwangwa, said the closure of the schools is part of the efforts of the Governor of Abia State, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu, through the Ministry of Education to give the Abia Child Quality Education in the right environment.

According to the statement, the over fifty schools which have been shutdown have been discovered to be operating in residential buildings, warehouses, halls and in very unconducive environments.

“To save the situation and further serve the Abia Public and give the Abia Child Quality and right education, the Ministry of Education has decided to start publishing the names of the Closed Schools for the attention of members of the public. This will be a continuous process till all the Local Government Areas are covered. The Schools, their locations and other information are as follows :”

“You sore losers” Abia PDP berates APGA, APC over media trial of T. A Orji and Son on alleged N500bn loot

The Abia State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has taken a swipe at the former governorship candidate of All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) Alex Otti and APC in the state for allegedly engaging in media trial of former Governor of the State, Sen. T.A Orji and his son Chinedum Orji over N500bn corruption allegation against them.

The party in a statement signed by the Acting Publicity Secretary, Chief Mrs Love Ezema FCIPM mni said the recent sponsorship of protest in Umuahia and Abuja by the opposition shows they are sore losers and drowned in perpetual sorrow, unmitigated anger and clutching at anything including straws just to be seen to remain politically relevant.

“We have read the press releases by a faction of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in the state with copious reference to one Alex Otti on the unsubstantiated allegations making the rounds in the media to the effect that Senator T.A. Orji and his son, Rt Hon Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji, both of whom are respected leaders of our great Party, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), appropriated “over N500bn belonging to Abia State” to themselves, as well as the publication by an unnamed publicity secretary of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Abia State, and wish to state that the press statements and subsequent funding of a protest in Umuahia and Abuja by these sore losers is a confirmation of our long held fears that APGA and APC in Abia State are political parties drowned in perpetual sorrow, unmitigated anger and clutching at anything including straws just to be seen to remain politically relevant. It is now clear that these Parties will not rest until they have sown chaos on our peaceful State.

“If not, one would have wondered how anyone in their right senses would believe such spurious allegations that have been in the public domain since 2015 and have only become an instrument of witch hunt and blackmail in the hands of cowardly political rivals and projected by those Abians who have been serially rejected both at the polls and the courts” she said.

She also stated that Sen. Orji and his son, Speaker Chinedum Orji have had robust careers in their different endeavors, saying the allegations against them have been there since 2015.

“For the avoidance of doubt, while Senator T.A. Orji was a career civil servant who served meritoriously, he was also the State’s Chief of Staff before eventually becoming Governor. His son, Rt Hon Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji, apart from being a qualified engineer, has been in private business long before his father was elected Governor as one of his companies was duly registered since 2001. He won elections twice to represent his constituency and rose to become the majority leader and currently the Speaker of Abia State House of Assembly.

“It is laughable that in this day and time, unscrupulous politicians with obvious dirty backgrounds are the ones engaging in media trial of others who are better than them in all ramifications. For instance, APC fielded a Senatorial candidate who was undergoing court trial for corruption and has long been convicted with the senatorial seat now in jeopardy with millions of Abians left without a representative. Similarly, the APGA faction calling for protest fielded a governorship candidate in 2019 who has been under investigation by EFCC since 2014 and indeed is a state witness in an ongoing corruption trial in court.

“We are also aware that neither Senator T.A. Orji nor the Speaker, Enyinnaya Orji, is currently under trial in any court on corruption charges and, indeed, the allegations against them are the same recycled stories dating back to 2015 and for which they have made themselves available to relevant agencies to clear their names. When did it become the law or convention for people to vacate office when allegations are made against them? As Senate President, Bukola Saraki successfully defended charges against him at the courts. Similarly, other APC and APGA legislators never resigned from office when they were accused.
“We need not remind Alex Otti and his cohorts in APC traveling this path of judicial infamy that our laws clearly states that every citizen remains innocent until proven otherwise in a competent court of law. The continued reference of Otti to the elections he lost both at the polls and at the courts is a pointer to what is sorrowing him. Abians are also aware of how he has kept on lampooning the judiciary for his losses despite pursuing his cases to the highest court of the land. This is why he is actively plotting to destabilize the state by attempting to circumvent the judicial process in a matter that has remained under investigation since 2015. This is how political vampires behave and are not surprised because his APGA faction is peopled by such unscrupulous characters.

“We urge all Abians to ignore the rants and machinations of these sore losers and join hands with the government to rapidly develop our state. We are proud of the good work being done by our elected officials at state and national levels, all of who have continued to focus on the issues that are important to the people of the state. We will not accept attempts by sore election losers to truncate the mandate of the people of the state through orchestrated media trial and sponsorship of baseless protests against those elected to work for the people of the state.

“We restate our strong belief in the ability of Senator T.A. Orji and Rt Hon Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji to defend themselves as the petitions against them are not only maliciously contrived but also lacking in any substance. At the appropriate time, those behind these evil plots against the people of Abia State and the media trial will be exposed” she concluded.

N2.5 Billion NBC Scandal: Pinnacle Communications Boss, Omoluwa Slumps, Dies

Lucky Omoluwa, chairman of Pinnacle Communications, is dead.

Omoluwa, who is being probed over a N2.5 billion alleged fraud case involving the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), died at the National Hospital in Abuja on Tuesday.

Omoluwa first fell ill on Saturday and was admitted at a hospital.

He was said to have been discharged after showing signs of improvement. The deceased reportedly resumed work on Monday but suffered a relapse on Tuesday morning.

Omoluwa reportedly died while undergoing treatment.

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) is prosecuting Omoluwa alongside Ishaq Kawu, director-general of the NBC, and Dipo Onifade, chief operating officer of Pinnacle Communications.

They anti-graft agency accused the trio standing trial for alleged abuse of office and money laundering of misappropriating N2.5 billion in the Digital Switch-Over (DSO) programme.

The anti-graft agency had demanded Kawu’s suspension pending the outcome of the trial.

Kawu was suspended last week on the directive of President Muhammadu Buhari.

An Assistant Director attached to the State House, Abuja, Laetitia Naankang Dagan, has been killed by yet-to-be-identified assailants.

Dagan was said to have been killed in her apartment in Galadimawa, Abuja on Monday evening shortly after she returned from work.

She was said to have left her office in the Presidential Villa, Abuja about 8pm while the incident reportedly happened about 11pm.

A State House statement confirmed the development, quoting the Permanent Secretary, Jalal Arabi, as mourning the deceased.

Arabi was further quoted as telling her parents during a condolence visit that “the Police will fish out the killers of Laetitia and the law will take its course.”

President Muhammadu Buhari has poured encomium on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC for its sustained war against graft, economic and financial crimes which he said has earned the government accolades on the international scene.
 
The President was speaking on Tuesday, February 18, 2020 at the Passing Out Parade of the EFCC, Detective Inspectors Course 5 Cadets from the Nigeria Defence Academy, NDA, Kaduna.

According to the President, “Our fight against corruption is being recognized by the international community as real and effective. The face of the country abroad is also changing as the international community is beginning to see Nigeria making substantial progress in the enthronement of transparency, accountability and good governance.”
 
The President attributed the success story to the efforts of the EFCC and other anti-grafts agencies in the country.
 
He also expressed happiness in the progress that the Commission has made in areas of recruitment and training of cadet officers who have been deployed to the zonal offices across the country.
 
The President however reiterated his readiness to ensure that System Reforms are deepened, emphasizing that “there will be no hiding place for corrupt persons and proceeds of corruption.”
 
“This Administration, right from the inception, aligned with the Open Governance Partnership (OGP) and Global Forum for Asset Recovery in addition to existing commitments to AU and ECOWAS conventions against corruption, and the United Nations Convention Against Corruption (UNCAC)”, he said.
 
Speaking on the reforms that the government have put in place over the last two years, the President listed the GIFMIS, IPPIS, Single Treasury Account, and Bank Verification Number, BVN.
 
In his own remarks, the acting Chairman of the EFCC, Ibrahim Magu, thanked President Buhari for his support and commitment to the war against corruption in Nigeria which has earned him the title “African Anti-corruption Champion”.
 
He said “You have been consistent and tenacious to your principle of non-interference in our work, and you have supported us through measures that strengthened the EFCC. This is one of the secrets of our successes.”
 
He further stated that the EFCC, on its part, is currently developing its Statement of Strategy for 2020 to 2025, which will be in line with the five pillars of National Anti-corruption Strategy which are Prevention; Public Engagement; Ethical Reorientation; Institutional Strengthening of Anti Corruption Agencies; Enforcement, Recovery and Management of the Proceeds of Corruption as reflected in the Federal Government’s Economic Recovery and Growth Plan (ERGP 2017 – 2020).
 
The anti-corruption Czar said the Commission boasts of one of the best investigative laboratories in West Africa which has aided investigators and prosecutors in achieving accuracy and deployment of incontrovertible evidence in courts. This, he said, was done with the support of Commission’s development partners. Additionally the Polygraph services were boosted with more trained professionals and services were extended to other Law Enforcement Agencies in Nigeria.
 
Magu rallied the support of all Nigerians saying “Tackling corruption is a clarion call, given that corruption is a huge burden to the nation. It is worse than Cancer, Ebola Virus, Coronavirus and all other deadly diseases put together. Corruption has spread its cancerous effects to all facets of our lives. Insecurity, poverty, unemployment, falling standards of education, weak access to affordable health care, failing infrastructure, questioned integrity of the electoral process, poor business environment and lower GDP growth to mention a few, are all linked to corruption.”
 
The Acting Chairman mentioned effective communication as one tool that the EFCC has deployed in both the fight against corruption and its prevention. He then used the opportunity to announce that the EFCC Radio station will soon take off.
 
At the ceremony, five categories of award were presented to cadet officers who performed creditably well. The recipients of the awards were: Agakwu Francis Ikani won the Presidential award for the Overall Best Cadet and Abubakar Salihu Danasabe won the Chief of Defence Staff Award as second best in Economic and Financial Crimes Commission core subjects and military subjects.
 
Other awardees include: Aminu Almu who won Economic and Financial Crimes Commission Chairman’s Award for Best Cadet in Legal Studies; Commandant EFCC Academy Award for Best Cadet in Financial Studies went to Adeola Augustine as Ibrahim Mohammed won the Commandant, NDA Award for Command and Leadership.
 
A total of 281 Detective Inspector Cadet Officers who have been undergoing a one-year training programme at the Nigeria Defence Academy, NDA, graduated today.

A prominent group, Coalition of Southeast Youth Leaders (COSEYL), on Tuesday, February 18, cautioned protesters in Abuja and Umuahia over their planned protest against former governor of Abia State and Senator, Theodore Orji, and his son, Chinedum Orji, the Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly to cease and desist from doing so.

The group made this known in a statement signed by its President, Mr Goodluck lbem and Secretary General respectively and available to media houses in Tuesday.

COSEYL in its statement urged the people not to allow themselves to be used as agents to destabilize the Democratic process in the country adding that all the allegations levelled against Senator T. A. Orji and his son, Engr. Chinedum, are false, baseless and unfounded.

The statement read in parts; “Our attention has been drawn to a protest on Wednesday 19 February,2020 by the opposition in Abia state against our distinguish Senator Theodore Ahamefula Orji and his family over a baseless and unfounded allegations by some disgruntled opposition elements who wants to take advantage of our gullible youths and women to cause disaffection and destroy the peace and tranquility been enjoyed by Abians and its residents”

“It is very unfortunate that some people believe the drugs sold to them by some miscreants and haters of Abia to be true and factual. People should learn to think and reason when they read some stories.
It is not every story that you swallow line and sinker. Only a brainless individual will believe such falsehood by Ochendo Global enemies.

“These protesters and their sponsors are anti-democratic forces and enemies of Ndigbo and we will flush them out from Abia state.”

COSEYL further added that; “Former Senate President of the 8th Senate, Senator Bukola Saraki was accused of corruption but when he’s matter came to court, the took their time to look into the matter and the court discovered that he was falsely accused of all those wrongdoings.

“He was discharged and acquitted. It is only the court that has the constitutional rights to trail any matter or case. The media is not the court. Senator T. A. Orji and his family are innocent of all these allegations.

“The petitioners falsely accused him of embezzling all the allocation sent to Abia state. In their petition, they told the EFCC that he never paid salaries, pension and did not perform any government function (s).

“Only misfits will write such a petition. We call on those who have been brainwashed by these criminal group called ‘Save Nigeria Group’ to immediately jettison the protesters and go about their normal business.”

We Never Arrested IPOB Members During Nnamdi Kanu’s Parents’ Burial – Abia Police

The Abia State Police command has denied allegation that it arrested two members of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) during the burial of Eze Israel Okwu Kanu and his wife, parents of Nnamdi Kanu, IPOB leader.

The Commissioner of Police in Abia, CP E. Ene Okon said there is no truth in such, maintaining that there was no indication that the two people arrested in Umuahia during the burial last week were members of IPOB.

The commissioner alleged that the two people arrested by the command were armed with pistol and other dangerous weapons.

In an interview with ABN TV on Monday, He said “The police only arrested two persons and it was not even near Afara, it was down there, those two persons were seen with guns, weapon two of them with pistol and everything, and they did not wear anycloth like IPOB,no nothing, nothing to show of IPOB and Emmanuel Kanu said yes he heard that, those are not IPOB members.

“So in essence police did not arrest anybody IPOB, because there through-out we did not know who was IPOB, No body wore IPOB uniform, No body carry BIAFRA flag, no body carry IPOB signal, all that we know they were mourners and we were just standing. What ever they were doing their thing, police were there full and they were doing their thing, we never touched anybody, although some of them were dancing some were taking Indian herm, all these small, small boys, police was just laughing because the police did not want to do anything that will truncate the peace that we maintained. We did not arrest any IPOB member”

Cultism: Ilaro poly SUG President granted bail

The Students’ Union President of the Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro, Ogun State, Adegboye Olatunji, who was arrested for alleged involvement in cultism, has been granted bail.

According to DailyPost, Olatunji was granted bail by a Magistrate Court sitting in Ifo area of Ogun State on Monday.

He was arrested with one Olanrewaji Taiwo last week in full regalia where they were allegedly initiating new intakes inside a bush at Gbogidi area of Ilaro.

While they were being paraded last week, Olatunji had claimed he was not a cultist and said he was charmed while on his way to church.

He said,

“I am not a cult member. I don’t know how I got into the bush. I was charmed, I don’t know how it happened.

“I was going to the church around 7 am on Sunday. I was going to a church in llaro. My Rector also goes to that church and he hates anything cultism.”

On Sunday, the Southwest Zone of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) threatened to embark on a statewide protest if Olatunji was not charged to court by the police.

NANS alleged that the police and the management of the polytechnic were making efforts to tarnish the image of the SUG President.

In a swift reaction, the Ogun Police Command warned the students not to embark on the planned protest as anybody caught would face the full weight of the law.

Meanwhile, Olatunji was docked yesterday by the police on a three-count charge.

He was, however, granted bail in the sum of N200,000, with two sureties in like sum as the case was adjourned till February 20.

Speaking on the issue, the Special Assistant to Governor Dapo Abiodun on Students Matters, Azeez Adeyemi, said the State Government waded into the matter to forestall breakdown of law and order.

Adeyemi, who also doubles as NANS National Public Relations Officer, said he met with the police and the students to resolve the matter amicably.

He said:

“The protest didn’t hold because the government of Dapo Abiodun cannot sit and watch the state being under fire over an issue that we can sit and resolve amicably.

“As a Special Assistant to the governor on students matters, I have to do the needful basically with the past experience I have in students’ struggle.

“We were able to convince the Nigerian students and give them reasons why we will need to return to the dialogue table and we could achieve the best of the result. And I think to the best of my knowledge, we have been able to achieve the best result we could achieve.

“We stand down the protest on the intervention of the state. Myself as the agent of the state government has to wade in and put out calls to both sides for us to have the continued peace we are enjoying in the state.

“I met with the students and as well met with CP. We had a robust discussion between the CP and myself and we both agree that we should suspend it till I come down to Eleweran to have a meeting with the management team.

“After the meeting, we were able to resolve that the boy should be charged to court; at least, that would guarantee his freedom pending the time the case would be tested in the court of law.”
