BREAKING: Oshiomhole’s Seat Still Remain Vacant – APC Govs Insist

0

The conflicting legal process surrounding the suspension of Comrade Adams Oshiomhole as national chairman, notwithstanding, Governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), under the aegis of Progressives Governors Forum (PGF), on Friday, called on the National Executive Council (NEC) to save the party by filling all existing vacant national positions,

They particularly said there is need to fill vacuum created by suspension of the national chairman of the party, Adams Oshiomhole.

The Director General, Progressives Governors Forum (PGF), Salihu Lukman, who said this  in a statement made available to ABN TV on Friday, insisted that the seat of APC national chairman remains vacant until the subsisting court order is vacated, hence the need by NEC to appoint a replacement in acting capacity pending the convocation of a national convention.

To fill vacant national positions, he suggested that pending the settlement of all the cases around Comrade Oshiomhole’s membership, there is the need to invoke provisions of Article 17 (vi) which provides that in the event of a vacancy, “the relevant Party organ shall appoint another person to act in his place pending ratification by the National Convention or Congress.”

The relevant party organ in this case, he said, may have to be the National Executive Committee (NEC).

Given all the vacancies about six so far, National Chairman, Deputy National Chairman (South), Deputy National Chairman (North), National Vice Chairman (North West), National Secretary and National Auditor, who convene the NEC?

“This is where the organising, consultation and negotiating capacity of our leaders will be tested. Combinations of majority of the remaining members of the NWC in consultation with President Buhari, Governors, and other party leaders who are leading members of the National Caucus can resolve all these issues and convene the NEC to appoint an Acting National Chairman.

“With the appointment of an Acting National Chairman, the next would be to seek to invoke provisions of Article 25 A(i) of the APC constitution, which stipulate that the “National Convention of the Party shall be held once in Two (2) years at a date, venue and time to be recommended by the National Working Committee and approved by the National Executive Committee subject to the giving of statutory notice to Independent National Electoral Commission and at least fourteen (14) days notice given to members eligible to attend.

“Already, this is the second year since the last Convention in 2018 where Comrade Oshiomhole-led NWC was elected. What this means is that with or without our current challenges we are actually due for a National Convention,” Lukman stated.

He said the reality is that APC is faced with a big problem whereby none of its organs are meeting as provided by the constitution.

“In fact, we are even not sure who our members are. There is therefore the urgent need to resume the process of party building with confirmation of our members as well as recruiting new members. This has to be followed with processes of leadership reformation through Wards, Local Governments and States Congresses to National Convention.

“Once a NEC is convened, all these processes should therefore be activated. The other issue is the question of what are the other steps or decisions needed to ensure the emergence a new atmosphere in the party that will promote reconciliation and re-orient the party to regain its political profile as a party commanding mass appeal.

“Part of the requirement may have to include a decision by the NEC to set aside all cases of disciplinary decisions taken by the party organs at different level in the last two years. This is important in order to basically promote reconciliation based on a strategy to ensure internal harmony”, he said.

Lukman expressed resentment over disunity among members of the National Working Committee (NWC), which is an administrative organ.

“Even the NWC we are told that it is not united, so much that it could take decision on January 14, 2020 and the announcement of its decision will only ‘coincidentally’ come on March 4, 2020 shortly after Justice Senchi issued the order for interlocutory injunction.

“This is all because members of the Comrade Oshiomhole-led NWC have constituted themselves into an unaccountable assembly with a thuggish temperament, which seek to browbeat every member of the party especially aspiring candidates into submission.

“Sadly, some accounts of the management of the 2019 election process around selection of candidates produced some discomforting reports of corrupt practices of members of the Comrade Oshiomhole-led NWC.

“These are accounts that suggested that the process of candidates’ selection within the party is turned to stock broking in which the main stock is the party’s nomination to contest any of the elective positions.

“Interestingly, now all the issues around the current challenges are being reduced to contestation for 2023 almost in a way that suggest may be the ‘stocks’ for 2023 have already been sold and therefore anyone that is complaining is doing so based on that prism. It is simply a case of judging the dynamics and other standpoints based on the 2023 mindset that appeared to be informed by expectations of projected ‘stock broking’ transactions”.

Alleging the ineptitudeness of the NWC under Oshiomhole, he said “not even a meeting of any of the superior organs of the party was convened to review the 2019 elections. Many of the Comrade Oshiomhole’s supporters have cited so-called reform initiatives and issues of discipline in the party as the reasons why he is facing opposition from some leaders in the party.

According to the Director General, the court injunction against Oshiomhole parading himself as National Chairman is a big opportunity for healing process and rebuilding of the party.

He said the healing process became necessary because presently APC is in an embarrassing situation in which almost all the structures of the party have been frozen at all levels.

He asked leaders of the party to avail themselves of the opportunity to reunite aggrieved members, mend broken fences and return APC back to winning ways.

Meanwhile, Mr Oshiomhole had earlier on Wednesday accused some APC governors and a minister for his travails.

BIAFRA: Nnamdi Kanu To Lead 1million Man March In US

0

The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, on Friday, disclosed that its leader, Nnamdi Kanu will lead a one-million-man march to protest against the killing of Christians in Nigeria.

The match by Kanu and members of IPOB will take place on the 20th of June in Washington DC, Maryland, and Virginia.

IPOB, in a statement on Friday by its Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, stated that the march would target on the liberation of victims of neo-colonial subjugation in Nigeria.
It said the US authorities and law enforcement agencies had already granted permission for “this once in a lifetime march” to draw global attention to the unspeakable human misery and rivers of blood flowing throughout Biafraland and Nigeria at large.

According to the statement “Our great leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and his entourage will lead this march of Biafrans, the forcefully dispossessed, all victims of Fulani religious persecution, the enslaved and oppressed minorities in Northern Nigeria, friends of Biafra and lovers of freedom all over the world on the match towards the liberation of victims of neo-colonial subjugation in Nigeria on that fateful day near Capitol Hill Washington USA.

“We are delighted to announce that we have sought and have been granted relevant permits by the various US state and federal law enforcement agencies in Washington DC, Maryland and Virginia as millions of Biafrans and non-Biafran persecuted Christian communities from across the globe are expected to storm Washington DC for this once in a lifetime march to draw global attention to the unspeakable human misery and rivers of blood flowing throughout Biafraland and Nigeria at large.

“IPOB’s determination to set free all captives trapped in the British created Zoo is unwavering and relentless. We have reached many and are continuing to reach out to all representatives, groups and associations of marginalised, oppressed and subdued communities across Nigeria domiciled in the USA to be part of subdued communities across Nigeria domiciled in the USA to be part of this historic event.

“This unique event in Washington DC will bring home to politicians and policymakers in Capitol Hill the true state of deplorable human rights abuses, lawlessness and premeditated genocide of the Abba Kyari led regime of Fulani cabals in Nigeria ruling in the name of the late Buhari.

“The reign of Fulani terrorism, despotism, impunity, genocide against Judeo-Christian ethnic groups and judicial rascality of the Supreme Court of Nigeria will lay bare for the American audience to fully grasp the level of evil going on in Nigeria.

“It would also afford IPOB an opportunity to demonstrate our unsurpassed global might and prove to the entire world how serious, determined and focus we are towards the enthronement of universal freedom, democracy and rule of law for all not just for Biafrans alone.

“Only after this march will the world finally appreciate the level of human misery and pain inflicted by cattle herding, uneducable and violent minority from the core Sharia Arewa North on the rest of the populations unfortunate enough to find themselves trapped in the British Colonial Experiment (BCE) gone wrong called Nigeria.

Those Who Came On Platform Of Change Worse Than Those They Changed — Abaribe

0
Senate Minority Leader, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, has said Nigerians were currently going through pains, cautioning that the country needed to move in a different direction away from its present path.

The minority leader spoke on Thursday night at the Government House in Port Harcourt during a condolence visit by the Senate Minority Caucus to the state governor, Nyesom Wike, over the passage of his uncle, the late Charles Wike.

Abaribe said, “We understand the difficulty every Nigerian is feeling today. We understand the pains most Nigerians are going through today. We understand that those who came on the platform of change have ended up even being worse than those that they came to change.

“The disappointment; the disillusionment that most Nigerians are feeling today is our responsibility to bring to the fore in our public debate.

“We have been keeping up with our ideals. Democracy is difficult for some people to really fathom. I think that is why the government at the centre is finding it really difficult.

“You cannot have democracy without having democrats. Only democrats can give you democracy. Autocrats can never give you democracy. What autocrats want at every time is to say that their word is the law.”

All 3 Suspected Coronavirus Cases In Lagos Test Negative

0
The three suspected cases of coronavirus infection (COVID-19) isolated in Lagos on Thursday have tested negative to the disease.

The Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Prof Akin Abayomi, who disclosed this on Friday, said all three have been discharged.

In a tweet, Abayomi said: “All the three #COVID19 suspected cases; travellers from France, England and China whose samples were collected yesterday for analysis have tested negative and they have been discharged.”

Abayomi had, on Thursday, disclosed that the three identified cases were being tested in the Lagos isolation centre in Yaba.

He said one of those involved is a Nigerian who returned from France four days ago, another came in from the United Kingdom while the third was from China.

Earlier, at a press conference in Abuja, the Minister of Health, Dr Osagie Ehanire, confirmed that two of the three suspected cases were negative.

Ehanire, who did not give details, however noted that the result of the third case was pending and would be released as soon as it was ready.

In an update during the briefing, the Minister maintained that Nigeria had only one confirmed case.

He said Nigerians should stop profiling suspected cases.

“As of the three cases, one of them, we are expecting the result; it takes some hours for the results to come out. We must go away from the idea of focusing on Chinese or any particular nationality because a case that entered Nigeria, which is the index case is not Chinese.

“If we are profiling and focusing on the wrong areas, we risk losing the right thinking.”

The minister said the government had strengthened screening of passengers at the country’s entry-points, and soon, passengers departing the country will be screened too.

A staff member working at the US technology giant’s Marina One office in Singapore was on Friday diagnosed with COVID-19, a spokesman told AFP.

The infected employee had also visited Facebook’s London offices between February 24 and 26.

The company said it was getting in touch with individuals who had direct contact with the person infected, and had asked them to self-isolate and monitor for any potential symptoms.

Facebook has already closed its Shanghai office until further notice, while employees in Italy and South Korea have been encouraged to work from home.

In addition, staff in the San Francisco Bay area have been “strongly recommended” to work from home starting from Friday.

Nigerian Pastor Jailed For 34 Years For Raping, Impregnating Children In UK

0

An evangelical pastor was jailed for 34 years in Britain on Friday, after he was convicted of a catalogue of rape and sexual abuse against children and adults over two decades.

A judge said self-styled prophet Michael Oluronbi carried out “one of the worst cases of sexual abuse” against children to come to court.

Oluronbi, 60, who is originally from Nigeria, was convicted of 15 counts of rape, seven counts of indecent assault and two counts of sexual assault at a trial that ended in January.

The court was told there were at least 88 separate occasions on which he raped his victims, who are now adults.

Some offences were carried out after he convinced some of his victims to take part in “spiritual bathing”, which he said would “cleanse” them of evil spirits.

Birmingham Crown Court in central England was told some of his young female victims became pregnant several times.

But Oluronbi, a trained pharmacist, took them to abortion clinics to hide his crimes.

The minister’s wife, Juliana, 58, was jailed for 11 years after being found guilty of three charges of aiding and abetting rape after helping arrange some of the terminations.

Judge Sarah Buckingham called Oluronbi “arrogant, selfish and vain”, adding: “You abused your position of trust.

“They (his victims) trusted you like God…. In my judgment, your offending must be one of the worst cases of sexual abuse of multiple children to come before the courts.”

Oluronbi, described by his victims as “controlling”, was arrested when one of those he abused came forward. He was detained by police last year at Birmingham airport on his way to Nigeria.

When asked about the offences, which took place in Birmingham and London dating back to the 1980s, the court was told he said: “The devil made me do it.”

The court was told Oluronbi was linked to a Birmingham branch of the Cherubim and Seraphim Church, which was founded in Nigeria.

He set up a splinter group separate from the church and at another address for about 40 adults and children, where he began his practice of “spiritual bathing”, jurors heard.

Evangelical churches are hugely popular in Nigeria, predominately in the Christian south.
