The governor of Lagos, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has set up a N2 billion relief fund for victims of the recent explosion in the state.
He made the announcement while addressing journalists at the scene of the explosion on Monday.
The incident which happened at Soba community in Abule Ado area of the state led to the loss of lives and property.

The General Overseer, Grace Impacts Church, Berger, Bariga, Lagos, Rev. Dr. Eseme Unen and his wife, Pastor Esther, last week, dedicated their triplets, a boy and two girls to God at a special thanksgiving service with family, friends, church members and well wishers in attendance.
The couple had waited 18 years after the birth of their first child, a girl, who is an undergraduate, before God blessed the family with these bundles of joy.
Speaking about her experience, the elated mother recalled how she prayed, fasted and sowed seed for the fruit of the womb, before God at His own appointed time answered the family.
She said there were low moments, when she had to grapple with the reality of failed expectations, but was thankful God saw them through such periods.
She revealed other challenges she faced during the pregnancy, and how she spent six months in the hospital receiving treatment before the delivery.
Esther advised expectant couples to be patient, focus on God and shun the temptation to run to different churches looking for solution.
The husband thanked God for granting them the grace to be steadfast and not bow before strange altars, during their trying period.
He said: “It got to a point it seemed we were giving up. But we persevered and God answered us.” The General Overseer said they fortified themselves against external pressure, which helped them to be steadfast in the face of challenges.

A 28-year old man has told police that he killed his Facebook friend because he was insistent on having anal sex with him. The incident reportedly happened in Nanka, Orumba North council of Anambra State.
Angus Chukwebuka Nwankwo and a relative Chidiebere Omeyi were among over 100 suspects paraded weekend at the police headquarters in Amawbia, Awka South South Local Government Area of the state.
Nwankwo said he met the deceased on Facebook where they agreed to meet in Nanka for homosexual acts.
He said, “We met on Facebook and he asked if I could engage in homosexual acts with him and I said no, but after much pressure I succumbed. He promised to give me N20,000 if I had sex with him. As soon as he came in, I asked for the money and he said he would give me the money after he satified the urge, which brought him all the way from Imo State.
“I insisted he must pay me the money he promised. That was how a fight started. He was the first to hit me with a stick and I fell down. My younger brother who was with me held him down while I picked up the stick and hit him and he died.”
The suspect said he and his brother reported the incident to a vigilante group who took them to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) in Nanka.
The Senior Pastor of Dunamis International Gospel Centre, Dr. Paul Enenche on Sunday, led his congregation in a torrential prayer against the outbreak of COVID-19, otherwise known as corona virus.
Leading his congregation in a brutal prayer against deadly virus, Pastor Enenche said its tenure would expire within 21 days.
He said, “We want to agree together to curse the demon of coronavirus officially. He (God) said whatever we bound on earth is bound in heaven and whatever we lose on earth is lose in heaven, so we want officially bound the virus called corona.
“I’m sure Ebola must have told corona not to come to Nigeria, this is because when it came, they boiled it.
“I heard that there are countries today where nobody is going to any church. That devil is a bastard. Like in Italy, I heard there is a total lockdown. Over 900 catholic churches and other denominations are under lock and keys due to the plague.
“People have been barred from traveling in and out of their countries because of the virus. That means if people have any emergency medical case, they can’t go.
“President Donald Trump of America declared today as fasting and prayer against corona virus and we are also declaring enough is enough for that devil. His tenure has expired. For every child of God here and every child of God watching me from all over the world, we don’t belong to any situation of plague.

Six Nigerian soldiers were killed in an ambush by Boko Haram terrorists in the restive northeast on Sunday, military sources told AFP.
The terrorists opened fire on an army convoy near the village of Mayanti, near the border with Cameroon, in an area plagued by attacks by insurgents.
“We have lost six soldiers in an ambush by Boko Haram terrorists,” one officer told AFP.
A second source, giving the same toll, said the military convoy had been on its way to the nearby town of Banki when they were targeted by heavy gunfire and rocket-propelled grenades.
The decade-long terrorists’ uprising has killed 36,000 people and displaced around two million from their homes in northeast Nigeria.
The United Nations has complained of a surge in violence in the conflict zone in recent weeks.
Anger has been growing among local residents about the army’s failure to stem the attacks.
The military has repeatedly claimed that the insurgency has largely been defeated but attacks against civilians and soldiers continue on a near-daily basis.
The conflict has spread to neighbouring Niger, Chad, and Cameroon, prompting a regional coalition to fight the insurgents.
The jihadists fighting in northeast Nigeria have split into rival groups with one loyal to longtime Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau and another affiliated to the Islamic State group.

The South African government on Sunday declared coronavirus a national emergency, ABN TV reports.
To this end, the authorities have ordered the closure of all public schools from Wednesday, March 18, 2020 till the end of Easter holidays.
This is after about 61 suspected cases of coronavirus have been reported in the country.
The government has also announced a travel ban on UK, Italy and US with immediate effect.
The gathering of any number exceeding 100 has also been banned.
Rev. Sr Henrietta Alokha, the Principal of Bethlehem Girls College reportedly died in the pipeline explosion which happened in Abule Ado community of Lagos State.
According to reports, the deceased who worked hard to rescue some students trapped in the boarding school under her care, died after the roof of the educational facility fell on her.
The late principal is the younger sister of WB Anselm Alokha.

An Umuahia based comedian, Onyendilefu Chinagorom popularly known as LANDLORD THE COMEDIAN has shocked the world when he took his newly born baby, Success Chiziterem Destiny to church with a tractor on Sunday, March 15, 2020.
In a chat with ABN TV on Sunday, the comedian said the reason he did that is to exhibit his creativity in the business of entertainment in a way that suits him and also encourage people to use whatever ride they have to church.

The pipeline explosion in Lagos created a huge vibration that caused buildings to collapse.
Though the number of casualties recorded is not clear yet but there’s been a count from resident around the area saying 4 people died as a result of the explosions and over 15 buildings collapsed due to the heavy vibration from the pipeline explosion.
But, if 15 buildings collapsed, there might be occupants who didn’t go to church inside these buildings.
According to a video that is seen to have gone viral, a young man who left for church in the early hours of today, came back home from church and discovered that the weelscreen to 2 of his cars parked in the house got destroyed during the explosion.
Based on tweets from Lagosians, the explosion was felt all across lagos state and some who live in ogun state also said they felt the explosion. I pray that everyone living around this area, will be safe.
Detectives at Ikere Police Station in Ikere Local Government Area of Ekiti State are currently quizzing the rape suspect, one Anthony Arogunmasa, popularly known as ‘Pastor of Araromi Street’.
It was said that the incident happened on September 23 when the 29-year-old pastor (not him pictured in that shocking church scene) met the 19-year-old on the road leading to his church, which also doubles as his house, and engaged her in a conversation. It was said that the randy pastor made his victim to believe she had spiritual problem and would need to undergo spiritual cleansing immediately in his church.
It was gathered that at the church the suspect sexually assaulted his victim, and under interrogation he admitted that he had carnal knowledge of the teenage girl.
According to a statement by the Ekiti Police Public Relations Officer, Victor Babayemi, the accused was described as a serial rapist, who lured women under the guise of spiritual deliverance.
“On getting to his room, the victim was threatened and put under fear of harm before being raped.
“Medical report confirmed that the victim was actually raped by the suspect while preliminary investigation revealed that he is a serial rapist, who lures hapless women with ‘spiritual cleansing’ to have unlawful carnal knowledge of them.
“He will be charged to court as soon as investigation into the case is concluded.”
