Igbo youth groups under the auspices of The Coalition of igbo Groups have accused the apex Igbo socio-cultural group, Ohanaeze Ndigbo of not providing leadership to the region, saying it is responsible for the crisis that has rocked the body for several months.

The group in a release signed by three of its sub-groups said the nepotistic interest of the national president of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief Nnia Nwodo was responsible for the suspension of a report that would have seen the creation of Aba state before the 2019 election, accusing him of backing the creation of Adada state.

According to the group, since Chief Nwodo came on board as the national president of Ohanaeze Ndigbo in 2017, the annual celebration of Igbo day has been relegated to the background, a situation it has has not helped in celebrating Igbo culture and uniting all Igbo speaking nations.

Igbo Groups Chides Ohanaeze Ndigbo over failure to win additional State for Southeast….Backs Ohanaeze Youths on 2023,…as OYC says its igbo Presidency or death, declares Nwodo Ohanaeze illegal, never appointed Gowon.

(1)The Coalition of igbo Groups namely: World igbo Youth Congress, Southeast Women Professionals and igbo Students Union,in a Press Statement Jointly signed by Mazi Alex Okemiri and Arc Nnamdi Uzodinma(for World  igbo Youth Congress),Dr Helen Ogbonnaya (for Southeast Women Professionals) and Comrade Chidi Ugwunjo (Igbo Students Union)had described the failure of Ohanaeze Ndigbo in giving quality leadership direction to Igbos like Afenifere and Arewa Consultantive Forum as the main Controversial issues that associated with the apex igbo organisation leadership crisis, after our diligent research on the  situation and from intelligent reports shows that the Crisis between the organs of Ohanaeze Ndigbo is based on these findings and facts below;

(1) The Suspension of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Report on State Creation by Nnia Nwodo, Which was expected to be Recommended to President Muhammadu Buhari for Presidential Considerations before 2019 elections is the Major Cause for the internal crisis that had divided interests amongst the organs of the organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Committee on State Creation Chaired By H.E Prof Chigozie Ogbu and Dim Uche Okwukwu as the Secretary of the Committee, Submitted the Reports to the National Executive Committee for deliberations,it was discussed and Majority Voted for the Creation of Aba State against other States especially Nwodo’s Preferred Adada State, but afterwards, the sudden Suspension of  the reports and non recommendation of Aba State Creation to President Muhammadu Buhari as expected, fueled Crisis as Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youths Confirmed the insincerity and nepotistic tendencies of Nwodo on Aba State Creation and sorted out ways to implement it through recommendation and transmission of the report to President Buhari, The Nepotistic Tendencies of Nwodo shutdown the golden opportunity for the realisation  of the Sixth (equaliser )State in the South East, His Grave misdeeds had cost Igbos to lose about 300bn Annually from Revenue of Federal Government and internal Generated revenue,  there’s loss of infrastructural development, loss in Expansion  of political space which includes One New Governor, three Senators, eight House Representatives and 17 Lga Chairmen and employment opportunities associated with State Creation. This angered the Youth Council to seek for autonomy and independence in face high handedness of the Nwodo’s regime.

(2)Ohanaeze Ndigbo leadership Crisis started Over the Failure of Leadership to Organise the Annual but Compulsory Igbo Day Celebrations which holds on September 29th every Year, and since the inception of Nwodo’s Regime in January 2017, and without any excuse or explanation, Nwodo had demonstrated epileptic but lackadaisical attitude towards the Igbo Day Celebrations as annually organized by Ohanaeze Ndigbo for promotion of  Igbo Cultural Unity and Oneness of Igbo Nation, irrespective of huge funds contributed Monthly By Governors and Corporate entities, Lack of willpower to summon all igbo speaking States for the annual event where key decisions and Cultural activities are carried on in line with established Norms and Values of igbo Nation contributed to the crisis which had evidently manifested itself in non uniformity in Press Releases issued with the platform of Ohanaeze Ndigbo,by her different organs.

(3) Ohanaeze Ndigbo had failed to constitute the proper ime obi Ohanaeze Ndigbo (the apex decision making organ) which is made up Current and past Governors, Current And past Ministers and captains of industries, and the non existent of the most important organ, The General Assembly, drawn from Seven Speaking States of igbo Nation including Anioma in Delta and Rivers States, triggered loss of interests in Ohanaeze Ndigbo Activities especially from Igbo Traditional Rulers, igbo affiliated Groups and Stakeholders, its on record that there’s no General Assembly meeting in Ohanaeze Ndigbo Since Nwodo’s Regime in January 2017 at the National Headquarters of Igbo Nation.

(3) Nwodo had failed to Conclude the registration process of Ohanaeze Ndigbo which makes the apex igbo body which was initiated by his predecessor, in the eyes of the law, Ohanaeze Ndigbo is impotent, illegal and lacked willpower to make her decisions binding on Igbos Unlike the other Ethnic Nationalities Groups,We Challenge Ohanaeze Ndigbo to display in the National dailies any certificate of registration from CAC for public view, within the next 72hours, as failure to display it, will be Considered as acceptance that Ohanaeze Ndigbo is illegal before the eyes of the law.

Coalition igbo Groups after identifying these myriad of problems associated with Ohanaeze Ndigbo,thereby suggest the following, that Since;

(1) Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide is a  registered Organisation and operate Under the law, with the Mandates given by igbo Youths on the Abakiliki Convention on 1st March 2018 to the leadership Of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide led by Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, with a tenure of four years, they should Continue to speak for Igbos until their tenure expires in 2022.

(2) That Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide should boldly Submit the Ohanaeze Ndigbo State Creation Report, to President Muhammadu Buhari as was  recommended by Ohanaeze  Ndigbo Committee on State Creation which approved the Creation of Aba State, but there should be wide Consultative Meetings with relevant authorities in igboland before embarking on the persuasive action for the Creation of additional State in the South East.

(3) Coalition of Igbo Groups call on igbo Governors in Seven Speaking States to save Igbos of Complete the process of the registration of Ohanaeze Ndigbo to fully legitimately operate before the law, and beg Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide to suspend any  legal action against the infringement their rights by Unregistered Ohanaeze Ndigbo, as such legal action will definitely destroy the image of the already crisis ridden Organisation.

Subsequently, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide should continue to champion the quest for a Nigerian President of igbo Stock 2023.

In another development, the leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide wishes to inform Igbos and Nigerians that  OYC is a registered organisation that operates under the ambit of The law, which Ohanaeze Ndigbo led by Nnia Nwodo remained Unregistered, We wonder where unregistered Ohanaeze Ndigbo drives her powers to cast aspersions on a legitimate organization under the law, for the sake of posterity,  Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide had described the appointment of Yakubu Gowon to lead igbo Presidency  project as a ruse and imaginative illusions of Fifth columnists and which was misinterpreted by Unregistered Ohanaeze Ndigbo through  the Uninformed publicity secretaries Chuks ibegbu and Akpachi Uga, OYC irrespective of the distractions from detractors ,Igbo Youths are Committed in the 2023 igbo Presidency project.

In the Statement signed by Mazi Okwu Nnabuike Secretary General Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide, described Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro as a servant leader, a strong Personality, and unstoppable igbo Warrior, capable of championing the Actualization  of Nigerian President of igbo Stock against  all odds and We are aware of the political landmines, pitfalls and compromised saboteurs standing  between Igbos and Our Political emancipation in 2023, Its 2023 Igbo Presidency project or death. We are ready to sacrifice our lives for Igbos to regain their legitimate Quest for 2023 Presidency.

ECOWAS Denies Endorsing Any Herbal Medicine For COVID-19

0

The ECOWAS Commission has dismissed reports that its health institution, West Africa Health Organisation had ordered medicine developed by the Malagasy Institute of Applied Research, Madagascar, for COVID-19 treatment.

The regional body said it was aware that several claims of COVID-19 cures had been made in different parts of the world but added that it could endorse products that have been shown to be effective through scientific study.

Madagascar had touted organics as a cure for the coronavirus disease with President Andry Rajoelina celebrating the herbal medicine which contains artemisia at an African Union gathering.

But the ECOWAS Commission in a statement in Abuja on Thursday said WAHO is collaborating with relevant partners including the World Health Organisation, Africa Centres for Disease Control as well as national, regional, and international research consortia to promote the scientific search for a cure.

ECOWAS said WAHO remained committed to promoting rational traditional medicine practices and products in the region.

It said the institution has over the years worked consistently with the Member States to scientifically investigate plant medicines of proven efficacy.

The commission added that such products were documented in ECOWAS Pharmacopoeia of Traditional Medicines, the second edition of which would be published in the next few weeks.

The statement read in part, “We wish to dissociate ECOWAS and its health institution, West Africa Health Organization from this claim and to inform the general public that we have not ordered the said CVO medication.

“We are working with member states on some of the medications available for clinical trials and for use on a compassionate basis in selected severe cases.

“Some of the traditional medicine centres of excellence in the ECOWAS region are also currently investigating products of potential efficacy.”

Judge Who Pronounced Annulment Of June 12 Election Is Dead

1

The judge who pronounced the annulment of the June 12, 1993 presidential election, Justice Dahiru Saleh is dead.

Details of his death are sketchy but TheCable (not ABN TV) understands that he died in Bauchi state and would be buried in his hometown of Azare, still in Bauchi, on Thursday evening.

Until his death, he held the title of “Mutawallen” of Katagum emirate in Bauchi. He was the chief judge of the federal capital territory (FCT) high court.

June 12, 1993 election was adjudged as one of the most credible in the history of the country.

MKO Abiola, the Social Democratic Party candidate, was leading Bashir Tofa, his National Republican Convention rival, by a wide margin but the exercise was cancelled ahead of the final announcement of results.

This threw the country into months of chaos as protesters hit the streets, calling on Ibrahim Babangida, then the military president, to step down.

Buhari Approves Import Duty, VAT Waivers For Critical Medical Equipment

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the waiver of import duty and Value Added Tax (VAT) for critical medical equipment and supplies.

The Presidency revealed this in a series of tweets on Thursday, saying the import duty, VAT waiver was for a period of six months in the first instance.

It explained that the President’s action was part of measures put in place by the Nigerian government to address the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on its economy.

According to the Presidency, the waivers which are the latest of the fiscal policies also aim to boost the health infrastructure in the country.

Reopen Churches & Coronavirus Will Vanish – Pastor Giwa

2

The senior pastor of Awaiting the Second Coming of Jesus Christ Ministry, Adewale Giwa has said that the earlier the government reopen churches the quicker the coronavirus pandemic will vanish.

He said it was unfortunate that the world is moving far away from God by preventing Christian fellowships across the globe.

Giwa, in a statement to DAILY POST on Thursday, said it was a pity that the people could not see beyond their nose.

The cleric revealed that the coronavirus pandemic had been cooked up a long time ago by those who want to control the world.

He said,” It’s a pity that people cannot see beyond their nose. The earlier they reopen the churches the quicker the pandemic will vanish.

“Where is your faith? Our faith has been sold for money. Can you imagine a pastor addressing his congregants to sit at home if they love themselves?

“I said it in the past that the church was their target. Let me tell you that they have succeeded in creating fear in the minds of unbelievers with their staged pandemic.

“Do you know how many people died in Kano mysteriously? In some cases, they inject people to die.

“Why are you killing the people you cannot create? The devil has taken over the people, and they don’t believe in the house of God anymore.

“The majority of people who support the closure of God’s house claim to be Christians. I am sure no true Christian will support the closure of the church.

“We are now living in a society where people don’t know the God they serve. They believe in scientists more than the God who created us.

“No wonder Jesus Christ asked in the book of Luke 18:8 that when the Son of Man comes, would he find faith on the earth?

“He also said in Matthew 20:16 that the first would be last while the last would be first; for many be called but few chosen.

“Those that the people see today as foremost religious leaders are disappointing their members by what they say.

“In these trying times, a true man of God would stand by the WORD OF GOD in Matthew 10:26 that tells us to only fear God, not man.

“Why are people trading their faith for money after everything God has done for us? Is this how we repay Him,”.?

FG Instructs NAFDAC To Assess Herbal Cough Mixture As Potential Cure For COVID-19

1

The Ministry of Health has directed the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, NAFDAC to carry out necessary procedures for the assessment of a plant-based cough mixture to treat COVID-19 patients.

The Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Mashi Abdullahi, issued the directive in a memo with REF no. TCAM/077/I/65 addressed to the Director-General of NAFDAC, Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye.

The document, dated April 28, 2020, was titled ‘Formulation of a Phyto-Medicine-Based Cough Mixture/Syrup for the Management of COVID-19 Patients by Traditional, Complementary, and Alternative Medicine Department of the Ministry’.

It read, “As you are aware, the COVID-19 pandemic is currently ravaging the world with no definite treatment or vaccine.

“It is heartwarming to note that the Department of TCAM has taken the pains to research into scientific materials to come up with a formulation intended for the management of cough in COVID-19 and other cough-related infections.”

According to Abdullahi, the formulation is a Cov-herbal cough mixture.

He said, “Interestingly, all the ingredients that make up the formulations are medicinal plants that are widely used as food materials and medicines.

“They include Allium Sativa (garlic); Allium cepa (onions); Zingiber officinale (ginger): Piper guineense (West African Black Pepper); and Adansonia digitata (baobab fruit). The innovation here is the composition of the formulation.

“These medicinal plants have documented scientific evidence of long use for the management of cough and other respiratory infections, with medicinal properties of mucolytic, antitussive, expectorant, soothing, demulcent, anti-inflammatory and antiviral effects.”

The permanent secretary stated that the ministry was determined to “walk the talk” in the promotion and integration of herbal medicine into the health care delivery system.

“In view of the foregoing and the desire of the ministry to showcase to the public a product that is 100 per cent sourced locally, you are requested to carry out the necessary procedures for listing.

“The ministry will contract the packaging of the product to some identified pharmaceutical companies. Find attached scientific pieces of evidence of the products end labelling for your information end necessary action,” he added.
