Liverpool could be in danger of not having a trophy presentation should they clinch the Premier League title following the planned resumption of play this season, league chief executive Richard Masters said.

According to League Chief, Masters, the Premier League will assess the social distancing and safety aspects of organising a trophy presentation before giving the runaway leaders the green light for players to take part in the traditional end-of-season medal ceremony, if they confirm the club’s first league title since 1990.

English football’s top flight has been suspended since March 13 due to the coronavirus crisis, and although players will return to contact-free training on Tuesday, no date has been set for Premier League fixtures to resume. June 12 remains the favoured date for fixtures to start again.

Nothing Like Niger-Delta Or South-South – Nnamdi Kanu

The Leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, has faulted the establishment of Niger-Delta and South-South in Nigeria.

In a statement Nnamdi Kanu sent to Vanguard, through Emma Powerful, the group’s publicity secretary, Kanu argued that Abia, Cross River, Akwa Ibom are the same people.

Nnamdi Kanu said there is nothing like Niger-Delta or South-South, noting that only a fool would call him or herself a Niger-Deltan or South-South person.

Read the full statement below: Abia, Cross River, Akwa Ibom are the same people “I want to educate the enemies of Biafra, traitors within and agents of the Janjaweed Caliphate that there is NOTHING like Niger-Delta or South-South.

I maintain that only a fool and a roundly unintelligent one at that can ever call him or herself a Niger-Deltan or South-South person.

The British and their illiterate Fulani house niggers thought they could divide us, not knowing that what binds all the nations of Biafra is stronger than the hate they planted amongst us.

“The building blocks of a NATION is the commonality of culture as universally defined and accepted and they don’t come lesser than the referred EKPE & OKONKO fraternities which bind Bende province in Abia, Efik and Ibibio together as one family.

Go through the text on the first picture, you will see that Abiriba ranks alongside other clans in Biafra all the way to Bakassi peninsular as having the same EKPE culture.

“Abiriba is the umbilical cord that ties Igbos to their brethren in Ejeagham, Efik, Ibibio, Annang, Bakassi and all the way to parts of Ambazonia.

Abiriba people of Bende in Abia State is by far the richest clan in Africa per capita and are the only Igbo group that uses ‘ung or ong’ similar to that in Effi’ong or Ob’ong in their lexicon.

Check out the writing on the cultural float in the second picture below.

“Without prejudice to my fellow Biafrans in Bini that I love dearly, I want to ask those that carved out South-South/Niger-Delta, what are the tangible cultural ties or affinity between the people of Cross River and Bini that led to putting them together in a geopolitical unit?

Because Abia State has EKPE and OKONKO cults which are bonded to cultures in Cross River & Akwa Ibom states.

“My question, therefore, is, on what basis did Fulani Janjaweed determine who to include in their South-South region when clearly the closest relatives to Cross River and Akwa Ibom is Abia?

However, Wikipedia has it that; “The Niger Delta is the delta of the Niger River sitting directly on the Gulf of Guinea on the Atlantic Ocean in Nigeria.

“It is typically considered to be located within nine coastal southern Nigerian states, which include: all six states from the South-South geopolitical zone, one state (Ondo) from South-West geopolitical zone and two states (Abia and Imo) from South-East geopolitical zone.

Of all the states that the region covers, only Cross River is not an oil-producing state.

“The Niger Delta is a very densely populated region sometimes called the Oil Rivers because it was once a major producer of palm oil.

“The area was the British Oil Rivers Protectorate from 1885 until 1893 when it was expanded and became the Niger Coast Protectorate.

“The delta is a petroleum-rich region and has been the centre of international controversy over pollution.”

Giving Palliatives To Pastors, Imams Will End Agitation To Reopen Worship Centres – MURIC

0

The Muslim Rights Concern, MURIC has asked state governments to consider giving palliatives to imams and pastors to cushion the effect of COVID-19 measures on them.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, Ishaq Akintola, MURIC director, said the palliatives will address the agitation to reopen churches and mosques.

“The open demand by certain religious leaders for their places of worship to be reopened lends credence to the pressure clerics are going through,” he said.

“Even the recent decision by some state governments to reopen religious centres is not unconnected with subterranean agitations from clerics in the states. Deserted for weeks, the house of God longs for warmth.

“The impact of the economic nosedive on imams and pastors cannot be overemphasized particularly for a country whose proletariat is overworked, underpaid and overtaxed.”

Akintola said the realities of the Nigerian economy call for government’s attention ”particularly as they affect keepers of the house of God”.

“MURIC, therefore, advises the various state governments to speedily devise means of getting special palliatives to the clerics in the churches and mosques.

“They deserve attention at this crucial moment because they have nowhere to go. They should not be turned to beggars.

“They have served the government at various times. They should not be abandoned in their hour of need.

“Besides, members of their families deserve decent lives as Section 33 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria stipulates the right to life for every citizen while Section 34 confers the right to the dignity of the human person.”

Lagos Doctors Begin Indefinite Sit-At-Home Strike To Protest Police Harassment

The Lagos State branch of the Nigerian Medical Association, NMA has directed members to embark on a Sit-at-Home strike to protest alleged harassment of its member at the frontline of Covid-19 by security operatives.

The group accused the Police in Lagos of Harassment of its members through conflicting directives on the status of essential workers.

In a press statement, the association of doctors noted that “Whereas the directives of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Muhamadu Buhari, through the Presidential Taskforce on COVID 19, was clear on the exemption of essential workers including doctors and other health workers from the ongoing lockdown/movement restrictions, the Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, Mr Hakeem Odumosu, has been issuing conflicting directives on social and mainstream media to the effect that essential workers, including doctors and other health workers, are NOT exempted”.
