APC’s Joe Igbokwe Speaks On Efforts To Islamize Ndigbo As Money Exchanges Hands

0

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State, Joe Igbokwe, has described as “total madness everywhere in the South-East” allegations of him receiving huge money to help northerners actualize an alleged Islamization agenda.

Igbokwe stated this via a post on his known Facebook page on Wednesday.

“I HEAR THAT THE CULTURAL SAVAGES AND IRREDEEMABLE BIGOTS FROM SOUTH EAST SAID I COLLECTED MILLIONS OF DOLLARS TO HELP ISLAMIZE IGBO NATION. Total madness everywhere in the SE. Ndi Uchu!!!” Igbokwe wrote.

Some persons have always allege that there are people in power secretly working to Islamize Nigeria, a secular society — although no one has been able to prove with evidence, beyond reasonable doubt.

Recall that in August, a retired Navy Commodore, Kunle Olawunmi granted an interview on Channels TV’s Sunrise Daily programme where he alleged Islamization and Boko Haram sponsors in government.

“When you want to look at these type of challenges, what you do is go through what we call the intelligence circle. When you do the processing and analysis before dissemination point, you discover that the end game for them is to just turn this country to a Taliban type of country.

“It’s a mindset and anything goes. In other words, 10 percent casualty, 20 percent casualty is allowed in trying to achieve the end game of Islamising this country,” Olawunmi had said.

His interview attracted public interest, and he was invited by Nigerian authorities to provide more details about his allegations.

El-Rufai Is Exporting Banditry To Southern Nigeria, Gov. Akeredolu Opens Up

Rotimi Akeredolu and Mallam Nasir El-Rufai

The Governor of Ondo state, Mr Rotimi Akeredolu, has attacked his counterpart in Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, over the his comments on the controversial anti-open grazing law.

El-Rufai had described the anti-open grazing laws being signed by some of the southern governors as unrealistic. In a statement issued by the Ondo state Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Mr Donald Ojogo, Akeredoli said such a statement should not have come from a leader.

In the statement titled, ‘Anti-open grazing: El-Rufai’s attack on southern governors devious, a hysteric ploy to externalise banditry’, Akeredolu reiterated that the anti-open grazing law, especially in Ondo State, had come to stay, saying;

“It shall be zealously guarded and conscionably deployed to protect all residents of Ondo State, notwithstanding their ethnic and religious biases.”

“From all indications, Governor Nasir El-Rufai, if he was properly quoted and his views not misrepresented, is struggling hard to export banditry to the South under an expressed opinion that is laced with mischief.”

“Perhaps, it is apt to state clearly that the likes of Governor El-Rufai are already in a hysteric ‘mode’ of escalating and indeed, externalising banditry, especially as the military onslaught against criminal elements and other terror variants suffices in the North.”

“For emphasis, any such comment like that of the Kaduna Governor, if indeed he made that statement, merely seeks to encourage anarchy under the guise of resentment of a law by affected stakeholders.”

Replacing Jonathan With Buhari A Mistake We Regret, Says Northern Elders

0

The Northern Elders Forum has said that it regrets throwing its weight behind then candidate Muhammadu Buhari in the 2015 presidential election, instead of Goodluck Jonathan, adding that Buhari has let down a majority of Nigerians who trusted in his leadership prior to 2015 polls.

According to the NEF’s Director of Publicity and Advocacy, Dr. Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, the forum wants the next president of Nigeria to be one who would act in the “opposite direction” of the incumbent Nigerian leader.

Speaking on Arise TV’s ‘The Morning Show’ breakfast programme monitored by The Guardian, Baba-Ahmed said: “Is there any Nigerian who is not disappointed in President Buhari including diehard APC people? Is there anybody who would not tell you he wished President Buhari had done much better?

“We raised huge expectations, we told people, ‘Get rid of Jonathan, put Buhari there, he would fix corruption, he would fix insecurity, he would fix the economy’ (but) look at where we are now.

“How can anybody say they are happy with the record of President Buhari, even the people very close to him would tell you that they wished he could have done much better and he could have done much better and he hasn’t.

“So, what we need to do now is to get ready to elect another President who would go in the opposite direction, a President who has a vision and a clear idea of what governance involves rather than just being a President. So, I am disappointed and that is why today, I am actively involved in trying to see that a new leader emerges in getting Nigerians a new lease of life,” added Baba-Ahmed whose group, it’d be recalled, called for the resignation of Buhari in December 2020.

Jonathan, a former governor of Bayelsa State, was Nigeria’s Vice-President between 2007 and 2010, and assumed the role of president following the demise of then President Umaru Yar’adua in 2010.

Jonathan, afterwards, contested the 2011 presidential election and won but failed in his bid to get re-elected four years later, losing to Buhari, a former military head of state who ruled between 1983 and 1985. Buhari came into power in December 1983 via a military coup that brought to an end four years of civilian rule.

Though out of Aso Rock, Jonathan has been seen working closely with the incumbent in his role as Special Envoy of the Economic Community of West African States.

With the 2023 elections fast approaching and the clamour for a power shift to the South, Jonathan, who is currently Buhari’s Special Envoy to the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), could have another shot at the presidency as the constitution permits all eligible Nigerians to be in office for two terms.

He has been receiving entreaties and visitations from many APC chieftains in recent time, with some, such as the National Secretary of the party’s Caretaker and Extra-ordinary Convention Planning Committee, John Akpanudoedehe, saying Jonathan would be given an opportunity to contest the 2023 presidency on the party’s platform if he decides to join the APC.

However, Jonathan has not declared any intention to contest in the forthcoming election.

If he decides to join the race though, it would be in line with the wishes of the governors of Nigeria’s southern states who at their recent meetings in Lagos and Enugu insisted that power must return to the South in 2023.

However, Baba-Ahmed is of the opinion that the Southern governors should not make the 2023 presidency a matter of disagreement amongst Nigerians, noting that they should instead negotiate as the North had lived under Southern Presidents — Olusegun Obasanjo and Jonathan — since Nigeria’s return to democratic rule in 1999.

“We have lived under Southern presidents because we recognise that Nigeria is made up of sections, ethnic groups and interests. We recognise that, we are northerners, pluralism is in our DNA, we accept that, we live with it,” he said.

“Don’t make the issue of presidency a matter over which Nigerians would fight and threaten the country and the democratic process, that is very dangerous for this country,” the NEF spokesman stated.

Baba-Ahmed nevertheless insisted that what Nigeria needs is a President who realises the need to rebuild the country, secure Nigerians and check the downward trajectory of the country’s economy.

“The nation needs a leader that would do the things that President Buhari hasn’t done, create inclusiveness, address resentment and frustration in other parts of the country and in the north and speak and act for everybody,” he said, before adding that both the ruling APC and the leading opposition party, the PDP, have no answers to what Nigerians want in a candidate in 2023.

He noted that the “smaller parties” should be given the opportunity to field candidates with the character and capacity to lead Nigeria from all its current travails.

0

Minister of finance, budget and national planning, Zainab Ahmed has stated that the federal government would promote industrial digital economy, inclusive and economic development.

This was announced on Tuesday by Zainab Ahmed at the West Africa Business Forum, themed; “Empowering women and youths to spur Africa’s transformation agenda” in Lagos.

She noted that inclusive economic development is a core element of the African Union Agenda 2063 and the United Nations sustainable development goals (SDGs) agenda.

“In Nigeria, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) represent up to 90 per cent of manufacturing and 80 percent of trade,” Ahmed said.

“Our national strategy includes an MSME aggregation programme to promote specialization and increase productivity, and also an MSME connection to e-commerce platforms and other emerging technologies.

“By leveraging these digital technologies, Nigeria hopes to create alternative routes to markets for MSMEs, within Nigeria and beyond, and to support production clusters in manufacturing and agriculture.

“It is, therefore, expedient to promote an industrial digital economy, sustainable and inclusive economic development.”

Ahmed also said that the federal government will leverage the opportunities provided by the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) agreement to improve export capacities of both formal and informal service suppliers.

“We are hopeful that the forum will be an effective avenue for empowering women and youth entrepreneurs and addressing the unemployment challenges that we have in the African region.

“The AfCFTA offers the continent’s youth and women greater opportunities to be players in regional value chain development,” she added.

Mixed reactions have trailed the devastating news about the death of Fortune, the official photographer of Nigerian entertainer, Davido.

As reported earlier, according to actor and content creator, Feranmi better known as Yhemo Lee, he was scheduled to meet up with Fortune for a shoot but it was unfortunate he arrived at the location and discovered that Fortune had died not long ago.

This is the third death recorded in the camp of Davido in barely 2 years as he recently suffered the loss of his road manager, Obama DMW.

Reacting to this, some Twitter users raised suspicions that the deaths in the 30 Billion camp is not normal and alluded that Davido is sacrificing his crew members and obviously using them to maintain his fame.

“If I talk now u guys may block me. But seriously at this point if it was Wizkid that his friends have been d!€ing back to back, an influencer will have say he is using them to ren€w fame and this sp bloggers will pick it up. But honestly it is getting obvious for davido” one tweep wrote.

“Davido constantly losing his close friends to the hands of death isn’t right; Something is seriously wrong in the spiritual realm. Davido as well as his entire crew need to check themselves & go into prayers while cos this is becoming a pattern; It’s a spiritual warfare,”another said.

“Wizkid get crew members, Burna get crew members, Olamide get crew members..none of them crew members dey die like chicken like davido’s camp…wetin dey xup gan gan🤔” another added.
