Lai Mohammed Reveals ‘Major Difference’ Between Bandits And IPOB

0

Nigeria’s Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed has said the armed bandits terrorising the North-West and some other parts of Northern Nigeria are common criminals.

He said unlike Boko Haram and the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) who have ideologies and flags, they are simpler criminals. According to him, bandits are just common criminals who believe in Nigeria’s unity and sovereignty, unlike Boko Haram and IPOB.

The Minister made this known on Monday during an interview on TVC’s ‘This Morning’ programme.

Mohammed, one of President Muhammadu Buhari’s ministers, therefore, noted that bandits should not be compared with Boko Haram insurgents and IPOB separatists because they cannot be attached to a religious or an ideological goal.

“The difference between IPOB, Boko Haram on one side and bandits is that, while IPOB and Boko Haram are driven by ideology, a belief that they don’t want to be part Nigeria, bandits have no flags.”

“Bandits have no flag. Bandits are simple criminals. There’s no difference between bandits and other criminals other than their ferocity,” the minister said. “Bandits have never said they don’t believe in Nigeria, they are just pure criminals,” he said.

The comments of the Minister came amidst growing calls for Buhari to declare bandits and killer herdsmen as terrorists. Earlier in October, Mohammed on the Nigerian Television Authority programme, “Good Morning Nigeria,’’ said the accusation the Buhari government was treating bandits with kid gloves was erroneous and misleading.

Speaking on the issue during the programme monitored by ABN TV in Abuja, the minister said the approach of the Nigerian government through the military in treating criminals is not to make a distinction between bandits and terrorists.

“I think we have been dancing around nomenclature, a criminal is a criminal whether it is a bandit or terrorist and the same measure is being meted out to them. That is why we find it ridiculous, the accusation that the federal government is softer on bandits than the separatists and other criminals.”

Father Mbaka Speaks On Release Of Nnamdi Kanu, Reveals What Will Happen Thereafter

The Spiritual Director, Adoration Ministry Enugu Nigeria, AMEN, Rev. Father Ejike Mbaka has stated that the release of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) Nnamdi Kanu, will end the sit-at-home order in some parts of the south-east.

Mbaka noted that he has been praying hard for God to turn the heart of President Muhammadu Buhari to Kanu for good.

ABN TV reports in some parts of the south-east for weeks, the sit-at-home order by IPOB witnessed considerable compliance as residents stayed indoors despite repeated declarations by Governors in the region that people should disregard the directive.

The cleric in the now-viral video seen by ABN TV during a sermon at Adoration Ground said Kanu cannot continue to remain in DSS custody forever.

He said: “For long, nobody has seen him (Kanu) and whether we like it or not, as of today, he is the voice that will open and say something that the entire Igbo youths will say “Amen” to it. We should all be busy talking about the release of Nnamdi Kanu.

“Killing and killing of our youths will not bring solutions. There is nobody that you will kill his child and will forgive you. If possible let them (govt) build more remand homes instead of killing and killing.

“Whether we believe it or not, the sun must rise, it is a matter of time.”

He was a former top military officer who rose to become the first African-American secretary of state in 2001 under former US president, George W Bush.

He served in the US-Vietnam war, an experience that later helped define his own military and political strategies as he became a trusted military adviser to a number of leading US politicians.

His national popularity soared in the aftermath of the US-led coalition victory during the Gulf War, but his reputation would be forever stained when, as George W. Bush’s first secretary of state, he pushed faulty intelligence before the United Nations to advocate for the Iraq War, claiming the country was developing weapons of mass destructions, an allegation that was proven false after the US led invasion of Iraq.

Buhari Is Not Corrupt, I Don’t Regret Campaigning For Him – Jide Kosoko

Veteran actor, Jide Kosoko, has said he does not regret campaigning for President Muhammadu Buhari in 2015.

Kosoko said although he is disappointed in some of the actions of the President, he can’t state that Buhari is totally bad, adding that so many things are responsible for what is happening in Nigeria.

According to him, Nigerians are just doing trip and error when it comes to choosing its President.

When asked if he regrets campaigning for the President, Kosoko told Premium Times, “No, I can never regret it. All Nigerian youths saying different things, let them show us who to follow, do you know who will do well, do you know?

“Professor Wole Soyinka was appointed the founding Corps Marshall of the FRSC, he ran away, he could not stand it. So, tell me if you are able to confirm to me that Jide Kosoko is the best to govern us, then I will follow you. But nobody knows, we are all making trial and error.”

The actor noted that so many things are responsible for the situation in Nigeria.

“I cannot speak for the government but I can’t say Buhari’s government is totally bad but I’m disappointed in some of his actions.

“Buhari knows that discipline is his watchword, I wanted to believe him then, but he should know that in getting a corrupt-free society you would face quite a lot of antagonism.”

“I believe Buhari and personally, he is not corrupt, but so many things are still going on. This means that prompt action must be taken to ensure that those things stop in the country,” Kosoko said.

2023: Nnamdi Kanu’ll Force Igbo President To Declare Biafra – Dokpesi

0

Raymond Dokpesi, the founder of DAAR Communications, has disclosed how the agitation for Biafra by Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has affected the chances of the southeast producing a Nigerian president.

Dokpesi disclosed that some Nigerians believe that Kanu would force a Nigerian president of Igbo extraction to declare Biafra.

He said the IPOB leader may use militant tactics to blackmail and force an Igbo President to declare South East independence.

He stressed that Kanu and IPOB have complicated the agitation of the Southeast to produce a Nigerian president.

Dokpesi, in a statement he issued on Monday, stressed his belief in a united and indivisible Nigeria.

The statement reads partly: “The emergence of IPOB and its influence across the South East has complicated and undermined the agitation for patriotic Nigerians of Igbo extraction to lead this nation as far as the 2023 election is concerned.

“If nobody has told Ohaneze Ndigbo before, the concern today from some other regions is that if Nnamdi Kanu plays the role of Aguiyi Ironsi in leading a militant revolt against constitutional government in the southeast under Igbo presidency, the president will be pressured by his base to facilitate the UN processes for the South East to call for independence from Nigeria.

“Thus an Igbo President may be compromised in protecting the political and geographic boundaries of Nigeria whilst Nigeria remains under the threat of IPOB’s secessionist activities.”

Prior to his rearrest, Kanu had led the agitation for the actualization of Biafra.

While in the United Kingdom, UK, Kanu was pushing for the actualization of Biafra by engaging those he could across the world.

He used Twitter and Radio Biafra more in spreading his Biafra messages across Nigeria and the world.
