Hours after the attack on traditional rulers in Njaba local government area of Imo State on Tuesday, the State Police Commissioner, Rabiu Hussaini, has said the command will nab the fleeing gunmen.

This is even as he insisted that only two monarchs were killed during the shooting spree, while one sustained gunshot wounds.

Spokesperson for the command, Michael Abattam, made the disclosure in a statement on Wednesday morning.

The two monarchs killed during the attack are Eze S. C Osunwa of Ihebinowere Autonomous Community and Eze Barr A. E Durueburuo, Obi of Okwudor Autonomous Community while Eze A. N Onyeka (JP) of Nkume Autonomous Community sustained gunshot injury.

According to the police, the Njaba local government Transition chairman, Hon. Iheanacho had invited 15 traditional rulers to a meeting without informing any of the security agencies.

Abattam said the meeting was in progress when suspected armed IPOB/ESN members invaded the venue.

“While the meeting was in progress, armed bandits suspected to be IPOB/ ESN members came and started shooting at them indiscriminately after which they ran back into the bush,” Abatam said.

He further explained that while they await rebuilding of the Njaba Police Division, policemen are stationed in vehicular patrols in the area to checkmate crime and criminality following the invasion by some yet-to-be identified gunmen alleged to be IPOB/ ESN terror groups members, who attacked the Njaba Police Division and razed it down during which two policemen lost their lives.

Meanwhile, the State Police boss has expressed his condolences to the families of the two slain traditional rulers and enjoined people to go about their lawful businesses, saying they will bring the perpetrators of the attack to book.

#EndSARS: FG Insists No Protester Was Shot At Lekki Tollgate, Demands Apology From CNN

The Federal Government has insisted that protesters were not shot at Lekki Tollgate in Lagos on October 20, 2020.

EndSARS protesters, who were demonstrating against police brutality, were forcefully dispersed by security operatives exactly a year ago.

While the protest organizers had insisted that some protesters were killed, the Federal Government had dismissed reports of the killings.

At a press briefing in Abuja on Wednesday, Lai Mohammed, Minister of Information, said a year after the incident, no evidence that people were killed.

“Today marks the first anniversary of the phantom massacre at Lekki Toll Gate in Lagos, which was the culmination of an otherwise peaceful protest that was later hijacked by hoodlums.”

“At earlier press conferences, I had called the reported massacre at the toll gate the first massacre in the world without blood or bodies. One year later, and despite ample opportunities for the families of those allegedly killed and those alleging a massacre to present evidence, there has been none: No bodies, no families, no convincing evidence, nothing. Where are the families of those who were reportedly killed at the toll gate? Did they show up at the Judicial Panel of Inquiry? If not, why?

“Sadly, the champions of a massacre at the Lekki Toll Gate, including Amnesty International and CNN, have continued to shamelessly hold on to their unproven stand. Recall, gentlemen, that after bandying different figures, Amnesty International finally settled at about 12 people killed. On its part, CNN went from 38 people killed to two to just one, after a supposed global exclusive even when the network had no reporter on ground at the Lekki Toll Gate on Oct. 20th 2020.

“On Monday, the Judicial Panel of Inquiry that was set up by the Lagos State Government after the EndSARS protest wrapped up its sitting. During the sitting, CNN was summoned but it never showed up, thus missing a great opportunity to prove its allegation of massacre at the toll gate. Also, Amnesty International had a golden opportunity to convince the world, but it rather opted for issuing meaningless press releases.

“In its latest attempt to grasp at straws and redeem whatever is left of its battered credibility on this issue, CNN has continued with its baseless report that soldiers shot at protesters. In a report currently running on the network, CNN brazenly and unashamedly held on to its flawed narrative, relying on an unidentified mother whose son was reportedly shot dead at Lekki, but without convincing evidence of who shot him dead. The same CNN that tweeted on Oct. 23rd 2020 that 38 people were shot dead at Lekki is now struggling to convince the world that one boy was killed at Lekki. What a shame!”

“With the preponderance of evidence against any massacre at the Lekki Toll Gate on Oct. 20th 2020, we are once again reiterating what we said one year ago, that:

“The military did not shoot at protesters at the Lekki Toll Gate on Oct. 20th 2020, and there was no massacre at the toll gate. The only ‘massacre’ recorded was in the social media, hence there were neither bodies nor blood.

“Amnesty International, CNN, a runaway DJ and others like them should apologize for misleading the world that there was a massacre at the Lekki Toll Gate and for portraying the Nigerian military, police and other security agencies in bad light.”

Nigerian singer, Folarin Falana, aka Falz, has said that he and his team will ensure the timely release of everyone arrested during the End SARS memorial protest at Lekki tollgate.

Hakeem Odumosu, the Lagos State Police Commissioner, has said he ordered his men to tear gas #EndSARSMemorial protesters at the Lekki Toll Gate on Wednesday.

Speaking with newsmen, Odumosu said the police fired tear gas at the protesters to avoid a breakdown of law and order.

The police commissioner noted that he ordered his men to tear gas the protesters because they went against the promise earlier made that the procession will start by 8 am and end by 10 am.

Odumosu added that any demonstration beyond the agreed time is constituting a nuisance and will not be tolerated.

The Commissioner said: “The protest was between 8 am and 10 am, anything, after 10 am, is a nuisance.

“I discussed with them and they said they will end the protest by 10 o’clock. Other people doing it now just causing a nuisance. some with machete, hammer, are they protesters or miscreants?

“The protesters are free; they have done their thing and left. Any other persons remaining are the miscreants, hoodlums that want to capitalise on that to attack innocent people and start robbing people. We will not allow that.”

EPL: Salah Deserves To Earn More Than Ronaldo – Agbonlahor

Mohamed Salah has been told to leave Liverpool if they fail to offer him an improved contract that would see the Egyptian earn more than Cristiano Ronaldo at Manchester United.

Former Aston Villa striker, Gabriel Agbonlahor believes that Salah deserves more pay than the highest-paid player in the Premier League, being Manchester United’s Ronaldo.

Agbonlahor said this after watching the Liverpool man star produce an astonishing performance in the Champions League clash against Atletico Madrid on Tuesday night.

Reports suggest Salah wants £400,000-a-week, but Agbonlahor says Liverpool should give him what he wants.

“If I’m Mo Salah, I want £1 more than the highest-paid player in the #PL,” Agbonlahor said on talkSPORT.

“If you don’t give it to me, I’ll go somewhere that will. I’m that important to #LFC! Without me, they have no chance.”

Solskjaer Regrets Signing Ronaldo – Gary Neville

Manchester United legend, Gary Neville, has reckoned that the club’s boss, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would admit privately that Cristiano Ronaldo should not have joined the club this season.

According to Neville, Solskjaer would rather manage last season’s Manchester United squad.

The Portuguese forward made the sensational return to Manchester United this summer to help the Red Devils fight for titles.

Ronaldo has helped the club escape some scary moments this season but has been unable to save them from sliding out of the top four.

“I thought that last season’s there was something building. I think if you asked him privately ‘Would like last season’s squad back?’ I think he probably would go back,” He told Monday Night Football on Sky Sports,

“They have got six grenades where the pins have been pulled out in the dressing room.

“It can work, I’ve seen Del Bosque manage a Real Madrid team to the Champions League, Zidane has done it with great players, I think PSG are like that at the moment. You see Pochettino there and you think it’s not really a Pochettino team.

“Ole’s got a bit of that now. He has Cristiano Ronaldo, Bruno Fernandes, Edinson Cavani, Paul Pogba and Harry Maguire.

“Massive characters in the dressing room, Maguire will look at Varane in the dressing room and think am I not the top dog anymore?

“You have the dynamic of Cavani sitting on the bench who was begged to stay but now has Ronaldo, Rashford and Greenwood in front of him.

“Sancho has come in for £75m and now he is looking like he is in and out.

“All these issues are developing, Solskjaer has to somehow bring that group together.

“He’s got to find a basic defensive shape that the players buy into and allow the others to go win the games for him. It’s the only way for him to get the season back on track.”

Kaduna State Government To Ban Unvaccinated Civil Servants From Offices From October 31

0

The Kaduna State Government has stated that it is enforcing regulations for its civil servants to receive the Covid 19 jab.

The state government has made it known that from 31st October 2021, Covid protocols and vaccination would be required in order to access KDSG offices.

The government posited that due to the risk of mass infection, they are taking some steps to ensure that the pandemic is contained in the State without overwhelming them hence the protective measure.

Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Communication, Muyiwa Adekeye signed a statement and made it available to the public.
The statement read: As it continues to balance public health considerations and the safe pursuit of livelihoods, the Kaduna State Government is constantly monitoring Covid-19 infections in the state and reviewing the pattern of spread.

Based on these reviews, the State Covid-19 Taskforce has advised the government that the risk of mass infection by Covid-19 remains. This necessitates that careful attention must be paid to continued enforcement of preventive measures and encouraging residents of Kaduna State to practice personal responsibility more consistently. This is in line with the FORWARD campaign launched last year to help citizens adopt preventive measures as the state reopened after months of lockdown.

The commencement of vaccinations against Covid-19 is the most significant development in the public health space since the virus began its tragic worldwide spread. Thus far, only a minority of Nigerians have been vaccinated against Covid-19 because of supply issues.

But there is no such constraint against universal compliance by all residents of Kaduna State with the simple tests outlined in the FORWARD campaign: wear Facemasks, Observe physical distance, practice Respiratory hygiene, Wash hands often with soap and water or use hand sanitizer, Avoid Large gatherings, Remain indoors as much as possible and eat immunity-boosting Diets.

The Kaduna State Government will from 31st October 2021 require compliance with Covid-19 protocols, especially facemasks and vaccination, for access to its offices.

The Ministry of Health has since commenced the vaccination of all civil servants, and this is expected to be completed by 31st October 2021. All civil servants are required to be vaccinated by that date.

Visitors to government offices will need to present their vaccination cards. Given the limited supply of vaccines that are currently available, visitors that have not yet been vaccinated will, in the interim, be permitted entry upon presentation of evidence of registration with the state Ministry of Health for the purpose of vaccination, while wearing their facemasks.

Commissioner of Health Dr. Amina Mohammed-Baloni has announced that residents are encouraged to register at the nearest primary health centre for Covid-19 vaccinations so that the relevant authorities can easily contact them as more Covid-19 vaccines become available.
