The sultan, represented by the Emir of Wase and Chairman of Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI) in Jos, Alhaji Sambo Haruna, presented a N500,000 cash to the tricycle rider during the inauguration of the state’s new executives of JNI at the Jos Central Mosque.

Sultan Sa’ad said the tricycle rider exhibited the real teachings of Islam, describing what he did as a good gesture that every Muslim was expected to practice.

He said, “People should be reminded that there is always a reward for doing good. We are proud of this young man who has brought Islam and youths in Plateau to positive limelight.”

The Emir of Wase on his part said, “Having discovered that it was true, the sultan sent an equal amount of N500,000 to be given to Malam Akilu as a reward for his good deed.”

Speaking with newsmen shortly after his recognition with award of excellence in humanitarian services by Igbo Speaking Community in Lagos on Saturday, the Managing Director/CEO Perfect Price Supermarket said there is never a time for Ndigbo to put their differences aside than now to enable the region muster the needed strength to produce President Muhammadu Buhari’s successor in 2023, saying this would address the secessionist agitation in Igbo land.

While commending men of the armed forces for their sacrifices in curbing terrorism and banditry in Northern Nigeria, he urged that more is done to keep the people safe.

He said, “My advice to Ndi Igbo is to be united in purpose and goal. We come together to set agenda for the project called Nigeria. We must speak with one voice.

“Ndi Igbo is part of Nigeria, we must therefore play our role to remain relevant in the Nigeria project. We must unite to pursue our common goal and aspiration in the Nigeria project and time has come for Igbo president.

“We must also commend the present administration and the sacrifices of our gallant men and women in the military in their fight against insurgency, terrorism, banditry and kidnapping that is ravaging the country”.

The Abia-born community leader also joined other Igbo prominent sons and daughters to call for the immediate, unconditional release of Nnamdi Kanu, saying it would calm the tension in the Southeast geopolitical zone.

Chief Apollos according to Igbo Speaking Community in Lagos was recognized for his ‘achievement in Humanitarian Services which remains unequalled and indelible in the history of Nigeria in general and Ndigbo in particular’.

The event also coincided with the 2021 Nnoko Ndigbo and iriji (new yam festival) of Igbo speaking community in Lagos.

Constructive Engagement, Power Balancing Will Manage Secessionist Agitation – FCT Ohanaeze Ndigbo Leader

0

The President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, FCT chapter, Nze Ifeanyichukwu Obasi-Nwaeze has said the secessionist agitation in the South East region will be reasonably fought if there is constructive engagement with the government as well as balancing in power, employment, and appointment.

Nze Nwaeze, a legal practitioner who spoke in an interview with ABN TV in Abuja said there is a need for enquiry as to how the government has balanced employment in accordance with the 1999 Constitution as amended, especially in the FCT. This he describes as constructive engagement with the government.

According to him, when issues are well presented, it paves way for the window of solution.

Barr. Nwaeze further emphasised that when the South West region of the country had a similar sense of marginalisation like the Igbos, which he attributed to fuelling the secessionist agitation in the region, they were reconciled with a Presidential office in 1999.

He said there is a need for reconciliation and pacification of Ndigbo, just like their South West counterparts.

This he said among other things should come by way of allowing the South East region to produce the next President of the country.

“I think time has come for that reconciliation. And that reconciliation can be actualized by allowing an Igbo man to come and repair the country.

“Check a man’s family and check his performance, either in politics or any other office. It is his performance that speaks.

“What you are able to do in your family, you replicate even in higher stage. Your functional potential is determined by your performance in the enclave.

“So if the Igbo man has shown that he is able to succeed even in the worst of climate, then it means what we are passing through is child’s play to an Igbo man when he comes up,” he said.

He faulted the government over the use of military force to subdue secessionist agitation in the South East spearheaded by Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, leader of Indigenous People of Biafra IPOB.

According to the Ohanaeze leader, negotiation should have been the most workable option to manage the situation.

If All Political Parties Should Zone Their 2023 Presidential Tickets To South East, Can Douse Separatist Agitation – Ex-DSS Boss, Nkemdirim Advices [VIDEO]

Chief Raymond Nkemdirim

A former Director Operations of the Department of State Services, DSS, Chief Raymond Nkemdirim has said brute force alone will not end the separatist agitation going on in the Southeast geopolitical zone, calling on government to take corrective actions politically to douse the tension, ABN TV reports.

Speaking at his home in Abuja on Saturday when a delegation of Igbere TV management paid him a visit to inform him of his nomination for award of Outstanding Security Achievement, Nkemdirim who retired as the Director Operations in the Service after 35 years said the agitation is caused by a number of factors, including marginalization.

He insisted that until these are addressed and every region of the country given a sense of belonging, force alone is not enough to quell the crisis.

He said there a mindset of marginalization which shooting alone cannot address, adding that wrong political actions in the past has heightened the call for a separate nation, Biafra.

Nkemdirim particularly mentioned the issue of political appointment that did not represent Federal Character as one of the factors that need to be addressed.

He said out of the three regions of the country, only South East does not have a representation at the security circle of the current government, submitting that it creates a sense of alienation.

He also expressed concern that there has not been equity in the power balancing among the regions.

According to the security expert, while other regions of the country had at one time or the other produced the President, Southeast has not done so.

He therefore called on political parties not to zone their Presidential tickets elsewhere ahead of 2023 election apart from the Southeast to reduce the call for a separate state.

At Wedding Of Fayose’s Son, Makinde Advises Nigerians Not To Die For Politicians

0

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has warned Nigerians against dying for politicians.

He gave the warning at the wedding of one of the sons of former Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State.

Despite their political differences, Makinde was one of the guests at the wedding, which held in Lagos on Saturday.

Makinde and Fayose had been locked in a battle for the control of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the South West.

Also at the wedding of Fayose’s son were Governor Kayode Fayemi, a former political rival of Fayose, and former Governor Olusegun Oni, who fell out with Fayemi at the last governorship election in Ekiti.

Oni had lost out in the race to clinch the APC ticket for the governorship election which was won by Fayemi.

Commenting on the presence of the key politicians, including Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers, at the wedding, Makinde said, “If you look at the former governors in Ekiti State – Governor Segun Oni, Governor Ayo Fayose and the incumbent Governor Kayode Fayemi, they have governed the state at one time or the other but they were not in the same party. So, those of you who want to die because of us politicians, be careful.

“Politics is not something that should cause anybody to lose his or her life. We are moving towards the electioneering period, and I just want to use this opportunity to appeal to you all.

“If you also look at this marriage, the bride and groom are from Christian and Muslim families. So, people who also want to always fight on religious grounds should have a rethink.”
