Journalists on Monday stormed the police headquarters in Abuja to protest over the continued disappearance of their colleague Tordue Salem, a journalist with Vanguard Newspapers.

Mr. Salem, who is a native of Tiv, Benue State, covers the House of Representatives.

He was last seen on October 13, 2021.

The NUJ chapter in Abuja had earlier raised an alarm over his sudden disappearance.

They asked the police and DSS to help unravel the mystery surrounding Mr. Salem’s whereabouts.

“For all us journalists in Abuja, we have been on edge these past few days over the mysterious disappearance of our colleague and friend, Mr. Tordue Salem,” the statement, signed by the union’s Chairman, Emmanuel Ogbeche and Secretary, Ochiaka Ugwu, said.

“It is worrying that an adult will simply vanish into thin air without a trace. This is unacceptable and we urge the police and DSS to rise up to the occasion and provide answers to this troubling situation”.

However, during Monday’s protest at the police headquarters in Abuja, the Police PRO addressed the crowd, saying efforts are ongoing to locate Mr. Salem, and assured that the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Usman Baba is interested in the case and would see it to the end.

President Buhari Officially Launches e-Naira

0

President Muhammadu Buhari has officially launched e–Naira, the Nigerian digital currency in Abuja, ABN TV reports.

Present were the Vice-President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo and the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Godwin Emefiele.

ABN TV reports that the eNaira will be an electronic version of the local paper naira currency, equal in value and issued by the CBN. Nigerian authorities say the currency is not intended to replace cash but will function as a safe and efficient alternative means of payment.

The eNaira will be a Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC), issued by the government, and it will have the same value as the paper, or fiat, currency.

CBDCs differ from cryptocurrencies in being regulated and therefore subject to banking laws. They are issued by a central authority and are therefore trusted by traders. The CBN issued its regulatory guidelines for the eNaira on 1 October.

As the eNaira has the same value as the physical naira, its value will rise or fall in relation to the dollar in the same way as the fiat currency.

I’m Fulfilled With My Role In Checking Terrorism — Ex-DSS Director, Nkemdirim [VIDEO]

A former Director (Operations) in the Department Of State Services, DSS, Chief Raymond Nkemdirim has said remembering his contributions during his years of service in breaking the backbone of terrorism gives him joy, ABN TV reports.

While noting that such actions, which he said fall under his oath of secrecy with the Service helped in saving the country from totally being overtaken by terrorists, he added that they are being expanded upon.

Speaking on Saturday at his Abuja home when he hosted the management team of Igbere TV who were at his home to formally inform him of his nomination and voting for award of Outstanding Security Achievement, Nkemdirim who retired as an Assistant Director-General in the Service after 35 years of meritorious service said terrorists were given a bloody nose during his years of service in states like Kaduna, Kano, Sokoto, Kebbi and others, leading to them to flee to Borno where they made a stronghold.

While noting that a lot more could be done to totally wipe the terrorists out of existence in the country, he said new frontiers in technology will be of assistance in ending the insurgency war.

On how he rose through the ranks to the peak of his career in the country’s secret police service, Nkemdirim a philanthropist and a stakeholder in the hospitality industry said his skill in diplomacy, mind control among other things may have helped him.

“A lot of times, my colleagues who are even still in the service would come to me and ask ‘oga how did you do it. We never saw you shout for one day but everything moved well. A lot of times we shout but you, even if you are told a whole building is engulfed in flames, you always take it calmly and forge ahead’.

“It means that people should be able to appreciate situations. They should not overreact or react to situations on the spot at the moment.

“Whatever comes your way, take time and appraise it. That is what an intelligence officer is trained to do. When you get information, for instance, information does not become intelligence unless it is processed” he said.

He also cited proactiveness in nipping potential security threats in bud as the then Director of Operations as high points of his career.

Igbere TV Leadership Excellence award

Nkemdirim is among the 30 Nigerians who will be awarded at various categories of national service in the Igbere TV Leadership Excellence award scheduled to take place on November 2, 2021 at Sheraton Hotel Abuja.

As A Man Don’t Be Too Quick To Tell A Woman These 3 Things

0

The emotions of women are generally aroused by what they hear than what they see. A man ought to be careful and choose the words he tells a lady at different levels in a relationship.

Evey relationship has 3 zones; the suspicion zone, the confidence zone and the familiarity zone. The familiarity zone is the deepest level of any relationship where trust and confidence has been built. That is the stage where a man can be free to say anything to the lady since he’s sure to have gained her love, trust and confidence.

When the relationship is still in the suspicion and confidence zone or when a man has not yet completely gained the assurance of love and trust of a woman, he ought not to tell her certain things inorder for him not to be vulnerable incase the relationship falters along the line.

Below is a list of 3 things you should not be too quick to tell a woman.

1. Don’t be too quick to confess your emotions to her. Confessing your love to a woman when you’re not yet sure that the seed of love is also growing in her could be very dangerous. Since women are emotional beings, the attitude of confessing your love to her when you are not yet sure of her affection for you could only build up compelled emotions that are not a crucial sign of love. Allow the seed of love to grow in her until it germinates and becomes visible before you can confidently confess your emotions. It is safer to take a step at a time.

2. Don’t be too quick to ask her to be your wife or girlfriend if you both are still new in the relationship, especially when you’ve not known her real character. Be patient and study the lady’s character before asking her out. Most ladies exhibit some traits that you may not be able to condone but some other guys could.

3. Don’t be too quick to tell her your income except she is your wife. Don’t always assume or predict that a woman is all yours until you’ve paid her bride price and done the necessary traditional rites. Telling her your income especially when you are a high income earner could make her see you as the solution to her financial problems and that could be the only reason why she wants to stick around you.

The Peoples Democratic Party National Convention Organizing Committee has said the convention slated for October 30-31 will go ahead as scheduled in spite of an action instituted at the Kaduna High Court to stop it.

Chairman of the Committee and Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, said this in a statement titled, “Statement by the PDP National Convention Organizing Committee Regarding the Case Instituted at the High Court in Kaduna to Prevent the PDP from Holding its National Convention on October 30 and 31, 2021,” which he signed on Sunday.

He said the committee was alerting “members of our party and members of the public that we are aware of the actions of a few misguided PDP members who have approached the High Court in Kaduna in an attempt to prevent our great party, the PDP from holding its National Convention on October 30 and 31, 2021.

“Notwithstanding their right to approach a court of competent jurisdiction to air their grievances, we maintain that the National Executive Committee of the PDP has acted in good faith in fixing our convention for October 30 and 31. It is not meant to witch-hunt anyone or to truncate anyone’s mandate.”

The statement further read, “Therefore, we call on all members and supporters of the PDP to ignore this distraction as we prepare to host a convention that will send a clear signal to Nigerians that the PDP is the only party that has the will and the might to rescue Nigeria from the catastrophe that we have been enduring for the past six years.

“We are aware that a clearly united PDP is a threat to the forces that seek to divide us. Therefore, we urge our teeming supporters nationwide to keep the faith as we are taking all necessary measures to ensure that we will not be distracted from our goal.”

The committee, he said, was determined to strengthen the party structure and put in the work needed to unify and restore Nigeria back on the path to economic prosperity and greatness.

PFN Cautions Christians Against Amplifying Nigeria’s Problems, Calls For Prayers

0

The Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) yesterday in Abuja cautioned Christians against amplifying the country’s problems and challenges but to pray ceaselessly for the nation and its leaders.

“Christians should not amplify the challenges or problems of the country, but pray and fill the vacuum of worries and anxieties with prayers.

“God is showing mercy to our country and we shall prevail if we the people do not relent in prayers or give excuses not to pray,’’ PFN president, Bishop Wale Oke, said while giving the charge.

It was at the end of a three-day Anchor Men’s conference of the PFN themed “In His Presence.’’

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the conference was part of an Anchor Business Breakfast Meeting organized annually by the Men’s Fellowship of Family Worship Centre (FWC) in Abuja.

Oke advised Christians, especially Christian men not to lose close contact and relationships with God, His words and His presence.

According to him, Christians, especially real Christian men should not lose their place in God’s presence, because it is in God’s presence that men will get clear directions for life.

“According to Philippians 4:6 in the Holy Bible, God says be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayerful and supplicate with thanksgiving; let your requests be made known to God.

`This is the will of God, so instead of worrying and amplifying the challenges, pray about everything and watch God intervene,’’ he said.

Oke said that it was only when men sought God’s guidance and directions to lead that they would be able to lead rightly and righteously.

He added that where kings could not do anything, where the military was paralysed, and the economy could not be sustained, it was only the Word of God through prayers that would make a difference in the country.

Pastor Oke prayed for peace and an ease of tension in all the regions of the country and in all spheres of governance.

At the conference were Mr. Boss Mustapha, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation who is also the Chairman of the Anchor Men’s Fellowship, branch pastors of FWC and other ministers of God.
