The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC has denied media reports that its staff posed for photo op with the billionaire socialite, Obi Cubana, saying there is no truth in such report.

The commission was reacting to a social media report with the headline, “EFCC Crew poses for quick photograph with billionaire socialite and businessman Obi Cubana”.

In a statement on Friday obtained by ABN TV from Wilson Uwujaren, Head, Media & Publicity of EFCC, the commission said the caption is as fake as any fake news can ever be, insisting that at no time during his ongoing investigation, period in custody or release did Obi Cubana pose for photographs with EFCC staff.

According to EFCC, one Uncle Deji, a popular security analyst, using his social media handle, has further debunked the fake news, saying,

“This post is deliberately misleading, this picture was taken 7th October 2021 during a book launch of Colonel Chukwu Obasi at Nigerian Army Resource Centre in Abuja in which Obi Cubana attended as a guest”.

It added, “Members of the public are therefore advised to ignore the fake news and misleading imputation which has been traced to the social media account of Sabi Radio (sabiradio), which first went to town with the fake news at 1.06 pm on 5 November, 2021. Sabiradio’s watermark is telltale on the photograph.

“The Commission shall not hesitate to take urgent necessary steps to address this and other fake news seeking to drag EFCC’s hard-won name and professional reputation in the mud.”

Member representing Ikwuano/Umuahia North and Umuahia South Federal Constituency, Hon. Sam Ifeanyichukwu Onuigbo, has commiserated with the family of Ex-Head of State, Late Major Gen. J T U Aguiyi-Ironsi whose wife, Victoria, will be buried on Friday the 5th of November 2021 at her Umuahia country home in Abia state.

The lawmaker in a release made available to ABN TV on Thursday expressed grief over mama Victoria’s death, saying the woman she described as ‘graceful woman of inestimable dignity’ will be missed, urging those she left behind and indeed everyone to be consoled by the quantum of fond memories that Mama left in the sands of time.

He said, “On behalf of my family, the good people of great Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency and other Abians, I commiserate with this great family in their time of grief as Mama is committed to mother Earth at the ripe age of 97.”

He added further, “I call on the family to uphold those beautiful legacies which their mother left as she clearly impacted positively on humanity.”

The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB has decided to revoke its one-week sit-at-home order across the South-East at the last minute.

IPOB said this decision was taken after several consultations with elders and traditional and religious leaders from the region. Director of Media and Publicity of IPOB, Emma Powerful, released a statement on the new directive.

“The leadership of IPOB, ably led by Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, hereby and immediately call off the one-week sit-at-home earlier declared to commence November 5 to November 10,” Mr. Powerful said.

“We, therefore, urge all Biafrans and residents of Biafra to go about their lawful businesses without fear of any molestations. All agents of darkness recruited by our enemies to inflict pain on our people under the guise of enforcing the sit-at-home are hereby warned to steer clear or brace up for the consequences of their evil action.”

The spokesperson also urged the people of Anambra to exercise their political right as citizens to vote in the state election this Saturday.

“Anambrarians should vote and standby to protect their votes. No rigging of any kind will be tolerated. It must be transparent, free, and fair to all,” he said.

“The people of Anambra should go out en-masse and peacefully exercise their franchise on Saturday and accordingly, chose a leader of their choice. They should not be intimidated by anybody, group of persons or security agents.”

A one-time Commissioner for Information, Youth, Sports and Culture, Kwara State, Chief Jide Adebayo, is dead.

ABN TV learnt that Adebayo died in a Lagos hospital on Thursday at the age of 66 during a brief illness.

Retired Major-General Lasisi Abidoye, a close friend of Adebayo, confirmed this in a statement on Friday morning.

Adebayo, until his death, was the Eesa of Omu-Aran, second-in-command to the traditional ruler of the community, which is equivalent to the position of Prime Minister of Omu-Aran.

He was Executive Director in charge of Marketing, one time Head of Lagos Operations, former Acting Managing Director of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), and a Commissioner for Information, Youth, Sports and Culture, Kwara State (1999).

Abidoye described Adebayo as “a fine journalist and a community leader per excellence, who will be greatly missed.

“Chief Eesa was a promoter of peace and unbiased community leader.

“He was an epitome of a good leader, a honest and God fearing fellow.”
