0

President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed sadness over the deaths of Brigadier General Dzarma Zirkusu and other soldiers.

The officers were killed in an ambush by fighters of the Islamic State in West Africa Province (ISWAP).

The President, in a statement issued Saturday by his media aide, Garba Shehu, said the deceased paid the supreme sacrifice in a very rare display of gallantry as they tried to help their compatriots in the war against terrorists.

Buhari, who urged the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Faruk Yahaya to accept his heartfelt condolences and that of the nation, conveyed same to the members of the families of those martyred.

“Nigeria has lost brave soldiers. I salute their courage. May their souls Rest In Peace. General Zirkusu leaves us sad and devastated. The soldier in him will remain immortal.

“I pray to the Almighty to give you and the bereaved families the strength and courage to bear this irreparable loss,” said the President in the statement titled “President Buhari, Nation Mourn Martyred General.”

Customers Hail Quality Of Products On Display During Made-In-Aba Trade Fair In Abuja

0

Customers on Saturday, expressed satisfaction with the quality of products displayed by the exhibitors at the ongoing 8th edition of Made-In-Aba Trade Fair in Abuja.

The customers, in separate interviews with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) also expressed delight for extending the event earlier scheduled to end Nov. 13. until Nov 16.

The trade fair organised by Sen. Enyinnaya Abaribe in partnership with Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) is with the theme “Harnessing Business Opportunities Beyond Covid-19 Drawbacks’’.

While commending the exhibitors for presenting high quality goods at affordable prices, they urged the Federal Government to provide the necessary infrastructure, particularly electricity to promote the activities of MSMEs in Nigeria.

Mrs Treasure Adeyinka, a staff member of Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) described the products as surpassing the expectations and very affordable compared to prices from regular stores.

“This has shown that Nigeria is developing. Our products are beautiful enough to be exported and sold to other countries. We should be proud of our artisans.

“The trade fair is an eye-opener for anyone who has Nigeria’s interest at heart and every effort must be in place to make Made-in-Aba products a first option for all,’’ Adeyinka said.

Mr Ernest Cosmas, CEO of Fresh Boutique, described the trade fair as the best place to source for products and update personal wardrobes as the goods were of high standard.

Cosmas noted that besides less prices, the goods conformed to modern designs.

“I take up opportunities like the fair to restock my shop because I know that the products are durable and cheap.

“I can easily get trendy products for my clients,’’ he said.

Cosmas, however, expressed disappointment at the turnout of customers.

“I stepped out in a hurry thinking that I had already missed the better part of the fair. I expected the venue to be filled with people patronising one item or the other.

“It only goes to show that many people do not know the value of the products brought closer to them all the way from Aba,’’ he said.

Cosmas called for more awareness to attract increased patronage.

Also, Mrs Kelechi Uzoma, described the fair as a platform for the celebration of Nigeria’s craftsmanship.

`The fair showcases our ankara-made products which are an integral part of our identity as Nigerians.

“The resources generated from the products of our hands cannot be limited.

“Majority of what is placed on display was created without the aid of industrial machines.

“Imagine the industry that can be created if the equipment were acquired,” she said.

Uzome pointed out that Aba-made products were natural resources yet to be fully mined and discovered.

Miss Elizabeth Irabor, a member of the National Youth Service Corp (NYSC), expressed delight at change in the closing date.

She stressed that the new date would offer a second opportunity to customers yet to visit the trade fair.

“This is a chance to come with my friends and family as they are not aware of the trade fair. It is an opportunity for us to get one or two items for Christmas and New Year celebrations,” she said.

Abaribe, who is the facilitator of the trade fair, had stressed that Made-in-Aba goods were receiving global acceptance due to improved qualities thus the need to stimulate increased patronage.

According to him, the trade fair will provide a platform for the artisans to deepen their market and improve the quality of the goods produced locally.

Abaribe added that the trade fair would be a celebration of success in the advancement of Nigerian made goods.

“Our focus is in the finishing, packaging of the products and efforts to raise the quality of goods made in Aba and by extension goods made in Nigeria,’’ he said.

While commending the Federal Government for emphasising the need to buy goods made locally, Abaribe said that the country needed to look inwards to grow its economy.

“Because of emphasis on making sure that we buy locally-made goods, effects of COVID-19 pandemic and the general economic down turn, we have no options now than to look inwards.

“It is important to find a way of ensuring that we do not spend our scarce foreign exchange in importing products that we can make in this country,’’ the lawmaker stressed.

NAN reports that no fewer than 90 exhibitors are participating in the trade fair. (NAN)

After Visiting Ben Kalu Who Gave Him Multiple Bloody Nose At Electoral Contest, Chima Anyaso Reveals His Mission [Photos]

By Chinedum Ibeh,

While political watchers were still hailing the serially defeated PDP’s Chima Anyaso for his courage in what appeared to be a visit of bridge building to member representing Bende Federal Constituency, Abia State Hon. Benjamin Kalu, Anyaso has finally revealed his mission at the visit, saying he was merely acting a script.

Recall that Hon. Benjamin Kalu of the APC trounced Anyaso of the PDP in the 2019 race to represent the people of Bende Federal Constituency after losing in a celebrated radio debate he organised .

Infuriated by the bloody nose he suffered in the hand of the now spokesperson of the House of Representatives, Chima Anyaso approach the electoral petition tribunal in Abia where again Benjamin Kalu trounced him.

Undeterred and fixated with pipe dream of claiming his imaginary mandate, again Anyaso approached Court of Appeal sitting in Owerri, seeking annulment of Hon. Benjamin Kalu, a mission he failed woefully to achieve as Ben Kalu finally buried his dream of representing the people through the back door after his rejection at the polls.

Still deeply pained that he has eaten the humble pie, earlier in the year through a stooge, one little known Ezeala Okechukwu, instituted a suit seeking the annulment of Hon. Benjamin Kalu’s election on the ground that he was ‘not qualified’ to contest the election, alleging that his primary school certificate was forged.

Like several other desperate attempts, he failed and the court struck out the case for lacking in merit. This was after the court also threw out his suit to be joined to the okey Ezeala’s sponsored matter .

After the six epic wins against him, Anyaso in the company of Obinna Chidoka, a member of House of Representatives visited his nightmare, Hon. Kalu on Thursday in Abuja.

The broad minded and civil Hon. Kalu a day after the hypocritical visit of Anyaso wrote, “I have always believed that politics without rancor or bitterness is a sure way to progressive leadership and productivity, and this will not be changing anytime soon.

“Yesterday, I received one of my constituent whom I represent, and an opponent in the 2019 general elections, Chima Anyaso accompanied by a mutual friend Rep. Obinna Chidoka both of the PDP.

“Despite the distractions he has brought to me in the past two years of my administration, I will continue to emphasize that we are first brothers before politics and this is why we will put our differences asides when necessary.

“It was my pleasure to have him acknowledge the work we are doing in the constituency and for once accepted that Bende made the right choice with his encouragement for me to keep up the good work.”

https://youtu.be/zD9pnw6PIXc

The real reasons Anyaso embarked on the infantile visit however was blown open as he posted on his WhatsApp group ( Chima Anyaso Mandate, where he addresses his supporters ) that he had gone there to act a movie script without a genuine intention contrary to what Hon Ben Kalu who warmly received him thought.

Declaring himself a ‘winner’ he alluded to his substanceless height and his hand across the shoulder of Hon Benjamin Kalu as meaning ‘remaining on top’.

He said, “I remain the winner and always on top as shown in this picture. I’m the movie director. Will play another one when i decide to. Make una enjoy una weekend oh @… is good you are in touch with all of them.”

Disappointed by this public show of shame, an indigene of Igbere his community in Bende Federal constituency who gave his name as Chinonso Obasi took a swipe at the multiple defeated Anyaso, saying height is not an indication of a man with substance or capacity even at that our Representative is not a short man at 6.2 ft. This man keeps disgracing our people with his desperation accept defeat and be humble we are bored with his desperate moves. He actually invaded the privacy of the Honourable member and recoded him without his permission and the next thing it is all over the news . What a rude , disrespectful and despicable act”?

“Read his lines ‘I remain the winner and always on top as shown in this picture’.
What an infantile expression ? You lost 6 times and still calling your self a winner ? Abeg winner of what ? Of bloated ego and pride ?

“When all of us thought he went on a matured visit to the honourable member as a brother that the honourable member took him for , all the while we did not know he was merely acting a script he was directing . Again read how he described himself “ I AM THE MOVIE DIRECTOR … “ so to him he believes bende and her future is a small movie and he is in Nollywood , no wonder Bende rejected him and will repeat same over and over again because we are not looking for movie stars and directors we had many before now and currently too ; the great Ukonu club , the famous Clarius etc . Chima Anyaso join the Nolly wood club and stop wasting your long legs and long hands use them well in plays not politics , politics and leadership needs brains not how tall you are .

“Your assessment of strength is how tall you are not how sound your mind and brain are and until you build your mind you will never lead Bende of great minds . Oh that was why you begged to put your hand on his shoulder to compare heights ? Wow ! We are more interested in the power of the brain than the length of your legs . Being taller you should be educated enough to know it does not make you on top . Our rep is tall enough at 6.2 you could be 10.5 and yet be under where he has kept you . Your height has been deceiving you. Only your legs are long not your tiny brain .

“He called himself a movie director , not tomorrow he will deny. From today you are the movie director . Read him again;” I WILL PLAY ANOTHER ONE WHEN I DECIDE TO. “

“At least we now know you take Bende as a cinema hall and we all as the spectators waiting for your new movie for us to watch . We will keep watching you while you keep “ PLAYING”. Bende people don’t need players like you . Player Bring the next play on and we will watch you for free because you are bad at the movies you are directing they not worth our hard earned penny . Stop shaming great Igbere people we don’t behave like you . We are like Orji kalu in politics he failed twice and moved on and today he is in a higher position . You failed once and you are disturbing us , watch you will fail again with your movie since Bende is a theatre for you “

House Of Reps Member Sleeping With My Wife, Destroyed My Marriage – Nigerian Man [PHOTO]

Cyril Isong, a 36-year-old graduate of Information Technology at the Federal University of Minna, Niger State has accused a member of the House of Representatives of having an affair with his wife.

ABN TV learnt that Isong alongside some other persons kidnapped the rep in Abuja and took money from him in 2020. However, Isong said he kidnapped the unnamed legislator because he discovered that he was in an amorous relationship with his wife.

His narration: “I got married in 2017. The experience between 2017 and 2019 was awesome. I travelled all over the world with my beautiful wife, for business and pleasure. All was going on well until Covid-19 disrupted everything. We lost a lot of goods as a businessman and at one point, I was indebted.

“All of a sudden I noticed that my wife started locking her phones. Being a computer guru, I was able to tap into her line and started reading her discussion with different men. Reading text messages of how she begged men for money got me angry. The honourable was one of them.

“One day, he (legislator) visited our house pretending to be a family friend, unknown to him that I had read his chats with my wife. That was when I made up my mind to deal with him. I played along and collected his number.

“His visit led to the break-up of my marriage because when I confronted my wife, she got angry and packed out of the house.

“When my wife left, I bought a new line and contacted the honourable, pretending to be a woman. I contacted some cultists that I knew in school to help me arrange a beautiful girl who had a video call with the honourable. He fell into the trap.

“I told honourable that I hated sleeping in the hotel with a man that is not my husband. I invited him to a short-let apartment in an estate in Asokoro, where I paid N80,000 per night.

“On the agreed date, he came and we tied him up. I did not speak throughout so that he wouldn’t recognize my voice. We searched him and took all the valuables and cash found on him. He refused to call his family for more money. Rather, he requested our account number. But I knew that would implicate us. So, we untied him and allowed him to go. We did not beat him. It was at the police station that I learnt the boys that I hired took some dollars from his car”, he said.

Isong was arrested by operatives of the Force Intelligence Response Team (IRT) led by its Commander, DCP Tunji Disu, in Akwa-Ibom state, one year after the abduction of the House of Representative member.

The police accused him of being behind series of kidnap cases, allegations he confessed to.

The Minister of Works and Housing, Mr Babatunde Fashola, stated this on Friday during the unveiling of an online portal for the housing scheme in Abuja.

Also speaking later on Channels TV’s Hard Copy, he explained that “the conventional way was to print forms and tell people to come and buy the forms but we have had some experiences we don’t want to go back to, with that.

“I also have experience from my work at the sub-national level where we sold houses on an online platform; open, transparent, competitive, nothing to hide and it’s a similar platform we are replicating at the national level. It’s taking a little more time than before but as minister, I don’t want to be bogged down with petitions.

“I get petitions every day. And I don’t want to be bogged down with all those things, so, we want to open the system, get online and if you can pay, pay”.

Fashola added that projects are spread across the states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory, adding that the highest selling price is N16.19 million.

According to him, over 5,000 units of houses are at different stages of completion under the programme
