“Rangnick Must Be ‘The Enforcer’ To Build Great Man United Squad” – Pallister

0

Ahead of tonight’s Manchester United – Arsenal Premier League clash, former Manchester United centre-back, Gary Pallister, expresses his thoughts on the incoming Red Devils’ new manager, Ralf Rangnick, and the club’s season so far.

In an interview with Compare.bet Pallister also explains the reasons he is backing Harry Maguire, Sancho’s emergence, Pochettino, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and more.

Pallister On Rangnick’s impending arrival

“I think he’s [Rangnick] got to come in there and be the man, be the enforcer, and I’m sure he will be, and he’ll bring into place the way he sees the game being played and I think they’ll all know he’s the boss.”

“I don’t think he’s the type of manager who will be impressed just because you’ve got a great reputation – he’s looking to build a team, a team that’s going to fight for Manchester United and a team that’s going to win games for Manchester United.”

Pallister On expectations for the rest of the season

“We aren’t going to win the Champions League or the Premiership at this moment in time. The FA cup though? Yeah, on any given day the team could click, and we’ll be hoping Rangnick can get something out of the side. I wouldn’t say it’s impossible, but there are teams in better form so we’re not going to be favourites to lift a trophy at the moment.”

Pallister on ‘terrific’ Maguire

“I think he’s been terrific for United since he’s arrived. I think he’s a natural leader in that dressing room and a natural captain…I think Harry is a really good centre half and it’s just a shame the Varane partnership hasn’t had the chance to bear fruit in terms of playing a number of games together. That would’ve been the first choice pairing of centre backs.”

“It’s been uncharacteristic for him – he has made a few mistakes, the same with Luke Shaw and he was our player of the year last year, in fantastic form. You look at the Euros and wonder if that’s had an impact.”

“They’ve both been in good form but until the last few weeks when it
all went pear-shaped. The side looked devoid of confidence and belief, and everybody seems dragged down by it. I would have no worries about those two in the future”

On The emergence of Jadon Sancho

“I think we’ve been waiting for those performances. Listen, I know what it’s like to go to Manchester United with that expectation, and it
can be overwhelming”

“What we’ve seen over the last few games is that belief coming back. Goals help, obviously, but he’s not taking easy options now. He’s
driving at defences, and that’s what we saw at Dortmund – he’s creative, he can score goals. It can take time to get used to the
magnitude of Old Trafford. It’s a different beast to Dortmund, and he’s still a young lad, but we can see he’s starting to get the bit
between his teeth. When he does, we can see his talent.”

Why Poch might be a good fit for the permanent role

“I’ve always liked Pochettino. I hear people say he’s never won anything, but I saw him going into Southampton, changing their style of play and really having an impact. Then he went to Spurs and created the best Tottenham team that I’ve seen for thirty years… I think for a lot of people, Pochettino does tick a lot of boxes.”

On Aaron Wan Bissaka

“Yeah, I think… you look at modern day fullbacks and you probably
would expect a bit more from Wan Bissaka.

“Wan Bissaka is good at defending one on one, not many people get past him. As a centre-half, you want your defenders to defend, but the best ones can do it both ways. I think that’s something Wan Bissaka needs to improve on. I don’t think it’s just me saying that, I think everyone who looks at it wants more from him. Maybe that’s something Rangnick can help with. Gary Neville became a really good overlapping fullback and he was a centre-half. It wasn’t natural for him but he learned how to do it through good coaching, self belief, wanting to be better, and he took that onto the football pitch. Wan Bissaka’s got loads of pace but I want him to be more positive in the final third.”

“No One Can Work That Hard“ - Seun Kuti Reacts To Forbes Billionaire List

Seun Kuti, son of Afrobeat legend, Fela Kuti, has described Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s call for a peace walk as a political move to secure a second term in office.

Kuti said this in a video shared on his Instagram page while rejecting the governor’s invite for a ‘Walk for Peace’.

According to him, Sanwo-Olu is trying to save his political career, knowing that he cannot win a second term as governor due to the level of injustice in the state.

He advised youths not to be swayed by the governor’s move to secure a second term.

Kuti said: “This is a walk of shame. What Sanwo-Olu should say is that he will step down after his first term because this work is more than his power but no he wants to jump straight to peace.

“This walk of peace is an insult to martyrs. It is a walk for Sanwo-Olu’s political career, if this goes on we must declare work for justice.

“Sanwo-Olu cannot win second term in Lagos State , he knows his career as APC governor is over so he’s trying to build a new alliance and call himself governor of the people but that can’t happen.

“It is impossible for Sanwo-Olu to resign knowing that he is guilty. I am charging Sanwo-Olu with negligence that led to the loss of lives, he is guilty of that.”

Kuti insisted that the governor must work for justice before a walk of peace can happen, adding that the youths have not moved on from the End SARS protest.

“Work for justice Mr Governor that’s why we put you, there is no need to walk for peace is a by-product of a just society. Give justice and get peace

“You have to do things properly, dialogue with your people.”

Seun Kuti further advised youths not to fall for the tricks as this is a political move on Sanwo-Olu’s part which he cannot be part of.

“Justice is the only thing that can work for peace. Peace is not something you walk or march for.

“What is the point of power if you, our governor, cannot secure peace without march. Let justice work for peace that’s all,” he added.

Former Chelsea star, Chris Sutton has predicted Chelsea to finish on top of the Premier League table and win the title.

Sutton also predicted Manchester United to finish in the fourth position on the Premier League table this season.

“At the start of the season, I tipped Manchester City to win the Premier League, but that came with an asterisk,” Sutton told the Daily Mail.

“It was provided they completed the signing of Harry Kane [from Tottenham Hotspur], which, at the time, looked likely.

“Now that a third of the season has passed, I am leaning towards Chelsea, who did sign Romelu Lukaku. But let us be honest, any one of Chelsea, City and Liverpool could win it.

“But I sense that this will end up being a special season for Thomas Tuchel and that it’ll be dark blue ribbons getting tied to that trophy in May.”

He added: “We have got the three-horse race and bringing up the rear, although they look like a donkey right now, I am saying Manchester United will finish fourth.”

Arsenal boss, Mikel Arteta, has warned captain, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, that he cannot afford his current lack of confidence in front of goal to have a negative impact on the other aspect of his game for the Gunners.

Aubameyang has not scored a goal for Arsenal in their last five games.

The Gabonese international striker, who has missed his last two penalties for Arsenal, was praised for his work rate by Arteta and pundits during the early weeks of the season.

But Arteta has now told Aubameyang he cannot afford to let those energy levels drop, regardless of how many goals he is scoring for the North London club.

COAS Approves Indigenous Production Of 10,000 Combat Tactical Vests

The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya, on Wednesday said that he had approved the production of 10,000 units of RICKSHAW Combat Tactical Vests for effective operations of the Nigerian Army.

Yahaya said this through the Chief of Logistics, Major General Anthony Akintade, at the two-day 2021 Corps Commander Ordnance Annual Conference holding at the Headquarters, Nigerian Army Ordnance Corps, Abalti Barracks, Lagos State.

The conference with theme: “Repositioning Nigerian Army Ordnance Corps in Providing Effective Service Delivery Towards Sustaining Nigerian Army Assigned Missions,” will hold from December 1 to 2, 2021.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the RICKSHAW Combat Tactical Vests is produced by the NAOC and it contains a kit bag, fragmental jacket, map case, radio holder and a pistol carrier.

Yahaya said that the continuous dependence on imported military hardware in the face of dwindling national economy was impracticable with adverse effect on all operations.

He said: “Therefore, the NAOC has recently been mandated to produce RICKSHAW Combat Tactical Vests through its Kit Factory for the NA.

“This mutually benefiting option can in the long run, guarantee availability of adequate logistics for NA commitments at moderate cost to the government with a resultant boost in the national economy.

“The NA is therefore being ingenious in looking inwards to improve the availability of robust logistics for its numerous operations and other commitments.”

Yahaya said that the NA was also partnering with local industries to source for logistics items ranging from vehicles including Mine Resistant Ambush Protected vehicles to wide range of clothing stores among others.

He said: “The EZUGWU MRAP is a glowing testimony of the NA’s quest towards self-sufficiency.

“I assure my unwavering support to all ingenious efforts toward providing effective service delivery and logistics to the NA in all its operations.”

The COAS said that the NA was currently involved in several joint operations to tackle security challenges in the country such as insurgency, terrorism, kidnapping, pipeline vandalism among others.

According to him, the NA has significantly degraded the ranks of terrorists, insurgents, vandals and other miscreants thereby engendering relative peace across the country.

He said: “These successes have been made possible by the conduct of Operation KANTANA JIMLAN, FIRE BALL 1 and 2 and TURA TAKAIBANGO.

“Also, various ongoing exercises across the country such as Ex STILL WATER, Ex NUTCRACKER 2, Ex ENDURING PEACE and Ex DELTA DAWN among others have recorded significant successes.

“These operations and exercises have placed very high demand on logistics through the facilitation of robust force projection to tackle the challenges.”

The COAS expressed his gratitude to President Muhammadu Buhari for his strategic guidance and unrelenting support to the Nigerian Army.

“I must remind Commanders at all levels to continue to provide requisite leadership and ensure that their personnel are continually reminded of the need to always uphold the tenets of military professionalism,” Yahaya said.

NAN also reports that a free medical outreach was provided to the families of Ordnance personnel, the neighboring community and all participants.

A newly remodeled NAOC Officers’ Mess was also commissioned as well as a ground breaking ceremony for two new blocks of Officers’ transit accommodation.
