Nasarawa Housewife Reveals How Her Husband’s Teenage Son Impregnated Her

Mrs Justina Agbumi, a housewife in Nasarawa State, has narrated how she got pregnant for her husband’s biological son.

The woman, who blamed the incident on a frosty relationship with her husband, said things fell apart in her marriage after she was unable to conceive.

In a chat with The Nation, Agbumi said being childless for 19 years, she was curious to establish whether she was indeed barren.

She said she decided to put her fertility to test with the young man that was staying with them, not knowing he was the biological son of her husband.

Agbumi said her husband, who is now late, had brought in the young man and introduced him to her as one of his relatives from the village.

She said the relationship with her husband, which was once the envy of many, became laced with frustration because she was unable to conceive.

“It got to a point that I asked myself if I was still living with the same man I married. He suddenly became a beast, calling me barren, harlot and useless, just because I couldn’t take in.

“He was my best friend before we got married. We were ready to have children as quickly as possible so we could move on.

“But after five years and more, there was nothing. I didn’t take in, so I became worried.

“We went for several tests but we were told I had no problem but my husband had low sperm count and he needed to regulate his diet, which we did, but nothing changed.

“Because he is the only son, his mother had already become hostile to me, visiting regularly from the village while my husband also joined her in frustrating me.

“Before then, I visited places my faith would ordinarily not permit to, because all I wanted was a child. Yet nothing came out of it.

“That was how I started living alone. I cried daily but that didn’t bring any succour.

“One day, I got an idea and decided to test my fertility with another man. I realised that would be adultery of the highest order, but I also felt it would be lesser sin if it was with my husband’s relation who was staying with us. I drew the young man closer and made him my best friend since my husband had stopped making love to me for close to seven months.

“Luring Godwin to start sleeping with me was a difficult decision but I was also considering my age.

“I had never cheated on my husband before, but I had reached the limit of my endurance and the circumstances around me was not in my favour.

“I concluded that I would test my fertility through Godwin. I had seen Godwin’s crotch during house cleaning, so I realised that his manhood was big enough to give me satisfaction, though he was only about 17 years old.

“I started admiring him anytime my husband went to work. I would summon courage and make advances to him, drawing him closer to me with petty items.

“In no time, he succumbed and we started having sex, though he was not too perfect because he had not been into it.

“But I was teaching him. I also warned him never to reveal it and threatened to kill him if he opened up to anybody.

“We progressed in that direction, especially during my ovulation period. In no distant time, he was able to impregnate me. I missed my period three months after.

“I was very happy that the plan to test my fertility worked and that what my husband could not do for years, Godwin did within a short time.

“One fortunate thing was that Godwin himself did not know that he was responsible for it. Unfortunately for me, I didn’t know that Godwin was actually the biological son of my husband. The entire family hid it from me so that I would not victimise him.”

A twist had occurred in the matter when Godwin secured admission into the College of Education, Akwanga, and was travelling to commence registration when he had an accident that claimed his life.

“He died before I was delivered of a baby boy.”

Three Smugglers Who Imported 661 Pump Action Rifles Bag 16-Year Jail Term

A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos on Friday convicted and sentenced a retired Customs Officer, Mahmud Hassan, and two others, to a total of 16 years imprisonment for conspiracy and unlawful importation of 661 Pump Action rifles, unlawful importation of prohibited firearms, forgery, uttering of forged documents, and bribery.

Others convicted and sentenced to jail terms by Justice Ayokunle Faji led-court are Oskar Okafor; and Mahmud’s company, Hassan Trades Limited.

Justice Ayokunle Faji, however, acquitted and discharged Abdulahi Danjuma of all charges.

The fourth defendant in the case, Mr. Donatus Ezebunwa Achinulo, had been discharged and acquitted on a no-case submission stage on February 7, 2020.

The trial lasted almost four years in the course of which the first prosecutor, Mr. Julius Ajakaye, and one of the defence counsel, Adamu Ibrahim, passed on.

Justice Faji while delivering judgment in a charge brought against the convicts on count two of the offence of illegal importation of 661 Pump Action rifles into the country, sentenced them to eight years imprisonment each on the said count.

On count one which was on conspiracy, Justice Faji found the first, second and third defendants guilty and also sentenced them to eight years imprisonment each.

The judge also ordered the forfeiture of the properties of the convicts to the Federal Government of Nigeria as provided for by the law under which they were charged.

He also ordered that the company, Hassan Trading Limited, be used as a vehicle to smuggle, be windup and assets forfeited to FG.

Justice Faji, however, discharged and acquitted the fifth defendant.

While delivering the judgement, Justice Faji, said the offence committed by the convicts touches on the security of the country.

He added that although the relevant provisions of the law for the offence for which they were charged and convicted prescribed life imprisonment, the court, however, has discretion.

The trial judge said he would refrain from giving a maximum punishment, but that the convicts must be made examples to serve as a deterrent for other would-be criminals.

Justice Faji particularly frowned at the conduct of the second convict, a retired Customs Officer, saying that if the container was not intercepted and the guns fell into the hands of criminals in the society, the negative effect can only be imagined.

The convicts were arraigned before the court for illegally importing 661 pump-action rifles into the country.

The convicts, who were arraigned before Justice Ayokunle Faji are Mahmud Hassan, Oscar Okafor, and Salihu Danjuma, while the fifth defendant, Matthew Okoye, was said to be at large.

In the charge, the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice said the accused brought the rifles from Turkey through the Apapa Port in Lagos.

He added that they were imported in a 40-feet container, which they falsely claimed to be steel doors.

The convicts were also alleged to have forged a number of documents, including a bill of lading, a Form M, and a Pre-Arrival Assessment Report to facilitate the smuggling of the said rifles.

According to the prosecution, they also forged a bill of lading issued in Istanbul on January 9, 2017, falsely claiming that it was issued in Shanghai, China.

He said their intention was to evade the payment of customs duty by filling “steel door” as the content of the container instead of rifles.

They were also said to have allegedly offered a bribe of N400, 000, 00, to an official of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) attached to the Federal Operative Unit to avoid a “100 percent search on the container with number PONU 825914/3.”

The prosecution also alleged that the first convict, Hassan, corruptly gave N1 million to government officials at the Apapa Port to prevent the search by customs officials.

In the last count, the AGF accused the convicts of illegally importing several double-barreled shotguns, pump-action rifles, and single-barreled shotguns into the country through Lagos, without lawful authority between 2012 and 2016.

They, however, pleaded not guilty when the charges were read to them.

The judge said the sentence shall run concurrently; the convicts were sentenced on count one and two other counts struck out

Uzodike Urges IPOB, Ndigbo To Stop Actions That Will Increase Their Marginalisation

Foremost industrialist, Chief Dr Ajulu Uzodike, yesterday said that Ndigbo can still do better and live above their obvious marginalization in Nigeria if they refrain from actions that also worsen their marginalization by the Federal government of Nigeria.

Speaking with Vanguard in an interview in his house in Otolo Nnewi, Anambra State, Chief Uzodike also said that Igbo do not depend on government for their sustenance, survival and upkeep, adding that government is more or less a hindrance than a help to Ndigbo and the Igbo’s should bear that in mind and live above their feeling of obvious marginalization to better their situation in Nigeria.

Chief Uzodike who also pointed out some cases where Igbo’s have in spite of their obvious marginalization by the Federal government of Nigeria, shot themselves on the legs, appealed to those who are behind the insecurity in South East and those still enforcing the Indigenous People of Biafra IPOB’s suspended Monday weekly sit-at-home to halt their action because it is against Ndigbo and amounts to another shooting themselves on the legs.

He said that while it is clear that the Federal government of Nigeria has continued the obvious marginalization of Ndigbo in Nigeria, the Igbo’s should be blamed for some actions that have worsened their marginalization because of the selfishness of the present and past leaders whose only target is the largesse from Federal government.

While totally accepting that the cause the IPOB is agitating for is right and cannot be faulted, he said that the pro-Biafra group should review their current style of civil disobedience because rather than hurting the Federal government who is their target, it is rather hurting the Igbo’s and worsening their obvious marginalization in Nigeria.

“What Ndigbo should be doing now in Nigeria is to capitalize on what is happening in the North to better their situation, the current Nigerian situation would have been a fantastic opportunity for the Igbo race to move forward, the North has been unified all along but they are in disorder now, it would have been a nice opportunity if we are unified to get many things to our advantage and move a lot of the marginalization out of us but instead we are shooting ourselves on the legs.

Although the cause IPOB is fighting for is right but the action they are taking will worsen the situation Ndigbo already found themselves in Nigeria. This IPOB style of civil disobedience where South East is constantly locked down and people made to sit-at-home will worsen the situation of Ndigbo who are already marginalized.

“We should however realize that in not just enough to tell the IPOB that their approach is wrong, leaders have to work out something that will work, it is lack of thinking and vision by Igbo leaders that the youths are doing what they are doing because of no good direction from elders.

“Instead of saying that we will secede from Nigeria, it is rather the other people that should be demanding for secession from us, what we should do is to define marginalization in concrete terms and seek redress from the Federal government.

“What IPOB and every person in South-East should be singing as a song is for us to be given our fair share from the federal government if they are federal appointment, infrastructure, allocation of admission in the Universities, military facilities, anything at all we demand our fair share otherwise we will not cooperate with Nigeria.

“We should equally set a system to prevent further marginalization which will include protection of any Igbo person anywhere found in Nigeria and in the world, not to tell people who by dent of hard work have made some form of success out of their life to sit-at-home on Mondays and any other day. Anybody who is attacking that Igbos means of livelihood, ostensibly is fighting the rest of the people and it is very wrong.

“So whether it is IPOB or any other group that is ordering people to sit-at-home on Mondays, the most important workday, they should rethink because it is not in the interest of Ndigbo, we know to be hardworking and do not depend on government for our sustenance, survival and upkeep, in fact, the government is more of a hindrance to Igbo’s than help.”

Nigeria Army In Fierce Battle Against Insurgents In Malam Fatori Borno State

Officers of the Nigerian Army on Friday engaged the Boko Haram insurgents at Malam Fatori, the border town headquarters of Abadam Local Goverment Area (LGA) in Borno state in the northeast region in a fierce battle.

ABN TV learnt that the terrorists attacked the army formation in Malam-Fatori Friday evening.

A 12-year-old conflict in northeast Nigeria has caused, directly and indirectly, the deaths of some 350,000 people, the vast majority of which are children below the age of five, the United Nations (UN) found in a report in June.

The death toll, given by the UN Development Programme (UNDP) in a study on the insurgency and its effect on livelihoods, is 10 times higher than previous estimates of about 35,000 based only on those killed in fighting in Nigeria since violence broke out.

Boko Haram launched an uprising in 2009 displacing more than two million from their homes and spawning one of the world’s worst humanitarian crises, with millions of people dependent on aid. The conflict shows little sign of ending.

Children younger than five account for some 324,000 deaths, more than nine out of 10 of those killed, with 170 dying every day, the UNDP said.

Of nearly 350,000 deaths from the conflict, it estimated 314,000 to have resulted from indirect causes.

In an effort to empower members of the society to self-reliance, Don Lulu Foundation has trained no fewer than 600 Abia youths and women on modern agriculture and methods to improve yield.

The agricultural empowerment exercise took place in conjunction with Lehae Farms limited.

At the graduation ceremony of the beneficiaries who were drawn from all ages and gender, their trainer Dr Emmanuel Mgbekwute revealed that the empowerment scheme which started earlier this year has its oldest student at 70 years and its youngest at 18 years.

This is the first set of beneficiaries to graduate from this exercise since it was launched this year, ABN TV gathered.

At the training which had in participation persons from various communities, beneficiaries were trained on rearing and production of agricultural products.

King of Ezeoba, Oba Iheanyichukwu Nwokenna was among those who facilitated the training.

According to Dr Mgbekwute, the students completed their scheme of work on agricultural training as designed by the founder of Don Lulu Foundation, Mayor Lucky Igbokwe.

Speaking at the event, Mayor Lucky Igbokwe stated that he was concerned by the poverty rate in the country, noting that it prompted him into thinking of ways to alleviate the scourge by empowering people.

“This is a little idea that has blossomed into what we are seeing today. According to the data we have in Nigeria, 60 per cent are in perpetual poverty. This is a sad situation. Our people are hardworking so what is keeping my people from being great? I thought about it and found out that empowerment can go a long way in bettering the lives of my people.

“I found out that agriculture will enrich the lives of people and provide the people with handiwork. We provided 60 participants in training and setting up their farms. With this, our people will become major suppliers and distributors of agricultural products.

“I sincerely thank the Oba for the free donation of land, I thank the facilitators. Don Lulu’s Foundation is of humanity and we must continue to educate and equip our people with what is needed to make our dreams a reality”, he said.

Eze Nwokenna thanked the people who graced the event, revealing that he was the first pro-chancellor of the University/foundation while stating that he, also, graduated from the School.

“I want to thank my son and friend, Mayor Igbokwe for having the mind to equip the people. You stated, in your speech, that you weren’t doing this for fame but you saw the level of poverty that your people were in and decided to step in and help.

“I want to thank the graduands for always coming for the training. The Mayor has paid 45 per cent of the total amount to start-up in equipping the people. There are a lot of people that will be moved to do this with what has been accomplished today.

“The Mayor never mentioned he wanted to contest for any election but to better the lives of his people. But it will be in your goodwill to support him if he decides tomorrow to contest for any election. The Mayor also mentioned that this process will continue in two senatorial districts, the Abia North and South,” he concluded.

Soldiers Battle Boko Haram Terrorists In Borno Town, Malam Fatori

Malam Fatori, Abadam Local Goverment Area, Borno State, is under heavy attack by Boko Haram terrorists.

Malam Fatori is one of the two LGAs without human activities where Governor Babagana Zulum had insisted on returning displaced persons by December 31.

There were 500 mobile police personnel deployed to clear the town in preparation for the return of 1,000 refugees from Niger republic.

This is besides the army base stationed in the deserted town and other security agents Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps and Department of State Services and the civilian JTF that were posted there to help in securing the town for the safe return of the refugees.

The mobile police crack team have since abandoned the town and returned to Maiduguri while the military personnel are still there.

Reports reaching ABN TV indicated the terrorists are engaging the army formation in Malam-Fatori Friday evening.

Miyetti Allah Accuses Police Of Arresting Its Members, Tagging Them Kidnappers

One of the umbrella bodies of herdsmen in Nigeria, the Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, has alleged that policemen along the Abuja-Kaduna Expressway are arresting innocent Fulani herders, branding them as kidnappers and forcing them to pay huge amounts of money as bail.

National Secretary of the group, Saleh Alhassan, pencilled this allegation in a statement on Friday. The statement was titled, ‘Arbitrary arrest and criminal extortion of Fulani herders’.

According to him, innocent Fulani herders grazing cattle in villages along the highway have been arbitrarily arrested by the police in recent times and they have had to cough out thousands of naira as bail.

The spokesman said constitutionally, bail is free “but for police personnel at Katari Police Station, situated along the Abuja-Kaduna Expressway, bail is for the highest bidder”.

“Suspects are forced to either pay for their freedom or they are tortured. The Police personnel are going about abducting our herders, branding them kidnappers or robbers, and forcing them to pay bail under torture.

“Our herders, who are undertaking their lawful ventures, have been victims of this arbitrary arrest and demand for bail.

“Many relatives of these herders have forcefully cough out N200,000 to 1.5 million naira to bail out their subjects from the hands of these police officers.

“This is unacceptable, and we demand immediate action.

“While we have already informed the police headquarters of these happenings, we felt it necessary to also let the world know this, in view of the growing hatred, stereotyping, and prejudices against our herders and Fulani ethnic group in the country,” the statement read in part.

Alhassan urged the police hierarchies to clamp down on the personnel allegedly involved in the act.

A text message sent by our correspondent to Force Public Relations Officer, Frank Mba, seeking police comments on the matter was not replied to as of the time of filing this report.

The Abuja-Kaduna Expressway is infamously one of the volatile highways in the country notorious for kidnapping, banditry, and other heinous crimes.

In September 2021, many Nigerians were aghast that the National Youth Service Corps in its handbook listed the Abuja-Kaduna Highway as one of the high-risk roads in the country, asking family members of prospective corps members to prepare ransom to be paid to criminals in case the young graduates are kidnapped.

A number of corps members have been kidnapped in recent months. The rate of kidnapping on major roads have forced many corps members to abandon road transportation and opt for air and rail transportation to connect their base to their states of posting which is usually outside their geopolitical zone.

But in October 2021, incorrigible bandits operating along the  Abuja- Kaduna road also bombed a rail track along the Abuja-Kaduna route. A Nigeria Railway Corporation train was subsequently attacked by the bandits and the driver of the train and the passengers had escaped by a whisker.

Many Nigerians are extremely disappointed in the regime of the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), who rode to power on the heels of combating the security challenges plaguing the country in 2015 but the situation seems to have been aggravated in the last six years.

The Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami (SAN), recently said kidnappers have also been declared as terrorists after a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja declared bandits as terrorists of late.

But beyond rhetorics and media grandstanding, many Nigerians want quick prosecution of kidnappers, insurgents and terror financiers including over 400 bureau de change operators arrested in Kano, Borno, Abuja, Lagos, Sokoto, Adamawa, Kaduna and Zamfara, whose files have been in the office of the AGF since the beginning of 2021.

The Speaker of Abia State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Engr Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji on Thursday attended the reception that followed the funeral service of Late Hon Chief Mrs Olileanya Edith Nwoha (JP), a former State Woman Leader of the People’s Democratic Party, at Community Primary School, Umuawa Alaocha, Umuahia North Local Government Area of Abia State.

Rendering his tribute to the bereaved family, Rt Hon Engr Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji described the deceased as a woman of unique charisma who lived a dutiful life and one who was distinguished during her dedicated stint in politics, the People’s Democratic Party as the State Woman Leader and in other various positions she held in the party.

“I value friendship a whole lot. Hon Olileanya’s huge support for my immediate family cannot be forgotten because she showed great zeal and commitment especially to Senator Theodore Ahamefule Orji CON in his political journey.

“So today I come to honour her”, the Speaker said.

Turning to the bereaved family, the Speaker promised to take care of the school fees of one of the daughters of Late Chief Mrs Olileznya Nwoha, Miss Chinwekele Emmanuel Nwoha who is a 200 level Law student of Ebonyi State University.

The Speaker said the educational support for Miss Chinwekele will run till she graduates.

The Speaker also promised to place husband of the deceased, High Chief Maduabuchi Nwoha OFG, on a special monthly salary.

Finally, the Speaker said his thoughts are with the family, prayed that God accepts Chief Mrs Nwoha’s soul in his bosom and grant the family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

On her part, Lady Odochi Mercy Orji, wife of Senator T.A Orji, former Governor of Abia State, in her tribute condoled with the family and described the deceased as a reliable political activist who broke the jinx in a male dominated vocation.

She urged the bereaved husband to hold his home firmly and pass the enviable attributes of his wife to the children. She prayed that God rest her soul and give the family the strength and comfort to accept the monumental loss.

Sen. Kalu Targets 300 Beneficiaries As His First Phase Of Christmas Giveaway Starts Saturday

Chief Whip of the Nigerian Senate, Sen. Orji Uzor Kalu has concluded arrangements to reach out to a minimum of 300 persons as first phase of his Christmas giveaway starts on Saturday.

The Abia North Senator said this is in response to the comments of his followers and spirit of the season.

In a Facebook post sighted by ABN TV on Friday, the former Abia governor did not however disclose the amount beneficiaries will be credited with as he said it’s a token.

He further noted that a little task will be required which will qualify participants to benefit.

He wrote, “In the spirit of the season and in response to some of your comments, the first phase of Christmas giveaway will kick off tomorrow.

“There will be 300 beneficiaries of little token each. To make it easier in selecting the beneficiaries, a little task will be required. When you succeed , please attach your account number and you will be credited immediately. It will kick off at 11am tomorrow.”

Why FG Has Not Built A Federal Secretariat In Abia — Rep Onuigbo Reveals

The member representing Ikwuano/Umuahia North/Umuahia South Federal Constituency of Abia State, Rep. Sam Onuigbo has said Abia is yet to have a Federal Secretariat located in it because it has not provided a certificate of occupancy to make it ready for use.

Speaking on a radio programme monitored by ABN TV on Friday, the federal lawmaker had said he made enquiry from the Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola during a budget defence on why Abia is yet to have a Federal Secretariat constructed in it.

According to Hon. Onuigbo, the Minister said the land initially allocated for the construction of a Federal Secretariat for Abia was encroached upon.

He revealed that he informed the state governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu who later facilitated a land for the construction of a Federal Secretariat.

Rep Onuigbo however said the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing is yet to mobilise equipment and manpower to the allocated land due to unavailability of certificate of occupancy.

Hon. Onuigbo said his engagements with the governor, Okezie Ikpeazu and that of Secretary to the State Government, Barr. Chris Ezem reveals that efforts are being made to provide a certificate of occupancy.

He expressed dissatisfaction that title documents have not been provided since over two years he started making efforts to ensure that Abia joins league of states who have a Federal Secretariat.

According to him, despite being number one alphabetically and being in existence before some other states that now boast of Federal Secretariat, Abia is yet to have one.

He appealed to the state government to hasten efforts to ensure that necessary documents are provided so that a Federal Secretariat is constructed, stating that it comes with a lot of benefits.

He insists that he will sustain efforts to ensure that title documents are provided to that effect.
