President Muhammadu Buhari returned to Abuja Sunday after a four-day official visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), where he participated in EXPO 2021 DUBAI.

The President was received on arrival at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, by government functionaries, led by his Chief of Staff, Professor Ibrahim Gambari.

While in the Middle Eastern country, President Buhari addressed a trade and investment forum at Dubai Expo 2020, organised by the Nigerian Arabian Gulf Chamber of Commerce, Nigeria’s Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, and the Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission.

At the forum, he had assured that Nigeria still remains the most viable and attractive investment destination in Africa, noting that the country is on the path of becoming the continent’s leading industrial and trading nation.

The president, who toured the Nigerian Pavilion at the Expo last Friday, met with His Highness, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces and Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of the Emirate of Dubai.

He was also the Special Guest of Honour at the special Trade and Investment Forum themed: Unveiling Investment Opportunities in Nigeria put together to mark the country’s presence at the gathering by the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment.

President Buhari was accompanied on the trip by the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama; Industry, Trade and Investment, Otunba Adeniyi Adebayo; Finance, Budget and National Planning, Hajia Zainab Shamsuna Ahmed; Defence, Maj.-Gen. Bashir Magashi (retd); Aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika; and Agriculture and Rural Development, Dr. Mohammad Abubakar.

Others are: Ministers of Health, Dr. Osagie Ehanire; Communications and Digital Economy, Dr. Isa Ali Pantami; Mines and Steel Development, Arc. How 8 Children Were Discovered Dead In Lagos Parked Vehicle (Disturbing Photos)

Eight children were found dead on Saturday inside a vehicle parked in a community along the Badagry Expressway in Lagos.

Residents told journalists the children who were between the ages of four and six years old had entered the Lexus SUV vehicle to play but mistakenly locked themselves inside and suffocated to death.

The vehicle was parked in front of the owner’s house.

The spokesman for the state police command, Adekunle Ajisebutu, who confirmed the incident said the children’s remains had been deposited at the Badagry General Hospital’s morgue for autopsy.

He said: “The eight children were said to have mistakenly locked themselves in an abandoned car while playing. Their bodies had been recovered and deposited at the Badagry General Hospital’s morgue for an autopsy so as to determine the actual cause of death.

“Notwithstanding the report made to the police, the Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, has ordered a thorough and speedy investigation into the circumstances surrounding the children’s death. The CP also commiserates with the families of the victims.”

Nigerian Pastor Reportedly Kills Wife, Commits Suicide

A middle aged man simply identified as Chikordi has allegedly committed suicide after killing his wife, Prophetess Chikordi.

The deceased was the General Overseer of the Ancient of Days Healing Church, Umunede in Ika North East LGA of Delta State, it was learnt.

ABN TV gathered Chikordi took his life by jumping into a well following the alleged murder.

Details of the development are still sketchy as at press time.

It was learnt around 4:00am on Sunday , the alleged assailant travelled to his hometown Ekwuoma, a neighbouring community to Umunede, where he jumped into the well.

Delta Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Edafe Bright, confirmed the incident.

The President-elect of Ebem Ohafia Development Union, EODU, Ohafia local government area of Abia State, Mr Emeka Mba popularly known as Bam Bam has said the Saturday’s election of new executive under his headship is the beginning of a new dawn in the history of the community.

He expressed his commitment to ensure the transformation of all sectors of the economy of the community, adding that he will lead the union to an enviable height.

ABN TV had brought you a report on Saturday that at the election which took place at Abum Square with a total of 112 delegates, Mr Mba polled a total of 53 votes to beat his closest rival, Barr. Emeka Ibem Uduma who scored 50 votes.

Prof. Emeka Okorie Awa came third with 1 vote.

In his acceptance speech, Mr. Mba promised to tackle insecurity, create a platform that will gainfully employ and empower youths and people of Ebem in the next four years of his administration.

He further pledged to bring to an end, the deplorable state of the roads, and other infrastructure in Ebem.

The President-elect appealed to all Ebemites to join him in his avowed determination to bring the desired change Ebem has been yearning for.

He also extended hands of fellowship to all who contested, imploring them to put Ebem first before their interest as it is time to rebuild the community and put it on the map of development.

Earlier in his remark, the paramount Ruler of Ebem kingdom and Kpoke 1, Ekeluogo Autonomous Community, Ebem Ohafia, HRM. Ezie Ukoha Kalu Ukoha, urged the new Executives to see their election as a clarion call to serve the community selflessly and bring their wealth of experience to bear for the overall development and transformation of Ebem community.

According to the Royal Father, the essence of the Development Union is to find ways to initiate ideas and formulate policies that will move the community to a greater height.

The traditional ruler also promised to work effectively with the new executives who he believes, will be honest, humble, transparent, and enthusiastic in the discharge of their duties.

The new executive members are,

2023 Presidency: Ndigbo Ready To Beg, Prostrate — Ezeife

Former Governor of Anambra State, Chukwuemeka Ezeife, says the quest to have an Igbo president in 2023 has become such a serious matter that the South-East was ready to “kneel down, even prostrate and beg in order to get the opportunity to become Nigeria’s President come 2023.”

Ezeife who was a guest at the United for Better Nigeria Initiative National Convention in Abuja on Saturday, said there was no better time for Ndigbo to produce a president in Nigeria and as such, they were prepared to do anything to achieve their aim, even if they have to go the unorthodox way.

The elder statesman however, noted that one of the ways to put an Igbo man in power come 2023 was for the region to swallow its pride and start begging every other region for the presidential seat.

“So I found Hausa, Yoruba, Igbo and other groups in this place talking about the need for federal character.

“If you do it that way, there will be unity, if there is fairness, equity, justice, you will have unity and progress.

“In the absence of those, you see where we are now. It is not a matter of to give us president, we don’t give, you have to work for it, the Igbo does not prostrate.

“The Igbo man does not kneel down but this time, we are prepared to kneel down to every part of Nigeria, every group, every ethnic group in Nigeria, we are prepared to even prostrate because we believe in this country.

“We are prepared to prostrate and beg for the president in 2023,” he reiterated.

NANS Urges Foreign Missions To Deny Students Fingered In Sylvester Oromoni’s Death Entry

The National Association of Nigerian Students, on Sunday, alerted foreign missions to deny entry to the five students of Dowen College alleged to have bullied and beaten 12-year-old Sylvester Oromoni to a point of coma which led to his eventual death on November 30, 2021.

The students’ body also called for the swift arrest of key officials of the Lekki-based school.

NANS President stated this in a statement on Sunday titled, ‘Sylvester Oromoni’s Death: NANS calls for immediate arrest of school principal, house master…urges foreign missions in Nigeria to ensure suspects do not sneak foreign into their countries’.

The father of the deceased student alleged that the Junior Secondary School 2 pupil died from the injuries he sustained during an assault by colleagues who wanted to initiate him into cultism but the school claimed he died after sustaining an injury during a football match.

The father of the deceased student, Sylvester Oromoni Snr, also fingered five boys whom he said were allegedly involved in the bullying of his son.

The father also said the teachers, security men, and other officials of the school must explain the death of his son, whose 12th birthday was December 4 (Saturday).

The Lagos State Government on Friday ordered the indefinite closure of the school, pending the outcome of an investigation into the death of Sylvester.

The Lagos State Police Commissioner, Hakeem Odumosu, on Saturday, ordered the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, to take over the investigation of the case immediately.

Reacting through a statement, NANS said, “We equally call for the immediate arrest and interrogations of names of students mentioned in the attack that led to the eventual death of Sylvester irrespective of how highly placed their parents are. There must not be any sacred cow as all of them must be arrested, adequately interrogated, and charged if found culpable.

“By this press statement, we put on red alert foreign missions in Nigeria to deny entry to the following students who had been fingered in the attack leading to the death of Sylvester Oromoni until the investigation is concluded.”

“NANS will follow this case religiously in our attempt to be the voice of the voiceless and ensure a level playing ground at the cause of the investigation irrespective of how influential and wealthy the families of the purported culprits are,” the statement concluded.

Sylvester’s is one of the disheartening deaths resulting from bullying and molestations in boarding secondary schools of late.

Karen-Happuch Akpagher of Premiere Academy, Lugbe, Abuja, had died of sexual molestation in June 2021 while Don Davies of Deeper Life High School, Uyo, had also narrowly escaped death in December 2020, when his mother raised the alarm of alleged sodomy of her emaciated son.

Stand Against Bad Governance, SERAP Urges Nigerians

The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project, SERAP, has called on Nigerians to consider playing a major role in the fight against corruption in the country.

Speaking during an interactive session on promoting collective action against corruption and management in the water and health sectors, which was held on December 1, 2021, in Ikeja, Lagos, SERAP Deputy Director Kolawole Oluwadare insisted that water is life and that both water and health cannot be separated.

According to Oluwadare, “The effect of corruption is being felt by all Nigerians and the need to confront the same cannot be overemphasized.”

While the interactive session lasted, participants on their part charged Nigerians to intensify the grassroots campaign, as well as create more awareness to stand against bad governance.

They also noted that fear and greed must be eliminated among the youths so that they don’t end up aiding corrupt leaders in the country.

The participants which included leaders of notable Civil Society Organizations, CSO, and students from various institutions also identified some challenges that are affecting the water and health sector in the country.

During the forum, corruption, impact of climate change, and migration of professionals in the health sectors are said to be part of the reasons the Nigerian health and water sector are not thriving as it ought to be, despite how blessed the country is.

In preferring solutions to the barrage of challenges confronting the two sectors, the participants said that the health sector should be empowered to avoid international migration on the part of the professionals and all citizens should be well involved in massive advocacy, invest more, and mobilize citizens.

Part of the action points during the forum is that citizens’ engagement must be encouraged in budget planning, while the youths are also encouraged to have a changed orientation and work against bad governance.

DSS Arrest CPC Chairman, General Idris Dambazau

The Kano State Chairman of the Consumer Protection Council (CPC), General Idris Dambazau has been arrested over allegations of economic Sabotage.

Reports according to a close source of the Operatives said that the DSS accused Gen. Dambazau rtd of unilateral closure of seven petroleum filling stations without following due process.

Dambazau, who is currently the Kano State Chairman of the Consumer Protection Council (CPC) was picked up by the operatives over the unilateral closure of seven petroleum filling stations without following due process.

All efforts to make Gen. Dambazau open the filling stations fell in deaf ears as the move was an ‘illegal assignment’ which was beyond the powers of his office.

Citing section 48 of the Nigerian Constitution which clearly states that, any government ministry, department or agency exercising any power or function or taking any action which may have direct impact on midstream or downstream petroleum operations shall consult with the authority.

This according to the section is prior to issuing any regulations, guidelines, enforcement order or directives, which a security source emphasized that Dambazau disregarded.
