The agent of Romelu Lukaku has said that the Chelsea striker will return to Serie A before the end of his career.

The Belgium international represented Inter Milan between August 2019 and August 2021, scoring 64 goals and registering 16 assists in 95 appearances for the Italian champions in all competitions.

Lukaku returned to Chelsea during the recent transfer window in a club-record deal, but he has found it difficult to show his best form for the Blues, netting just three times in 11 Premier League appearances.

Manchester United striker Edinson Cavani is supposedly eyeing an exit from the club next month.

The Uruguay international has endured an injury-hit 2021-22 season and has only made eight appearances in all competitions this term due to a tendon issue.

Cavani was strongly linked with an exit from Man United over the summer, but he ultimately stayed put after his 12-month contract extension was triggered.

However, Mundo Deportivo claims that the former Paris Saint-Germain attacker has now decided that he is keen for a move elsewhere, and Barcelona is his preferred destination.

The report adds that Cavani is not deterred by Barca’s failure to qualify for the knockout stages of the Champions League, and the same can also be said for Ferran Torres.

Cavani’s first season at Old Trafford saw him bag 17 goals and 10 assists from 40 appearances in all competitions, including 10 Premier League strikes.

He has now has the task of putting together a squad that will challenge for the title at the biennial competition.

“This is not about Eguavoen or Salisu, it is about Nigeria. The new technical crew need everyone prayer and support from Nigerians,” he stated.

“We must believe in our own and we are open to constructive criticism that will make our Super Eagles better”. Eguavoen pleaded.

The former Super Eagles captain was coach when the team finished in third place at the 2006 AFCON finals in Egypt.

Why NFF Decided To Sack Rohr – Amaju Pinnick

0

President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Amaju Pinnick has disclosed that the decision to sack Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr was to prevent a major disaster from happening to the senior national team.

He made this known in an interview with Channels Television on Monday, where he said that the NFF gave the German tactician all the necessary support to succeed with the team.

Recall that Rohr’s contract was terminated on Sunday by the NFF.

Augustine Eguavoen was immediately appointed to take charge of the Super Eagles on an interim basis.

The former Delta State Sports administrator also confirmed that the NFF was owing Rohr for some months, saying the lack of discipline among the players was one of the major setbacks in the team.

“He (Rohr) happens to be the longest-serving manager of the Super Eagles. We gave him all the support,” said Pinnick who was a guest on Sunrise Daily. “But we didn’t want to wait for a disaster to happen before parting ways. The last two games were very tough games for us.

“It wasn’t an individual decision; it was a collective decision by the entire executive committee. We were winning our games … there are a lot of things we took into cognisance. When you part ways, you don’t want to start ascribing blames; you just let it go and face the future with renewed hope and renewed zeal.”

“We did everything that we could, but one major factor was that discipline in the team is lost practically. In the dressing room, discipline in the team was at its lowest edge and once you remove discipline, that foundation in the team has cracked,” he said.

“Players now talk back at you, players believe that they are indispensable. A lot of factors that will now militate against the team. We are only owing about two matches of all the matches they played in both AFCON qualifiers and World Cup qualifiers.

“For Gernot Rohr, I know we paid him for about five months. We were owing him for a couple of months, then we cleared about five months.”
