She said, “I killed Mama (Madam Maria Igbinedion) to carry her money. She did not offend me. “Everything needed to revive this country is dependent on our electoral processes, once we don’t get that right, everything will continue to go wrong.

The former Chairman, Senate Committee on Federal Capital Territory, also said he supports for the direct primary process included in the Electoral Bill as opposed to the indirect from.

The president, in a letter to the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, cited insecurity and the cost of conducting direct primaries in political parties, as his reasons for rejecting the bill.

The lawmakers were about to consider and pass the 2022 budget when Mr Sekibo asked that the Senate goes into an executive session to discuss the president’s veto.

I want to call this Senate to go into a closed-door session to discuss the president’s letter today, “he said.

2023: North East Youth For Good Governance Want Senator Kalu As Nigeria’s President

0

As the 2023 General Election approaches with major political parties and prominent politicians already strategizing ways to victory at the polls, a sociopolitical group simply known as Northeast Youth For Good Governance have thrown their weights behind Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, urging the former Governor to vie for Nigeria’s presidency on the platform of All Progressives Congress ( APC.)

Coordinator of the group, comrade Bashir Azare in a press statement stated Senator Kalu would be the answer to the country’s socio-economic, political, and security challenges, particularly agitations for self-rule which he said were fast threatening peaceful cohesion among Nigerians, adding that Kalu would unite and develop the country under one and prosperous nation.

He explained that the two-term Governor of Abia State would use his diplomatic and troubleshooting skills in bringing all belligerent regions he noted had been at loggerheads with one another on a negotiating table that would be beneficial to all.

Comrade Azare revealed that Senator Kalu as Governor of Abia had attracted both local and foreign investors whom he pointed out turned the fortunes of the state, making it an investment and leisure haven.

The Bauchi-based group expressed confidence in leadership qualities of Kalu, stressing that as Nigeria’s President the successful businessman and astute politician would create wealth for the country and ensure the emergence of a united and peaceful nation built on mutual respect and equity for all.

“Senator Kalu is a philanthropist of worth who doesn’t publicise his generosity and human-building gestures which he has been doing for years.

“As a young man who studied in a northern university who is familiar with feelings of an average northerner will be in the best position to unite his people with other parts of Nigeria in common goal and aspirations.

“He will use his wealth of experience gained through interrelation and mingling with virtually every part of Nigeria to create a sustainable and enduring peace amongst major ethnic groups in the country.

“He has been an entrepreneur right from his school days especially as a young undergraduate in University of Maiduguri when he was buying and transporting dried fish from Bama in Borno State to Eastern part of this country to bankroll his education and cater for others.

“It unsettles him how the once peaceful state which was a model for others in cosmopolitan dwelling, leisure, and peaceful coexistence could now turn to a battlefield and refugees settlements.

“We strongly believe in his ability to proffer a lasting solution that will be palatable to Stakeholders in areas experiencing rising insecurity and other socio-economic bottlenecks.

“We, therefore, call on our youth, electorates, opinion, and traditional leaders to support and mobilize our people at the grassroots to work for actualization of Senator Kalu as president of Nigeria in 2023 under the platform of APC, “ he urged.

After Imo Killings, IPOB Says It Does Not Engage In Cannibalism

0

Following the “genocide in Imo”, the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) on Tuesday exonerated itself saying that its security outfit, Eastern Security Network (ESN) is not involved in “these dastardly acts and barbarity”.

Reacting, the IPOB spokesperson, Emma Powerful, in a statement on Tuesday, noted that “the general public should understand that those behind the orgy of kidnapping and barbaric killings in Imo have no link whatesover with the ESN inaugurated by our leader in December 2020”.

The secessionist group also alleged that the “genocide” is planned by the conspirator “and his co-travellers” to “unleashing mayhem on our people in their desperation to demonise ESN personnel and IPOB volunteers”.

IPOB however condemned “the cannibalism and atrocities of these criminals” claiming “the camp found at Nkwere and other places where they roasted human beings and kept kidnaped victims in the camp is not IPOB/ESN’s camp”.

“We have nothing in common with agents of death, and we don’t engage in barbarities and cannibalism of sorts.

“What is happening in Imo particularly in Orsuihiteukwa, Nnempi, Ibiasoegbe, Awo-Mmamma, Orlu, Oru East, Oru West, Nkwere and their environs including Orsumoghu and entire Ihiala LGA of Anambra State are the original plans to demonise Biafra agitators and ESN operatives and tag them as criminals but unfortunately their plan failed.

“IPOB/ESN operatives don’t engage in raping and kidnapping. That’s not part of their mandate. They are out to defend them (Imolites) against terrorists and criminal herdsmen,” the statement partly read.

Osimhen Gifts N10m To Title-Winning Remo Stars

Victor Osimhen has assured that he will be available to represent Nigeria at next year’s Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.

There have been doubts over the availability of Osimhen taking part at the AFCON after he suffered a facial injury during a Serie A fixture between Napoli and Inter Milan in November.

Osimhen suffered a fractured eye socket and cheekbone following a head collision with Inter’s Milan Skriniar.

He had to be substituted and rushed to hospital for proper examination before being operated upon.

Following the surgery, Napoli announced that Osimhen will be out of action for three months, which means he will not be at next year’s AFCON.

But he has since returned to light training and was seen in a picture published on Napoli’s Twitter handle putting on a protective face mask.

And in a statement on his Twitter handle, Osimhen said he will be in Cameroon for the competition unless he does not make the Super Eagles final squad.

“I will be available for AFCON💯unless if am not among the players picked to represent NIGERIA.”

This will surely be good news for Nigerian football fans especially following injuries to Oghenekaro Etebo and recently Paul Onuachu.

The Eagles will open their 2021 AFCON campaign against Egypt on January 11 before also facing Guinea-Bissau and Sudan.

But four-time African Player of the Year Eto’o posited he does not see why the AFCON should not go ahead after all the Euro 2020 was also played during the pandemic.

“Why should it be played?” Eto’o told Canal Plus.

“The federation that I represent will strongly defend the competition. The Euros were played in the middle of the pandemic with full stadiums. Why shouldn’t we play? We must be clear on this aspect.”

Fischer is worried about missing the 25-year-old during the period, but insisted the club will not stop him from representing his country.

The forward has 14 goals in 27 games across all competitions for Union Berlin this season.

Alleged Defamation: Retract Now Or Meet Us In Court, NBM Of Africa Tells BBC (VIDEO)

The fire stoked by the recent BBC documentary in which it accused NBM of Africa of derailing from a human right defence organization to a violent cult group is far from over as the group gives BBC seven (7) days ultimatum to retract the said defamatory content or face legal action.

Alleged Defamation: Retract Now Or Meet Us In Court, NBM Of Africa Tells BBC

In a letter dated 17th December, 2021, Neo Black Movement, NBM of Africa vowed to proceed to court to seek redress if BBC fails to retract the alleged defamation, insisting that it is determined to redeem the integrity of NBM through all means lawful.

In a release on Tuesday signed by the Chairman Body of Founders of the group, Comrade Ernest Amadasun, NBM of Africa alleged that there is grand conspiracy to discredit it by individuals and groups who are heavily funded.

The group insists that if any of its members is found to be involved in crime, such member should be arrested and prosecuted in court of law, saying the name of NBM of Africa should not be linked to personal wrong action of a member.

It says, “The recent Online broadcast/publication and documentary produce by British Broadcasting Corporation against our organization NBM of Africa otherwise known as NEO Black Movement of Africa has necessitated this Press Briefing in order to put the records in the right perspective.”

NBM of Africa continued, “It is therefore embarrassing and against best global practice in broadcasting and journalism for British Broadcasting Corporation otherwise known as BBC and its allies to produce and broadcast defamatory documentary online through YouTube and segment of its organization known as the African EYE against the integrity of NBM of Africa.

“In the said online broadcast and documentary by British Broadcasting Corporation, BBC persistently referred to our NBM of Africa as Black Axe and allude to unfounded facts that NBM of Africa involves in violence and criminality.

“The defamatory documentary and broadcast which has gone viral on the internet and further broadcasted by BBC on the 19th day of December, 2021 defamed and disparaged our organization’s reputation and character with obvious consequences that have caused NBM loss and divestment of integrity by prudent members of the society, which has caused our organization to be held in abysmal disdain, disrespect and odium by ordinary and prudent members of the society.”
