The MD/CEO Pauli Mama Group, Chief Amobi Ogah has congratulated the people of Isuikwuato/Umunneochi federal constituency of Abia State as the world ushers in year 2022, predicting that it will be a year of new things in the constituency and state in general.

In a new year message on Saturday, the oil and gas expert and philanthropist remarked that the 2021 had been challenging for a lot of Abians and Nigerians at large, not just because of the Covid-19 global health crisis but the economic challenges that came with it as well as the security challenges ravaging virtually every part of the country, including Abia.

He said 2022 is a significant year as it marks the beginning of the process of electing leaders across board.

Chief Amobi called on the people of Isuikwuato/Umunneochi federal constituency to keep hope alive, expressing optimism that the year will mark the beginning of big things for them.

He also challenged leaders to do away with selfishness and greed but focus more on the enhancement of the living standard of people they lead.

The former House of Representatives aspirant frowned at what he called the culture of name-calling and unguarded utterances of political class, insisting that it is not the way to go.

He wished the people of the constituency a fruitful 2022 even as he prays that favour locates them in all they do.

Justice Odili’s Home Invasion: Wike Carpets Buhari Over Silence, Says President Sick

0

Rivers state governor, Nyesom Wike has lambasted President Muhammadu Buhari over his ‘silence’ on the invasion of Supreme Court Justice, Mary Odili, saying that most of the problems Nigeria faces is because of lack of leadership.

Governor Wike who on Saturday said that he was paying a special New Year visit to his Bauchi counterpart, Governor Bala Mohammed noted that his purpose of visit to Bauchi was to forge a way out from the myriad of challenges facing the country.

“When you talk about the autonomy of the judiciary, is there any autonomy? Look at the Federal courts in all the states and see the nature of the Federal courts. I am surprised that Mr. President could not even make a pronouncement when heard that the premises of a Justice of Supreme court was invaded. I am sure he would have issued statement if the person was killed. It was not just an invasion, it was a threat to the Judiciary.

“What Nigerians require now is leadership. With good leadership, most of the problems you see now will disappear. We don’t have leadership. We don’t know whether we have a president that takes decision.

“I am surprised that the government would sign money in trillions of naira to purchase arms then you hear that the arms were not purchased, and at the end you compensated the service chiefs to be ambassadors. I wonder what kind of system is that?

“It was surprising to me when I heard one day that somebody (I can’t recall if it was his driver) brought a paper for him (President Buhari) to sign and he signed a document worth billions of Naira and later the man was arrested that he deceived Mr. President. How can a president sign such a dubious document?” the Rivers governor queried rhetorically.

Wike who further alleged that the president was sick and unfit to discharge his statutory duties properly hence the challenges Nigeria faces have refused to go away, faulted President Buhari’s approval of the 2022 budget.

“Yesterday, the president said that the 2022 budget is not implementable but he went ahead and signed. Something he knows will not help the country and he couldn’t tell the National Assembly that he could not sign the budget. In the Electoral Act he faulted errors that direct primaries will be too expensive but budget with mistakes that determines the survival of the country and make the nation work, he signed it.

“Look at what is happening in the system, if you steal in PDP you are a criminal but if you move over to APC you are no longer a criminal. How can you lead a nation like that?

“Nigeria is a country that you must understand the feelings of other people, if you don’t do that there will be trouble because some people will feel that they are not part of you. Like in my state, we carry everyone along whether you are from Ikwerre or Kalabari,

“No president says because you did not vote for me therefore I have no business with them. No, it’s not done. There’s no election that you can have the support of everybody. Once you emerge, you don’t talk about PDP and APC or tribe. That is what a good leader does.

“These days people cannot go to their farms because they will die. Wives can not go to the market because they might die on their way. These deaths are not by their making, it is because of the failure of the so-called government to protect them,” he added.

On Governor Bala Mohammed, the Rivers state governor said he was pleased with the performance of his counterpart, while also urging for more support to enable him finish well

Sen. Musa Urges Nigerians To Support Buhari’s Govt To Succeed

0

National Chairmanship aspirant for the February National Convention of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Senator Sani Musa representing Niger East Senatorial District has called on all Nigerians to support President Muhammadu Buhari in the new year in order to continue in his efforts at yielding desirable success.

In his new year message, Senator Musa who is the Chairman Senate Services Committee said that it has become very imperative for every Nigerian to continue to pray and support the present administration, also called on all members of the ruling APC to seek above everything else the unity and peace of this great party. The party must remain a strong political entity before, during and after the convention.

In a statement he personally signed, Senator Musa said, “On this occasion of a new year, it is important to give thanks to God for keeping us this far. We pray for his continued provision and protection in the year 2022.

“I wish to acknowledge the exploits of the leadership of our great party, All Progressives Congress (APC), under His Excellency Mai Mala Buni, the governor of Yobe State, under whose administration the party has continued to grow in leaps and bounds. Our party indeed had a bountiful 2021 with the harvest of some governors and other political big wigs from other parties.

“As we journey into the new year, and particularly, the national convention of our party, I appeal to every party member and supporter to seek above everything else the unity and peace of this great party. The party must remain a strong political entity before, during and after the convention.

“We should not forget the bigger challenge ahead of us in 2023, the presidential election. We cannot go into it divided nor can we win the trophy in such a state. We should all uphold the ideas of the party this new year as we journey into the national convention.

“The APC administration led by President Muhammadu Buhari has also recorded many successes in spite of doubting challenges, especially the dwindling resources available to the government, and security issues confronting our dear country.

“While it is important to note that economic and security problems are global issues, I commend President Muhammadu Buhari’s ingenuity at navigating them and I call on every Nigerian to support him in the new year so that the efforts of his administration can yield desirable success.

“The ingenuity of our dear president led to the country’s domestic growth in the first three quarters of 2021, recording real GDP of 0.51 percent in Q1, 5.01 percent in Q2 and 4.03 percent in Q3 2021. This was an improvement from a declining performance in the first three quarters of 2020 (which led to economic recession) put at 1.87 percent in Q1, -6.10 percent in Q2 and -3.62 percent in Q3 2020. Nevertheless, the fourth quarter 2020 recorded a slight improvement of 0.11 percent, ushering in positive growth rates in the three quarters of 2021.

“This economic performance in 2021 shows a steady improvement in growth over the last three quarters of 2020.

“The military deserves our continued support, let us appreciate their sacrifice.

“The Buhari-led administration has continued to support them and has assured us the raging insecurity will soon be nipped in the bud. I call on all and sundry to be optimistic in this pledge.

“Through a number of various operations set up across the country including the Joint Task Force (JTF) North East, tagged Operation HADIN KAI covering theNorth East region; the JTF SS, tagged Operation DELTA SAFE covering the South South region; the JTF NW, known as Operation HADARIN DAJIcovering the North West region; Operation SAFE HAVEN covering Plateau, parts of Kaduna and Bauchi States; Operation WHIRL STROKE covering Benue, Nasarawa and Taraba States; JTF SW, referred to as Operation AWATSE and covering Lagos and Ogun States; Operation THUNDER STRIKE covering Abuja-Kaduna Highway and Operation WHIRL PUNCH covering parts of Kaduna State, the military has recorded successes in its approach. The list of its is endless as it covers the nooks and crannies of the nation.

“I wish our great nation and those of us God has placed in it a prosperous year 2022.”

2023: Orji Kalu, Nyesom Wike Will Slug It Out In Presidential Contest, Prophet Joshua Who Predicted Kalu’s Release Speaks Again

0

The General Overseer of Light of the World International Church, Lagos, Prophet Joshua Arogun has stirred the political hornets of the nation by declaring that Chief Whip of the Senate and eminent businessman,  Senator Orji Uzor Kalu and Rivers State Governor,  Barrister Nyesom Wike will emerge candidates of All Progressives Congress  (APC) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) respectively head of the 2023 presidential election.

The cleric made the revelation on Saturday during the cross over prayer night for 2022.

He said  Nigeria despite the challenges ahead , will move forward  with a man  of peace who has what it takes to  reunite  the country and provide a peaceful atmosphere for men and businesses

He explained that God brings a leader the nation needs at every point in time notwithstanding the disagreement from a few. He added that Buhari became president in 2015 because it was Buhari that Nigeria needed

He also said the  political tension brewing up will reduce drastically after the presidential primaries of the two major political parties

Speaking to the congregation, he said, “As we are gearing towards change of government,  we should expect more tension.  But this tension will reduce after two parties pick their candidates. The Lord did not abandon this nation and there will be a strong statement from Heaven to prove it . God in his wisdom will reunite this nation through a southerner who have what it takes to reunite the country and provide a peaceful atmosphere for all man and businesses.

“Some people complain about Buhari’s presidency because they are spiritually blind to see what would have happened if Buhari was not the president. Buhari became President at a time the nation needed him and God approved it .I have seen Orji Uzor Kalu of the South East and Nyemson Wike of the South South in the final election.  How it would happen is what I don’t know but these two will be the presidential candidates of the APC and PDP. Our duty is to pray for the anointed not to turn his back on God when he becomes the President”

Speaking further,  he said, “2022 is coming with a lot of challenges but we will continue to pray for you . A lot have been revealed to me and  I want you to be strong and never entertain fear.  God would always provide for His people.”

Prophet Joshua Arogun came to limelight when in new year  2014, he narrated how President Goodluck Jonathan will lose election to Muhammadu Buhari. He said that Buhari’s victory would be welcomed by Nigerians and international community because God has anointed Buhari to lead Nigeria

On 1st March 2020, Prophet Arogun also released a  prophecy about 2023 Presidency and President Muhammadu Buhari’s successor

Speaking during new month ministration service, he said Buhari’s successor is a former Governor from  the South East who was in prison . He said God put him in prison to preserve his life, adding that he would be released after six months

His words  “I am a prophet of God and by the grace of God, anything the Lord tells us comes to pass because we hear from Him; we don’t hear from men. We don’t rely on public opinion for prophesies. We are not afraid of what people will say when such prophesies are given to us to tell the people. When we hear from the Lord, we tell people no matter how it is interpreted. It is left for people to take it.

“Before the 2015 election, God told me that Buhari would win; And God told me a lot of things about Buhari. It is He that anointed him to be the president and there is no questions about that. No one can change it. The people can hate him: the people can reject him but God has ordained him, and there is something about God. When He says that you would be this, no man can change it. He does what pleases Him

“I got a revelation about Nigeria’s political dynamics in the next general election. I saw a man in Prison and this man has been a former Governor from the South East taking over from President Buhari. There is absolutely nothing one can do about someone’s destiny especially when sanctioned by God. Everything that happens in life is for a reason. I saw renewed alliances among the political class and across the political parties and I saw this country reuniting more than it has ever done before. God loves Nigeria so much. Nigeria is a big country, and is blessed with human and natural resources.” He said.

Rep. Sam Onuigbo Greets Constituents At New Year, Urges Them To Hold Politicians Accountable

0

Member representing Ikwuano/Umuahia North/South federal constituency, Honourable Sam Onuigbo has congratulated his constituents as the world ushers in New Year, wishing them a prosperous and exciting 2022.

While remarking that this year is significant especially as it ushers in the process of electing leaders, he urged them to be intentional on the path of progressive and sustainable development.

In a new year message on Saturday, the federal lawmaker also called on the people of Ikwuano/Umuahia federal constituency to learn to hold leaders accountable without emotional or primordial considerations, insisting that it is an onerous duty that must be performed for the progress of the state and country at large.

As a people, politically, this year will also be very significant as we have a chance to begin again the process of electing leaders who will most likely represent our last chance to build on the process of ensuring that this decade is the decade when we finally and firmly place our feet on the path to progressive and sustainable development. We must be aware of this responsibility and embrace the year with this in mind. It is our collective responsibility as a people.

“It is also my desire that this is the year when we begin to objectively hold our leaders accountable, setting aside emotional attachments, primordial sentiments, and selfish reasons. We owe this to ourselves and to posterity. May we not be found wanting in this” he urged.

While cautioning on deliberate plans to save the environment, Rep. Onuigbo assured that as a representative of the people, he will continue to empower his constituents economically, provide health care, electricity, road and enhance the process of learning as a way of improving the lives of the people.

“More and more scientific evidences have recently underscored the fact that this decade offers humanity with the last chance to effectively reverse the apocalyptic impacts of climate change and save the future for our children. In 2022, we must collectively work as a global village to translate theories into actions. Thankfully, Nigeria now has a Climate Change Act due to our efforts. We must build on that.

“As a representative of the great people of Ikwuano/Umuahia North/South Federal Constituency, I will not relent in my style of representation which is framed by the EAR ideology(Effectiveness, Accessibility, and Responsiveness). In that vein then, we will do more in the areas of trainings on livelihood development skills and empowerment for my constituents, healthcare, provision of electricity, road construction, education(scholarships and construction of school blocks) provision of employment, advocating for the good of the people of our great constituency at the National Assembly, and many more.

“2022 is loaded with lots of promises. May God grant us the good health and peace, to reach our goals” he concluded.

Zubby Michael Good In Kidnapping Roles, He Taught Abduction Through His Movies — Suspect

0

Kidnappers have introduced a new dimension to their illicit business. This time around, they storm victims’ schools, pretending to have been sent by their parents to pick them, only to take them to their hideouts which are usually hotels, from where they place calls to victims’ parents for ransom.

Barely one week after operatives of the Force Intelligence Response Team headed by DCP Tunji Disu, arrested one of the suspects who invaded a primary school in New Nyanya,Nasarawa State, abducting one of the pupils, they have arrested another suspect in Ogun State.

The latest suspect, Ayobamidele Kudus Ayodele, abducted a six-year old boy, Ebube Eze, from Remson Group of Schools, located in Ojo Alaba area of Lagos, kept him hostage for four days until a ransom of N550,000 was paid for his release.

Father of the six-year-old boy, Mr Afam Eze, in his petition to the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Alkali Usman Baba, shortly after the release of his son, explained that he received a call from his wife, informing him that their son was missing on November 16, 2021.

He said that headmistress of the school was the first person the kidnapper contacted, demanding for N200,000 for his release.

N150,000 ransom
But at the end of the bargain, N150,000 was paid into the strange caller’s account, with the name Abayomi Kudus Ayodele.

Thereafter, the kidnapper according to him, instructed them to go and wait at Ajagbandi junction, on the Mile Two/Badagry expressway, for their son, only to wait for four hours without any sight of him.

Rather, he said, the kidnapper called again, demanding for additional N2 million ransom for the lad’s release, with a stern warning to make the money ready on time if they wanted to see the boy alive.

He added that another round of negotiation began, at the end of which he sent additional N400,000 into two accounts .

As soon as the payment was confirmed, Afam said he was instructed to go to Igboelerin round about , where he found his son waiting for him.

He informed that when he registered the number with which the kidnapper contacted him, on his WhatsApp, his son identified the face of his abductor as that on the Display Picture (DP).

Detectives of IRT at the South West annex as gathered, tracked the suspected kidnaper to Mowe, Ogun State from where he (suspect), took them to the lounge where he kept the boy hostage.

Upon investigation, members of staff of the lounge told the detectives that the suspect told them the boy was his son.

‘My parents trained me well, but…’
During interrogation, the 23-year -old Ogun State born suspect revealed that he ran a one -man squad and that he learnt how to kidnap from Nollywood movies.

He said “Zubi Michael is my favorite Nollywood actor and he is good at kidnapping roles.

“I decided to try out some of the methods used by Zubi to kidnap children and adults in the movies.

“I started by visiting several schools around Ojo to see the possibility of picking children without anyone noticing.

“On November 16, 2021, I visited a school close to Alaba International Market and stayed by the gate.

“I saw a teacher passing by and she asked me what I was doing there. I was about to tell her that I wanted to make inquires about the school, but she immediately asked if I was there to register my child in school.

“I said yes and she told me to hold on that the children were writing their exams.

“She came out few minutes later and gave me a form. She also gave me her phone number and asked me to come with the child in the January 2022.

“As soon as she left, I hung around waiting for the right time to strike.

“Then I saw two pupils coming to school. One of them was holding a cane. I stopped them and started chatting with them.

“I took the cane from one of them and asked where he bought it. He mentioned the place but I told him to go and drop his bag and come back to show me where he bought it.

“I whispered into his ears that I would buy him chocolates and biscuits. I told him not to tell the person he was with and he nodded.

“He went in to drop his bag and came back. I told him we would need to enter a motorcycle to the place, he nodded in excitement.

“We rode to Alabarago junction. I gave him my phone that had a lot of games in it and he was so excited.

“The next thing I did was to contact the teacher that gave me her telephone number, to inform her that I had abducted one of her pupils.

“To avoid drawing attention to myself, I took the boy to Saudlat Lounge at One Love Unity Estate, off Igbanla, Idi Agbalumo, in Ilogbo Eremi, area of Lagos.

“The receptionist asked if he was my son and I said yes. She was further convinced when the boy called me daddy.

“That was after I had told him my name was daddy. I booked a room and paid N5000 per night.”

Asked why he did not release the boy after collecting the initial N150,000, Ayodele replied: “I felt I could get more money from the family since N150,000 was very easy for them to pay.

“I took the boy to another area called Magbo, from where I called his father and demanded for additional N2 million naira.

“While he was with me, I bought him ice cream, chicken and snacks. I assured him that I would take him back to school.

“We spent four days there before his family was able to raise N400,000. The boy stayed calm throughout because he had access to my phone which had several games.

“He only expressed worry once, saying his mother would be angry that he came home late. He didn’t even notice he had spent four days with me.

“I am sorry for causing his family so much pain. I am not a cultist or an armed robber. I do not have a gang.

“I just trained myself by watching Zubby Michael. My parents trained me very well, I was just impatient and greedy.”

Recovered from him was a National Identity card which had Bode Oluwasegun on it, a name that was different from his, but had his picture on it.

When asked what it was for, he said: “The identity card is not fake. I just secured it in case banks block my account.”

New Year: Surviving Buhari’s Administration Miraculous — PDP

0

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has called Nigerians to use the the New Year to rekindle the virtues of love, unity, social justice as well as the quest for good governance in the land.

The PDP in a statement signed by its spokesman, Debo Ologunagba noted that surviving the year 2021 under the All Progressives Congress, APC-led administration “not only calls for a sober reflection but also for an unwavering determination to rescue our nation from misrule.”

The statement read: “It is indeed a miracle that our nation survived the last six years of massive human rights violation, abuse of process, extra-judicial killings, stagnated infrastructure, excruciating economic hardship, escalated terrorism, mass killings and unbridled treasury-looting that have characterized the arrogant and incompetent APC administration.

“The New Year therefore presents us as a nation with the special opportunity to put aside all forms of divisiveness, fear and narrow-mindedness and pursue a new beginning; to patriotically confront the challenges of bad governance and work as one people to salvage our nation in line with the Rescue and Rebuild mission of the PDP.

“We must therefore as a people, brace up and use all facilities within the ambit of the law to firmly resist the divisive machinations, propaganda, lies, (such as reeled out by the Federal Government on Thursday, December 30, 2021) as well as the electoral manipulations and rigging devices of the APC and its government.

“Of course, the APC and its government have lined up many more litany of lies, false promises and fake performance claims which they intend to dish out as new year messages in a fresh bid to hoodwink the people and continue in their culture of impunity and recklessness.

“Our Party counsels the APC to desist from such as Nigerians no longer believe the highfalutin lies and deception of the APC, having realized and admitted the error of not asking for a proper dissection, direction and interrogation of the promised change by a bunch of inchoate sailors clobbered together for one purpose, to wit: hijack the people’s trust for remote private gains.

“The APC and its government should rather use the New year to review their anti-people policies, end their corruption and take urgent steps towards economic recovery by adopting a more transparent and inclusionist approach to governance; investing more on our productive sectors and being open to suggestions and constructive criticisms from Nigerians.

“On security, the APC government must get committed to the fight against terrorism by adopting proactive measures including extensive intelligence gathering for tactical operations.

“Furthermore, Nigerians expect the Buhari Presidency and the APC to use the New Year to apologize for their atrocities by showing empathy to the families of the victims of mass killings under their watch and prepare to exit our political scene in 2023.

“On our part, the PDP is repositioned and already leading the charge to Rescue and Rebuild our country. This mission is paramount in our collective quest for a prosperous and secure nation.”

We Can’t Remove Names Of Dead Persons From Voter Register, Says INEC

0

The Independent National Electoral Commission has said it is unable to remove the names of dead persons from the voter register due to the absence of reliable data of births and deaths to rely on in expunging the names of such persons.

This implies that Nigeria may go into the 2023 general elections with a faulty voter register. This is compounded by allegations by some stakeholders that there are multiple registration and underage persons on the register.

They pointed out that a faulty register could affect the credibility of the elections as well as make the commission incur unnecessary costs, given that the commission might have to print ballot papers for the registered voters.

INEC National Commissioner and Chairman of its Information and Voter Education Committee, Festus Okoye, told one of our correspondents in an interview that the commission could not remove names arbitrarily. He, therefore, asked Nigerians to support the commission in cleaning up the register.

Okoye said, “The commission displays the voter register for claims and objections but few Nigerians pay attention to the process. Nigerians must assist the commission to clean up the voter register by coming forward to point out deceased individuals or those that are not supposed to be in the voter register.

“Secondly, the country does not have reliable data of births and deaths and the commission cannot engage in arbitrary removal of the names of individuals it suspects are deceased.

“Our new software currently in use has been robust and has been detecting multiple registrants. We as a people and as a country must not condone and or connive in community aided and politically motivated under age registration. This commission is resolved and determined to prosecute all electoral infractions.”

Confronted by the compelling need to sanitise the register, INEC Chairman, Prof Mahmood Yakubu, had on September 24 asked the National Population Commission to periodically provide the commission with the data of deceased persons to update the voter register.

Yakubu had in 2018 made a similar request when he visited the then Chairman of the NPC, Mr Eze Duruijeoma, saying the cleanup was crucial for the 2019 elections.

But speaking in September when the Chairman of the NPC, Isa Kwarra, visited him at the INEC headquarters, Mahmood stated, “At present, technology cannot help us to identify and remove dead persons from the voter register.

“Therefore, I wish to once more appeal to the chairman of the NPC, in your capacity as the registrar of births and deaths in Nigeria, to periodically avail us of the data of deceased Nigerians.

“This is important so that we can use the official information from your commission to further clean up the voter register. Perhaps, you may wish to start by providing us with the list of prominent Nigerians who have passed on, civil and public servants compiled from the official records of government ministries, departments and agencies and other Nigerians from hospital and funeral records across the country.”
