“In our zoning agreement, we have agreed to re-zone the North as requested by others but we have agreed written openly as a result of what has happened that any candidate from any part of the country can now contest this election,” Aliyu said.

Abia Governorship: Former COAS Ihejirika, Nkemdirim Insists Power Must Shift To Isuikwuato

Former Chief of Army Staff, COAS, Gen. Azubuike Ihejirika (retd.); former Director of Operations Department of State Services DSS, Chief Ray Nkemdirim, have thrown their weight behind the agitation for power shift to Isuikwuato district of Abia State come 2023.

The former COAS during a courtesy visit to the Chairman of Abia Founding Fathers Association, Elder Dr Onyike James Onyike, appealed to the various political parties in the state not to truncate the power rotation arrangement put in place by the founding fathers of the state.

Gen. Ihejirika who is a chieftain of the All Progressive Congress APC, said that the position of the founding fathers was “in tune with the letters of the Abia Charter of Equity, peace, fairness & justice”.

The former COAS appluaded Abia founding fathers for supporting power shift to Isuikwuato district come 2023 in the spirit of Abia Charter of Equity.

He described position as “a landmark decision by the Founding Fathers in demonstration of their love for brotherhood and peaceful coexistence in the state they fought so hard to get”.

Ihejirika and Nkemdirim insisted that the Isuikwuato district comprising Isuikwuato and Umunneochi councils which represent the letter “I” in the Abia acronym, remained the only bloc yet to take a shot at the governorship seat of the state.

They equally maintained that Isuikwuato district parades an array of competent and experienced governorship materials in different political parties, who, if given the opportunity, would ” transform Abia State”.

The former COAS pledged his determination, commitment and support for the agitation for power shift to lsuikwuato come 2023.

Ihejirika thanked God for the exemplary lifestyle of the elder statesman who he described as a highly patriotic and true Abian.

Responding, Dr Onyike thanked Ihejirika his entourage, promising to convey their message of goodwill to the Founding Fathers.

The octogenarian said that the founding fathers would not hesitate to volunteer their wise counsel at any point to help move the state forward

People Fabricating Hell Fire Memes, Tagging My Mother’s Picture To It, Mummy GO’s Son Says

0

Samuel, the son of Funmilayo Adebayo, an evangelist nicknamed Mummy GO, and now trending on social media, has said that his mother is not bothered about the hellfire memes circulating online.

He, however, said many of the texts attributed to his mum in the memes about hellfire were fabricated and untrue imaginations.

Samuel, in a chat with The PUNCH on Friday, said though his 54-year-old mother made some comments about some actions that might attract hellfire as destination in the afterlife, she never coerced people to believe her.

The son of the preacher who is in his early 30s also urged social media users not to take his mother’s comments personal but to feel free to ignore or accept any of her sermons that align with their belief system.

Samuel said, “Social media has always been a platform where anything can be posted at any point in time but everything that has been posted about her saying she said this and that are all lies, nothing is true about the memes, they are just fabricating the memes, everybody with their contents, writing all sorts of things and tagging her pictures. We are used to it; the best thing is to ignore them.

“Even though she said everything about hell, there is nowhere she said by fire, by force, people must agree and accept what she is saying. I don’t think she has ever made that kind of statement before.

“Everybody is entitled to believe what they want to believe. I don’t know why people are taking it personal. There is the freedom to believe whatever one wants to believe and neglect whatever one wants to neglect but there is always the freedom of expression. Even Christ didn’t say that people must accept Him by fire by force as the son of God.”

The founder of Rapture Proclaimer Evangelical Church of God earned the nickname Mummy GO after some video clips of her hell-threatening sermons went viral.

PDP Will Take Over If…., Says President Buhari

0

President Muhammadu Buhari has warned that if the leadership of the All Progressives Congress, APC fails to get its act together on time, the  Peoples Democratic Party, PDP will take over.

This is as he said, there will be no kingmaker roles in the party, and all aspirants must work hard to earn their ranks.

Buhari said this in an interview with the National Television Authority, which was aired on Thursday evening.

Speaking on the APC National Convention earlier slated for February 2022, the President said the party must work within the timeframe available, determine a substantive leadership, and chart its course ahead of the 2023 elections; otherwise, it risks being displaced by the opposition.

He said, “We have a time frame; we have to work around it because the four-year cycle is constitutional. It cannot be interfered with by anybody. So, if the party cannot agree, then the opposition will take over.

“What did the PDP do? They thought that the opposition could not come together. But when ACN, ANPP, CPC, APGA came together, before PDP realised it, they were off. They are still off.

Asked whether he, as an influential figure in the party, will appoint roles to specific persons or anoint any candidates, Buhari, who said he is not a kingmaker, affirmed that aspirants will have to earn their badge this time.

“My position is simple. I think I succeeded in making my position understood. I said that we start from the bottom-up, from polling units to wards, local government, state, and Abuja.

“So that the party—because I am concerned about my party—members will know that they can earn their position coming up. So when they come to Abuja, they are likely to work together.

“There is no kingmaker from Abuja. No constituency is being dictated upon by the national leadership. All constituencies are supposed to produce their leadership in our party.

“What other parties do is their own business. We have to make sure that our party members understand that they are respected, from polling units, wards, local governments, states and up to Abuja.

“So those who want to be elected to any level, let them work for it. Nobody is going to appoint anybody.”
