President Biden Heard Calling Reporter “Stupid Son Of A B*tch”

0

President Joe Biden was heard calling a reporter from the Fox channel a “stupid son of a bitch” on a hot microphone following a White House event Monday afternoon.

The President’s profane remark came as reporters were shouting questions while exiting the East Room following a White House Competition Council meeting on efforts to lower prices.

Fox White House Correspondent Peter Doocy asked Biden, “Would you take a question on inflation … ? Do you think inflation is a political liability in the midterms?”

“It’s a great asset — more inflation,” Biden deadpanned. “What a stupid son of a bitch.”
Doocy said on Fox late Monday evening that Biden called his phone shortly after their exchange to apologize for his remark. “Within about an hour of that exchange, he called my cell phone and he said, ‘It’s nothing personal, pal,'” Doocy said.

“He cleared the air, and I appreciated it. We had a nice call,” he added. Doocy said he told Biden he plans to continue asking him unexpected questions, and that the President responded positively to the comment.

Doocy had said on Fox earlier Monday that he had asked Biden about inflation because the President, when asked about Russia and Ukraine, said he wouldn’t take any questions that were off-topic.

Doocy also said other reporters “had to tell me that he said it because I couldn’t hear anything over the shouting from (White House staff telling press to leave the room).”

The President has grown increasingly frustrated when facing tough questions publicly in recent days.

When another Fox White House correspondent, Jacqui Heinrich, asked Biden why he was waiting for Russian President Vladimir Putin to make the first move with Ukraine, he responded under his breath, “What a stupid question.”

Earlier Monday, White House press secretary Jen Psaki told reporters during a press briefing that “the President has shown that he respects the value of the freedom of the press.”
Psaki, who was being asked about 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin’s court case against The New York Times, said the President “obviously took a step earlier this year to ensure there couldn’t be a replication of actions that had been taken over prior administrations as it related to journalists. So I think that speaks to his commitment, but I don’t have any more comments on the case.”
Psaki appeared to be referring to the Biden Justice Department’s policy shift, vowing to no longer seize reporters’ records in leak investigations.

At the root of the frustrations toward the reporters are two major crises the Biden administration continues to deal with: addressing inflation and the prospect of a Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Just ahead of the President’s Monday meeting on lowering prices, Biden held a video conference with European leaders to discuss concerns over Russia’s troop build-up at Ukraine’s border.

Biden discussed options for bolstering US troop levels in the Baltics and Eastern Europe with his top military officials during a briefing at Camp David Saturday, according to a senior official. And earlier Monday, the Pentagon announced that as many as 8,500 US troops have been put on heightened alert for a possible deployment to Eastern Europe.

The State Department reduced staff levels at the US Embassy in Ukraine, ordering some family members to leave. And on Monday, the White House said American citizens inside Ukraine should leave now, and that there are no plans for a military evacuation should the situation deteriorate further.

Inflation continues to hound the administration as well — consumer prices rose in 2021 at the fastest pace in 39 years, a concerning marker the White House has attempted to address in the limited ways it can, including through events like the one held on Monday to lower prices.

During a news conference marking one year since taking office, Biden said, “We need to get inflation under control,” throwing weight behind the Federal Reserve’s efforts to combat inflation.

The administration’s inflation problem has already had political consequences.
In December, West Virginia Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin, a key moderate in the Senate, declined to support Biden’s sweeping social safety net and climate legislation, in part, over what the bill would do to the nation’s rising debt and soaring inflation.

Iwobi, Okoye Receive Death Threats After Eagles AFCON Exit

0

Super Eagles goalkeeper, Maduka Okoye and midfielder, Alex Iwobi, were subjected to cyberbullying by fans, including death threats, after Nigeria’s exit from the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon on Sunday following a 1-0 defeat to Tunisia.

Youssef Msakni scored the only goal of the encounter with a strike from 25 yards out to fire Tunisia to the last eight and break Nigerian hearts.

Some fans felt Okoye should have saved Msakni’s effort, while Iwobi was sent off for a foul after just six minutes on the pitch for what was deemed to be a dangerous tackle.

Iwobi had been sent into the game in the 59th minute for Kelechi Iheanacho to help change the complexity of the game, but his sending off further piled pressure on the midfield and the defence.

An Instagram user @Clifford_Marius under a picture posted by Okoye wrote, “It will not be well with you. I pray you don’t see next month, you will die in a plane crash.”

@la_isle on Instagram wrote, “Maduka, you will not live long. You sold this AFCON match to the Tunisians.”

@pelexofLagos wrote, “Maduka Okoye, God will punish you and your family, your incompetence cost us AFCON.”

“StCollins wrote, “You are the worst goalkeeper on earth.”

Striker Sadiq Umar had also been a subject of online bullying over his performance in some of the country’s group stage games.

Okoye and Iwobi were also subjects of social media memes.

However, they took individual action to reduce the effects of the abuses, with Okoye restricting comments on his Instagram handle, while Iwobi deleted all pictures on his page.

The Everton midfielder had previously deactivated his Twitter following the online abuses.

“I’ll Keep The Baby” – Lady Impregnated By Sammie Okposo

0

African Doll, the US-based lady allegedly impregnated by gospel singer, Sammie Okposo, has said she will keep the baby because she doesn’t believe in abortion.

She had on Monday called out the singer, saying she didn’t require him to bow to her but turning his back on her is wrong.

”We both know that we didn’t use protection. We both know that we were wrong. There is still a way to handle things. He didn’t handle it right. I am not saying he has to bow to me but there is a way you do things.

Turning your back on me is wrong. Any woman on earth won’t feel okay about it. It doesn’t feel good to be abandoned or to be thrown to the side. I cannot be walking around thinking about it, life goes on,” she told Obodo Oyinbo TV.

On the plans she has for the pregnancy, African Doll said, “I will keep the baby, I don’t really believe in abortion. Fornication is a sin. The bible says he who is without sin should cast the first stone. It is not my intention to hurt anybody but to bring life to the situation.”

Her interview was immediately followed by an apology tendered by Sammie Okposo to his wife and others while confessing about an intimate relationship he had with a woman when he travelled to the US.

This is as he suspended himself from all ministerial works “until full restoration.”

The singer apology read in part, “Dear Friends, I need to bring a very unfortunate incident to your attention as I am not proud of it but know that this is the right thing to do.

“On my recent trip to the USA (Late 2021), I got intimately involved with a lady, knowing that this was not appropriate as a married man and a minister of the gospel. I am ashamed and regret my actions as it has caused a lot of pain to my dear wife, Ozioma, my family and me.

“As I work in making peace with God, repenting and asking His forgiveness, I am suspending myself from all ministry work until full restoration as this is what is proper and what I know I owe God and His people.

“To my wife, Ozioma, I am sincerely sorry I put you through this shameful and embarrassing situation. I broke your trust and disappointed you.

“Your forgiveness of my moral failure and poor judgement is important to me. I pray I will eventually be able to build back the trust and confidence every single day forth.”

Sevilla Agree To Sign Anthony Martial On Loan From Manchester United

0

Anthony Martial from Manchester United to Sevilla, done deal and here we go! Agreement reached tonight between the two clubs. The Player has accepted, Sevilla was his priority.

Sevilla will cover his salary until June. Martial will fly to Spain in the next hours.

United rejected an initial loan request from the Liga side earlier in the month but GOAL understands the issues have been ironed out and Martial is set for a medical in Spain.

Juventus were one of a number of other sides who were interested in the France international but sources say Sevilla were his preferred choice.

Martial was given the club’s blessing to talk to other clubs about a transfer this month after a chat in December with Ralf Rangnick, where he stated his intentions to leave due to a lack of playing time.

The 26-year-old has only started two Premier League games this season and an incident which was later described as a ‘misunderstanding’ between Rangnick and Martial saw the German manager declare the player had refused to be part of the matchday squad against Aston Villa a couple of weeks ago.

United rejected Sevilla’s initial loan request for Martial as they wanted a £5 million loan fee, as well as the club to cover his wages. At the time the Spanish side were only offering to cover half of his wages.

Since then Martial’s representatives have held talks with Juventus, but it is understood the player preferred a move to Spain and discussions between United and Sevilla progressed over the weekend. Martial was prepared to take a wage cut in order to push the deal through.

Sevilla are expected to pay United a loan fee and the deal will run until the end of the current season.

The Frenchman had talks with Rangnick shortly after he arrived to outline his plans to leave this month over a lack of playing time.

The 26-year-old came on as a second half substitute in the 1-0 win against West Ham on Saturday and those eight minutes were the first he had played under the German.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s arrival saw him fall further down the pecking order and after he had submitted his transfer request, he was omitted from the matchday squads. Rangnick told the media he wanted to include the Frenchman in the squad for the away-day trip to Villa in the Premier League but that the player refused to be involved.

Martial refuted those claims on his social media channels, saying he would never refuse to play for the club.

This season he has made just four starts in all competitions for United and ,is hoping to get more minutes in Spain to put himself in a better place to secure a position in France’s World Cup squad later this year.

We’ll Compensate Nigerians With World Cup Ticket – Moses Simon

0

Nigeria crashed out of the 33 rd Africa Cup of Nations after an unfortunate 1-0 loss at Roumde Adjia stadium Garoua, to Tunisia on Sunday. One of the major actors on the night was winger Simon Moses, whose exploits in the group stages made him a target for opposing defenders.

Indeed he received most of the attention from the Tunisians that he could hardly do any of those things he used to do in previous matches. Simon was clipped and the Super Eagles suffered.

He spoke with Sports Vanguard at Hotel Le Ribadou in Garoua yesterday. “Football is teamwork. I am used to it. What I used to do for my club is what I also do for the national team, even though they are two different entities,” the Nantes forward answered to a question on what he felt he could have done to save the team. “We all worked hard, it was only unfortunate that things didn’t go our way.”

He was full of apologies to Nigerians, Moses said, on the flip side, ”it is good because it is an experience I will learn a lot from. Same for the team. It happened so that everyone can learn from his mistakes and work on how to correct them.”

He confessed he was in tears, like most of his other colleagues because he couldn’t swallow the loss. “I thought about the Nigerian fans, I thought about my family and thought about myself and I said, this was not what we thought to do. We did not prepare for this. We wanted to go forward, but it did not turn out that way. The entire scenario was dampening.“

The nimble-footed winger said the Eagles were determined to compensate Nigerians with the 2022 FIFA World Cup ticket.

“Nigerians should be hopeful because our hope is to go to the World Cup. That is the only thing that can gladden their hearts and lift their spirits. I believe we will do everything within our powers to be at the World Cup.

The Minister in his presentation to the President, maintained that that “5G network is a viable platform for security institutions to leverage on, in tackling the security challenges that have bedevilled the country, by harnessing the potential of digital technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Augmented Reality (AR), Virtual Reality (VR), Robotics etc. which explore real-time information for maximum efficiency.”

He further disclosed that the “5G Network will enhance transparency and economic development as its potential for job creation is unprecedented.”

The Minister, who expressed gratitude to the President for the immense support enjoyed by the Digital Economy sector, also disclosed that the National Policy on 5G will achieve numerous goals, including the security of the ecosystem and the protection of data, ensuring that international best practice and globally accepted standards and specifications are entrenched in Nigeria’s ecosystem.

According to him, the formal launch of the 5G Network in Nigeria today is in furtherance of the Federal Government’s commitment to develop a thriving digital economy.

It will be recalled that the National Policy on 5G Networks was approved by the Federal Executive Council (FEC) on the 8th of September 2021 after a series of trials and multi-stakeholder engagements that eliminated perceived health risks.

In view of this development, the Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC on December 13th, 2021 auctioned the 3.5GHz spectrum auction for the Fifth Generation (5G) network licenses in which MTN Nigeria and Mafab Communications emerged winners.

The bids ended at $273 million for each, after nearly eight hours and 11 rounds of auctions which began at $199.37 million as against the reserve price of $197.4 million.

MTN Nigeria, Airtel Nigeria and Mafab Nigeria Communications Ltd participated in the live auction held at Hilton Transcorp Hotel, Abuja.

The surprise bidder for the 3.5GHz spectrum auction was Mafab Nigeria Communications Ltd, an underdog in the telecommunications sector of Nigeria.

The emergence of Mafab Communications as one of the successful bidders came as a surprise to most Nigerians because the company led by Alhaji Musibau Bashiru, was licensed in July 2020, as an International Data Access (IDA) by the NCC, defeating Airtel which has lasted over two decades in the sector as the oldest telecom operator in the country.
