Ukrainian Missile Takes Down Russian Jet [VIDEO]

Footage has emerged of the moment an alleged Russian jet was shot down over Ukraine’s second city Kharkiv earlier today.

Ukrainian Missile Takes Down Russian Jet [VIDEO]

Oleg Synegubov, the regional governor of Kharkiv, claimed that the Russian Su-25 fighter was destroyed by Kharkiv’s Air Defence Forces, which was later confirmed by the Kyiv Independent.

Video appears to show the plane erupts into a huge fireball as it is struck by two surface-to-air missiles (SAM) over Kharkiv’s city centre, before the twisted remains tumbled out of the sky and exploded again upon impact with the ground.

Ukrainian authorities confirmed the pilot managed to eject however, and is now being hunted down by Ukraine’s armed forces and territorial defence units in Kharkiv.

Synegubov said the plane was part of a squadron of between five and seven aircraft which have been conducting regular bombing runs over Ukraine’s second city.

Kharkiv is one of the cities worst hit by Russian bombing campaigns in recent days, after Putin ordered his forces to engage in sustained shelling of several locations across the country.

Ukrainian soldiers can be heard cheering at the sight of their occupiers’ burning aircraft streaking falling out of the sky, as the nation’s armed forces continue to put up a bitter fight against the Russian onslaught.

But Putin’s indiscriminate bombing campaigns, which have brought death and destruction to residential and administrative areas of Ukraine’s cities, are set to continue through the night.

The leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP has dismissed media reports of a purported 2023 election timetable, describing same as fake.

We Have Not Released 2023 Election Timetable – PDP

In a statement signed by its spokesman, Debo Ologunagba, the PDP noted that it’s schedule of activities in 2023 will be made known after due consultations and approvals by its relevant organs.

The statement read: “The attention of the National Working Committee, NWC, of the PDP has been drawn to a fake election timetable being circulated in the social media, purported to have been signed and released by the national organizing secretary of the PDP, Hon. Umar M. Bature, as the schedule of activities and timetable of the PDP for the 2023 general elections.

“The PDP states in clear terms that it is has not released any timetable or any schedule of activities whatsoever for the 2022/2023 electioneering year and no such document was signed and released by the national organizing secretary.

“For the avoidance of doubt, the PDP is a party of due process and will release a timetable and schedule of activities for the 2022/2023 electioneering year after extensive consultation and approval by critical and statutory organs of the party at appropriate levels.

“Clearly, the said timetable and schedule of activities being circulated in the social media is the handiwork of mischievous elements who seek to create confusion, mislead the public and distract our Party at this critical point in time.

“The PDP, therefore, calls on all members of our Party and the general public to discountenance the said timetable and schedule of activities as it did not emanate from the PDP.

“At the appropriate time, the official timetable and schedule of activities of the PDP, when approved will be formally announced and published through the official communication channels of our party and not in the social media.

“The PDP further calls on all members and Nigerians, in general, to remain focused and not allow themselves to be distracted in our determined mission to rescue and rebuild our nation from the misrule of the All Progressives Congress, APC.”

Russian Warlord Vladimir Zhoga Shot Dead

A leader of a rebel military group in the so-called Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), blamed for brutal war crimes and shooting Ukrainian POWs since its formation in 2014, was shot dead in battle.

Russian warlord Vladimir Zhoga, who headed the Neo-Nazi ‘Sparta Battalion’, was killed in Volnovakha, Ukraine, following the eleventh day of Russia’s invasion as Putin’s troops fail to make big wins.

Zhoga’s kill was yesterday confirmed in a Telegram channel post from Denis Pushilin, head of the breakaway DPR.

He wrote: ‘Today in Volnovakha, the commander of a separate reconnaissance battalion ‘Sparta’ of the Guard, Colonel Vladimir Zhoga, call sign Vokha, died heroically.

‘He was mortally wounded while ensuring the exit of civilians.

”Sparta’ covered the evacuation of civilians, mostly women and children. The Nazis opened fire on them…

‘I have signed a decree on conferring the title of Hero of the Donetsk People’s Republic on Vladimir Artemovich Zhoga posthumously.

‘He died a heroic death, just a little short of victory. But his feat brought it closer.

‘I express my sincere condolences to family and friends.

‘Rest in peace, Brother!’

Zhoga became the group’s leader in 2016 after his predecessor Arsen Pavlov died following an IED explosion in the lift of his apartment.

Pavlov was accused of several war crimes, and in 2015 the Kyiv Post shared audio of him, in a phone call with the news outlet, saying he shot ’15 prisoners dead’.

‘I don’t give a f**** about what I am accused of, believe it or not,’ he added.

‘I shot 15 prisoners dead. I don’t give a f****. No comment. I kill if I want to. I don’t if I don’t.’

A second attempt to evacuate refugees from Mariupol was scuppered again today after the city was shelled just minutes into an agreed ceasefire.

Some 400,000 residents were hoped to be evacuated from 12pm today, with an initial agreement in place until 9pm, but residents are now having to take cover in bomb shelters without electricity and water.

It followed similar attempts on Saturday when plans to evacuate refugees were halted when shelling recommenced 45 minutes into a ceasefire.

The International Committee of the Red Cross said: ‘Amid devastating scenes of human suffering in Mariupol, a second attempt today to start evacuating an estimated 200,000 people out of the city came to a halt.

‘The failed attempts yesterday and today underscore the absence of a detailed and functioning agreement between the parties to the conflict.’

However, in a telephone call with French President Emmanual Macron, Putin blamed Kyiv for the failed evacuations.

Putin instead claimed ‘Ukrainian nationalists’ prevented civilians and foreign citizens from leaving the port city and neighbouring Volnovakha.

But Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky today warned that Russian forces are preparing to shell Odessa – a historic port city on the Black Sea coast.

In a video address, the Ukrainian leader said: ‘They are preparing to bomb Odessa.

‘Russians have always come to Odessa. They have always felt only warmth in Odessa. Only sincerity. And now what? Bombs against Odessa? Artillery against Odessa? Missiles against Odessa?

‘It will be a war crime. It will be a historical crime.’

Stop Buying Terrorist State Russia’s Oil – Ukraine’s Ambassador To US Speaks Out

0

Discussions about a multi-national ban on Russian oil are gaining traction on Sunday as its autocrat leader Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine stretches into its eleventh day.

US To Remove Russia UN Diplomats

Kyiv’s ambassador to the United States urged President Joe Biden to halt Russian oil imports in an interview on Fox News Sunday, the day after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky made a similar plea during a video meeting with members of the US Congress.

Ukrainian Ambassador Oksana Markarova called for ‘tougher’ sanctions on Moscow during an interview with Fox News Sunday over its behavior as a ‘terrorist state’ as accusations of human rights abuses and targeted civilian killings mount.

Secretary of State Antony Blinken also revealed Sunday that the US was in ‘very active discussions’ with European allies over a wide blockade of Russian energy dollars.

He would not say whether the US was prepared to act unilaterally on such a ban, despite the wide gap between American imports of Russian oil and Europe’s dependence on it.

Russia is the world’s third-largest oil producer behind the US and Saudi Arabia. However, its crude oil accounts for roughly 13 percent of global trade, making it the largest exporter of crude.

And while US markets only bought about 8 percent of their liquid fuel from Moscow in 2021, according to the Energy Information Administration, Europe depends on it far more.

Russia was the largest exporter of oil and natural gas to the European Union in 2021, data from Eurostat show.

Meanwhile, prices at the pump are soaring in the US, both because of Russia’s war on Ukraine and 40-year high inflation plaguing American markets.

Blinken told NBC News’ Meet the Press that he discussed a ban on Russian oil imports with the president and members of his Cabinet on Saturday.

‘We are now in very active discussions with our European partners about banning the import of Russian oil to our country while, of course, at the same time, maintaining a steady global supply of oil,’ the US’s chief diplomat said.

He pointed out that the sanctions western governments have imposed so far have already had a ‘major impact’ on Russia’s economy. Last week the ruble was worth less than one cent as a result.

‘The actions we’ve taken to date have already had a devastating impact on the Russian economy. We see the ruble in free-fall, we see the economy heading into a deep recession,’ Blinken said.

‘We’ve already had a major impact. But we are looking, again, as we speak, in coordination with our allies and partners at this process of banning oil imports.’

Asked whether the US was prepared to act without Europe, Blinken touted the historic proportions of global coordination in Ukraine thus far.

The announcement was made on Sunday by Archbishop Antonio Filipazzi, Apostolic Nuncio (Representative of the Pope in Nigeria) during the ongoing First Plenary meeting of the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria in Abuja.

With the appointment, Ugorji replaces Archbishop Anthony l Obinna who has been in that position since March 26 1994.

In December 2020, he resigned his position as chairman, Governing Council of Imo State University, Owerri, to the surprise of Governor Hope Uzodinma.

He was said to have severally approached Governor Uzodinma on the proper funding of the University with the request that the State-owned tertiary institution cannot run or fund itself.

Ugorji reportedly said he could not understand how Uzodinma expected him to preside over an underfunded and stagnant University as a man of God.

The cleric was said to have observed that IMSU was not being run as an institution of higher learning deserving of Imo State University status and that in order to avoid dabbling into any mess, he opted to resign.

The US justice Department revealed that Kyari will be facing the charges filed in 2021 but declined to speak further on the process of his extradition.

In an email response, Thom Mrozek, the Director of media relations of the United States Attorney’s Office said,

We will not have any comment in relation to a pending extradition request for any defendant.”

“In relation to Mr Kyari, he already faces charges that we filed last year in Los Angeles after a federal grand jury issued an indictment.”

“I can tell you that all criminal defendants in the United States are entitled to legal representation.”

Kyari, a popular police officer in Nigeria was suspended by the Inspector- General of Police, Usman Baba in July 2021 over his alleged involvement in a $1.1 million Internet fraud allegedly perpetrated by disgraced fraudster, Ramon Olorunwa Abass a.k.a Hushpuppi.

Kyari is currently in detention after the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency declared his wanted for attempting to bribe an official of the agency with $61,000 to facilitate the release of seized cocaine. He was arrested by the police on February 14th, 2022.

The Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, SAN, in a statement by his Media Aide, Umar Gwandu, last week revealed that the Nigerian Government was ready to extradite Kyari.

The NDLEA filed eight counts against Kyari before a Federal High Court on Monday and that Kyari would be arraigned on March 7.

Woman Reveals Why She Settled For An Affair With 16-Year-Old Son In Nasarawa

0

Matina Agawua, a native of Yelwata, a remote settlement in Nasarawa State, has opened up on the reason for being involved in an abominable act.

In an interview with The Nation, Agawua said when she lost her first husband, she decided to remain a widow for 13 years.

She said but she could not conceive in the marriage which had lasted more than six years.

The woman said her in-laws threatened to show her the way out on the ground of not being able to have a child for their son.

“We had been married for more than six years but were still childless due to my husband’s fault, according to doctor’s report, and I was hearing from the grapevine that he was planning to take a second wife on the grounds that I could not give him a child.”

She said while she took fertility test, her husband did not deem it necessary to go for a medical check-up to ascertain the source of the problem.

She said she suspected that her husband was suffering from low sperm count which made him unable to father a child as the test she took showed that there was nothing wrong with her.

The woman said it was amid this crisis that she slept with her only son from her first marriage.

She added that to further convince herself about her fertility status, she decided to lure her son, a student in Akwanga, into a secret affair .

She said: “Since he is not comfortable with us going for medical checkup on the assumption that nothing was wrong with him, I decided to convince my little son, who is just about 16 years old and schooling in Akwanga.

“I visited him regularly. He stays in a private apartment with my relatives, so I was going there to spend some time with them, especially on weekends when my market is off.

“It was actually difficult making love with my own son, but circumstances forced me to go into it. I needed to be sure of my fertility.

“I know my husband very well. If he discovered I had an affair with a man outside, he would kill me.

“I love him so much and I’m afraid of him, so this evil plan kept ringing in my mind to know how fertile I am. I tried to visit my son in Akwanga mostly when I was on my ovulation period. I decided to develop a crush on him and draw him very close to me. We got intimate and ended up having s*x.

“One faithful day while I was on my ovulation period, I visited him. It was at about 11pm. I held his hand and made him sit beside me.

“I asked him if he had ever had s*x and he said no. I held him in my arms. This time, I felt warm and I think he too did. After that night, I felt extremely embarrassed, and guilty that I committed such an abomination with my own son.

“It was actually a taboo, but I warned him to keep it secret.”

Policeman Who Killed 3 Colleagues For Allegedly Having Affairs With His Lover Says He Regrets Sparing Life Of A Senior Officer

0

A police inspector, Mohammed Bello, who was arrested in Maiduguri, Borno State, for allegedly killing four of his colleagues after he accused them of having romantic affairs with his lover, has said he regretted sparing the life of a senior officer who ended his relationship.

Bello was said to have threatened to kill the Officer in Charge, Provost, Mobile Police Base 6, Maiduguri, Borno State, for destroying his relationship with the mother of his three children.

He had killed three of the riot policemen on Friday evening on the suspicion that they had extramarital affairs with his lover.

The fourth victim was said to have died later after he was hit by a stray bullet from the suspect’s rifle.

Bello was also said to have injured his brother-in-law, also a police inspector, after setting his house and two other apartments ablaze on Friday.

But speaking with our correspondent shortly before he surrendered himself to the police authorities in Maiduguri, Bello said, “The OC, Provost, is still alive? I wish I saw him when I had the AK-47 with me. I regret not killing him, Wallahi. He ruined my family and I desperately wanted to kill him. He made my wife leave my house without giving me a fair hearing,” he added.

It was learnt that the suspect, who was formerly attached to the Borno State deputy governor’s security details and was recently transferred to the headquarters of the mobile police base as a quarter guard due to an alleged mental disorder, had been living with the woman for about 10 years without meeting the conditions required to make her legally married to him.

This situation was said to have led to a disagreement between them, with Bello accusing his live-in lover of having sexual relationships with other men.

However, tragedy struck at about 7:30pm on Friday when he walked to her kiosk where she sold noodles and met three policemen and questioned her relationship with them.

A resident in the area, one Adam Usman, told our correspondent that Bello, who became enraged by the response of one of the policemen, accused them of having an affair with his lover and opened fire on them, killing them instantly.

“I was there at the Commander’s Market when the incident took place, though I was in the officers’ mess. My friend called my line and I left on time to witness the happening. When Oga Bello killed the three officers, everybody, including his wife took to their heels, leaving behind their two young children. He took the smallest child in his arms and walked straight to the house of his brother-in-law, who is also a police officer,” Usman added.

It was further learnt that his lover subsequently left his apartment in the barracks and moved into the apartment of her elder sister whose husband is also a police officer.

Meanwhile, the Borno State Commissioner of Police, Abdu Umar, while confirming the incident said the matter was still under investigation and that the suspect had been transferred to Abuja for further investigations.

“Yes, we woke up to this unfortunate incident but we are still investigating the matter to know the truth. The suspect has been flown to Abuja for further investigation. We shall make our findings known to the general public when the investigation is completed,” Umar said

No Going Back On Yahaya Bello’s Presidency, APC North Central Stakeholders Insist

0
Yahaya Bello

Stakeholders in the North Central Zone under the All Progressives Congress (APC) have said that the presidential ambition of Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, is non-negotiable even if the zone produces the party’s national chairman in the forthcoming convention.

According to them, even if the party’s chairmanship is zoned to Okene Local Council, Yahaya Bello will contest.

The APC stakeholders in the North Central Zone said this, yesterday, while reacting to a statement purportedly by a faceless group, “Stakeholders in Nasarawa State Council APC, appealing to Bello to sacrifice his presidential ambition for the rumoured national chairmanship position awaiting the zone.

In a statement by the Director-General, North Central Coalition for Leadership, Williams Oluwatoyin, the group said the purported appeal to Bello to relinquish his ambition belittles the zone.

They made this position on a day Bello officially presented staff of office to newly approved, graded and upgraded traditional rulers in Kogi State, at the Muhammadu Buhari Civic Centre, Lokoja.

According to the APC chieftains, Bello holds the overwhelming mandate of the North Central and Nigerians as a whole to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari.

“A Bello presidency can’t be sacrificed on the altar of ‘cash and carry politics,’” they maintained, while wondering what kind of zone would be satisfied more with producing a party chairman than producing a president.

“The said statement reportedly made by the Chairman of the Council, Kassim Muhammed-Kassim in Yola, claimed that the group endorsed Senator Abdullahi Adamu for the position of National Chairman in the forthcoming party’s convention.

“Without mincing words, we are the authentic APC stakeholders in the North Central and there is no other apart from us. We wonder what kind of zone would be satisfied with producing a party chairman than producing a president.

“We, the authentic stakeholders in APC North Central want to state categorically that we are in full support of Bello’s presidential ambition and we regard the purported appeal for him to back out from the race as standing logic on its head.

“By saying this, we do not by any means, infer that anybody should not vie for the chairmanship position in the North Central. What has come to stay, through popular demand, is that Bello will contest presidency notwithstanding where the party’s chairmanship position is zoned.

“It is obvious that these unknown individuals who brand themselves as stakeholders are singing the tune of their pay masters, but doing this at the expense of the wish and yearnings of the people is undemocratic and belittling the North Central, to say the least.

“For the avoidance of doubt, the North Central has produced the national chairman of the then ruling party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) not less than five times. What has this brought to our zone?

“Those who had occupied this position include: 1998-1999- Chief Solomon Lar, Plateau State; 1999-2001-Chief Banarbas Gimade, Benue State; 2001-2005- Chief Audu Ogbe, Benue State; 2005-2008- Col. Ahmadu Ali, Kogi State and 2011-2012- Alh Kawu Baraje, Kwara State.

“What has these chairmanship positions brought to our zone if dividends of democracy is our interest? Bello has demonstrated capacity, excellence and unequalled competence in governance and he holds the overwhelming mandate of the North Central and Nigerians to succeed Buhari. Bello’s presidency can’t be sacrificed on the altar of cash and carry politics.”

Wike Tackles APC For Rejecting Gender Bills

0

Rivers State Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, says the rejection of five gender bills by the National Assembly is a major setback for Nigeria’s democratic advancement.

The Rivers State Governor said this at the inauguration of Ahoada -Odiemerenyi -Ihugbogo -Odieke Road project in Ahoada-East Local Government Area on Friday.

He said women, including the wife of the President and Vice President, Mrs. Aisha Buhari and Mrs. Dolapo Osinbajo, had approached, lobbied and secured the promise of members of the National Assembly to act in their favour.

But rather than do so, the lawmakers voted against the bills.

“Look at what happened in the National Assembly. I watched it and I laughed when I saw our wives, and women were disgraced. It has never happened anywhere. I saw wives of the president and vice president go to the plenary session of the National Assembly to lobby them, to please help them.

“They (National Assembly) promised them. The party (APC) promised them. The same party that promised them failed them.”

Governor Wike said such will not be allowed to happen in progressive societies that have continues to harness the potential of women in the advancement of their countries.

He blamed the rejection of the bills on President Muhammadu Buhari’s lack of interest in allowing for affirmative action for women in political administration in the country.

“APC controls the National Assembly. If Mr. President was in support of this, there is no way they will disgrace women in the National Assembly. Such shameful thing.”

Speaking further, the Governor noted that the situation in his state is different because women are an integral part of the process of political administration of the state.

He explained that there are 23 female vice chairmen of local governments in Rivers State, and at least five female councilors in each local government area.

According to him, this is as a result of deliberate policy implemented by the Peoples Democratic Party leadership in the state.

“Look, in this State, as a matter of policy, we said we are going to do this and we agreed that if women cannot be chairman of councils, they cannot be refused the position of vice-chairmen.

“Today, in this State, all 23 vice-chairmen are women. Today, in this State, we said we must have five women as councilors in each local government. It is a matter of policy and It is leadership,” he said.

Speaking further Governor Wike said he has used politics and governance to better the socio-economic conditions of communities and make the people happy.

The Rivers State governor said sustaining national development and providing a thriving economy for Nigerians is not difficult to attain across the country.

He said a lack of passion in leadership to improve the life of the people, and tendency of the APC to inflict pains on Nigerians, inadvertently, creates the impression that governance is difficult.

For him, the sole aim of governance is to solve societal problems and ensure that the people are happy because of the improved social services that include development projects, delivered to them.

“There is nothing difficult in Nigeria. It is just because they want to punish the people. When people talk about Nigeria is lacking this, Nigeria is lacking that, I say it is because of the leadership.

“There is no passion for this country. They (APC) are not committed to the development of this country.”

Performing the inauguration of the 10.2km long road Ahoada -Odiemerenyi-Ihugbogo-Odieke Road project, former Governor of Kaduna State, Senator Ahmed Makarfi said Rivers State has a difficult terrain, and it takes courage and love to invest in such development endeavour to better life of rural dwellers.

He said just like the state, it is imperative for the PDP to take over power at the national level so that Nigerians will enjoy passionate leadership that is committed to their welfare.

Senator Makarfi, however, called for greater unity in the party and an undivided focus towards the return to power at the national level to reverse the failure of the APC.

Providing the description of the road, the Rivers State Commissioner for Works, Elloka Tasie-Amadi, said the Ahoada -Odiemerenyi -Ihugbogo -Odieke Road project is 10.2km long and 7.3m wide.

Tasie-Amadi explained that the road, which will benefit the many communities in Ahoada as it opens them up to three local government areas of the state.

“There will be improved access to local markets, health centres, educational facilities, public transportation etc.

“With the improved road access, more products will be available locally, and the number of local businesses will increase.

“The value of agricultural land will also increase significantly following the completion of this road. All these benefits put together will increase the net income of the targeted beneficiaries,” he said.

Meanwhile, Governor Wike who was a guest on Channels TV’s Politics Today later on Friday, also addressed other matters such as the issue of local government autonomy.
