A video has emerged of Andrew Nice, the Lagos Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) driver whose vehicle late Oluwabamise Ayanwole boarded and would be later murdered, confessing to having forceful carnal knowledge of the now-deceased lady.

Checks by ABN TV reveals that the one-minute, twelve seconds confessional statement clip was from the moment he was arrested by security operatives on Sunday night. He confessed to have committed a “dirty act” on Bamise, and also claimed he abandoned her and zoomed off.

This confession is different from the one Nice made when he granted an interview to TVC News on Monday. There, he said it was gunmen who attacked his vehicle.

Recall Ayanwole, 22, was found dead on Monday after she was declared missing following her commute on a Lagos BRT vehicle on Saturday evening.

Ayanwole got missing while returning to Ota, an Ogun State community that shares border with Lagos, from Ajah area of Lagos on Saturday, when she boarded a BRT bus with number 240257 going to Oshodi at about 7 p.m. at Chevron Bus-Stop.

Sensing danger as the driver didn’t pick passengers enroute to their destination apart from the four persons on board, Bamise had engaged a friend using voice notes on her phone. Going by the voicenote, Nice said he liked Bamise and asked to know her name and other personal details.

Bamise had also sent a video to her friend showing how dark it was in the bus.

Her killing has caused outrage on social media, with many wondering the audacity of committing crime inside a state-regulated vehicle.

66-Year-Old Chief Barr. Chidi Onyeabor For Burial April 29 [SEE POSTER]

All is now set for the final burial of Chief Barr. Chidi E.N Onyeabor at his country home, Umuaji House, Amaise Autonomous Community, Umuobiala Isuikwuator LGA of Abia State on Friday, April 29, 2022.

He passed on at the age of 66.

A burial arrangement made available to ABN TV by his son, MacDonald E. Onyeabor said a service of songs/wake keep will be held in his honour at his residence, Umuaji House, Amaise Autonomous Community, Umuobiala on Thursday, April 28, 2022 between the hours of 7-11pm.

At 9:30am Friday, April 29, body of late Onyeabor (PhD) will lie in state at his compound.

At midday, he will be laid to rest.

The family prays God to rest the peaceful soul of their departed one.

FG Gives Committee Three Months To Renegotiate 2009 Agreement With ASUU

The Federal Government has given its seven-person committee a deadline to conclude renegotiations of the 2009 Agreements reached with the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).

The committee which is chaired by Emeritus Professor Nimi Briggs, pro-Chancellor, Alex Ekweme Federal University Ndufu-Alike, has three months to conclude the renegotiation with ASUU.

Other members are Pro-Chancellor, Federal University, Wukari, Arc. Lawrence Patrick Ngbale, who represents North East; Pro-Chancellor, Federal University, Birnin Kebbi, Prof. Funmi Togunu-Bickersteth, representing South West and Pro-Chancellor, Federal University, Lokoja, Senator Chris Adighije, representing South East.

Also on the team are Pro-Chancellor, Federal University of Technology, Minna, Prof. Olu Obafemi from North-Central; Pro-Chancellor, Kano State University of Science & Technology, Prof. Zubairu Iliyasu, representing North West; and Pro-Chancellor, Niger Delta University, Wilberforce Island, Mathew Seiyefa from South-South.

The committee is expected to review the draft proposed FGN/ASUU Agreement, and has the following Terms of Reference:
a. Liaise and consult with relevant stakeholders to finalise the position of the Federal Government to the issues in the draft proposed FGN/ASUU Renegotiated Agreement;
b. Renegotiate in realistic and workable terms the 2009 Agreements with other university-based unions;
c. Negotiate and recommend any other issue the committee deems relevant to reposition the NUS for global competitiveness; and
d. Submit proposed draft agreements within three (3) months from the date of inauguration.

Don’t Be Intimidated, Flaunt Your Hijab On Duty, Hijrah Council Tells Female Police Officers

The Hijrah Council of Nigeria has called on Muslim police women across the country not to feel intimidated to wear hijab on their uniforms.

The position of the council followed the recent approval by the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Usman Alkali Baba, permitting the use of hijab on police uniforms.

The decision has been applauded by many Muslim individuals and bodies across the country who decried the molestations suffered by the affected women over the issue.

In a statement signed by the Amir of the Council, Prof. Lanre Badmus Yusuf, on Monday, the Council said it appreciates the gesture of the IGP.

Yusuf said it happened at a time the global community, especially forces in the western world, is recognising the use of hijab.

He asked Muslim women in the Force to make the best out of the opportunity by being modest and professional.

“As Muslim women working in the police, you should not shy away, feel intimidated or inferior in the utilization of hijab while in uniforms.”

“The development means the IGP is living up to the global standard and has gallantly putting Nigeria on the world map of countries that understands and recognizes the fundamental human right of Muslim women”, he added.

The Council, a non-political and non-cultural united body of all Muslims across the country, described the development as a mark of respect for the constitutional provision on the right to practice religion in the country.

It implored individuals, groups and religious bodies castigating the IGP for being modest to rethink and down tool their bigotry, adding that the use of hijab by Muslim women is compulsory regardless of their profession.

The council described the new mode of dressing as promoting the purity of women with no negative effect on people around them except mischievous one.

Apostle Chibuzor Chinyere, Founder and General Overseer, Omega Power Ministry International (OPM), Port Harcourt, on Monday received the two private guards, popularly known as ‘Happie Boys’ who went viral in a video showing them dancing while performing their duties.

Following the development, they were said to have been fired by their employers.

As fate may have it however, Apostle Chinyere announced an overseas scholarship for the duo and their Instagram handler.

In a Facebook post on Monday, the church stated that the decision of the General Overseer to award scholarships to the two former security guards is that they are too young to be out of school.

The post read, “How the boys who went viral for dancing at their duty post got their lives changed by a Nigerian pastor who is known for sending less privileged youths overseas to study on a scholarship.

“The man of God has promised to send these two boys and their Instagram page handler to study overseas alongside 40 other less privileged youths.

“He clarified that he is sending them to study abroad mainly because they are too young to be out of school and working as security guards, secondly, he believes they would meet many golden opportunities out there.”

Counsel to embattled Yoruba Nation agitator Sunday Adeyemo aka Sunday Igboho, Yomi Aliyyu, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), has explained why his client cannot leave the Benin Republic yet.

Aliyyu clarified that Igboho was released to attend to his health in a Beninese hospital.

ABN TV reports the 49-year-old agitator had spent over 231 days in Benin Republic prison after he was arrested on July 19, 2021.

Alliyu said: “Igboho has not been released; he was only released to be taken to the hospital to attend to his ill health.

“The last time we spoke, I told you that we were making arrangements to take him to the hospital over his ill health. So, he was released based on health grounds.

“I am to inform you that Chief Sunday Adeyemo has been released from prison to his medical practitioners under the agreement that he should not leave the medical centre or Cotonou for any reason.

“Praises should be given to two prominent Yoruba personalities to wit Professor Wole Soyinka and Professor Akintoye for this turnaround in our client’s matter.”

Strong indications emerged, on Monday, that Yoruba Nation activist, Chief Sunday Adeyemo, fondly called Sunday Igboho has been released by the Beninese Government.

The activist was said to have been released to a leader of the Ilana Omo Oodua Worldwide, Professor Banji Akintoye, and a French Language Expert/Deputy leader of Ilana Omo Oodua Worldwide, Professor Wale Adeniran.

Akintoye, in a statement by the Communications Secretary to Ilana Omo Oodua Worldwide, Mr Maxwell Adeleye, described the release of Ighoho as a “triumph of truth over darkness in Yoruba Land.”

But his counsel, Mr Yomi Alliyu, SAN, said that he was released to attend to health in a Beninese hospital.

Political stakeholders from the Arochukwu Local Government Area of Abia State have agreed to resolve their differences to forestall a repeat of the 2019 misfortune of the party in the 2023 general elections.

The stakeholders who spoke during the ongoing familiarisation cum reconciliation tour of the State Executive Council of PDP at the Council headquarters weekend admitted that there were some cracks and internal wranglings that led to the party’s misfortunes in 2019, but agreed to put their house in order ahead of 2023.

In a remark, Senator Mao Ohuabunwa said he was among those who should be angry following internal betrayals and sabotage that scuttled his return bid to the Senate, but explained that he had decided to put everything behind in the interest of the Council.

The former Leader ECOWAS Parliament regretted that Arochukwu which occupied a strategic place in Abia politics had suddenly been relegated to the background because of needless internal bickerings.

He, however, said that stakeholders from the Council had decided to resolve their differences and strategise ahead of 2023, vowing that “the mistake of 2019 will never happen again”.

The former Senate Committee Chairman on Primary Health and Communicable Diseases regretted that those who were dragging projects with him while he was at the Senate had not been able to Commission any new project since he left office in 2019.

” There was a time project were being dragged in Abia North. Somebody said he attracted Mmori Bridge, Ndi Ebem Bridge, Ugwuakuna Health Centre and others. But since I left I don’t know if the person has commissioned any new project?

” Why have all the projects been abandoned? The truth is now obvious to all”.

On the growing tension over which zone will produce the next governor of the state in 2023, Ohuabunwa tasked the leadership of PDP to take a position on that, insisting that it is entirely a party affair to zone political offices.

He argued that since providence power began with Abia North in 1999, it would be reasonable and fair that power, having gone round, should rotate back to the zone in 2023 so as to sustain the prevailing peace in the state.

Senator Ohuabunwa thanked the PDP Chairman, Rt. Hon. Asiforo Okere for his efforts to unite the party, submitting that the greatest legacy he could bequeath to the party is to sustain the power rotation arrangement.

Former Commissioner for Commerce and PDP chieftain from the Council, Dr Sampson Orji, noted that every LGA had its own unique challenges but expressed optimism that the party would triumph over its challenges in the area.

He said that “whatever does not encourage reward for party loyalty is a monster which must be confronted”.

PDP Vice Chairman, Abia North, Elder Amah Abraham, said Arochukwu had produced global players, and could not afford to be relegated to the background in the political leadership of Abia North.

He said he was convinced that if PDP stakeholders from the Council decided to work together as one family, no political party would be able to dislodge the party.

” In 2019 we defeated ourselves. We can contain the opposition if we are together. What we need now is to forgive ourselves and forge ahead”, he submitted.

He bemoaned the deplorable condition of the Arochukwu-Ohafia federal road and appealed to the State Government to prevail on the federal government to rehabilitate the road.

Some key stakeholders present at the event were the member representing Arochukwu Ohafia federal constituency at the House of Representatives, Hon. Uko Nkole; former Secretary to State Government, SSG, and the incumbent Commissioner for Cooperative Societies, Mazi Donatus Okorie; and former Commissioner for Finance, and Provost, Abia State College of Education (Technical) Arochukwu, Dr Philip Nto.

Others were the PDP House of Assembly flag bearer in 2019, Hon. Eric Aso Kalu; Arochukwu Council boss, Prince Dan Kalu Orji; former Council Chairmen, Dr Okerie Afia, Princely Kingsley Ngunu, among others.

The PDP Chairman, Okere thanked the stakeholders for their resolve to unite ahead of 2023, describing Arochukwu as a PDP stronghold.
