Madrid Rejects Ronaldo's Return After Man Utd Failure
Manchester United player, Cristiano Ronaldo, and his partner, Georgina Rodriguez, have announced the death of one of their newborn twins.
The soccer star, who was expecting twins with Rodriguez, revealed on Monday that while the female was alive, the male had died.
Ronaldo, in a statement posted on social media on Monday, said losing the baby is the greatest pain any parent can feel.
It read, “It is with our deepest sadness we have to announce that our baby boy has passed away.
“It is the greatest pain that any parents can feel.
“Only the birth of our baby girl gives us the strength to live this moment with some hope and happiness.
“We would like to thank the doctors and nurses for all their expert care and support. We are all devastated at this loss and we kindly ask for privacy at this very difficult time. Our baby boy, you are our angel. We will always love you.”
Ronaldo was already father to four children. His eldest son, 11-year-old Cristiano Jr, plays for United’s youth teams.
The Speaker of Abia State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Engr Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji earlier today attended the funeral service of Late Chief Charles Ezejinkeya Onuzuruike at Williams Memorial Secondary School Field, Afugiri.
While delivering his condolence message to the family, the Speaker commiserated with them and urged them to be consoled by the fact that their father lived a fulfilled life.
The Speaker advised the family to live in unity, peace, and follow the core standards set by their father who distinguished himself while alive. He told them that his thoughts were with the family, and prayed God to accept the soul of Late Chief Charles Onuzuruike in his bosom and grant the family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike has faulted the anti-corruption fight of President Muhammadu Buhari following the state pardon granted to a former Governor of Plateau, Joshua Dariye, and his Taraba State counterpart, Jolly Nyame, who were convicted for corruption.
This is he also asked the President to disband the Economic and Financial Crime Commission and the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission since their efforts were coming to naught after painstakingly working to nab corrupt officials who were later being granted a presidential pardon.
Wike, according to a statement by his Special Assistant, Media, Kelvin Ebiri, spoke while addressing the Peoples Democratic Party delegates in Kano State on Monday as part of his ongoing consultation ahead of the party’s presidential primary.
He said: “This is the same government that complained against the judiciary that it is not fighting against corruption. Now, look at what the judges have passed through; sleepless nights from the FCT High Court to the Court of Appeal to the Supreme Court, everything is wasted.
“If President Muhammadu Buhari knows that he doesn’t want to fight corruption, then, he should disband EFCC and ICPC because he has thoroughly embarrassed them.
“So, all these things he (Buhari) is doing is because of the election coming soon. They want this person in Plateau State to help them and they want this person in Taraba State to help them. But it will not work because Wike will face them in that election.”
On why he did not attend the Council of State meeting where the pardon was approved, Wike clarified that he boycotted the meeting to avoid being “ambushed” because the agenda of the meeting was not disclosed.
He said: “So, when his (Buhari) pressman (Garba Shehu) said I was invited to the Council of State, is it because I’m not there, that is why they did what they did?
“If you wanted me to contribute, you would have sent me the agenda. Then, I would have known what I’m coming to do in the meeting. It’s not when you don’t send me the agenda, I come, then you boxed us in, ambushed us, then you said I attended the meeting where they approved it. I will not attend such a meeting.”
He added, “When they said my deputy attended and when they looked back they could not see my deputy again. Why would you see her?
“When she had seen what was there, she had to switch off because she knew it was a wayo. That is what this APC government is known for.”
The Police Command in Lagos State said on Monday that it had begun an investigation into the alleged viral rape video purportedly depicting students of Chrisland School, Lagos.
The spokesman for the command, SP Benjamin Hundey, said in a statement that the Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Abiodun Alabi, ordered the investigation.
Recall that a video of a 10-year-old female student of Chrisland Schools Lagos, allegedly raped by fellow students during a trip to Dubai, UAE, went viral recently.
The incident reportedly happened when the students travelled to Dubai to participate in the World School Games from March 10 to 13, where the school won over 30 medals.
Hundey quoted the police boss as saying that the investigation would establish the identities of the players in the video, the true incident in the video, and the geographical location of the incident.
The investigation will also cover the alleged threat to life against a student of the school and circumstances surrounding the alleged repeated pregnancy tests conducted on a student without parental consent.
“The attention of the Lagos State Police Command has been drawn to an alleged rape video purportedly depicting students of Chrisland School, Lagos, going viral on social media.
“The command is equally taking cognisance of the cybercrime angle to the whole episode and will not hesitate to enlist the support of the Interpol should the need arises.
“For a holistic and unbiased investigation, the command shall be working with relevant ministries, departments, agencies, and non-governmental organisations,” he said.
He gave the assurance that due diligence would be observed to ensure that there was no miscarriage of justice.

The Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, has fired back at those who accused President Muhammadu Buhari of dividing Nigeria with his style of leadership.
Adesina exonerated Buhari from causing divisions in the country, noting that their unguarded speeches divided the country. The Special Assistant to the President stated this in a tweet on Monday.
Recall that the Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Hassan Matthew Kukah, yesterday lambasted Buhari, saying that every sector in Nigeria is broken.
Kukah noted that the only thing that is alive and well in the country was corruption.
“With everything literally broken down, our country has become one big emergency national hospital with full occupancy..
“Our individual hearts are broken. Our family dreams are broken. Homes are broken. Churches, Mosques, infrastructure are broken. Our educational system is broken.
“Our children’s lives and future are broken. Our politics is broken. Our economy is broken. Our energy system is broken. Our security system is broken. Our roads and rails are broken. Only corruption is alive and well.
“One would be tempted to ask, what is there to say about our tragic situation today that has not been said? Who is there to speak that has not spoken? Like the friends of Job, we stare at an imponderable tragedy as the nation unravels from all sides.

Reacting to Kukah’s Easter message, Adesina averred that, those accusing Buhari of dividing the country are the ones that used their mouths and unguarded speeches to divide Nigeria.
His words: “Those who divided Nigeria with their mouths, with evil, unguarded speaking, are the ones now accusing President Buhari. How sad! Their wicked intentions shall not come to pass.”
Nigerian singer, Divine Ikubor, popularly known as Rema has lamented over the lingering Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU strike.
ASUU embarked on a one-month warning strike on February 14th and extended it by another two months, over the alleged failure of the government to fulfil its agreements.
Students have been at home since then waiting for the strike to be called off.
Rema who had earlier disclosed he got admission to study at the University of Lagos, UNILAG, on Monday urged ASUU to call off the strike.
He lamented that he has not started schooling since he got the admission.
The 21-year-old star said this via this Twitter handle.
His tweet read: “ASUU, since dem give me admission I never start school o, e don do nau!”
Meanwhile, Chris Ngige, the Minister of Labour and Employment, at his last meeting with ASUU told the union to look for better ways to pressurize the ministry of Education rather than embarking on strike.
The minister noted that he has no control over the current impasse between the Federal Government and the ASUU, adding that things are above his control because he’s not the Minister of Education.
