A former Vice President and leading presidential aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has unveiled a five-point agenda, which he said will revamp Nigeria’s ailing economy and transform its political landscape if elected the country’s President next year.

The agenda is contained in a policy document released yesterday from his campaign office in Abuja.

In the document, Atiku said, “I am offering myself again to provide the desired leadership. I have a history of economic reform and political transformation. As a private businessman of many years, I have a deep understanding of our economy and its challenges.”

According to him, while he was vice president he led the economic management team and is credited for designing the private sector revival strategy and opening up the economy for private sector investments, especially in the IT sector which is now one the fastest growing services sector in the Nigerian economy.

He said he would replicate this on a larger scale with a five-point development agenda that seeks to restore Nigeria’s unity through equity; establish a strong and effective democratic government; build a strong, resilient and prosperous economy; promote a true federal system and improve and strengthen the education system to equip its recipients with the education and skills required to be competitive in the new global order.

Atiku noted that though the APC-led government continued to blame the opposition and other external factors for the woes, it was evident that that there was a leadership vacuum that needed to be filled with competent hands.

This is coming barely 24 hours to the primary election scheduled to hold on Thursday, May 26, 2022.

According to Abiola, there is so much indecision in the Abia State chapter of APC which he insists he will not be part of.

As a member of APC and an aspirant, I believe that I’m are entitled to certain privileges. The indecision in APC Abia State chapter is reason why I’m withdrawing.

“There’s a lot of indecisions. Tomorrow (Thursday) is the date for the primary election and I’m an aspirant whom the delegates should be made available to but up till this moment, I don’t know who the delegates are, neither do I even know the mode of the election whether direct or indirect.

“How will I be an aspirant who has made so much impact, in Umuahia Central and at this moment I don’t even know what is going to happen tomorrow.

“I can’t even determine my fate, so it’s sad and I cannot leave my fate to be ridiculed in such an atmosphere,” he said.

While not announcing his new political family, Mr. Abiola said he will meet with his constituents to seek their advise on the new political move.

He stated that politics should avail all participants opportunity to test their popularity fairly, maintaining that some individuals are favoured over others in Abia State chapter of APC.

He therefore urged his supporters to remain calm and law abiding, stating that the journey to offer them an effective representation is still ongoing.

A Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) and human rights lawyer, Mr Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa, has called for the recall and prosecution of the Senator representing Anambra North, Stella Oduah.

Adegboruwa also maintained that Oduah should be barred from seeking any elective positions and made to refund salaries and allowances she received as the Aviation Minister during former President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration and Senator.

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) had in a letter replying to a request by the Concerned Anambra North Peoples Democratic Party Stakeholders said Oduah did not have a valid NYSC certificate.

The PDP group, which alleged that Oduah claimed her NYSC certificate got missing in transit “to scale through ministerial and senate screening formalities,” requested the service to validate the claim.

In his response, the Director-General of the NYSC said though Oduah was mobilised for the national service in 1982/83 and deployed to Lagos State, she absconded after the orientation and never completed the service.

“The consequence of this is that she is not qualified for the issuance of the certificate of national service,” the Director-General wrote in the letter dated 24th May, 2022, and signed on his behalf by Eddy Megwa.

In 2014, Oduah reportedly deposed to an affidavit and obtained a police extract where she stated that she sometime in 2010 while in transit from Akili in Ogboru Local Government Area to Abuja, she discovered that some of her personal belongings were missing.

Commenting on the NYSC revelation in an interview with Daily Trust, Adegboruwa said the senator, whose case is similar to that of Kemi Adeosun, former Minister of Finance, should be arrested and tried for perjury.

He said, “The court position on Adeosun’s case is that possession of NYSC certificate or even participation in that scheme is not a condition for seeking an elective office. But if a person swears on oath that she participated but the certificate got lost and the agency said it didn’t have her record or she didn’t participate and she has lied on oath, that is perjury. She should be liable to be tried for lying on oath.

“If she used that certificate to be elected as Senator, people should be able to go to court to reverse her election and she should refund all the salaries and allowances she has collected for that particular period and ensure that she is prosecuted by relevant law enforcement agencies.”

The lawyer noted that people who want to aspire to a position of public trust must put themselves above board, saying that Oduah should face the consequences of her action.

He added, “If sufficient evidence is produced to show that she used this excuse (that her NYSC certificate got missing) to secure ministerial appointment and elective office to the hallowed chamber of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, any court should be able to make a declaration to disqualify her from aspiring to public office for the rest of her life. She is liable to be barred from aspiring to any public office if this is true.”

Tinubu Will Not Get APC Ticket, Won't Succeed In Another Party – Prophet Olujobi

Prophet Bisi Olujobi of Wisdom Church International in Lagos says former Governor Bola Tinubu will lose his presidential bid.

The cleric noted that his monthly prophecies “as ordained by God”, revealed events that will happen in Nigeria soon.

In a statement on Wednesday, he declared: “Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu will not clinch the APC presidential primary election that is slated for the end of this month, May.”

Olujobi noted that the leading All Progressives Congress (APC) aspirant “will be shocked as there are strong conspiracies waiting for him”.

“I see Tinubu cheaply humbled and humiliated. His plan to shift tent to another party will also not work, as it is not in the mind of God for him to rule this nation.”

Olujobi added that the politician’s health “is not in order and the conspiracy against him is too heavy for him to bear”.

The religious head further urged Tinubu, the APC national leader, to seek God’s face concerning his life.

He, however, maintained that no level of permutation or arrangement will work in the 2023 presidential election as witnessed previously.

On the Osun governorship election, he said the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Ademola Adeleke will defeat Governor Gboyega Adetola of the APC.

“I hear Jimoh Ibrahim is struggling for Ondo senatorial seat. The man should stay back and enjoy his money. He will be shocked.

“Pastor Tunde Bakare has left the needful and busy chasing shadows. The spirit of God has left him long ago and that is why he fumbles up and down.”

Olujobi said Bakare cannot win a local government councillor election, let alone become Nigeria’s President.

The pastor however alerted that the movie music industry “is deeply entrenched in occultism”.

“That is why most of their giants don’t last. The body should do spiritual sanitation quickly to have a better turn around”, he urged.

Olujobi advised Chiwetala Agu, Adebayo Salami, John Okafor (Mr ibu), and King Sunny Ade to be prayerful.
