FG Planning To Jail Nnamdi Kanu Without Trial, US Lawyer Tells Ohanaeze In A Letter, Gives Advise

Have Mercy On Nnamdi Kanu, Ohanaeze Begs Buhari

Bruce Fein, the United States-based lawyer of the leader of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, has written to the Ohanaeze Ndigbo.

He warned the group not to sit on the legal fence, noting that Nigeria plans to imprison Kanu indefinitely without trial.

The letter dated May 31, 2022 was addressed to the President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, George Obiozor, and made available to newsmen by Kanu’s Special Counsel, Aloy Ejimakor, on Tuesday.

In the letter, Bruce Fein of Bruce Fein Law Firms, Washington DC exposed alleged plans by the Federal Government to imprison Nnamdi Kanu indefinitely without a trial praying for either for his death.

“It has become obvious beyond a reasonable doubt that the Fulani zealots have no incriminating evidence against him. They aim to imprison Nnamdi Kanu indefinitely without a trial praying for either for his death or handing his fraudulent prosecution to the next administration and wash their hand like Pontius Pilate,” part of the read.

Part of the letter read, “For nearly a year, Nnamdi Kanu has been punished by indefinite detention in solitary confinement and denied access to needed nutrition, medical care, and counsel of choice in violation of international human rights law and the Nigerian Constitution. (The Fulani government notoriously honors the Constitution in the breach rather than in the observance). Nnamdi Kanu has also been denied his rights to a public, prompt, and fair trial before an impartial judge.

“The Fulani have amended the charges against Nnamdi Kanu three times. They remain infinitely vague. They trespass on the universally recognized international law right of every people to self-determination exalted in Article 1 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights and Article 3 of United Nations General Assembly Resolution 61/295, Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (2007). Notwithstanding armies of lawyers and investigators, the Fulani remain unprepared for trial after the elapse of more than 11 months since Nnamdi Kanu’s detention in Abuja. There still is no trial date.”

Fein, who is Nnamdi Kanu’s international lawyer and spokesperson further warned Ohanaeze, “Face up to your legal and moral responsibilities as professed Biafran leaders. Do not show your heels when danger appears.

“To whom much is given, much will be required. Luke 12:48. All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men and women to do nothing.

“Nnamdi Kanu is one of you – born on the same soil, raised on the same food, buoyed by the same music and dances, and nurtured by the same culture, inspired by the same flag. He has risked that last full measure of devotion (including dodging bullets of would-be assassins) to deliver the Biafran people from the cruel oppressions and genocide of the Fulani-controlled Government of Nigeria like Moses and Pharaoh in the Old Testament.”

Fein said the prosecution climbed to a new level of farce on May 25, 2022, adding, “A bail hearing had been set by Justice Binta Nyako for May 26. Bail has been denied on the preposterous theory that Nnamdi Kanu previously jumped bail in September 2017 when he barely escaped an assassination attempt by exercising his unalienable right to self-preservation when Nigerian security forces riddled his residence with bullets murdering many others. An Abia High Court has awarded Nnamdi Kanu 5 billion naira for that flagrant and notorious violation of fundamental rights.

“The day before the bail hearing, Justice Nyako announced through the court Registrar that she had become “indisposed” and had adjourned the case another month to June 28, 2022. Couldn’t the Justice concoct a better excuse, like affliction with Covid? “Indisposed” means a mild illness that passes in days. A more likely explanation is that Attorney General Abubakar Malami, acting on the instructions of President Muhammadu Buhari, ordered Nyako to again postpone the proceedings because the prosecution has no case.

“Depend upon it. Without public denunciation of Nnamdi Kanu’s continued political persecution thundering like a hammer on an anvil demanding his release and a dismissal of the manufactured charges with prejudice, the June 28 bail hearing will also be postponed ad infinitum. Nnamdi Kanu’s cruel punishment without trial will persist in notorious violation of the Nigerian Constitution and international law.

“You collectively, have a legal and moral duty to speak out publicly against this travesty of justice that daily inflicts great misery on the Biafran people. Do not become traitors to the noble cause. Risk a tiny fraction of what Nnamdi Kanu has risked to regain Biafran sovereignty. It was stolen by the British over a century ago and the Fulani have refused to restore it by resorting to genocide.

“Silence is not acceptable. Neutrality between the firefighter and the fire is not an option. You cannot escape the judgment of history. Show you are made of sterner stuff than quislings.”

Recall that last June, Nnamdi Kanu was kidnapped, tortured for several days, and extraordinarily renditioned from Nairobi to Abuja in a criminal conspiracy between Nigeria and Kenya.

Fein advised, “The conspiracy was part of an ongoing Nigerian genocide of Biafrans prohibited by the Genocide Convention. The aim is to exterminate them through killings, rape, plunder, starvation, theft of real and personal property, and a collective denial of livelihood.”

Omeruo Regrets Leganes’ Failure To Secure Laliga Promotion

Kenneth Omeruo has bemoaned Leganes’ failure to secure promotion to Laliga Santander in the just concluded Laliga SmartBank season.

Leganes had aimed to return to the Spanish top-flight league last season after they were relegated in 2020. However, they finished 12th on the log.

While Almeria striker and compatriot Sadiq Umar is relishing a great time in the top division next campaign or a move to a bigger club after helping his side to win Laliga 2 championship and securing promotion, Omeruo, who scored two goals last season in 17 league games, including against Almeria on the final day, will have to spend another season in division one.

In a post he made on social media to reflect on the season, the 28-year-old found something to cheer, for and noted that the team will “go again”.
He wrote: “Great way to finish the league…unfortunately, our goal wasn’t achieved…we go again…Vamos Lega.”

Omeruo played 19 games in all competitions for CD Leganes in the 2021/22 campaign. The center-back played 17 Laliga2 games and scored two goals as Leganes finished 12th in the Spanish second-tier league. He also played two Copa del Rey matches and made one goal assist.

Leave Liverpool Now – David James Advises Mane

Former England international, David James has advised Liverpool forward, Sadio Mane to make a move and join another great club.

James believes it’s the right opportunity for Mane to move to another country after winning a number of trophies with Liverpool.

Mane, 30, has been heavily linked with a move away from Liverpool this summer in the past few days.

Reports had emerged that the 30-year-old is set to join Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich.

Mane has just over a year left on his current deal with Liverpool with reports claiming that the former Southampton star will cost more than £30 million this summer.

He has been a key figure in Liverpool’s success in recent seasons and has scored 23 goals and registered five assists in his 51 appearances across the campaign.

Speaking to GGRecon, James said: “This is a guy that has won so much and done so well with Liverpool. I look at him in a very positive way. This is a guy that has traveled around in his career a little bit, and therefore the idea that he could travel to another country would make sense.”

He added: “Having just turned 30, he is sort of at the height of his powers. He has been successful with a number of trophies with Liverpool, especially with two trophies this year, and with Senegal, qualifying for the World Cup and winning the Africa Cup of Nations, which is one of the major things he wanted to achieve.”

“For any performer, you would say, where is my best opportunity for me to make the next move and I would argue that now for Mane it’s the right opportunity. It is nothing against Liverpool. I don’t think many would argue against it.”

Man United Will Improve Under Ten Hag – Maguire

Man United Will Improve Under Ten Hag - Maguire

Manchester United captain Harry Maguire has revealed that the team will experience massive improvement under new manager Erik ten Hag.

Maguire suffered badly in a nightmare campaign that saw Ole Gunnar Solskjaer get sacked and Ralf Rangnick could not save them from having their worst season in Premier League history. Former Ajax boss ten Hag has now taken over at Old Trafford and Maguire insists they are ready to put right what went wrong last season.

Maguire said: “We’ve had a really low season so for a new manager to come in, I’m sure the first day of pre-season everybody will be buzzing around, doing their best to impress and everyone coming back in shape because we have a big season ahead of us for sure.

“The reality was that we weren’t doing that. When you are not winning matches, the confidence and belief of the team go down. It’s behind us now. We have a new manager in, one that we are really looking forward to working with and we are looking forward to a good start.”

Maguire is still at a loss to explain why it went so badly wrong at Old Trafford as they finished sixth and led to club legend Solskjaer getting the sack.

Maguire added: “It’s been a tough season, no hiding away from that, very disappointing from the goals we had at the start of the season to where we were at the end of the season. As captain of the team, it was nowhere near good enough throughout the season.”

“The last few games of the season you could see that it was nowhere good enough and it looked like the results especially showed, the performances weren’t there.

“Yes, it was a very disappointing season individually but also for me personally and collectively as a group.”

Flying Eagles Will Play Quality Friendly Matches To Prepare For 2023 U-20/AFCON – NFF

The General Secretary of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Mohammed Sanusi, has promised that the victorious Flying Eagles at WAFU Zone B Championship will play “quality” friendly matches to get ready for the 2023 U-20 AFCON.

Against expectations, the Nigerian team won the competition staged in Niamey, Niger Republic, earlier this month by defeating the Young Squirrels of Benin Republic 3-1 in the final.

The Ladan Bosso-led boys were impressive throughout the competition, winning three of their four games and drawing one. The team picked one of the two tickets to the AFCON championship taking place in Egypt next year.

Sanusi stated that the NFF will provide the team with all the necessary support, including keeping the squad together.

“The work is for us to do what we are supposed to do by giving all the necessary encouragement, to keep them together, arrange quality friendly matches for them, both at home and abroad and monitor their performance at their clubs. That is the best way to go,” Sanusi stated.

Indications have emerged that Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, will run for the Sokoto South senatorial seat.

Tambuwal had stepped down his presidential ambition for a former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, few minutes before voting commenced at the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) national convention last weekend in Abuja.

Tambuwal will complete his second term in office next year. His immediate past Commissioner for Land and Housing, Aminu Bala Bodinga, is PDP’s candidate for the senatorial seat.

However, Bodinga was said to be holding the ticket pending the outcome of the presidential primary. Therefore, he may be asked to withdraw from the race to pave way for Tambuwal to get the ticket in a fresh senatorial primary.

Bodinga has been among the closest allies of Tambuwal since 2015 when he (Bodinga) was at the state assembly as member representing Bodinga South Constituency and their relationship grew stronger in 2018 when he joined the governor in PDP.

In 2019, the governor appointed Bodinga as Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development after losing his state assembly seat to the APC candidate, Tukur Bala, during the general elections.

The governor later redeployed him to the Ministry of Land and Housing from where he resigned and contested the Sokoto South senatorial ticket of PDP and won unopposed.

The senatorial seat is currently occupied by Senator Ibrahim Danbaba who recently defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC), saying he left PDP due to protracted internal crisis.

However, a source privy to the development Danbaba dumped PDP after it became clear that it was the governor who asked Bodinga to aspire for the ticket.

This is not the first time Tambuwal will run for another office after losing the presidential ticket.

In 2018, when he lost the PDP presidential primary in Port Harcourt, Tambuwal took over the governorship ticket from his Deputy, Manir Dan’iya, contested election and won.

I Was Kidnapped By Fulani Herdsmen Working With Soldiers, Paid N100m As Ransom – Methodist Prelate Reveals

N100m Paid For My Release, Abducted Methodist Cleric Breaks Silence
His Eminence Samuel Uche

The Methodist Church Nigeria Prelate, His Eminence Samuel Kanu Uche, have narrated his near death experience in the hands of kidnapper,

the Prelate alongside the Bishop of Owerri Diocese, Rt. Rev. Dennis Mark and the Prelate’s chaplain were on Sunday, kidnapped in Umunneochi Local Government Area of Abia state.

Narrating his experience in a Press conference held at Methodist church yaba, Lagos state, the clergyman said their abductors were fulanis alleging that some personnel of the Nigerian Army from Fulani extraction were aiding the kidnappers in their activities

In the words of the Prelate;

“these people came out from the bush;they divided themselves into 3 places; some people fired at us and there was another group in front to make sure that we didn’t run away; they fired shots at our vehicle and eventually, they abducted 3 of us.

“The communication man of the church was able to escape, the driver was able to escape; the abducted me, the bishop of Owerri and my chaplain and they took us to the bush and were torturing us. It was in the process of that torture that I hit my right eye on a tree. Even when blood was flowing and I was soaking my eyes with a handkerchief, they didn’t feel like anything happened.

“All they said was that we should follow them; that they were not actually against Nigerian citizens but against the government, that the government is a bad government.

“they are Fulani boys; all the 8 are fulanis; they said the day they will see the president or any of his representatives they will chew him raw; that he is their brother but he has disappointed them and has disappointed Nigeria.

” I said even though am part of government, am a church man am not a government official; they said okay, that is what have saved you, we would have killed you out-rightly without asking for any ransom but now that you are a church man, lets go inside the bush.

“I trekked up-to 15 kilometers but I knew that we were rigmaroling, going up going down and eventually at 11pm they said okay now we can negotiate; each of us will pay N50million and we are going to pay N150million. I thought it was a joke; I said we were going to pay 10million and they said what? Don’t say that; they lifted up their knife to cut me,I said please hold on.”

According to the clergy, the leader of the group is about 35 years while the others are about 18.

He said they had taken his rings, chain, took the money they had on them and insisted on 150 million ransom.

The clergy said the abductors came down to 100million ransom, warning that if they negotiate, they would be killed.

“I said okay. We will pay you N100 million. After some time, they said where is the money and I said this is Sunday night how can we get money this night and you know that there is this sit at home in igbo land. We cant afford the money now be patient till morning, we will make contacts.”

He said they lost patient, laid bishop Dennis Mark down, raised a knife to cut him, while another pointed a gun at him (prelate) to show that they were serious,

I told them we will raise the money for you. But the irony of it, where they were situated, the soldiers all of Fulani extraction, Nigerian soldiers, they were there at Lomara junction and this boys were going behind them. Meanwhile they kept their cows somewhere, numbering about 200.

He said some people were taking care of the cows while the abductors were parading them around the bush until they settled at a place,

they said when are you bring the money? I said by 12 noon, I will call the people i’ve contacted whether the money had been raised and I called them, they said that they are gathering the money and they heard it because they said I will use my phone to talk, they cant use their phone, they don’t want to be tracked

“their leader was born in igbo land but his parents have died. He said he was born around Umuahia Amuzukwu and his father was a cow dealer, the boy understood igbo”

He said the leader threatened to kill them if they informed security operatives when they had raised N100million.

The leader asked them to buy 5 ghana must go bags and put N20million in each bag. They left to pick the ransom while four others waited on them with guns.

around 5;30pm, the youngest boy who I think is a younger brother to their commander said oga congratulations you are free you can go now. We have got our money, you can go. Let me show you the road.

“they took us to old road, where they wrote welcome to Imo’ and ‘goodbye from Abia”.

“they told us that after buying enough weapons, they are going to bring all those people that were driven away from zamfara, katsina, sambisa forest that they are all coming to locate themselves in igbo land and deal with us.

“he said do you know Ibadan expressway? We are in all the bush there , we are also in the south south, we are waiting for the slightest signal we will finish you people and take over this land. They claimed that Nigeria belong to Fulani.

The priest maintained that military personnel’s of Fulani extraction were aiding the kidnappers who disguise as herders in the daytime but are kidnappers at night.

He called on the government to take a decisive action ‘other wise what is happening in the north will be a child’s play”

On how they picked up the ransom, he said the terrorists came to the pick up spot with a truck without a number plate.

He stated that all efforts made to ensure that he is released was the effort of the Methodist church and her members and not security personnel nor government.

INEC Chairman Decries Monetised Politics, Says Votes Will Count In Ekiti

INEC Chair To Testify In Atiku’s Petition Against Tinubu
Professor Mahmood Yakubu

National Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, yesterday, described monetised politics as inimical for election, and it’s anti-democratic.

Yakubu assured that every vote of Ekiti electorate will count in the June 18 governorship election in the state, saying the commission will stand by the obligatory mission of ensuring that no extraneous interferences are allowed to affect the credibility of the poll adversely.

The INEC boss said this during an interface with the Ekiti State Council of Traditional Rulers in respect of the June 18 governorship election in the state.

His words: “I want to appeal to all voters in Ekiti that their votes will count. We would still return to interact with other critical stakeholders on how to have a peaceful election in Ekiti. The atmosphere now for the conduct of the 2022 election is so calm, unlike what we had in 2018.

“I asked myself what has changed, I was told the royal fathers had been working hard to ensure that the situation is calm and I could see it is very calm.

“In this election, there will be two ballot boxes in Ekiti East constituency 1, because they will elect their assembly representative together with the governor. There will be 16 political parties for the governorship election, but only two for the bye-election in Ekiti East.

“The number of registered voters in Ekiti is 989, 202. We expect the stake to go higher because people are still collecting their PVCs. Let me say that we are ready for the election. Our staff are being trained.

“The BVAS had been introduced and with the Smart Card Readers had been fully retired. As far as technology is concerned, there will be a seamless and fantastic election in Ekiti. There was a mock election here on Monday across the state and the machine worked 100 percent.

“Where the machine is unable to get the fingerprints, we will get the facial appearance of the voter. There won’t be an incidence form, we have abolished the incidence form as well. INEC is not a political party. We don’t have a candidate and all we want is leaving who leads Ekiti in the hands of the citizens and that we shall achieve.”

In his remarks, Oba Gabriel Adejumo, praised INEC for the voter registration exercise it had undertaken in the state, saying this would help in widening citizens’ participation in the exercise.

APC Presidential Primary: Support Your Brother Tinubu Not Lawan, Babafemi Begs Sen. Kalu

APC Presidential Primary: Support Your Brother Tinubu Not Lawan, Babafemi Begs Sen. Kalu
Orji Uzor Kalu and Bola Tinubu

As the ruling, All Progressives Congress APC prepares for its presidential primary election, a chieftain of the party, Hon. Jimoh Adewunmi Babafemi has urged the Senate Chief Whip, Sen. Orji Uzor Kalu to reconsider his decision on Lawan and support his southern brother and long-time ally, Bola Tinubu a former governor of Lagos State.

This is coming in less than six days to the Presidential primary election of the party in which political bigwigs are expected to slug it out for the party’s ticket.

Speaking to newsmen in Abuja, Babafemi said some leaders of South-West geo-political zone have met Sen. Kalu, a former Governor of Abia in three different occasions on the need for his support to Tinubu as the party’s candidate.

“We are pleading with Orji Kalu to reconsider his decision on Lawan and support his ally Tinubu,” He said

According to him, “Kalu is a man you ignore at your own Peril. He has seen it all and that is why we are making every effort to see that he reconsiders his decision.

“Last year, Asiwaju himself visited Kalu in his Asokoro residence and stayed with him for hours on this same issue. I thought they already reached an agreement. But surprisingly he has thrown his weight behind Lawan and you can see how it changed the dynamics of the entire politics. We are very confident that Tinubu will win but we want Kalu whose friendship with Tinubu dates years ago to also support him and support us.

“ I can not say that I am disappointed that he is supporting Lawan instead of Asiwaju (Tinubu) because it is his right to take a stand. But I know that With Asiwaju (Tinubu )he is sure of the Senate Presidency. Kalu is a young man who has a very bright future in the country.

“For the sake of stability and unity of the country, power should not be allowed to return to North. Since he is not running for president anymore let him support his bosom friend so they can win together.

Speaking further he said, “Kalu has deep friendship ties with the South West and also has a lot of Yorubas working for him. It is time he shows us that friendship and supports Asiwaju for the office of the president.

He revealed that he and others have held meetings with Kalu on three different occasions but he is still unyielding.

“Asiwaju is the most prepared to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023 judging by his acceptability.

“He is eminently qualified to lead Nigeria and Kalu knows he will work for the country. We can not risk any other aspirant in the country aside Tinubu “. Babafemi said

Recall that Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu who had dropped his presidential ambition has been drumming support for the emergence of the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan as APC Presidential Candidate.

Kalu’s support for Lawan has propagated him to be a major contender and the only aspirant that could challenge Bola Tinubu.
