UK-Based Nigerian Petitions EFCC, Narrates How General Overseer, Adegboyega Defrauded Her Of N60m

Nigerian based in the United Kingdom, Sheila Racheal Daniel, has petitioned the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over alleged fraud involving Reverend Dapo Adegboyega, the Board of Trustees Chairman of Salvation Proclaimers Army Church (SPAC) Nation, London, a Pentecostal church based in the United Kingdom.

Mrs. Daniel in the petition alleged that Adegboyega relocated to Nigeria after the fraudulent act.

“I am writing this letter to bring to your attention how I was defrauded of £194 thousand pounds interests included, by Dapo Adegboyega of SPAC Nation in the UK. I would like your team to call for his arrest.

“The incident occurred in 2012, Dapo Adegboyega requested that we assist him to take a loan for the purchase of a property for a church but he, however, arranged a remortgage of my property and eventually parted away with the money without acquiring the property for the church.

“I am requesting that he be invited and take full responsibility for his actions. Enclosed are evidence, document and signed agreement by him.”

According to SaharaReporters, Adegboyega defrauded Mrs. Daniel of £110,000 (N60,500,000, using N550 to £1).
Bank documents showed that he took a loan of about £106,264 with interest amounting to £195,940.44 with Mrs Daniel’s name and refused to pay everything back 10 years after.

A total of £85,000 was however paid back in a piecemeal fashion, leaving about £110,000.

Speaking with SaharaReporters, the victim said her traumatic ordeals in the hands of the pastor started after he approached her that he wanted to purchase a property for the church and that she should assist him with a loan.

“When he was my resident pastor at World Evangelism Bible Church (WEBIC), he asked us to assist him to secure a loan, that he wanted to purchase a property for the church. This was in 2012; we had a board meeting where he said he needed our help. And I replied that I would approach my bank and get back to him.

“I never knew he had other means of securing a loan. He talked about £10,000-£20,000. Anyway, to cut the long story short, he met with a broker – Grant & Hind – who gave him £110,000 and with interest amounting to £198,000, and the money was transferred into my own account. I was away when he called me that the money was in my account and that I should come back from my holiday and make the transfers; £90,000 to the church account and £20,000 to his own account.

“After that, he left the church with half of the members for his father’s church. Before leaving, he said my money would be paid back in full. He even made mentioned paying £50,000 that day. Right there in the pulpit/altar. When he finished talking, I approached him and he said I knew where the money went so why was I troubling him. My brother, I thought it was a joke. When this loan was taken initially, there was no agreement or anything of such.

“I never knew he made a repayment agreement for 35 years while he told me that after they have purchased the property, it would be within a month. Since 2017, they have refused to pay, I’ve been chasing them all over the place. I took a lawyer that wrote them until he got tired and they refused to reply. They just received the letters and acted as if nothing happened. When I couldn’t pay the lawyer anymore, I rested. In 2017-18, I couldn’t cope with it, I tried contacting his younger brother, Tobi Adegboyega, who is the main pastor of their dad’s church here and he gave me money for two months £1,200, and promised to meet with the bank to clear the debt.”

Racheal said to her surprise, that Tobi, like his elder brother, blocked her phone numbers after four months.

“Thereafter, he (Tobi) refused to pay and answer my calls; it was a struggle to get him to pay for the third month. By the fourth month, he literally blocked me completely, I couldn’t reach him. I went to the father who is aware of everything. The father’s name is Prophet Samson Adegboyega of SPAC Nation, Ibadan. He kept me posted for forever, he eventually asked me to write a soft appeal letter to Tobi Adegboyega so that he could see what he could use to assist me.

“I wrote as soft as I could and sent to the father to send to him. Whenever I call the father, it’s either he is sleeping or in a meeting for the past five years now. I’m just appealing to the general public to please ask Adedapo Adegboyega of SPAC Nation to pay back Halifax’s loan of £198,000 he fraudulently took with my name.”

Asked why she did not go to the police, she replied, “I actually went to the police over here in the UK but they told me a lawyer knows what to do. But I couldn’t afford to pay a lawyer anymore, so I rested.”

Provide Details Of How N10bn COVID-19 Fund Was Spent, Court Orders Lagos Govt

Federal High Court, Lagos, has issued an order compelling Lagos State governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and the Lagos State government to make known to the public how the N10 billion was released to it by the federal government as COVID-19 fund was expended.

The order, which is issued by the presiding judge, Justice Tijjani Ringim, was consequent upon an ex parte motion filed by Olukoya Ogungbeje, an Executive Director of Coalition for Good Governance in Nigeria.

The motion was, however, argued by and moved by Michael Ogunjobi.

Ogungbeje had in a July 17, 2020 letter as acknowledged by the respondents on July 21, 2020, requested the information.

The court ruled that the refusal of the governor and the Lagos State government to furnish the applicant with the information was a flagrant violation of the provisions of the Freedom of Information Act 2011.

The judge however ordered Ogungbeje to file a written undertaking for the cost in the event that the orders ought not to have been granted.

Ogungbeje stated that on July 13, 2020, doctors in Lagos embarked on a warning strike action based on issues ranging from non-payment of allowances, welfare packages, and other sundry issues in connection with services rendered in relation to the COVID-19 incidence.

He said residents in Lagos, including himself, found it difficult to access the government-owned hospitals.

He also stated that palliatives distributed by the respondents to residents were grossly insufficient and inadequate to justify the huge intervention funds.

Meanwhile, a study carried out by the Human and Environmental Development Agenda (HEDA) Resource Centre has revealed that more than 50% of Lagosians were unaware of the budgetary provision in the state.

Speaking in Lagos at a public presentation of the organization’s report on leadership approval rating, Chairman of HEDA, Olanrewaju Suraju, said about 40% of Lagosians believed that the state government needed to make tremendous improvements in critical sectors such as education, infrastructure, health, and security, stressing that only 5% of respondents expressed satisfaction with the overall performance of the government.

Olanrewaju added that the survey which was conducted between January 19 and 21 sought to shine a spotlight on different sectors of government with a view to gaining insight into peoples’ perception of the government as well as measuring peoples’ expectations of government.

He called on the Lagos State government to cultivate a more flexible and participatory process in managing and administering the affairs of the state.

JAMB Cautions Tertiary Institutions Against Change Of Courses For Candidates

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board on Monday said the transfer of candidates from one programme to another in any tertiary institution can only be effected with the consent of the candidates concerned.

The JAMB Registrar, Prof Is-haq Oloyede, made this known in the bulletin he made available in Abuja.

Oloyede stated that the warning was in line with the Board’s policy which disallows tempering the preferences for particular programmes or courses as expressed by candidates unless he/she indicated otherwise.

The bulletin read, “The comments of the Registrar were to clarify the call by some institutions that JAMB allow them to transfer candidates from one programme to another within the institution’s CAPS at no extra charges to the students.

“It was also to clarify the notion that it is difficult to transfer candidates from one programme to another and that not all the candidates transferred on the change of Programme platform would appear on CAPS. Elaborating on the workings of the Central Admissions Processing System, the Registrar said the transfer process is automated on CAPS and can only be effected with the consent or acceptance of the candidate.

“He said this prevents the unconscionable transfer of qualified candidates from a particular course so as to create spaces for unqualified ones. However, with this safeguard, proposed candidates for transfer would not appear on new programmes until the transfer is accepted by the candidates concerned.

“He disclosed further that waiving the need for obtaining the consent or acceptance of candidates concerned would be a violation of the extant rules and regulations of the Board and could also lead to litigation and duplication of admissions.

“Taking the COHEADS through the process, Prof. Oloyede said before a candidate could be moved or transferred to another programme, there would be a Transfer Alert (notification from CAPS) to the candidate to either ACCEPT or REJECT the movement.

“If such a candidate presses YES, the candidate would be moved to the new programme and MUST be admitted. Furthermore, at the point of acceptance, the candidate would be notified to change his/her programme so as to be able to print his/her Letter of Admission.

“However, if the candidate presses NO or is silent (no response), the candidate remains in his/her chosen programme and cannot be moved anywhere. Prof. Oloyede stated that the policy is in line with the Board’s policy which
disallows tempering with the preferences for particular programmes or courses as expressed by candidates unless he/she indicated otherwise.”

2023: PDP Replies Umahi, Says Ebonyi Is PDP State
Governor Dave Umahi

The leadership of the main opposition party, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Ebonyi State chapter has urged the Presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu not to be deceived by Governor David Umahi’s assurance on getting bulk votes from Ebonyi in the 2023 general election.

The PDP made this known in a statement signed by its Publicity Secretary, Mr Chika Nwoba in Abakaliki, insisting that Ebonyi State remained a stronghold of the PDP in the country.

The Party was responding to a statement credited to the State Governor, Chief David Umahi, wherein he called on the citizens of the State not to vote for Labour Party, LP, and the PDP in the forthcoming general election. العاب تجني منها المال

Umahi, who swore in five commissioners, Head of Service, HOS, and some coordinators of development centers, at the new Government House, Centenary City, Abakaliki, had tasked stakeholders not to support mushroom political Parties, especially LP wherein Mr. 1xbet Peter Obi emerged a Presidential candidate. bwin sport

According to Nwoba: “The attention of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Ebonyi State has been drawn to a statement credited to the Governor, Engr David Umahi wherein he said that Ebonyi people wouldn’t vote for the PDP presidential candidate ahead of the 2023 general elections, Atiku Abubakar, but would vote for the APC’s Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“It should be known to the general public that David Umahi is not the spokesperson of the generality of the people of Ebonyi State and as such, doesn’t have the locus stand to say whom and whom, not Ebonyi citizens are going to vote for.

“As a political party, we wish to charge Mr. Umahi to put his house, APC, in Ebonyi State in order, so that the party can have a gubernatorial candidate ahead of the 2023 general elections.

“A man whose house is on fire doesn’t run after rodents. Ebonyi citizens of voting age are very wise and know where to lay their hands in the time of rain. Without mincing words, Ebonyi is a PDP State and this status will be upheld beyond 2023.”

Nwoba further urged Nigerians to discard Umahi’s assurances of giving bulk votes to Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu, adding that the governor is speaking with the mind of failing the presidential primary election.

“We wish to inform Nigerians to discard that statement from Umahi, as he spoke in the emotion of a politician who failed woefully in the just concluded presidential primary election of the APC.

“We urge Bola Ahmed Tinubu not to reckon on the assurances of the defeated political general, whose booths are a modicum of manure in the soil of the Eagles Square,” the Party said.

Nigeria’s Economy Ruined Under President Buhari - Dino Melaye

Dino Melaye, a former Senator representing Kogi West has stated that Nigeria’s economy had been ruined under the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.

According to him, Nigeria has been turned into an unenviable poverty capital of the world.

This was contained in a statement that was personally signed and released by Dino Melaye.

According to Melaye, over 82.9 million once-thriving Nigerians could no longer afford their daily meals and other necessities of life.

Melaye also faulted the president’s Democracy Day Speech.

“From the speech, it is even glaring that the dividends of democracy are yet to be felt by Nigerians under this administration. From the speech, I sincerely expected Mr. President to succinctly enumerate the dividends the citizens had gained under his administration. But unfortunately, the speech was full of promises to get things right. Mr. President, after how many years in the office? Are you not tired of these promises? Well, be informed that Nigerians are tired and fed up with your promises.

“For the avoidance of doubt and for the umpteenth time Mr. President, the dividends of democracy Nigerians are yet to reap and are clamouring for under your administration including but not limited to good governance, rule of law, respect for human rights, and social justice, fight against corruption, economic empowerment and a better standard of living. But is disheartening that this administration has failed on all fronts more specifically on these three- insecurity, corruption, and economy you promised to tackle in 2015.”

The former lawmaker said Buhari has failed Nigerians as the countrymen now live with perpetual fear.

“People killed or kidnapped on daily basis and having their carcasses littered on the street. We can no longer travel to any part of this country with the hope of arriving safely.

“As I stated sometime last week, the corruption scandals oozing out of his government have never been witnessed before in the history of Nigeria. Transparency International revealed that Nigeria is more corrupt today than it was in 2015. The United States’ 2020 Country Reports on Human Rights Practices released by the US Department of State has described the scale of corruption in Nigeria under President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration as massive, widespread, and pervasive.

“My fellow Nigerian, as we celebrate our democracy day today, let it be our resolution not to continue this way. Let it be a wake-up call. We cannot afford to get it wrong come 2023. We must vote this government out and remind them that supreme power is vested in the people. The year 2023 will be a year we decide whether to continue wallowing in the valley of the shadow of death by allowing APC to continue or we want to be taken to the promised land by a Nigerian who can unify this country and transform the economy.

“I, therefore, encourage Nigerians to get their Permeant Voters Card, make sure we vote come 2023, protect our votes and save this country from these economic cankerworms and scavengers and have the economic transformation we all longed for,” he said.

Ekiti 2022: Reject Vote-Buying And Inducement, Lawyer Appeals To Voters

Morakinyo Ogele, an Ondo-based legal practitioner has admonished electorates to shun the act of selling their votes to politicians on the election day.

This is coming ahead of Saturday’s governorship election in Ekiti State.

According to Ogele, the ruling All Progressives Congress was planning to involve in the act of vote buying and called on the people of the state to reject the act.

He said the APC had failed the people of the state in the last four years and don’t deserve to remain in power.

The lawyer made the allegation in an open letter to the Ekiti people. The letter was made available to our correspondent in Akure, the Ondo State capital on Monday. It was titled ‘ Letter to Ekiti People’.

According to him, the present administration had allegedly grounded the state. He asked the people to vote the ruling party out on Saturday.

The letter read, “We must observe carefully to see What is on the ground presently in Ekiti State on how the present government has grounded our dear state. It is no defamatory statement that the APC non-functional government in Ekiti State is an accidental discharge that produced the government in the state.

“The state has become a dynasty of emirate where APC is handling to its stooges a baton in a relay race over to whosoever they believe that can dance to the rhyme of their music. The APC organized a charade and dubious gubernatorial congress and selected a candidate appointed by the former governor, signed sealed, and delivered to Fayemi.

“The government has monetized politics in Ekiti Which is now cash and carry affairs hence, they could not make the financial obligation for the provision of infrastructure as the party is on daily basis going down due to their confused management of Ekiti affairs.

“My investigation so far revealed that APC is coming with a strike force and money, forcing and buying votes. People are wondering how the APC candidate for the June election source for N50million paid to their party headquarters in Abuja, a man whose salary is not up to N500,000 monthly as former secretary to Ekiti State government.

“The years of APC government has been years of the locust and termites, state workers are suffering, retires are dying for non-payment of their pension, still the government is ready to buy votes on June 18, 2022, election.”

He urged people to go out and vote for the candidate of the Social Democratic Party in the election, saying “We are tired of dynasty government in Ekiti State.”
