APC, PDP In Trouble Of Social Media Influencers Stage Upset Against Parties

Ahead of the 2023 general elections, some Nigerians have started a social media movement to reject the two leading political parties in the country, the All Progressives Congress, APC, and the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

This is not unconnected to the emergence of octogenarians as PDP and APC presidential candidates – Bola Tinubu and Atiku Abubakar.

Taking to their various social media handles, Nigerians are saying it’s time for the youths, competent, and healthy leaders to emerge in the country.

With the emergence of Tinubu and Atiku as presidential candidates of the two leading political parties, maverick songwriter and social activist, Charles Oputa popularly known as Charly Boy, vowed to relocate to Ghana if either of them became president in 2023.

He accused Tinubu and Atiku of lacking the integrity to rule Nigeria.

Tweeting while displaying photographs of both presidential candidates, Charly Boy wrote: “They can be as ATIKU~LATED as they want. But we trust INTEGRITY not words.

“NIGERIANS have been through Enough TRIBULATIONS, no more TINUBU~LATION.

“If any of these two wins, I go just leave una waka go Ghana, go beg dem for citizenship. Buhari will look like a saint.”

On her part, co-convener of BringBackOurGirls, BBOG, and advocacy group, Aisha Yesufu, rejected Tinubu and Atiku’s option ahead of the 2023 presidential election.

Yesufu urged Nigerians to vote against them because they are not an option.

She commended Nigerians for their renewed drive to vote against APC and PDP in 2023.

“#TINUTIKU are not my options, and the more mistakes they make, the better for them not to be voted! The one that is an option is the one I will scrutinise the more so he doesn’t drop the ball!
You get it?

“#APCPDP decided to be unfortunate, and Nigerians are taking matters into their hands! I love it!,” She tweeted.

Recently, social media influencer and skit maker, Mr Macaroni asked Nigerians to get their Permanent Voters Card, PVCs, ahead of the 2023 election.

He had tweeted: “Everyday, we find ourselves dealing with one form of insecurity or the other.. Killings, kidnapping and attacks on Nigerians across different parts of the country.

“Our leaders have failed us!! We must be part of the movement to usher in a new dispensation!!! Get Your PVC!!!”

Despite the renewed social media drive, Deji Adeyanju, a socio-political commentator believes that online voting does not amount to actual physical votes.

Speaking with DAILY POST (not ABN TV), Adeyanju said the PDP and the APC do not take the online clamour for votes seriously.

He explained that most of those clamouring for votes online do not have their Permanent Voters’ Cards, PVCs.

Adeyanju noted that contrary to the clamour online, both the PDP and the APC know that what is on ground is different from what is obtainable online.

According to Adeyanju: “I think APC and PDP are not taking the move seriously because they know that elections are not won on social media and the majority of those clamouring don’t have their PVCs; they know that elections are not won in the urban areas.

“If you look at the composition of electoral votes in the country or should I say electoral college, social media is not one of those places where elections take place in Nigeria. They know that this abdication and noise online have little or no impact on elections, it’s just for public perfection, and that is why you can see that both parties don’t care. There are no polling units on social media.”

The Abuja-based rights activist stressed that those clamouring for votes online do not participate in the actual voting.

He said: “If you look at it, people online don’t really vote because they are not patient enough to stay on the queue to go through the rigour of accreditations, they are not patient enough to go through the rigour of voting and staying behind to count the votes; so that is the challenge and why the majority of the political actors don’t see the online noise as anything.”

On his part, the former Acting National Chairman of APC, Hillard Eta, said the party has nothing to fear.

He told DAILY POST (not ABN TV) that most of those agitating online would vote for Tinubu in 2023, stressing that such is not a new thing.

“Let’s assure you that the APC has come to stay, and we will have an Asiwaju presidency. The agitation is not new, because it has always been with us.

“Go and check, the impact of social media on Nigeria’s political process is less than 10 percent. Go to the North that has the bulk of voters in this country and find out if they are on social media?

“So, there is nothing new and APC has nothing to fear. Half of those making noise will cast their votes for APC,” he said.

Buhari Vows To Deal With Those Profiting From Insecurity

President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday said those taking laws into their hands, bearing arms illegally and seeking to profit from a climate of fear and insecurity would be decisively dealt with.

He spoke in Wudil, Kano, at the Passing-Out-Parade of the Cadets of the fourth Regular Course of the Nigeria Police Academy.

He said his administration would continue to demonstrate zero tolerance for crime and criminality, charging the police to rise to the occasion.

He stressed the need to develop a policy on cyber warfare with strategic focus on the prevention of cyber-attacks against critical national infrastructure, minimising national vulnerability to cyber-attacks and minimising damage and recovery time from cyber-attacks.

He said: “Today’s landscape extends well beyond the land, sea, and air, into the vast territories of cyberspace. The internet and new digital technologies have provided a platform for the emerging offences to reach unprecedented levels.

“Many of the enemies you’ll confront will be permanently faceless or concealed, leveraging technology to wage warfare that has the potential to be even more destructive than anything the world has ever known.

“The Boko Haram insurgency, the Independent People of Biafra, the Eastern Security Network and banditry in some parts of the country over time, which posed a potent threat to the country, have been significantly degraded and relative normalcy has returned to most towns and villages and more efforts are in place to ensure that normalcy returns all the areas suffering banditry.

“Across the North Central and North West of the country, we’ve made progress with regards to stemming the tide of communal violence, farmers-herdsmen clashes, cattle rustling and kidnapping,” he said.

The Commandant of the Academy, AIG AbdurRahman Ahmad, said the institution had boosted the Nigeria Police Force and the security workforce of the nation with 1,748 officers in addition to the 205 that just passed out via presidential commissioning.

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and former Aviation Minister, Osita Chidoka has noted that the South-East should continue to liaise with other parts of the country to improve the region’s chances of getting the presidential seat.

The former Minister said this on Channels Television’s Politics Today monitored by ABN TV, on Thursday, amid claims that the region had been sidelined by the PDP, ahead of the 2023 elections.

He said that collaboration with other regions will be key to having a President from the South-East.

“What I think the South-East is going to be doing is recalibrate our presence in the PDP and continue our strong push for a president from the South-East.

“So, I think we have four to eight years between us and the presidency. We need a strong candidate.

“We need to continue building on what we have gained already. We need to build ourselves up to be able to present that candidate that would tell the country ‘It is our turn’.

“And that our turn will be fought on the grounds of the Eagle Square, on the grounds of wherever the primary is,” Chidoka added.

“We hope that that candidate will be able to elicit votes from other parts of the country because South-East votes are not going to make us president.

“No matter how many South-East votes we get for ourselves, we need to convince the rest of the country to support our aspirations,” he added.

Bianca Ojukwu Speaks On Peter Obi's Alleged 'Stinginess', Recalls Her Encounter With Him In Texas
Bianca Ojukwu

Bianca, wife of late Biafra warlord, Ikemba Odumegwu Chukwuemeka Ujukwu, has responded to Rev. Father Ejike Mbaka’s comment on presidential aspirant, Peter Obi.

Recall that Mbaka had during his ministry’s gathering in Enugu State, said Peter Obi can’t be Nigeria’s president because he is a stingy person.

He declared that unless God ceases to exist, Obi would never smell the seat of the president.

Bianca, recounting her experience with Obi, disclosed how the former Anambra Governor refused to buy a $3,985 suit and went for a $220 suit in 2009 just to donate money to help the needy.

According to her, if Obi’s value is defined as ‘stinginess’ then Nigeria needs to adopt such a mould for a sustainable environment.

Her post on Facebook read: “NO APOLOGIES, PLEASE. On Peter Obi’s supposed ‘Stinginess’….

“In Life, You either live by your creed or you desecrate the mould by which the Almighty created you. Any progressive nation measures an individual by his values, not his vaults.

“If this way of life is what is derided as ‘stinginess’ on the part of Peter Obi, then we all need to adopt this mould for a more sustainable and more humane environment.

“Sometime in 2009, ‘Mr’(as he preferred to be addressed) Peter Obi, Governor Of Anambra State at the time, visited Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu and myself at Dallas, Texas. He came to deliver a get well message from Dr Goodluck Jonathan and was billed to attend a black tie event at the Dallas Marriott.

“Curiously, Obi flew into Dallas airport with one small carry-on luggage which he insisted on wheeling around himself, and on getting to our residence requested to freshen up. What will you be wearing to the event tonight?’, we inquired. It was at that point that it struck him that he could not show up in his casuals at such a ceremony.

“I insisted on taking him to the luxury men’s emporium at Neiman Marcus to buy a smart black suit. When we got there, he was busy doing the Dollar to Naira currency conversions. The suit that was a perfect match for him was a dapper Tom Ford suit with a price tag of 3,985 dollars plus tax.

“To cut the story short, Obi refused to pay what he termed ’that outrageous price’ for the Tom Ford suit and that was how we ended up at Steinmart where he agreed to pay a more acceptable price of 220 dollars, tax inclusive, for a basic men’s suit which he was happy to wear to that evening’s event.”

However , Obi later gave her dollars meant for the suit to be used for her charity foundation.

Meanwhile, Obi has said he has no plan to reply to the Catholic priest.

IPOB Unmasks Identity Of Alleged Kidnappers In South East

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has released the names of alleged kidnappers in the South East.

This was contained in a statement signed by IPOB’s spokesman, Emma Powerful.

The secessionist group dissociated itself from the criminals, saying it had never been part of or behind the ongoing insecurity and criminalities in the region.

Powerful also made it clear that the group is working towards exposing those behind the ongoing criminalities in Anambra, Enugu, and Imo states.

“In Abia State particularly, a certain Nkechi Kalu and her gang of about eight kidnap members operating between Abia State and Igweocha, Rivers State are not IPOB members, they and their activities should not be associated with ‘IPOB family’ membership.

“In Enugu State, a certain group of criminal elements turned themselves into enemies of the people, the names of their gang leaders are as follows; Chocho and Mazi Ejiofor; [they] are not IPOB members and anybody associating with them is a confirmed criminal,” the statement read in part.

He added that “the above-named persons who were formerly IPOB members were expelled as a result of indiscipline and insubordination which is not tolerated by IPOB leadership.”

Catholic Church Reacts, Disowns Mbaka Over 'Stingy Man' Comment On Peter Obi

The Catholic Diocese of Enugu has condemned and dissociated itself from inflammatory political utterances by Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka, the Director of Catholic Adoration Ministry Chaplaincy Enugu.

Recall that Mbaka had on Wednesday described Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi as a ‘stingy man’, declaring that unless God ceases to exist, Obi would never smell the seat of the president. استراتيجية بينجو

According to him, it was better to have an old man as president than a ‘stingy young man. كازنو

Reacting, the Bishop of Enugu, Rev Ernest Obodo, in a statement on Thursday, said Mbaka’s inflammatory political utterances were divisive and they contravene the canon 220 of the 1983 Code of Canon Law which prohibits anyone from illegitimately harming the good name of a person.

He further stated that Mbaka’s views on the matter are entirely personal to him and do not represent the position of the Catholic Diocese of Enugu. موقع حقيقي لربح المال

The Bishop, therefore, warned Mbaka to refrain from making further provocative prophecies or utterances capable of heating up the polity.

”We assure the people of God and the general public that the Catholic Diocese of Enugu is taking the due canonical process.

”Finally, we urge all the People of God to continue to pray for peaceful elections and to discharge their civic responsibilities by getting their Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC) and casting their votes in order to elect the right candidates. May Our Lady, Queen of Nigeria, intercede for us,” he added.
