OUK Movement a political support group of Chief Whip of the Senate, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has congratulated their principal and founder on the award of Best Senator on Constituency Projects and Human Relationship which was recently bestowed on him.

The group in a felicitation message said the award is well deserved because of the antecedents of Sen. Kalu a former governor of Abia State in projects attraction and execution within his short stay in the Senate.

Barr Sam Ogbonna (JP), the Abia State Publicity Secretary, OUK Movement in the congratulatory said the organisers of the award ceremony were spot on with their decision to honour Sen. Kalu representing Abia North for his massive constituency interventions.

He said, “Recently, a water project you attracted and executed in Abia Central (Isiala Ngwa)went viral. You have also constructed road in Ngwaland,outside your jurisdiction. It now remains Abia South which would be part of your second term agenda.This is a feat no Senator presently or in the past has ever achieved.

Presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi has expressed support for ex-Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu amid controversy of alleged organ harvesting.

Obi prayed for the healing of Ekweremadu’s daughter.

Ekweremadu and his wife, Beatrice were arrested at Heathrow airport, London and arraigned in court for allegedly plotting to harvest the kidney of a Nigerian minor.

But, the duo pleaded not guilty to the charges at the Uxbridge Magistrates’ Court.

Magistrate Lois Sheard remanded both defendants in custody ahead of their hearing on July 7th.

However, the Nigerian lawmaker denied the allegations of organ harvesting, while sharing a letter to the UK High Commission in Nigeria, requesting a visa for the alleged minor.

Obi via his Twitter page prayed for the family and sought God’s hand for justice in the case.

His tweet read: “My family and I are with the Ekweremadus over their travail.

“We join all men of goodwill in praying for the healing of their daughter and commit them into God’s hand for justice to be done.”

Rivers ADC Governorship Candidate Nominates Tonto Dikeh As Running Mate

The Rivers State African Democratic Congress governorship candidate, Tonto Ibraye, has nominated popular actress, Tonto Dikeh, as his running mate.

The actress announced her nomination on Instagram on Friday, while sharing their government’s plans if elected into office during next year’s election.

When elected, she said the administration would invest massively in social protection and create social value for the youths.

She wrote, “I thank Mr. Tonte Ibraye, the Governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress Rivers State for nominating me as his running mate.”

Dikeh listed their manifesto to include, “investing massively in social protection, creating a social value system for young people, increased women inclusion in our governance system.”

Others are “supporting small businesses and strengthening our traditional institutions to be active players in the drive to bring sustainable development to the good people of Rivers State.”

Dikeh, however, urged people of the state, particularly the youth to register and get their Permanent Voter Card to ensure they vote during the election.

The actress hails from Rivers State.

Leaders of the South-South Zone of the All Progressives Congress have thrown their weight behind the presidential flagbearer of the party, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, ahead of the 2023 general election.

While addressing journalists in Abuja, National Chairman of the APC South-South Zone, Victor Giadom, disclosed that they have asked all members of the party from the six states in the geopolitical zone to help Tinubu achieve his presidential ambition next year.

Giadom made the statement after hours of closed-door meeting with a delegation of the South-South leaders, including former Governor of Edo State, Adams Oshiomhole; former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi; former National Chairman of the APC, John Odigie-Oyegun; Senate Deputy President, Ovie Omo-Agege, and former Deputy Governor of Edo State, Lucky Imasuen.

According to him, the APC is determined and will do whatever it takes to ensure that Tinubu successfully takes over the governance of the country from the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), after the 2023 general election.

He said, “We congratulate Asiwaju Bola Tinubu for emerging as the presidential candidate of our party and thank him for the steps he has so far taken to unite those who contested that election with him and to assure him that the South-South zone will support his ticket.

“The South-South Zone in that direction has resolved to work with him and the party to ensure victory in the 2023 general election.”

While pledging to work harder to restore the party dominance in the six states of the region by 2023, the leaders of the APC South-South applauded Amaechi for his political maturity and show of sportsmanship after losing the presidential ticket to Tinubu.

“We appreciate Hon. Rotimi Amaechi, our own son and former Minister of Transportation, who came second in the presidential contest, for the party unity he has demonstrated after the presidential primary.

“We, therefore, urge all party members in the South-South zone to embrace the presidential ticket of our party to ensure victory in 2023,” Giadom stated.

He also saluted the president and the APC northern governors for their commitment to the unity of the country and for allowing a level playing field for all the aspirants.

“We congratulate them too for the patriotism for which they demonstrated in ceding the presidential ticket of the APC to the Southern part of the country,” he said.

CAF Unveils Official Match Ball For 2022 WAFCON

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has unveiled the official match ball for this year’s women’s Cup of Nations in Morocco.

CAF unveiled the match ball on their website on Friday.

A statement from the football body read: ”CAF and technical sponsor, Umbro today unveiled the official match ball for Africa’s flagship women’s football competition.

“African women’s football has shown a bright, colourful new face to the world as its stars command the world stage, and the official ball of the 2022 TotalEnergies Women’s Africa Cup of Nations is inspired by the new visual identity of African women’s football.

“The WAFCON being held in Morocco from 2 – 23 July 2022 promises to be an energetic wave of energy and excitement as Africa’s elite women’s footballers battle it out for the title of queens of African football.

“And the tournament’s match ball’s strong identity is made of colours filled with symbols related to football.

“It represents the values of unity, progress, challenge, initiative, diversity and experience that has characterised the growth of African women’s football to reach the lofty heights it occupies today,” CAF said.

The 2022 WAFCON will serve as the qualifiers for next year’s women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.

The Super Falcons of Nigeria are the reigning champions following their achievement in 2018.

Randy Waldrum’s team is in Group C with South Africa, Botswana and Burundi.

They will kickoff the defence of their title against South Africa on July 4th in Rabat.

Rangers are expecting bids from Premier League clubs for Joe Aribo this summer, reports says.

Aribo has expressed his desire to remain at the Ibrox this summer despite persistent rumours liinking him with a move away from the club.

The Nigerian is in the final year of his contract at Ibrox.

It is understood that there is no sign of the Nigerian signing a new deal and the Gers are willing to cash in now instead of allowing him leave on a free next summer.

According to the Scottish Daily Mail, Rangers are looking to make sizeable profit on the player they paid £300,000 to sign from Charton Athletic in 2019.

The 25-year-old is reportedly on the radar of Crystal Palace, Nottingham Forest and Fulham.

His international teammate, Calvin Bassey is also a subject of interest from Premier League clubs.

Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich are interested in Cristiano Ronaldo as a replacement for Robert Lewandowski who continues to push for a move to Barcelona.

Ronaldo is said to be frustrated with his current club’s lack of progress in the transfer market and should it continue, he could consider his immediate future at Old Trafford.

New manager Erik ten Hag is yet to make a signing since replacing Ralf Rangnick and there is now concern about whether United are equipped to compete with the likes of Premier League champions Manchester City and Liverpool next season.

Ronaldo wants to play Champions League football but is prepared to stay loyal to United, providing they show ambition in the transfer window but there are no encouraging signs.

To date, there has been little progress in the pursuit of new recruits and now Bayern are seemingly monitoring Ronaldo’s situation.

And according to Spanish newspaper AS, Bayern are eyeing the Portugal international as a potential replacement for Lewandowski.

The Poland international is continuing to angle for a move after eight seasons at Bayern but the club are not keen on the idea of letting him go.

Barcelona have now lodged their opening offer for the 33-year-old, worth in the region of £35million.

Bayern sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic is still optimistic the Polish star will stay put though following talks with the striker in Mallorca.

“Lewandowski staying? Until now it’s 100 per cent. July 12 is his first day at work, so I’m awaiting him,” he told Sky Germany.

“Meeting in Mallorca with Robert was very good. Each side explained their position, good one.”

Brazil legend Rivaldo has called on Man United to sign Ajax star, Antony this summer.

The right-sided attacker is being linked to the Red Devils, having worked with their new boss Erik ten Hag at Ajax recently.

While Ajax are not eager to sell Antony, a big enough offer may convince them to sell.

For his part, World Cup winner Rivaldo thinks it would be a great move.

Speaking to Betfair, he said: “Antony can do wonders at Manchester United and the World Cup (with Brazil).

WAFCON 2022: We Can Beat Super Falcons – Burundi Coach, Niyonkuru

Burundi’s head coach Gustave Niyonkuru has said his team is prepared to prove a point at the 2022 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations in Morocco next month.

While sharing his final squad on Thursday morning, Niyonkuru made it clear they have worked on several aspects and should be able to five a good account when the tournament takes place July 2-23rd.

The Burundi team is placed in Group C alongside Botswana, South Africa and record winners Nigeria.

He made it clear that playing in the regional CECAFA Senior Championship 2022 where they finished second to hosts Uganda was a good wake-up call. “The CECAFA tournament exposed us in some departments and now we are working hard to improve to have a well balanced team,” added the coach.

“We know some of the teams we are going to face have a lot of experience, but we shall approach every game like a final,” added Niyonkuru.

The coach has also included two players who ply their trade in Sweden Salha Nahayo and Cheilla Ineza, together with Switzerland based Guinand Saffira who features for FC Yverdon.

Burundi will open their Group C campaign against Botswana on July 4th at the Stade Moulay Hassan, Rabat. They will battle South Africa in the second match after three days, before facing a tough test against Nigeria on July 10th.
