2023 Presidency: Neither Atiku Nor Tinubu Can Fix Nigeria – Prof Abdullahi

Neither Atiku Abubakar, Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) nor Asiwaju Bola Tinubu of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) can fix Nigeria’s challenges, Convener of the Northern Elders’ Forum (NEF), Prof Ango Abdullahi, has said.

In an interview with Vanguard, Abdullahi said Nigeria will be in chaos if either Tinubu or Atiku emerges president, adding that the duo have nothing to offer the country.

According to him, the presidential candidates of Labour Party, Peter Obi and that of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, are better options.

“No, we still haven’t got the man who we think will fix Nigeria. What we have on (the) ground is not good enough. How can you look at Tinubu and Atiku to say they are the ones who will fix this country?” he queried.

He said Tinubu and Atiku have been around political circles for a long time without commensurate positives to show for it.

“They have been on the ground for the last 25, 30 years, and so on. What have they done? What are we looking for? I was the one who encouraged a technocrat to join this consensus. You probably had seen Mohammed Hayatu-Deen in the group of people going around looking for consensus arrangements in PDP. I was one of those who encouraged him. We haven’t got the materials on the ground, unfortunately.

“Peter Obi, unfortunately, I don’t know him that much. He is a young man; he was the former governor of Anambra State and he is a businessman.

“He (Kwankwaso) is a good, young man. He started his politics with us and he is quite smart. No doubt about it. Of course, he had some of these debts that he acquired or he must have picked in other political formations and so on but clearly, he is one of the bright ones around. No doubt about that.

“I believe we have not had a good array of politicians. With due respect to some of them that one saw contesting, I am not being selfish here by referring to certain people like Prof. Osinbajo. He is a quality material but the political system will not tolerate him,” he said.

The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ebonyi, Mr. Stanley Okoro Emegha, has claimed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has accepted and recognised Governor David Umahi’s as the party’s candidate for Ebonyi South Senatorial zone.

According to him, the electoral body allegedly stepped down Umahi from the shortlisted APC senatorial candidates following a mix up.

He said the restoration of the Governor’s name followed the intervention of the party at the state and national leadership.

The Governor’s name was initially missing from the list of candidates released by INEC last week for the national assembly elections.

Umahi’s younger brother Austin Umahi had initially won the primary election defeating Mrs Ann Agom-Eze to clinch the party’s ticket.

But he allegedly withdrew his candidature after the Governor lost the presidential primary, paving the way for the conduct of a fresh primaries on the eve of the deadline for the conduct of the primaries.

Emegha, who spoke to journalists in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, said the stepping down of the Governor’s name was a minor error from the INEC..

He said: “I went there, it was a minor error from the INEC side and it has been corrected. The governor’s name not appearing wasn’t from the party, and the necessary things were done. The stepping down of the two candidates that contested for that senatorial election was there with the party and INEC.

“INEC was invited for the re-conduction because there was enough time for the party to re-conduct another primary election that will usher in another person.

“And the time was actually met, the re-conduction of the election was done, the video clips are there, all the necessary security agencies and the ministries that were supposed to be there were there on the day of the re-conduction of the senatorial candidate primaries of APC in Ebonyi south.

“And then, a panel was set up at the national secretariat Abuja and they arrived. We took them to Afikpo which is the venue for the election, they did all the necessary things, and the delegates that were supposed to participate in the primaries were all there.

“Mind you, the particular column was blank, so there wasn’t an issue. If you like, they can still forward a list of the states that had issues and the possible substitution they made, because the national office of the party can not afford to leave any particular space vacant.

“Anybody carrying any news is carrying it on their own. But I went to Abuja, I called them and asked them why am I seeing and hearing such stories on social media, they traced it and saw where it was coming from and it was immediately corrected.”

Speaking on the reason for the re-conduction of senatorial primaries of Ebonyi south, Emegha sad Austin Umahi, the winner of the earlier election withdrew to concentrate on his business.

Nigeria Is In Trouble If Tinubu Or Atiku Becomes President In 2023 — Northern Elders Forum

The Convener of the Northern Elders Forum, NEF, Professor Ango Abdullahi, has said Nigeria will be in chaos if either Bola Tinubu of the ruling All Progressives Congress or Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party wins the 2023 presidential election, stating that the duo have nothing to offer the country.

He said the presidential candidates of Labour Party, Mr. Peter Obi, and that of the New Nigeria People’s Party, NNPP, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso are better, compared to Atiku and Tinubu.

He told Vanguard that Tinubu and Atiku had been around political circles for a long time without commensurate positives to show for it. موقع وليام هيل للمراهنات

However, he noted that Vice President Yemi Osinbajo who contested the APC presidential primaries or a former banker, Mohammed Hayatu-Deen, who also aspired for the ticket in the PDP would have made a better President as technocrats.

Hence, Abdullahi, who was a former Vice-Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University, ABU, Zaria, said he would not support any of the candidates.

Abdullahi said he would rather tell Nigerians to brace for the trouble ahead of them should Tinubu or Atiku emerge as the next President.

“No, we still haven’t got the man who we think will fix Nigeria. What we have on (the) ground is not good enough. How can you look at Tinubu and Atiku to say they are the ones who will fix this country?

“They have been on the ground for the last 25, 30 years and so on.

لعبة 21 No doubt about it.

Osinbajo. He is a quality material but the political system will not tolerate him,” he told Vanguard Newspaper.

Abdullah further stated there was nothing bad if Osinbajo contested against his supposed godfather, Bola Tinubu.

He continued: “What has it got to do with what Nigeria wants? Is he a slave to the former governor? I don’t understand this kind of analogy. العاب لربح المال على النت Professor Osinbajo is a human being entirely on his own merit and his accomplishments are entirely his own and people should assess him as such.

“Those who needed his services asked for his services. When he served as the attorney general of Lagos State, he was invited by the political system of Lagos State. This is the way I look at it and when he became vice president, I understand it is the president/party that identified him as qualified and competent enough to be the vice president in the current dispensation.”

“Why shouldn’t he be because he served under XYZ? He should be identified as an individual for leadership in the country,” he added.

While asking Nigerians to prepare for the troubled days ahead should any of the candidates become president in 2023, Abdullahi said:  “What I will tell Nigerians is that we are in trouble and the way out is for Nigerians to agree that Nigeria is in trouble and that the machinery that are on ground today, that are expected to find solutions to the challenges facing Nigeria are not appropriate and we have to go back to the drawing board to see what we can do to save the Nigeria of the future.

“I believe the politicians have failed. My belief is that the political class has over the years failed to produce the kind of quality leadership we require to deal with the problems of Nigeria and which means that we should look for quality materials, not necessarily within the mainstream political parties, from outside and there have been a lot of discussions in Nigeria recently about technocrats.”

Salame who is a former governorship aspirant under the platform of APC withdrew from the race few hours to the primary which saw the emergence of former Deputy Governor Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto said APC as a party lacked democratic tenets and principles.

He noted that APC in Sokoto State had turned into a one-man show where a man plays god not knowing that a tree cannot make a forest.

He further disclosed that all their structures had collapsed into PDP to ensure the party’s victory by a wide margin come 2023.

Others who defected along with Salame are members representing Tangaza/Gudu federal constituency, Yusuf Isa Kurdula, and former Minister of Transportation Alhaji Yusuf Suleiman, who is also an APC former governorship aspirant. Tambuwal stressed that they had seen the light and decided to follow it, saying APC is on life support waiting to die. ”Let me ask you who is the vice-presidential candidate of APC, the answer is what they have they called it placeholder”, he stated.

He maintained that APC was confused, saying before they will conclude the issue of the vice-presidential candidate, 2023 election matters might have been concluded by Nigerians.

He explained that those who defected to the party would be accorded equal rights with old members.

BBNaija Star Pere Reveals Intention To Become A Preacher

Former BBNaija “Shine Ya Eye” housemate Pere Egbi has argued possession of wealth without proper education is ‘senseless.’

Pere, who is also a U.S Army soldier, argued education will always remain the key to lasting success.

He maintained individuals ought never to be contented with a life devoid of proper education or even try to substitute same for financial gains because such wealth will be lacking in substance.

“Education is key. No one should be comfortable without it or substitute money for it. No matter the amount of money you have without going to school, it will never make sense,” Egbi tweeted.

2023 Elections: Over 700,000 PVCs Waiting For Collection In Our Office – Oyo REC, Agboke

PVC: Yobe Govt Declares 3 Work-Free Days For Civil Servants

The Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Oyo State, Barrister Mutiu Agboke has disclosed that over 700,000 Permanent Voter Cards (PVC) are waiting for collection in the commission’s office.

Agboke made this disclosure on Sunday while speaking during a programme organised by Political Awareness Group (PAG) an association of Muslim Professionals and Technocrats in Nigeria.

The Aare Musulumi of Yoruba land, Edo and Delta States, Daud Akinola Makanjuola, was represented by Kazeem Eleta, Director of Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) Professor Isiaq Akintola, APC senatorial candidate in Oyo Central district, Yunus Aknitunde, PAG Chairman, Abdulwaheed Olowonjaye and other personalities.

Agboke while addressing a gathering of stakeholders said no one will win in Oyo State except the people votes such a person in.

The REC while responding to an allegation raised by Akintola that some Muslims were being denied the right to register for PVC in some South Western states due to Hijab and cap, insisted that there is no policy of INEC that prevents anyone from registering for PVC because of Hijab.

He advised residents of the state to use the open window to go and claim their PVCs.

“We have over 700,000 PVCs uncollected in Oyo State, let people come out to collect it.

“We should sensitize people. I can tell you confidently that no one will win in Oyo State except the people vote for you. I will not be the one to conduct the 2023 elections. I am leaving in July. In the next two weeks.

“Muslims should come out and exercise their civic right. We have not announced officially the closure of registration. It currently ends on the 30th but from Nigerian’s yearnings, we might extend it.

“On the issue of Niqob and Hijab, there is no INEC policy that disqualifies anyone from the registration because of Niqob or Hijab.

“But if you are a Muslim woman under this category none of INEC staff would disallow you from registration because it is either your face is taken or your biometrics even though it has implications during the election”.
