I Didn’t Hold Any Meeting With Gov. Wike In France — Tinubu

Presidential Candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has disclaimed reports of a meeting between him and opposition Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike in France ahead of the 2023 general election.

Tinubu had recently flown to France in what his handlers said was a continuation of high-level engagements with stakeholders.

However, a chieftain of the party in Lagos State, Joe Igbokwe had been quoted by a section of the media as confirming a meeting between the duo.

On Friday night, the Tinubu Media Office in a statement signed by Tunde Rahman said although the APC standard bearer holds Gov. Wike in high esteem, such a meeting never took place.

He said; “Asiwaju Tinubu’s supposed meeting with Governor Wike in France is Fake News”.

Part of the statement reads; “We have seen a viral social media post made by one of the chieftains of All Progressives Congress in Lagos State and media reports emanating from same about a supposed meeting in France between APC Presidential Standard-bearer, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and His Excellency, Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State.

“It has become imperative to set the record straight. Although Asiwaju Tinubu is presently in France, he didn’t have any meeting with Governor Wike whether in that country or anywhere whatsoever.

“This, however, does not detract from the fact that the APC presidential candidate holds Governor Wike in high esteem.

And given the national and across-party line’s appeal of Asiwaju Tinubu’s candidature, he will not hesitate to meet any important national leader when desirable.

“As made public earlier, Asiwaju Tinubu is in France for some important engagements. He will return to the country shortly.

“We would like, once again, to advise journalists to always cross-check their information with appropriate officers before rushing to press to avoid unintended errors”, Rahman counselled.

Guber Candidacy, Running Mate Saga Tears Abia PDP Apart As Mass Defection Looms

0

The crisis rocking the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Abia State, seemed to have deepened as more chieftains of the party are planning to dump the party.

They have cited poor leadership in both the party and the state as their reason for dumping the party.

Our correspondent gathered gathered that a National Assembly member of the party will in matter of days announced his new political family.

This is traceable to the choice of governorship candidate of the governor, Okezie Ikpeazu. He was accused of picking a candidate from Abia Central instead of Abia North who is not popular.

A source said, “Most of the leaders are not with the governor right now. Governor Ikpeazu is alone as it is today except some Councillors and Council Chairmen who are not popular in their areas.

“Can you point at any popular leader with the governor outside JOK (John Okiyi Kalu)?

“Can you imagine the governor picking an Umunneochi man as the running mate of an unpopular Ikonne? How can such ticket fly? People are leaving everyday, while others are staying behind to scuttle the chances of the party.”

He added, “More people are planning to leave the party. Even if the governor wanted an Ngwa person to succeed him, he should have gone for Nana Nwafor instead of this old man. Abia PDP is collapsing; even the youths are leaving. Are you seeing anyone defending the governor on facebook outside PUO (Promise Uzoma Okoro)?

“The party is practically dead in Abia North. How many voters are in Umunneochi? Ikpeazu must act now to save the party from collapsing,” he said.

Prominent chieftains of the PDP that dumped the party include the former Minority Leader of the Senate, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe (APGA); Member representing Isialangwa Federal Constituency, Hon. Darlington Nwokocha (LP), Member representing Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency, Hon. Sam Onuigbo (APC); Member representing Obingwa/Osisioma/Ugwunagbo Federal Constituency, Hon. Solomon Adaelu (APGA).

Others are Hon. Ginger Onwusibe, member representing Isialangwa North State Constituency (LP); Prof. Greg Ibe, Pro-Chancellor of Gregory University and now governoship candidate of APGA; Engr. Enyinnaya Nwafor, Dr. Chima Anya, Chief Fred Eke and many others.

The respondents in the suit are; Governor of Kano State; the Attorney General of Kano State; the Commissioner of Finance, Kano; and the Speaker, Kano State House of Assembly.

Peter Obi Only Receiving Support Because He’s Lesser Evil — Okon

Nigerian Actor, Ime bishop, popularly known as Okon Lagos, says the momentum that the Presidential Candidate of Labour Party, Peter Obi, is gaining in the buildup to the 2023 elections is not because he is a saint.

Okon Lagos, via his Instagram page, said Obi is getting “massive love” from Nigerians because he is the “lesser of the evils” before Nigerians.

“Peter Obi doesn’t enjoy massive love and support among Nigerians because he’s a saint or without blemish. He had admitted openly he is not a saint. He is loved because in the race, he is lesser evil and not a saint.”

Captioning under the post, he wrote, “Just in the event that you find fault(s) in PO that you so desperately seek, just remember he isn’t a saint. You aren’t either and Nobody is. Meanwhile, have you obtained your PVC yet ?”

Obi joined the Labour party after he pulled out of the Presidential Primaries of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in May.

He has since emerged as one of the favorites to win the 2023 presidential elections, especially among young people.

2023 Presidency: Your Time Is Not Now, Dino Melaye Tells Peter Obi

The former Senator representing Kogi West, Dino Melaye, has given reasons on why he believes the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate Peter Obi cannot win the 2023 presidential election.

He stated that Obi’s agenda to cut cost of governance as he has listened to in Obi’s campaigns is not as important as unifying the country’s ethnic groups.

In the video shared on his verified social media platforms and seen by ABN TV, Dino advised Obi to wait for his time.

He said: “Peter Obi is one of the finest Nigerians who is intellectually mobile, and administratively sagacious, a great Nigerian and has a great potential of being Nigeria’s president in the nearest future.

“I celebrate you Peter Obi, and I celebrate your movement. I celebrate your conscientisation of the Nigerian youth and the public on governance.

“But I want to advise, your time is not now because you’ve to wait for your time. I’ve listened to your postulations. I’ve listened to your arguments, deliveries and campaigns, and 90% of your campaign is dwelling on reducing the cost of governance.

“The problem of this country is beyond just cutting the cost of governance… You don’t need to become governance before you can cut the cost of governance. If you’ve a very effective Minister of Finance, budget and planning, CBN governor and chairman of the Economic team, you can cut governance with the operation of the president.

“What we need today in Nigeria is to unify this country. The country is so much divided.. There’s no trust between the North and the South.”

The Court of Appeal sitting in Lagos, Friday,  convicted and sentenced Senator Peter Nwaoboshi, senator representing Delta North senatorial district at the National Assembly, to seven years imprisonment and ordered that his two companies, Golden Touch Construction Project Ltd and Summing Electrical Ltd, be wound up in line with the provisions of Section 22 of the Money Laundering Prohibition Act 2021.

The court’s ruling followed the success of the appeal by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, which had challenged the judgment of Justice Chukwujekwu Aneke of a Federal High Court, Lagos,  which on June 18, 2021, discharged and acquitted the defendants of a two-count charge of fraud and money laundering.

EFCC had arraigned the three defendants over the acquisition of a property named Guinea House, Marine Road, in Apapa, Lagos, for N805 million.

It argued that part of the money paid to the vendor, precisely a sum of N322 million transferred by Suiming Electrical Ltd on behalf of Nwaoboshi and Golden Touch Construction Project Ltd, was alleged to be part of the proceeds of fraud.

The lower court in it’s judgment, held that the prosecution failed to call vital witnesses and tender concrete evidence to prove the elements of the offences for which it charged the defendants.

The lower court also said the evidence of PW2 “proved that the third defendant obtained a loan of N1.2 billion from Zenith Bank for purchase of additional equipment and as provision of working capital.

“It also proved that the loan of N1.2 billion together with interest of N24 million was properly granted to the third and nothing else was proved by the complainant or prosecutor in this case,” the judge said.

The Court said that a fatal blow was dealt to the case of the prosecution by its failure to call officials of Sterling Bank “to testify and probably tender exhibits F and F10.”

The lower court consequently discharged and acquitted the defendants.

However, disastisfied the judgement, the EFCC appealed to the  Court of Appeal, contending that the trial judge erred in law in dismissing the charges against the respondents.

Meanwhile, in its judgment,  the Court of Appeal held that the prosecution had proved the ingredients of the offence and consequently found the defendants guilty as charged, and upturned the decision of the lower court.

PDP Mocks Uzodinma Over Frequent Visit To Buhari, Alleges Imo Under Grip Of Bandits

PDP Mocks Uzodinma Over Frequent Visit To Buhari, Alleges Imo Under Grip Of Bandits

The Director of New Media of the Imo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Collins Opuruzor, has mocked Governor Hope Uzodinma over the frequent visits to President Muhammadu Buhari without positive outcomes to halt myriads of challenges bedeviling the state.

The PDP spokesman also recorded that the Imo governor had embarked on several visits to Buhari in less than three years, and claimed that Uzodinma only benefits in Aso rock to pose for photographs with the Nigerian leader.

Mr Opuruzor, who spoke through a statement forwarded to ABN TV on Thursday, also estimated that the time Uzodinma was brought to Imo state on January 15 2020 and now, the Imo helmsman has left the state 116 times, and returned 116 times, squandering 8.3 million from public treasury to hire a private jet for a single trip.

He also alleged that for the 232 times Governor Uzodinma had flown private jets to Abuja, Imo state has possibly lost almost N2 billion, stressing that if such a gargantuan sum could be expensed on flying, the entire cost of the leisurely activities and pleasures of the flesh which the accidental ruler chases after in Abuja is better imagined.

According to the party chieftain, “for an entity like Imo where salaries and pensions have remained unpaid, and where Infrastructural decay has become a source of immense sorrow, this penchant for luxury and unguarded lust for good life in far away Abuja by Uzodinma can never be rationalized.

“What baffles many is that since Uzodinma began his shameless photographic sessions in Aso Rock, there is no single project in Imo which he can claim to have attracted from such vainglorious displays. He skirts around President Buhari possibly for the fun of it and possibly also, to rob it on the faces of his perceived foes that he can have photoshoots with the President whenever he wants.”

Continuing, Opuruzor further regretted, “the pain, however, is that while Uzodinma is lazying around in Abuja, Imo state is burning down to ashes. Just like Emperor Nero who fiddled while Rome burnt, history will record Uzodinma’s fun seeking indulgences in Abuja even when Imo people live in the throes of siege and mass murderers. Today, terrorists, bandits and fundamentalists are expanding their territory in Imo, slaughtering countless innocent citizens, abducting many more, subjecting their captives, including women and children to torture, rape and the most gruesome forms violence and death.

“Since the killings in Imo started, Uzodinma has neither proffered any solution to the ugly situation nor even offered any satisfactory explanation about the causes. He has instead blamed everyone else and everything else for it but himself. If he was duly elected, he would have known that the security of lives and property should be his first-line obligation. But, unfortunately, he wasn’t.

“It is time for President Buhari and his handlers in Aso Rock tell Uzodinma the bitter truth. “Go and solve the problems in your state. Aso Rock is not a photo studio, “the Imo spokesman submitted.
