The Abia State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC faction led by Chief Kingsley Ononogbu, has insisted that High Chief Ikechi Emenike is its Governorship Candidate for the 2023 poll.

It disowned immediate-past Minister of State for Mines and Steel Development Dr Uche Ogah, who is also laying claim to the ticket.

While Emenike emerged through indirect primaries, Ogah got the ticket via direct primaries as directed by National Working Committee NWC of the party.

Supporters of Ogah such as former Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, Stanley Ohajuruka, said Ogah was the APC candidate that there was no time Abia APC conducted any congress to elect ad-hoc delegates to vote at the governorship primaries, that produced Emenike.

However, the Emenike team, which prides itself as the Authentic APC recognised by the NWC in Abia also claims the party hierarchy approved and monitored the indirect primaries that produced Emenike as candidate.

According to them, “High Chief Ikechi Emenike is the Governorship Candidate that will lead Abia APC to victory in the forthcoming 2023 general election. “Equally settled is the issue of Direct and Indirect Primaries.

The National leadership of APC had in a letter dated 26th May, 2022 and addressed to the Chairman of INEC “as a follow-up to our letter reference No. APC/NHDQ/INEC/19/022/61” stated in unambiguous words that Abia was not among the states where direct mode of primary was required. The letter jointly signed by the APC National Chairman, Senator Abdullahi Adamu and the National Secretary, Senator Iyiola Omisore stated that the letter to INEC was meant for the electoral umpire to recognise that the Indirect Primary conducted by Abia APC was ‘in line with our NWC resolution that Abia State was to adopt Indirect mode of primary election.’”

Consequently, they said Ogah and Ohajuruka were operating outside the rules of the APC and could not lay claim to the APC governorship ticket.

Elon Musk Vows To Terminate $44bn Twitter Deal

Billionaire American businessman, Elon Musk, says he is terminating the $44 billion Twitter deal.

The CEO of Tesla and Space X struck a deal to buy the microblogging platform back in April.

In a letter Mike Ringler, a lawyer sent to a Securities and Exchange Commission filing, on Musk’s behalf, the businessman said, “Twitter has not complied with its contractual obligations.”

He claimed that Twitter did not provide Musk with relevant business information he requested.

Musk has previously said he wanted to assess Twitter’s claims that about 5% of its monetisable daily active users (mDAUs) are spam accounts.

“Twitter has failed or refused to provide this information. Sometimes Twitter has ignored Mr. Musk’s requests, sometimes it has rejected them for reasons that appear to be unjustified, and sometimes it has claimed to comply while giving Mr. Musk incomplete or unusable information,” the letter read

Ringler also charged in the letter that Twitter breached the merger agreement because it allegedly contains “materially inaccurate representations.”

The accusation is based on Musk’s own preliminary review of spam accounts on Twitter’s platform.

Twitter has said it’s not possible to calculate spam accounts from solely public information and that a team of experts conducts a review to reach the 5% figure.

“While this analysis remains ongoing, all indications suggest that several of Twitter’s public disclosures regarding its mDAUs are either false or materially misleading,” the letter read.

He also claimed Twitter breached its obligations under the agreement to get Musk’s consent before changing its ordinary course of business, pointing to recent layoffs at the company.

Twitter is yet to comment on the development.

Prophet Odumeje To Pay For Cost Of Demolishing His Church – Gov. Soludo

Anambra State Governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo has said that popular pastor, Chukwuemeka Ohanaemere, who is also known as Odumeje, will pay for the cost of demolishing his church.

Soludo, who spoke on Friday night, said there were several notices sent to all house owners, whose houses were marked for demolition, and that they were all served notices, and asked to remove such structures within a timeframe.

Soludo also said that two parishes of the Catholic church were still waiting for demolition.

“It is costing us money. They had several notices to remove such structures, but they refused.

“The demolition started yesterday (Thursday), and so far so good. The demolition went well, except for Pastor Odumeje, who according to the report drove in, in a brazen manner and attempted to take over the equipment.

“Of course, state work must go on, and security had to stop him. This was a man who was in several meetings we had, and also spoke.

“In fact, this is costing us money, and the structures should have been removed before now, but they chose to test the resolve of the government.

“Once we are done with this exercise, we will compile the bills and send to the persons involved, and they must pay.”

Soludo said two Catholic parishes involved in the demolition of the illegal structures are St. Dominic Catholic Church and Our Lady Queen Catholic church.

He stated that the parish priest of Our Lady Queen Catholic Parish was around when the demolition team visited, and even cooperated, and also granted an interview.

He regretted that Pastor Odumeje took laws into his hands and attempted to stop the exercise.

Hold Peter Obi Responsible If Anything Happens To Me – Reno Omokri

A socio-political commentator, Reno Omokri, has alleged threats to his life for not supporting the Labour Party, LP, presidential candidate, Peter Obi.

Omokri on Friday said that his life and that of his family are at risk for criticising Peter Obi on social media.

Omokri had in previous posts noted that Obi would not become Nigeria’s next President.

He chastised the former Anambra Governor for describing himself as a pilot and other Presidential candidates as “mere drivers” in one of his latest interviews.

According to Omokri, his statement has led to threats from Obi’s followers known as ‘Obidients’

On his Twitter page, he wrote: “The threats are too much. My life is at risk. If anything happens to me, my wife, my children, or siblings, the world should hold Peter Obi responsible.

“He has raised a horde of intolerant and violent Obidients who just want to replace Buhari’s tyranny with theirs!

“Other Nigerians are observing what you people are doing to me. I reiterate what I said. Peter Obi was wrong to describe himself as a pilot and other Presidential candidates as “mere drivers”. The people of Kano heard it. The North heard. Other Nigerians heard it!”

According to the President Muhammadu Buhari has again reassured that his administration would continue to address the current security challenges and costs of living in the country, saying ”I won’t rest until I bring relief to Nigerians.”

Buhari said that “if we are putting the teachings of our religions into practice, most of the evils afflicting our society would have been solved.”

According to the President, religion should not just be used a mere badge of identity, but a motivator for doing good for the country and humanity.

He frowned at the exploitation of the people by traders and the stealing of public funds by civil servants and other holders of public trust, saying these negative vices were reflections of the abandonment of the teachings of our religions.

“Our society is a bundle of contradictions. People display external religiosity without fear of God; they make life difficult for others; money becomes their god; leaders abandon their oaths of office by taking money meant for the welfare of the people and divert it to their private pockets,” he said.

Buhari congratulated the Muslim Ummah in Nigeria and the world on the occasion of the Eid, citing for special mention, “the brave men and women in uniform fighting terror on many fronts and their families, as well as others held hostage and kept away from their families by wicked and heartless terrorists.”

He used the occasion to call on all Muslims to reflect on the significance of the sacrifice epitomised by Eid.

”We should show love and care to our neighbours and others while celebrating this spiritually important event in our lives,” he said.

President Buhari also advised Muslims “to promote the good virtues of Islam through personal examples and practice.

“Muslims should avoid association with violent extremist ideas that have wrongly given Islam a negative image or poor perception.”

The President expressed the hope that this Eid would be a source of blessing, peace, prosperity and safety for all Nigerians, stressing that coexistence and stability would prevail in the country. Sanwo-Olu, Fayemi Others Visit Wike, As Outcome Of Meeting Remains Unknown

A team of South West APC governors led by Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Friday met with Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike.

This comes as both the host and guests could not say anything to pressmen about their closed-door meeting in Port Harcourt on Friday. قمار الخيل

Some South-West All Progressives Congress (APC) governors and leaders, all close associates of the party’s presidential candidate, Senator Bola Tinubu, met with Governor Wike in Port Harcourt, Rivers state capital, with speculations rife that it was an attempt to win Wike over to the ruling party.

The meeting took place at the private residence of the Rivers governor.

In the entourage were Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State, and that of Ekiti state, Dr. Kayode Fayemi.

Also seen at the residence of the Rivers governor were Senator Olaka Nwogu and former Ekiti State governor, Ayodele Fayose, all of who declined to comment on the meeting.

With the host, Wike, also evasive on baring the mission of the visitors and outcome of the meeting, a Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, chieftain in Rivers told Vanguard, “There is nothing hidden under the sun. كازينو مباشر

“They have their reasons for not spilling what transpired now, but at the right time, someone would speak if he has to.”

Speculations are rife that the move is all about taking advantage of the fragile state of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, at the moment to win Wike over to the ruling APC.

The feeling is that the Rivers governor was betrayed both in the party’s presidential primary and the selection of a running mate for PDP’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.
