President Buhari’s Absence At Oyetola Re-Election Rally, A Sign Of Disapproval To Rig Poll, Says PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party in Osun State has said the absence of President Muhammadu Buhari at the re-election rally of Governor Adegboyega Oyetola held in Osogbo on Tuesday was a sign of his disapproval of any attempt to rig the Saturday governorship election.

A statement signed by the PDP caretaker chairman, Akindele Adekunle, obtained in Osogbo, then called on the security agencies to take a cue from that and reject unlawful directive to rig Saturday’s poll.

The statement read in part, “Buhari’s absence at the rally was a signal of his disapproval of any attempt to rig the governorship election as directed by the APC National Chairman, Adamu Abdullahi. We call on law enforcement agencies to resist unlawful orders and protect the democratic process.

“President Buhari now eyeing his own legacy clearly snubbed the Osogbo rally. It is now left to security chiefs to know that aiding and abetting rigging is not only criminal but also carry heavy repercussions afterward.”

“We particularly condemn Governor Oyetola for his assertion that he would not hand over power even before the election was held. We find the statement as anti-democracy and a declaration of war against the democratic process.”

Efforts to get a reaction from the media adviser to the Osun APC chairman, Kola Olabisi, were futile as calls to his mobile line did not go through and he had yet to reply to messages sent to him as of the time of filing this report.

While revealing that the outfit had arrested pickpockets at other rallies within the State for stealing cell phones, Shittu stated that the suspects will be handed over to the police on Wednesday. لعب روليت مجاني

PDP Chieftain Iworiso-Markson Dumps Party, Joins SDP

A former Commissioner for Information and Orientation in Bayelsa State, Daniel Iworiso-Markson has resigned his membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and joined the Social Democratic Party (SDP).

Iworiso-Markson, in a letter dated July 7, 2022, and addressed to the PDP chairman of ward 11 in Ogbia Local Government Area of the State, said he decided to quit the party because of unfair treatment.

He also said his decision was borne out of his desire to pursue his aspiration to offer quality representation to the people of Ogbia Federal Constituency.

According to him, several weeks after the primaries in which he took part, there has not been any form of overtures by the leaders of the party, knowing how aggrieved some of the aspirants were due to the process and outcome of the exercise. كازينو

He lamented that the shabby treatment he got was accompanied by a series of blackmail to discredit him all in a bid to deny him the PDP ticket to contest the 2023 general election.

He said the shameless propaganda that he had no electoral value was the height of the gross political humiliation he suffered in the run-up to the PDP primaries, adding that he had decided to go ahead to contest the main election and allow the people of Ogbia to decide his fate and electoral worth. كيف تربح في القمار

The letter read in part: “This signifies my decision to officially quit the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). As it is customary, I am writing to inform you and also state the reasons behind my action which were well thought out.

“Recall that on May 23, 2022, I contested for the ticket of the PDP for Ogbia Federal Constituency. The process and outcome of the election even though not satisfactory, were swept under the carpet. Ordinarily, it was expected that the PDP leadership will reach out and make certain overtures to assuage the feelings of people like me but more than a month after, nothing has been done.

“Rather, the party has continued as if all is well even when it is glaring that it is not. I consider this as an act of disregard and disdain, especially against the likes of me that has contributed so much to the success of the party since 2012. My record of service and loyalty while in government to both the party and the state cannot be denied and even when things went bad I remained not minding the threats”.

The former Commissioner stated that even after the primaries, he kept receiving calls and messages from people of his constituency urging him to pursue his ambition using another platform because of their conviction of what he has to offer.

Iworiso-Markson added that he decided to listen to the compelling voices by joining the Social Democratic Party (SDP) to push for the realization of his ambition to represent the people of Ogbia at the Green Chambers of the National Assembly. مواقع مراهنات كرة القدم

“Although, I had moved on after the primaries despite how unfair the party treated me but yet was inundated with calls and messages on the need to be on the ballot for the 2023 election.

“Those who have reached out to me gave very valid reasons that bother on quality representation which they believe I can offer. Their argument was robust, rich, and very compelling and I accepted it. I have therefore decided to pursue my ambition to go to the House of Representatives on the platform of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in order to actualize my dream of creating a new Ogbia through sound legislation.

“I am also convinced that at this moment the SDP will treat me with respect, accord me with all the regard that a loyal party man deserves and not look the other way when it matters most,” he stated.

Iworiso-Markson, who noted that his decision will come to many as a huge surprise, “, particularly to my leaders including former Governor, Senator Henry Seriake Dickson. I do sincerely apologize. I hope they see things from my perspective and that of Ogbia people who are yearning for real development.”

He added that with the ongoing litigation concerning the ticket of the party for Ogbia Federal Constituency, there is every reason to believe that the PDP may run into trouble waters if the court decides to grant the prayers of the petitioner who is seeking a nullification of the entire process.

We’re Not Sleeping – Gov Diri Vows To Go After Abductors Of Goodluck Jonathan’s Cousin

Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, has said he would unleash the full wrath of the law on the abductors of the former Commissioner for Special Duties (Federal Projects) in the state and cousin to former President Goodluck Jonathan, Mr. Mike Ogiasa.

The governor made this known during the 17th state Security Council meeting in Government House, Yenagoa.

Diri assured that the state government was working to ensure Ogiasa regains freedom.

Diri, who condemned the kidnapping of the former commissioner, stressed that his administration had zero tolerance for crime and criminality and all those involved in the kidnap will not go scot-free.

Spokesman to Governor Diri, Daniel Alabrah, in a statement, quoted the governor as saying that the people of the state and the Ijaw nation at large were known for honesty, truth, and hard work and wondered why some youths allowed themselves to be used as agents of criminality.

He cautioned youths against involvement in crime, stating that it is an ill wind that blows no one any good.

He urged them to seek legitimate means of making money rather than resorting to crime, stressing that the government had the capacity to deal with perpetrators.

He called on the people to support the government’s efforts to secure the state by availing relevant security agencies of the necessary information as the government alone cannot successfully tackle insecurity.

He said: “Let no youth be used to terrorize our brothers and sisters. Recently, a video clip of a kidnapped former commissioner has been in circulation. Unfortunately, people take pleasure in using it to give a negative connotation and image of our state.

“The government is not sleeping on that matter. We are working on it and by God’s grace, we believe and hope that the victim will come out alive.

Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the 2023 election, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on Tuesday described Labour party as a mushroom group.

He made the comment while campaigning for Governor Adegboyega Oyetola at a mega rally in Osogbo.

Oyetola is seeking a second term of four years in Saturday’s governorship election in Osun state.

“PDP and mushroom parties. Like Labour party. They say they are labour, they will labour till death,” Tinubu said in Yoruba.

“God will not let you become labourers,” he told the crowd of supporters. “You will meet good fortune at home. The good fortune of money, children. You are next.”

Mr Tinubu attended the rally alongside Senate President, Ahmad Lawan and several APC Governors, including campaign lead, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State.

Other Governors present at the rally include Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State, Babagana Zulum of Borno State and Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi State.

The spokesman of the Northern Elders Forum, NEF, Hakeem Baba-Ahmed has asked President Muhammadu Buhari to resign.

Baba-Ahmed said Buhari should just resign now because things would get tougher.

The former Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Secretary gave the advice in reaction to the President’s revelation that he is eager to leave power.

Buhari spoke when he hosted some All Progressives Congress (APC) governors, legislators, and chieftains at his Daura home in Katsina.

Noting that he has less than a year left in office, the Nigerian leader assured him that he would do his best in the remaining months.

“I wish the person who is coming after me the very best. I am eager to go. I can tell you it has been tough”, he said.

Reacting, Baba-Ahmed told Buhari that it was not too late to throw in the towel.

“President Buhari told APC Govs that he is looking forward to the end of his tenure, saying it has been tough.

“Who would remind him that he does not need to wait until May 29th, 2023? Who will tell him it looks like things will only get tougher?”, he tweeted.

In response to a Twitter user who said Buhari “doesn’t listen to mad men”, the former permanent secretary said: “Please tell him yourself.

“You will be doing us all a great favour. Remind him he is elected to perform governance functions like protecting citizens.

“If he will not, or cannot, he can yield the office to his Vice until 2023. Then he can start resting now. That’s how it works.”

2023 Presidency: Why Kwankwaso, Peter Obi May Not Defeat Atiku, Tinubu – Adeyanju

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar has been accused of blocking the chances of the party returning to power.

Atiku’s decision to stay away from the country and only return during elections is said to be a stumbling block toward PDP’s push to return to power.

The PDP presidential candidate had been residing in Dubai since he lost the last presidential election in 2019.

He returned to Nigeria briefly during the party’s presidential primary election which he won.

It was learnt that shortly after the primary election and unveiling of his running mate, Ifeanyi Okowa, the former Vice President flew out of the country again, despite the crisis bedevilling the party.

However, Deji Adeyanju, a socio-political commentator, said Atiku’s conduct and behaviour had shown that he does not have the interest of the PDP at heart.

Adeyanju said the Waziri of Adamawa is not serious about winning the 2023 presidential election.

In an interview with DAILY POST, Adeyanju said: “From his conduct and behaviour, Atiku has only his interest at heart, and anyway you look at it, there is no way you can tell me that a man who scored almost 11 million votes will refuse to go to court even for one day on his own matter.

“We saw how Buhari consistently was at every sitting of the Court of Appeal, Supreme Court pursuing his case. He was there with lots of his supporters, that is, somebody who is serious about business.

“Atiku has become like a serial candidate; he wants to contest every election. He just wants to be on the ballot. I’m yet to see his level of seriousness and strategy.

“That’s why I was the first person to call him out; how can you lose an election then go and spend three years in Dubai? Muslims just had big Sallah, and Atiku is not in the country, and this is somebody who is a frontrunner in the presidential election. He was not in Ekiti, and Osun is a few days away, and he is missing in action.

“These are indices that the man is not serious, and that is why I said except barring any last-minute dynamics; I see APC having the win because the level of seriousness I expect from the opposition is not there.

“Six weeks after presidential primaries, ‘Obedient’ people are still making noise on social media; they are not anywhere in the country, not building any structure; they are just insulting people online. Kwankwaso has the same thing; what is he doing aside from granting interviews, nothing. So, these are not serious people.”

He lamented that while the All Progressives Congress, APC, presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu is in Osun State campaigning for his party, Atiku is “missing in action.”

The rights activist recalled a similar scenario during the last governorship election in Ekiti State.

He added: “Tinubu was in Ekiti and was shouting broom, broom; you will be shocked that he would soon be on his way to Osun. The seriousness from the opposition is just not there.

“When somebody is not serious, of course, he is blocking PDP’s chances of returning to power. If we say, somebody is not serious about a strategy to win an election; it’s like Obi, who is just a social media presidential candidate and likes to appear on TV to dazzle people with figures that don’t add up sometimes.

“Look at Tinubu during the APC presidential primaries; he didn’t grant one television interview, and he wasn’t on social media saying anything. Osinbajo was popular on social media and doing the PR, yet he came third. AMAECHI, who did not do anything, came second.

“So, politics is dynamic; you must be willing to do the work.”

Muslim-Muslim Ticket: Northern Christians Vow Not To Campaign For Tinubu

Christians of Northern extraction in the APC said they can no longer campaign for the party’s presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu because of his choice of a Muslim running mate.

They made this position known in a communiqué issued to journalists, on Tuesday, following an emergency meeting in Abuja where the issue of the religious colouration of the APC’s presidential ticket and its implication for the nation was on the front burner.

According to the communiqué jointly signed by Prof. Doknan Sheni (Chairman) and General Ishaya Bauka (Secretary), the group explained that Tinubu’s selection of a Muslim running mate had exasperated the Christians in the North, and portrayed the APC as a party that is insensitive to their yearnings.

It warned that if the selection of Senator Kashim Shettima as the party’s vice presidential resident candidate is not reversed before July 15, there would be serious and grave consequences. ربح فلوس

The communique reads: “The Christian politicians in the 19 Northern states within APC met in Abuja to deliberate on the issue of the party’s Muslim – Muslim president and vice president candidates and the implications for the nation. بينجو لعبة

“The meeting decided as follows: that as Christians within APC, we cannot in all fairness to our consciences and our faith go to our various constituencies to campaign for a Muslim – Muslim ticket.

“Nigeria is a multi-religious and constitutional democracy and NOT a theocracy. The current political atmosphere of the nation is different from what occurred in 1993 and therefore a Muslim Muslim ticket is unacceptable.

“The selection of a Moslem vice presidential candidate portrayed insensitivity to the Christians in the Nation

“The fear of the Christians in the North and the nation, in general, is that the APC will be viewed as an Islamic party and that the Muslim – Muslim ticket was not possible in 2015, why should it be possible in 2023?

“More so, that we are apprehensive that the person picked might have had a hand in the Chibok girls’ saga and other terror activities.

“Muslim-Muslim ticket would undermine the election chances of Christians candidates in APC in the various states in the North. ربح المال عن طريق اللعب

“The Christians in the North and the whole nation are highly aggravated, considering that the chairman of the party is a Muslim, deputy chairman (North) is a Muslim, the president of the Senate is a Muslim, the Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives are Muslims, and now both the presidential and vice-presidential candidates are Muslims.

“Apart from this violating the constitution section 14 subsection 3, if this was to be reversed that all these were Christians, can any Muslim in the North be able to sell the APC presidential tickets to any Muslim Ummah?

“If this selection of a Muslim Vice President candidate is not changed, there will be serious and grave consequences.

“At this moment of national peril, what should be paramount in Nigeria is unity and not infrastructure or economy. For without unity we cannot build.

“Any party or candidate that elevates the greed of a few above the needs of the many has no business running the affairs of Nigeria.”

Just Resign, Remain In Daura Since You’re Tired Of The Country – HURIWA Begs Buhari

Following the admission by President Muhammadu Buhari that the Presidency is tough and that he is “eager to go,” a call has gone out to the Nigerian leader to be honest enough to resign now and remain in Daura.

Buhari had told his people in Daura, Katsina State that, “In ten to eleven months’ time, I will come here. I have a better house in Kaduna, but it is too close to Abuja.

“I am eager to go. I can tell you it has been tough…”

Reacting, a group, Human Rights Writers Association, HURIWA, wondered why the President could still hold on to power if he is this tired, admonishing him “to immediately resign so he does not create additional burdens that may be too tough for the incoming administration to confront.”

The group feels that the current administration has not only endangered national security interests by the alleged nepotistic appointments, but is comfortable working with saboteurs.

HURIWA appealed to Buhari to be a statesman by tendering his resignation from office now to stave-off greater disasters that await the nation, according to the group.

The Rights group regretted that as stated in a report from the CBN, Nigeria has lost more than 80 percent in foreign investments in the last three years.

HURIWA citing official statistics disclosed that Capital imports into Nigeria had dipped by 81.46 percent, about $6.91 billion from $8.49 billion in the first quarter of 2019 to $1.57 billion in the same period of 2022, as disclosed by a data from the Nigeria Bureau of Statistics (NBS).

According to the NBS data, Nigeria’s capital imports reports for four years say there is a steady drop in capital inflows into the country.

HURIWA further accused Buhari of destroying the national economy over his administration’s alleged failures to defend the country from external and internal terrorists.

The rights group cited the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN’s latest Monetary Policy Committee meeting (MPC), when it stated that an unconducive domestic investment climate is affecting foreign capital inflows into the country.

Furthermore, the human rights advocacy group described as the “worst show of shame” Buhari’s unwillingness to take measures to stop the incessant industrial actions by the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU.
