Former Governor of Edo State, Adams Oshiomhole has mocked the Presidential candidate of Labour Party (LP), Dr. Peter Obi, saying “this ‘Obidient’ or disobedient’ time will tell.”

Obi’s followers are the ones who coined the term ‘Obidient’, wanting people to be supportive of his presidential aspiration.

Oshiomhole, in an interview on Arise TV on Wednesday said Obi had not been able to tell Nigerians how he wanted to do what he said he was going to do.

He said Obi had also tactically dodged some intriguing questions put across to him during interviews.

“I watch your programme regularly, I have seen one of the presidential candidates, when you ask him of security, he said he would not disclose it, it is secret, so we have to vote for him on the basis of what is in his mind.

“But I can tell you, we have to double the size of the armed forces, not only in relation to the fact that our population has doubled but in relation to current challenges around the world and within our country and neighbourhood.

“Those who have rushed out on what they want to do, how much have they expatiated on them?. I have watched them get away with number of intriguing questions you put to them.

“They have not sufficiently in most cases addressed the ‘how.’ That is why I talked about one of them, I think it was Obi, you asked him how and he said it is a secret,” he said.

One of the anchors, Reuben Abati then said: “The ‘Obidients’ will come after you sir.” Oshiomhole replied: “I will come after them. this obidient or disoidient, time will tell.

“We live in world where you can have 10 young men or women in one room, whether motivated or not motivated, and they can churn out one million stories using different names. You need to track them to find out that this one thing is being done in one room.

“Time will tell and also, what has changed? My dear friend, Obi, was a VP candidate, how come people massively disobeyed the ticket? What has changed now that you think people will be ‘Obidient’? Slogans are nice but real issues are probably nicer and I am looking forward to the campaign stage where we have to address the issues of ‘how’ because too many of us gets away with too many things,”

It will also serve as an additional institution to meet the ever growing needs of Abians seeking careers in Nursing and related fields.

Pastor Emeka Inyamah has been inaugurated as the Director-General of the Council of Rt. Hon. Chinedum Orji, Speaker of Abia State House of Assembly.

The Federal Government, on Wednesday, justified the approval of N1,145,000,000.00 for the purchase of vehicles for neighbouring Niger Republic.

There had been outrage over the Federal Government’s largesse to the neighbouring country, as some have questioned why such money should be given to Niger Republic when public universities in Nigerian remained closed for about five months over the inability of the government to meet up with the demands of staff.

The outrage began after journalist and social media influencer, David Hundeyin, exposed the Federal Government’s gift to Niger Republic.

However, the Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Mrs. Zainab Ahmed, when asked to confirm the reports, argued that even though Nigerians have the right to question the approval, President Muhammadu Buhari, who approved the purchase also has the right to make his own assessment on situations and act accordingly.

Responding to questions at the end of the weekly Federal Executive Council, FEC, meeting presided over by President Buhari at the Council Chambers, Presidential Villa, Abuja, the Minister said Nigeria has a policy of assisting its neighbours to strengthen capacity to deal with insecurity.

According to her, over time, Nigeria has been supporting her neighbours, adding that the donation was to enhance the capacity of Niger Republic to maintain security.

She said that the President has the liberty to access what is in the best interest of the country.

While maintaining that the President reserved the right to take decisions in the interest of Nigeria, she said, “this was not the first time the country is providing such interventions to her neighbours.

“Let me just say that over time, Nigeria has had to support its neighbours, especially the immediate neighbours, to enhance their capacity to secure their countries as it relates to us.

“This is not the first time that Nigeria had assisted Niger Republic, Cameroon or Chad.

“The President makes an assessment as to what is required based on the request of their Presidents. Such requests are approved and interventions are provided.

“It is to enhance their capacity to protect their countries, as it relates to security and also to Nigeria.”

She further added, “Nigerians have the rights to ask questions, but also the President has the responsibility to make an assessment of what is in the best interest of the country and I cannot question the decision myself.

“I have said that this is not the first time and that Nigeria as a country has provided an intervention to our neighbors. It is in the best interest of Nigeria to do so.”

Report had it that the President approved about 10 Toyota Land Cruiser vehicles to the Republic of Niger, but did not specify the purpose for such approval.

The document released by Hundeyin showed that the pPresident approved the release of the fund on February 22.

The contract to supply the 10 units of Toyoya Land Cruiser was awarded to IFO Kaura Motors Nig. Limited.

The General Officer Commanding 82 Division Nigerian Army, Major General Taoreed Lagbaja, has honoured four soldiers serving in the Division for their diligence while performing their duties.

The honoured soldiers are Staff Seargent Amodu Simon, Seargeant Oyinbo Emmanuel, Corporal Mbanaso Isaac, and Private Ibrahim Lawal.

A statement on Wednesday by the Deputy Director Army Public Relations, Col Abubakar Abdullahi, said they were honoured during an event held on Tuesday at Abakpa Cantonment Enugu, where each received a brand new motorcycle, in addition to letters of commendation from the GOC.

While making the presentation to the soldiers, Maj Gen Lagbaja described their conduct as commendable and exemplary and noted that the soldiers’ assiduousness in ensuring the hygiene of the various portions of the cantonment assigned to them was impressive. He charged other Division soldiers to emulate the honourees’ exemplary conduct.

The General Officer Commanding disclosed that the four motorcycles presented to the soldiers were a symbol of appreciation for their outstanding conduct. He, therefore, enjoined them not to relent in their duties even if they thought nobody was observing.

Each of the four awarded soldiers was drawn from various units of the Division and was picked after carefully observing their conduct over a period.

Abia Records Three Cases Of Monkeypox As Govt Cautions Residents

Abia State government has cautioned residents to maintain all stipulated guidelines to prevent and control the spread of monkeypox disease in the state.

Speaking with Radio Nigeria in Umuahia, Epidemiologist Abia State Ministry of Heath, Lady Peace Nwogugu, noted that out of the three confirmed cases, two recovered rapidly. العاب استراتيجية اون لاين

She added that contact tracing and collection of samples for testing from those who came close to them had been done.

She noted that while government had activated all necessary response activities, residents had an integral role to play in the prevention and control of the ailment by adhering to the stipulated public health directory. لعبة البوكر مجانا

The Epidemiologist reiterated that as an ailment that spreads through contact, residents should avoid contact with infected or suspected to have had contact with a confirmed person, take regular hand washing seriously, avoid unnecessary gatherings or travel and maintain social distance.

She also called on public health workers to maintain high index of suspicion and use a new hand glove to attend to each patient after washing their hand, while not hesitating to report and escalate any case of a patient who presented with high fever and rashes for appropriate action to be taken to that effect.

According to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, between January 1 and July 24th, 2022, 133 confirmed cases of Monkeypox comprising 89 males and 44 females were reported in Nigeria while the ailment had so far claimed three lives.

The lawmaker in a congratulatory message on Wednesday described the feat as remarkable. She grabbed the gold medal at the women’s discus.

Robbery Suspects, Impersonating Police Officers Arrested In Imo [PHOTOS]

Operatives of Imo State Police Command have arrested two suspected armed robbery gang members, who impersonated officers to kidnap and rob unsuspecting citizens.

The suspects are Goodness Chinaza, ‘m’, 23, and Emeka Orji, ‘m’, 24, while one of the gang members, Julius Chigozie, escaped when operatives invaded their residence.

The Command’s spokesperson, Micheal Abattam, in a statement on Tuesday, said one locally made double barrel shotgun, one Jackknife, police uniforms, and bulletproof vests were recovered from them.

According to Abattam, the suspected armed gang, who dressed up in stolen officers’ uniforms, specialised in blocking the roads, checking people’s vehicles as if they are genuine officers while robbing them of their valuables.

“Following a distress call received on July 20 at about 1800 hours, from a robbery victim, who accidentally saw one of the three armed robbers that robbed him of his ash-coloured Lexus 330 Jeep marked: RLU 08 AH on gunpoint, on July 18 at about 1800hrs along Mbano Street, Aladinma Owerri, Imo State.

“They forced him into the booth, took him to a lonely place, robbed him of all his valuables, and used his cell phone and transferred the sum of N100,000.00)out of his bank account to one of their accounts.

“The team immediately mobilised and stormed the scene and arrested one Goodness Chinaza ‘m’ residing at Aladinma Owerri, Imo State. On interrogation, he confessed to being a member of a robbery gang and admitted robbing the victim.

“He then led police operatives to arrest Emeka Orji ‘m’ aka “COCO” aged 24 of the same address, while Julius Chigozie ‘m’ escaped.

“On further interrogation, they both revealed where they concealed the robbed vehicle at Rapour Hotel, Amakohia Owerri, lmo State. However, the vehicle was recovered at the station.

“Investigation revealed that the three suspects were residing in a quarter in Aladinma Owerri, where they broke into the apartment of a late police officer in the same quarters, stole his uniforms, bulletproof vests, and other valuables. They started using the same to rob innocent citizens.

“Their modus operandi is that they dress up in the stolen uniform, block the road, check vehicles as if they are genuine police officers. Once they see a flashy car, they will stop the driver, requesting for the vehicle particulars. In the bid of giving them the particulars, they will drag him out, put him in the booth of the car and zoom off to a safe place, where they will rob the innocent victim.

“Sometimes, they end up kidnapping the victim for a ransom, until luck ran against them and they were arrested,” he added

Interpol Systems Consultant and Abia-born security expert, Sir Chikwe Udensi has expressed regret for voting President Muhammadu Buhari in 2015 as the country’s President.

According to Udensi, Buhari’s underlying incompetences were largely not noticed, stating that his lack of grasp of the country’s security issues as well as lack of willpower to take the right decisions is responsible for the growing insecurity in Nigeria.

Speaking during his weekly appearance on Love FM Umuahia at the programme, Open Parliament which was streamed live on ABN TV and ABN Radio, Udensi an APGA chieftain insists that the leadership and character of the people at the helm of affairs are responsible for the disturbing security challenges across Nigeria.

“The problem we have is that of the ideal ability of our leadership to take proper grasp of the issues.

“I told you the last time, that I personally voted in 2015 for then-candidate of APC, Muhammadu Buhari to be president but I tell you that today, I regret it.

“We probably overrated Buhari. There are so many incompetences we did not notice he had. Buhari is not in charge, it’s not only me saying so, even the first lady has said the president is not in charge,” he said.

Udensi said individuals who are in charge are not concerned about the security and welfare of citizens, insisting that Buhari has disappointed Nigerians.

He, therefore, called on the federal government to acquire drones and take the war to terrorists instead of waiting for them to attack.

He applauded America for killing the deputy of Osama Bin Laden in a drone operation, urging the federal government to take a cue from America and eliminate terrorists troubling Nigeria.

Angry Youths Burn Mortuary In Abia Community [PHOTOS]

Youths of Ndiolumbe in Isiala Ngwa South local government area of Abia State have reportedly burnt down a mortuary located in their community.

It was gathered the youths set ablaze the facility over speculations the owner of the mortuary engages in the alleged harvest and sale of organs of corpses deposited at the morgue.

Also, corroborating the story, Mr. Ubani Dannie, the Youth leader of Ukwa la Ngwa Cultural Group, in a Facebook post revealed that the incident took place in his constituency.

“In my constituency of Isiala Ngwa South, an angry mob went berserk yesterday destroying a morgue”, Ubani wrote on Facebook.

According to him, “the morgue, Prince ‘O’ Mortuary located in Ndiolumbe Abia, incurred the wrath of the irate youths for allegedly indulging in the sacrilege of harvesting organs of the dead. Consequently, the youths burnt ambulances.”

Meanwhile, the Police in Abia is yet to comment on the incident, as calls and messages sent at the time of this report remain unanswered.
