Afenifere Challenges Buhari To Show Terrorists, Bandits That He’s In Charge Of Government

Pan Yoruba socio-political organisation, Afenifere, has asked President Muhammadu Buhari to show that he is still in charge of the nation.

Expressing concern with the rising insecurity in Nigeria, the group wondered if Buhari is aware of the situation in the country.

Highlighting various cases of killings and kidnappings for ransom across the country, Publicity Secretary of the group, Comrade Jare Ajayi, said no part of the country is safe.

He disclosed that in Ogbomoso, Oyo State in the South-West, three cases of kidnapping were recorded which involved death of the victims.

Ajayi noted that the insecurity festered because of the “kid-glove manner” with which government is dealing with it, adding, “terrorists and kidnappers have been so emboldened that they now attack security institutions at will and malevolently go into houses of their victims to deal with fellow Nigerians – all under the watch of government and security agencies!”

He said, “Instances that can be cited in this respect included the following: Reports have it that bandits on the night of Sunday, August 7, attacked and killed three persons while scores were reportedly abducted by the attackers in Bali town, headquarters of Bali Local Government Area of Taraba State.

“The bandits began to raid people from house to house after overpowering the security personnel at the checkpoint.

“Just last Friday, four police officers were killed when gunmen attacked Agwa Divisional Police Headquarters in Oguta Local Government Area of Imo State, Nigeria’s South-east.”

Noting that the government and security agencies have been ‘doing one thing or the other’ on insecurity, Ajayi stated that the expected result has not been achieved due to “uncoordinated strategies among others.”

Afenifere also faulted the idea of re-integrating confirmed terrorists and bandits “as evidence had shown that such seemingly reintegrated bandits go ahead to commit crimes that are more heinous than the ones they were known for beforehand”.

He stated that the President must go beyond condemning and prove to the terrorists that he’s still in charge.

The statement added: “Equally important, President Muhammadu Buhari needs to come out and let perpetrators of terrorism and kidnapping know that he has had enough. He should let them realize that the pact he signed with Nigerians was not to come and see to the serial termination of their lives but to ensure their security, improve their welfare and move the nation to a desirable next level. Unfortunately, the president has not been able to deliver on any of the desirables. He only brought to the nation, the negatives which were far from the expectation of anybody.”

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) searched the home of ex-United States President Donald Trump on Monday.

The 76-year-old Republican was not present and was in the New York City area, his associates hinted.

A furious Trump described the operation at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida as a “raid”.

In a statement, the billionaire businessman informed the public that the agents broke open his safe. كيفية ربح المال

The former leader said his Palm Beach property was “under siege, raided, and occupied by a large group of FBI agents”.

“After working and cooperating with the relevant government agencies, this unannounced raid on my home was not necessary or appropriate,” he noted.

Alleging an attempt to influence the midterm elections, Trump likened the FBI’s action to the Nixon campaign bugging during the Watergate scandal.

But the raid is most likely connected to the investigation of the January 6, 2021 invasion of the Capitol. روليت مجاني

Trump’s supporters went into a rage after he insisted the election was “stolen” and charged them to go “stop the steal”.

Summon Courage To Put Nigeria To A Vote, Nnamdi Kanu’s Counsel Challenges Buhari

A Special Counsel to Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Aloy Ejimakor has insisted that the separatist agitator is not a “bad guy.”

He anchored his conviction on a ruling by an Abia Court on the invasion of Kanu’s residence by the Army and a remark by the United Nations, UN to the effect of Nnamdi Kanu’s innocence of accusations levelled against him by the federal government.

He recalled the court’s ruling that the Army attempted to terminate Kanu’s life.

In a tweet, Ejimakor said such a stance had shown that Kanu is not a bad guy and should be freed.

According to Ejimakor: “It’s the view of this court that the Army set out as pythons to terminate the life of Nnamdi Kanu (Abia Court).

“Nigerian govt should “take appropriate measures against those responsible for the violation of his rights” (United Nations).

“#MNK is not the bad guy. Free him, now!”

The UN recently indicted both the Nigerian and Kenyan governments for the extraordinary rendition, torture, and continued detention of Kanu without due process.

Consequently, the UN agreed and recommended to the Federal Government to immediately release Kanu unconditionally.

Nnamdi Kanu is currently standing trial at the Federal High Court in Abuja in allegations bordering of terrorism and running illegal organisations, a charge he has since denied.

He has twice applied for bail, applications which Presiding Judge Binta Nyako declined.

He is currently at the facility of the Department of State Services, DSS in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.

Nnamdi Kanu Still Our Leader – IPOB

After UN Advised FG To Release Nnamdi Kanu With Compensation, IPOB Says It's Vindicated

The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB has said that it has not replaced the currently detained Nnamdi Kanu as its leader.

The Biafra group asked its followers to ignore the reports making the rounds that IPOB has replaced Kanu, describing it as “fabricated media propaganda”.

These were made known in a statement by the group’s Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, on Tuesday.

According to Powerful, Mazi Chika Edoziem is the head of the IPOB Directorate of State and not IPOB Acting Leader.

The statement read in part, “We, the global movement and family of IPOB under the command and leadership of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, condemn the useless and fabricated media propaganda and blackmail from some media houses that IPOB has another or acting leader replacing our indefatigable liberator and prophet Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.

“Those peddling this kind of lies are those criminals who zoo gutter media are publishing this to confuse the weak-minded people.

“We want everybody to bear in mind that Mazi Chika Edoziem is the head of IPOB Directorate of State and not IPOB Acting Leader.

“There was never a time that Emma Powerful, the Publicity Secretary of IPOB issued any statement purporting that our Leader had been replaced by Mazi Chika Edoziem as IPOB Acting Leader.

“The said statement was the handiwork of mischievous elements bent on causing confusion in IPOB.

“It is unfortunate that some mischievous elements twisted an unambiguous statement by IPOB where we clarified that in the meantime that our Leader is in detention, the Head of DOS, Mazi Edoziem, will be providing direction on the day-to-day activities of IPOB. We never said that Edoziem had become the Acting Leader of IPOB.

“For the avoidance of doubts, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu remains the leader of IPOB. The entire IPOB family all over the world is loyal to him. IPOB has no Acting Leader. Chika Edoziem is only the Head of DOS of IPOB not the Leader.

“We, therefore, urge our family members, supporters, friends, and members of the public to ignore the misleading and mischievous media report.”

The Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps, Brigadier General Mohammed Fadah, has expressed zero tolerance for corps members’ involvement in local politics.

Fadah made this disclosure in Gombe State on Tuesday during the batch B stream II orientation camp closing ceremony held at Amada, Akko Local Government Area.

Our correspondent reports that 925 corps members, comprising 303 males and 622 females, passed out during the low-key ceremony.

According to the Director-General, instead of getting involved in the electioneering process, each of them should take seriously Community Development Service, which would enhance society.

Fadah, represented at the occasion by the state coordinator, Ada Imoni, stressed that management would sanction defaulters who go against bye-laws.

He revealed that respecting and appreciating their values is the fastest way to integrate into the host communities.

The Director-General said, “Your letters of posting to Places of Primary Assignment will be handed to you soon after this ceremony. In this regard, I would like to remind you of your oath of allegiance in which you pledged to accept posting in good faith.

“I enjoin you to perform your duties with diligence and be guided by the provisions of the NYSC Act and Bye-Laws as well as workplace rules and regulations. In keeping with the objectives of the Scheme, you are expected to integrate into your host communities while also appreciating and respecting their cultures.

“I must, however, emphasise that engagement in their local politics is a no-go-area for you. Furthermore, I enjoin you to undertake personal and group Community Development.”

While lamenting the dangers of fake news, and false information in the disintegration of constituent units, Fadah urged corps members to seek clarification from NYSC management.

He said, “I urge you to avoid using social media for ethnic jingoism, rumour peddling, and the promotion of hatred. Instead, your activities online should be targeted at self-improvement as well as the promotion of the unity, peace and prosperity of our dear country.

“In the same vein, avoid being speculative on issues affecting the NYSC and, instead, visit our website, social media platforms, and other official channels for clarifications.”

Commenting on incessant accidents and security threats, Fadah urged corps members to seek due approvals while warning against night travels.

Sooner Or Later Europe To Wonder If Zelensky Is Doing Everything Right – Kremlin

Russian Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov

European countries supporting Kiev will sooner or later begin to wonder whether Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky is doing everything right, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Tuesday, commenting on Zelensky’s interview with the Washington Post, in which he said, among other things, that Western countries should ban all Russians from entering their territory.

“Zelensky should understand that European countries that are trying to punish Russia, as they say, are already actively paying the bill for it. The countries themselves are paying the bill, and the citizens are paying the bill. And sooner or later these countries will also begin to wonder, ‘is Zelensky doing everything right, why do our citizens have to pay for his whims?’ So the Ukrainian side should be aware of this,” Peskov said.

Chinese Diplomat Clarifies Goals Of Military Exercises Around Taiwan

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin

Beijing is conducting military drills around Taiwan to give a warning to the United States and teach a lesson to “Taiwanese separatists,” Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Wang Wenbin said on Tuesday.

“The measures that we took in response to US House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s hasty visit to Taiwan are absolutely legitimate and justified,” he pointed out, when asked to confirm or deny statements that China was conducting the drills as part of preparations for a military invasion of Taiwan. “It is a warning for instigators and a lesson for Taiwanese separatists,” the diplomat added.

“There is only one China and Taiwan is its integral part,” Wang Wenbin emphasized.

Taiwan’s top diplomat Joseph Wu said earlier that China had taken advantage of Pelosi’s visit to Taipei to launch large-scale drills near the island, which, in his view, were aimed at changing the status quo across the Taiwan Strait.

The Chinese armed forces launched military exercises involving live firing in six areas around Taiwan the next day after Pelosi’s visit to Taipei.

Taiwan has been governed by its local administration since 1949 when the remaining Kuomintang forces led by Chiang Kai-shek (1887-1975) fled to the island after suffering a defeat in China’s civil war. Since then, Taiwan has preserved the flag and some other symbols of the Republic of China that had existed in mainland China before the Communists came to power. Beijing regards the island as one of its provinces and this position is supported by most countries, including Russia.

‘Why Man United Should Re-sign Welbeck’ – Rio Ferdinand

Rio Ferdinand has suggested the Red Devils should re-sign Danny Welbeck to solve their attacking issues following their nightmare start to the 2022-23 campaign.

Ferdinand was impressed by the performance of Welbeck who inspired Brighton to a 2-1 win against United at Old Trafford on Sunday.

Welbeck was a torn in the flesh of his former side and provided the assist for Brighton’s first goal.

And Ferdinand has now expressed his belief that the Seagulls forward could make an impact as a foil for Cristiano Ronaldo.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Ferdinand said of a potential return to Old Trafford for his old team-mate: “Danny Welbeck starts for Man United today [Sunday] in this game.

“Welbeck walked out of that tunnel and you could see, shoulders back, chest out, thinking – ‘I will terrorize these two [Martinez and Maguire]’.

“That’s how he played today, he looked like prime-time Danny Welbeck at the Bernabeu against Real Madrid 10 years ago.

“On today’s (Sunday) performance, no doubt. If you want a back-up striker, you wouldn’t go far wrong with Danny Welbeck.

“Say to him, ‘you’re going to play 15/20 games over the season, fill in for Cristiano’. It gives us the legs, gives us the movement – the running behind defenders like he did today and it frees up the space for the likes of Bruno [Fernandes].”

Welbeck scored 29 goals in 142 appearances during his six-year spell at United before joining Arsenal in 2014.

He has spent the last two years of his career at Brighton.
