Dan Ulasi has revealed the details regarding his conversation with his friends in the north regarding the chances of Peter Obi in the 2023 presidential election. During his interview on AIT News, the former PDP state chairman described Peter Obi as a young man whom he loves dearly.
Addressing the topic, Ulasi said, “I am privileged to have been the state chairman of two national parties. I did the June 12 election as the state chairman of the NRC in Anambra State. I also served as the PDP chairman in Anambra State during the administration of Chris Ngige. These were two critical stages in the lives of my people. My interest in Peter Obi made me go to the three zones in the north to question the possibility of my brother, Peter Obi, becoming the next president.
He continued, “They laughed at me and told me it was not an internet affair. They questioned what happened in Osun state, where the governorship candidate of Peter Obi’s party only won his polling boot while losing his ward and his local government. The rest is history. This is where the sympathy begins. If the people of Osun State could not trust their own son who was running for governor, what was their business with Peter Obi? I warned about applying tribal sentiment to the presidential race, but that is where we are headed towards.
A few hours ago, a former Spokesperson of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Lagos State chapter, Joe Igbokwe, took to his social media page to caution those who are against Bola Tinubu.

The Alawo of Awo community in Egbedore Local Government Area of Osun State, Taiwo Abdulrasaq Adegboye has been sacked by the Court of Appeal sitting in Akure.
According to records from the Court of Appeal, in case of number: CA/AK/58/2021, the court presided over by Honourable Justice Lokulo Sodipo, in the lead judgment read by Honourable Justice Abiru, set aside the appointment of Taiwo Adegboye as the Alawo.
It ruled that henceforth, he should not be given due recognition as monarch by any authority in and outside the State.
It also ruled that Taiwo Adegboye should stop parading himself as a monarch and restrained him from parading himself or wearing any insignia of office as Alawo of Awo.
The Court while expressing disappointment in the Office of the Osun State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice for misleading the Osun State Government in approving the appointment and installation of Taiwo Adegboye as new Alawo, declared that the action of the State Government was in contempt of the Court.
Adegboye, who is a politician and member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) was before his installation as Alawo of Awo, the immediate past Leader of the Legislative Arm of Egbedore Local Government Area.
His appointment as the traditional ruler of Awo by the Osun State Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola on September 13, 2021, was allegedly due to his active membership in the State chapter of the APC.
Also, the now removed monarch allegedly forged his selection documents, flagrantly disobeyed court orders, and used the outdated 1957 instead of the subsisting registered 1979 Alawo of Awo Chieftaincy Declaration.
His appointment has been alleged to be fraught with fraudulent processes which made some aggrieved indigenes of the town resort to legal redress in court.
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, Kogi State, has disclosed that it arrested four suspects while 456.8 kilograms of illicit drugs were seized in four days.
This was disclosed on Tuesday in Lokoja by the state Commander of NDLEA, Abdulkadir Abdullahi-Fakai.
He said, “The 456.8kg illicit drugs, including exol-5, codeine, and Cannabis Sativa, were seized between July 30 and August 3, within the jurisdiction of Kogi State.
“Out of the 456.8kg drugs seized, 229.8kg is cannabis Sativa, 190kg is codeine and 20.6 kg is exol-5, all of which were intercepted by crack intelligence officers and forwarded to our head office in Abuja.
“The four suspects arrested will soon be charged to court for prosecution in accordance with the laws of the land.”
He expressed satisfaction with the synergy between the NDLEA and other security agencies.
Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, has approved the dissolution of boards and commissions in the state with effect from August 31.
This, however, does not include statutory commissions spelled out in Section 197 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 as amended.
Fayemi also approved the stoppage of the services of special advisers who are not cabinet members, technical advisers, directors-general, coordinators; and other heads of non-ministerial offices effective from the same date.
This was contained in a circular dated August 8 addressed to commissioners and other senior officials by the Secretary to State Government, Foluso Daramola.
The circular titled, ‘Discontinuation of services of political office holders’ was signed by a Permanent Secretary, T.G. Adejumo.
According to the circular, the decision was “in pursuit of the efforts to ensure a seamless transition of government and early processing of the terminal benefits of political office holders” ahead of the mid-October expiration of the Fayemi administration.
“While the foregoing approval takes effect from August 31, 2022, the affected officials are advised to hand over all government property in their possessions to the accounting officers or the most senior career officers in their ministries, departments, and agencies,” it added.
Following a change in plan, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced plans to commence its presidential campaign on September 28.
A meeting of the National Working Committee under the leadership of Senator Abdullahi Adamu is scheduled to hold today, to take a decision on a date and also push for a meeting of the APC National Executive Committee.
Checks revealed that at the last meeting of the NEC held in April, it ceded power to the NWC for 90 days.
A party source revealed that an emergency meeting of NEC became necessary for that statutory organ of the party to renew its authority conceded to the Senator Adamu-led NWC.
He said, “With the expiration of the three months power transfer since July 22, the NWC can no longer take vital decisions on behalf of the party without approval of the NEC and in view of this constitutional reality, some NWC members are pushing for an emergency NEC meeting.
“Barring last-minute change, tomorrow’s (Wednesday) weekly NWC will have to discuss the development with a view to fixing a date for an emergency NEC meeting before the commencement of the presidential campaign which is billed to start on September 28, 2022.”
According to the resolutions of the last April NEC meeting read to newsmen by the APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, the powers of the NEC under Article 13(3)(ii)(iii) (iv)(v) and (vi) were vested on the NWC for 90 days.
Consequently, the NEC was given the powers to discharge the functions of the NEC as enshrined in Articles 13.3 (ii) of the APC constitution.
The National Board For Technical Education has granted accreditation to eight courses offered by the Federal Polytechnic, Ukana, in Akwa Ibom State.
This was contained in a statement by the institution’s Public Relations Officer, Manasseh Umoette on Tuesday.
According to the statement, the approval was contained in a letter signed by the Director of Polytechnic Programmes, NBTE, Architect Ogoh Ngbede, and addressed to the Rector, Dr. Uduak Sunday Ukekpe.
The programmes accredited include National Diploma Civil Engineering, ND Electrical/Electronics Engineering, ND Computer Engineering, ND Science Laboratory Technology, ND Computer Science, ND Statistics, ND Accountancy and ND Business Administration and Management.
The approval, according to the statement, was sequel to the “Resource Inspection/Verification exercise embarked on by the NBTE Visitation team in the Polytechnic between 13th and 14th July, 2022.
“The approval takes effect from 2021/2022 academic session.”
Nigerians have been urged to understand that the reason behind the acquisition of security vehicles for Niger Republic by the federal government was to step up border security against terrorism and armed banditry in the country.

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC has denied reports that it succumbed to pressure from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) by backdating documents to recognise Senate President Ahmad Lawan, and former Akwa Ibom State governor, Godswill Akpabio as senatorial candidates.
National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee of INEC, Festus Okoye, said this on Tuesday in Abuja.
There have been controversies after Bashir Machina won the APC ticket for Yobe North Senatorial District, while Udom Ekpoudom won the party’s primary election in Akwa Ibom North-West.
The two primaries were monitored by INEC officials.
Okoye said the attention of the commission was drawn to an online report that it doctored, backdated, and certified documents to accommodate Lawan and Akpabio.
“Nothing can be further from the truth. As evidence of the alleged role played by the commission. A certified true copy of Form 9C uploaded by their political party and received by the Commission on 17th June 2022 when the nomination portal closed was presented,” he said.
The INEC official said that for clarity, the Form EC9 (submission of names of candidates by political parties) is the form uploaded by parties on the INEC nomination portal, and is clearly indicated on the title of the Form which was received on 17th June 2022 when the portal closed.
He also said publication of the personal particulars of nominated candidates was done a week later and that the forms of the two personalities (Lawan and Akpabio) in question were not published by the commission.
Okoye said, “The decision of the commission triggered legal action which are still ongoing. It, therefore, defies logic and common sense to go around and submit doctored documents purportedly recognising the duo as candidates when the matter is clearly sub-judice.
“As part of the ongoing case in Court, a law firm requested the commission for a Certified True Copy (CTC) of the Form EC9 submitted by the All Progressives Congress (APC) as its candidate for Akwa Ibom North West Senatorial District which we are duty bound to oblige them under the law.
“The form was certified on 15th July 2022. If minimum care has been exercised by the promoters of the story, they would have seen the two stamps of the commission bearing different dates on the form. It is this form that is now misconstrued as INEC’s endorsement.
“For the record, the commission has not recognized any of the two personalities as a senatorial candidate. We call for responsible reportage as against the unwarranted attack on the commission and its officials over a matter than can be easily fact-checked.”
