Interpol Systems Consultant and security expert, Sir Chikwe Udensi has said the solution to the de-registration of Abia State Polytechnic in Aba is not the release of N450m by the state government but by flushing out the leadership of PDP in the state.

He said the amount which was released yesterday by the government of the state is not enough to offset the 30 months salary arrears owed to the staff of the tertiary institution.

Speaking on Love FM Umuahia, streamed live on ABN TV at a political and current affairs programme on Wednesday, Udensi a chieftain of APGA said the rot in the Polytechnic is endemic and will not be cleaned just by the release of the said amount by the state governor, Okezie Ikpeazu.

While declining to unravel the outcome of investigation he said he carried out with the assistance of forensic auditors and specialists in education about the accounts of the school, Udensi said the problems of the school have been there since its creation.

According to him, given the opportunity he would carry out a massive re-organisation of the school and ensure that heads will roll, especially those responsible for the rot.

He said there is administrative inconsistencies and incompetences which he said is at the heart of the rot.

This rot has remained in the Polytechnic for years, from the formation of the Polytechnic.

“One of the things I stumbled on in the process of our due diligence was very disturbing. I don’t know if it’s okay to say it now but in the process of employment, within one period of time, one Rector of the institution employed 105 persons and 95 of these 105 persons are from his clan,” he said.

He blamed inability of the state government to make informed decisions and lack of good understanding of the issues for the problem in Abia State Polytechnic.

He, therefore, called on Abians to flush out the government of PDP in the state and install the APGA which he spearheads, saying he is expert in systems.

He also took a swipe on the state government for alleging that the school bursar was responsible for the delay in the payment of the N450m intervention, saying the Commissioner for Education and governor ought to take the blame.

The Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba, has warned police personnel in the country against extortion and other acts of indiscipline.

Baba gave the warning while addressing policemen  Wednesday at Police Headquarters in Gombe.

He said discipline and professionalism were the bedrock of policing, as such the service would not condone any act of corruption and indiscipline.

The I-G, therefore, told the police personnel to live up to expectations or lose their jobs.

Baba described extortion as a criminal offence, adding that “it’s serious and next to armed robbery, and such act have no place in the police.”

The IGP said he dismissed three policemen in the last three weeks for irresponsible behaviours.

“Any policeman holding a gun and extorting people on the road is no different from armed robber and we cannot be having glorified armed robbers,” he warned.

The IGP, however, commended police personnel for working hard to ensure security in the state and the country as a whole.

He urged them to strengthen inter-agency cooperation, including collaboration with traditional and community leaders, to enhance security and peace across the country.

The police boss directed the Gombe State Command to ensure the training and re-training of all personnel to keep them professionally fit to serve the nation better.

Baba was in the state for a three-day Security and Peace Summit convened by the state government to improve security in the state.

Borno APC Confirms Suspension Of Mohammed Kumalia.

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Borno State has confirmed the suspension of a former House of Representatives member and Minority Leader, Mohammed Kumalia.

Kumalia, who represented Maiduguri Metropolitan Federal Constituency twice was suspended Monday from his Limanti ward for alleged anti-party activities.

A letter addressed to Kumalia from the party signed by the State Publicity Secretary,  Alhaji Makinta Zarami, said the suspension has been endorsed by the State Working Committee of the party.

It said that the claim by Kumalia that he had already sent a letter of resignation before his suspension was an afterthought.

“Your purported letter of resignation dated 21st day of March 2022 was not received by the party in either the ward, local government, or state secretariats of the party.

”It is an afterthought on your part to cover up your deficiencies.

“The party further states that you remained suspended following all the allegations contained in the letter of suspension from Limanti ward,” Zarami said.

Some of the allegations leveled against Kumalia include taking the party to court in violation of article 21 (2)(xi) of the APC constitution 2022 as amended.

Others include consistent engagement in acts that are inimical to the party contrary to article 21(2), and gross indiscipline in contravention of article 21 (2) of the party constitution.

The All Progressives Congress, APC presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu has called on his Labour Party opponent, Peter Obi, to caution his supporters against purveying fake news.

Speaking on behalf of Asiwaju, the Director of Media and Communications of the Tinubu Campaign Organisation (TCO), Bayo Onanuga alleged that the supporters of Obi have been disseminating fake news to the general public, damaging the reputation of the APC candidate.

Recall that a report emerged online a few days ago, that the Ghanian President, Nana Akufo-Addo wrote a letter to Asiwaju, asking him to step down and support Peter Obi and take care of his health.

The President had via his official Twitter handle, debunked the report, calling it fake news, stating that it is a product of deliberate mischief with the intent to deceive the public.

Reacting, the TCO media Director asked Obi to disavow his supporters who are employing fake news against the former Lagos State Governor.

“We have come to a point where it becomes imperative to tell Obi to show leadership and disavow his supporters who are employing fake news and disinformation as deliberate tools to deceive and poison the minds of unsuspecting Nigerians,” Onanuga stated.

The lawmaker representing the Enugu East Senatorial District at the red chamber, Senator Chimaroke Nnamani had condemned attacks on the All Progressive Congress, APC, and presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu.

In a series of tweets on his verified Twitter handle, the former Enugu State governor described Tinubu as “the hardest working Politico of this generation”.

The lawmaker, however, said he would cast his vote for his party, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and its candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

He took up the Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, Ministry of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, and the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, saying they are “all first class with A-game always”.

The former governor condemned the attack on the alleged ill-health of the former Lagos governor, stating that those mocking Asiwaju may also have their shares later.

He wrote, “Fashola, Osinbajo, Aregbosola, Fayemi, etc. All first class with A-game always. I vigorously oppose, protest and detest the shameless campaigns and parody targeting Tinubu’s health.

“As a Health worker, I am amazed by the ignorance, foolishness, wickedness, and callousness of these idiotic operators.

“I believe they are unwarranted, extremely unprofessional, and have no place in our polity. As the GenZ grow and Nigeria merges with the new world, they will cry at the foibles of their progenitors. Get it folks, life is turn by turn.

“Since we all desire a better Nigeria, our politics should be grounded in facts and reliable evidence. This is the only way we can advance this nation. Ahmed Bola Tinubu is the MOST successful Governor in modern Nigeria bar none.

“While my vote is covered by the Umbrella per my Party PDP and our Candidate, HE Atiku Abubakar, I take a bow for the hardest working Politico of this generation. He patiently paid his dues.

“Guess what, the Igbo are not going anyway. Rather in the spirit of their fathers and forefathers more are pouring into Lagos every day. Tinubu is qualified to run for president of Nigeria in 2023 as there is no evidence that he has dementia”.

Wike Will Need Grace Of God To Walk Free After 2023 Elections, If Tinubu Wins - APC Publicity Secretary

The Rivers state All Progressives Congress, APC, Publicity Secretary, Chris Finebone, has declared that the Rivers state Governor, Nyesom Wike, will need the grace of God to walk free after 2023, if the All Progressives Congress, APC and its presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, win the presidential elections.

Finebone who made this declaration recently, while noting that this was why Wike was desperate for an alliance with Tinubu and the APC, argued that as things stood, the Rivers state Governor, needed protection post 2023.

In his words; “We know that the desperate party or side in this entire calculation is Wike. Reason is that head or tail with Atiku, he will lose. Assuming without conceding that Atiku wins, he will surely put away Wike in a cold manner. Wike understands this. In a scenario where Asiwaju/APC wins, Wike deserves the grace of God to walk free. He needs the protection post 2023 so badly”.

Notably, Finebone appears convinced that as things stand, only the alliance with Tinubu and APC, will help Wike remain relevant and protected politically after 2023.

FIFA To Change Qatar 2022 World Cup Kick Off Date

The world football governing body, FIFA, is set to change the commencement date of the Qatar 2022 World Cup.

The 2022 World Cup was originally scheduled to start on Monday, November 21 with Senegal playing the Netherlands in the curtain raiser of the tournament.

Hosts Qatar were also scheduled to play Ecuador that same day after the Three Lions of England face Iran.

However, FIFA has now made plans to reschedule Qatar’s game to Sunday, November 20 (4 pm GMT).

The change in schedule will not affect England’s game with Iran which will still take place the next day at 1pm GMT as previously announced.

But Senegal’s game against the Netherlands will now be played at 4 pm GMT on Monday when Qatar was originally supposed to play Ecuador.

FIFA wrote a letter to the Bureau of FIFA Council to effect the change.

“It has been a long-standing tradition of the World Cup to mark the start of the FIFA World Cup with an opening ceremony on the occasion of the first match featuring either the hosts or the defending champions, a factor that is considered to have significant value from a ceremonial, cultural and a commercial point of view.

“The FIFA administration has assessed the commercial and legal implications of the proposal- including the impact on the contractual commitments across media rights, sponsorship, and ticketing and hospitality- as well as the impact on traveling fans and, has determined that any risk is sufficiently outweighed by the value and benefits of the proposals.”

Qatar had refused to play in the opening game of the tournament at first, which was supposed to be at 1 pm local time on Monday, November 21.

The reason for the initial turning down of the first game is said to be because the country’s leader Emir Tamim bin Hamad wanted to have a fireworks display to celebrate Qatar’s first appearance at the FIFA World Cup.

He believed that the display could be affected if Qatar played in the day rather than in the evening.

However, the Qatar national team seems to have rescinded its decision.

Qatar is in Group A alongside Senegal, Netherlands, and Ecuador.
