I Feel Sorry For The Fans –Ten Hag Speaks After 4 - 0 Defeat Against Brentford

Manchester United manager, Erik Ten Hag has told his players to buckle up for the challenges ahead and stop feeling sorry for their woeful display or for him.

He made this known following the team’s humiliating 4-0 defeat at Brentford on Saturday.

The result leaves the Red Devils bottom of the Premier League after two games.

The Dutchman attempted to make his mark in the wake of the Brentford defeat by cancelling the squad’s planned day off on Sunday and dragging them in for extra training.

“The team has to take the responsibility. I feel sorry for the fans.

“I asked them to play with belief and take responsibility, that is what they didn’t do”, Ten Hag told Sky Sports.

West Using Ukrainians As Cannon Fodder – Putin

The West is using the people of Ukraine as cannon fodder to maintain its hegemony, Russian President Vladimir Putin said in a video address to the 10th Moscow Conference on International Security on Tuesday.

“They (Western countries – TASS) need conflicts to maintain their hegemony. This is why they have been using the people of Ukraine as cannon fodder while running the anti-Russia project; they have closed their eyes to the use of neo-Nazism ideology and mass killings of civilians in Donbass and they have been supplying weapons, including heavy ones, to the Kiev regime,” the Russian leader said.

The decision to launch a special military operation in Ukraine that fully complies with the UN Charter was made in these circumstances. “This operation has clear goals – to ensure the security of Russia and Russian people and to save citizens of Donbass from a genocide,” the Russian leader emphasized.

“The developments in Ukraine show that the United States has been seeking to prolong the conflict,” Putin added. He said Washington was using the same practices to ignite conflicts in Asia, Africa and Latin America.

The US adventure with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s trip to Taiwan is a carefully planned provocation, Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Tuesday in his address to the participants and guests of the 10th Moscow Conference on International Security.

“As you know, the US has recently once again deliberately tried to add fuel to the fire and rock the situation in the Asia-Pacific region. The American adventure concerning Taiwan is not just a trip by a single irresponsible politician, but part of a deliberate, conscious US strategy to destabilize and deteriorate the situation in the region and the world; a brazen display of disrespect for the sovereignty of other countries and for its international obligations. We see this as a carefully planned provocation,” he said.

“It is obvious that with such actions Western globalist elites, among other things, are trying to divert the attention of their own citizens from acute social and economic problems: falling living standards, unemployment, poverty, de-industrialization; to shift their own failures to other countries: to Russia, to China, which are defending their point of view, building sovereign development policies, not obeying the dictates of supranational elites,” Putin pointed out.

Situation around Taiwan

Tensions in the Taiwan Strait area escalated sharply after Pelosi’s trip to Taipei on August 2 to 3. The Chinese Armed Forces retaliated by conducting large-scale military drills with missile firing in six water areas around the island.

Taiwan has been governed by its own administration since 1949, when the remnants of the Kuomintang forces led by Chiang Kai-shek (1887-1975) fled there after their defeat in the Chinese Civil War. Since then it retains the flag and some other attributes of the former Republic of China, which existed on the mainland before the Communists came to power. According to China’s official position, supported by most countries, including Russia, the island is one of the Chinese provinces.

The collective West is purposefully destroying the European security system, Russian President Vladimir Putin said in his address to participants and guests of the Moscow Conference on International Security.

“The so-called collective West is purposefully destroying the European security system, putting together more and more new military alliances,” Putin said.

“The US and its vassal states grossly interfere in the internal affairs of sovereign states through organizing provocations, coups, and civil wars. They use threats, extortion, and pressure to force independent governments to obey their will and follow rules that are foreign to them,” he added.

Putin stressed, “All this is being done with one goal – to maintain its dominance, the model that allows to feed off the entire world, as it was centuries before, and this model can be maintained only by force.”

He drew the attention of the conference participants to the fact that the NATO bloc is moving to the East, bolstering its military infrastructure, including the deployment of missile defense systems and increasing offensive forces’ attack capabilities. “On paper, this is hypocritically declared as a need to boost European security, but in reality, the exact opposite is happening. At the same time, Russia’s proposals from December last year were simply ignored once more,” Putin concluded.

Iranian Adviser Suggests Nuclear Deal Is ‘Closer’ Than Ever As Tehran Responds To EU Proposal

Iran has sent its response to a European Union proposal to revive the 2015 nuclear deal, state news agency IRNA reported, as the country’s chief adviser to negotiations tweeted that an agreement was closer than ever, but not yet done.

IRNA reported that Iran returned the draft Vienna Agreement to the EU Tuesday, but the agency didn’t publish Iran’s response. لعبة بوكر
On Twitter, Iran’s negotiating team adviser Mohammad Marandi said Iran had “expressed its concerns” about the draft, but the “remaining issues are not very difficult to resolve.”
“Those concerns are founded upon past US/EU violations. I can’t say that there will be a deal, but we’re closer than we’ve been before,” Marandi wrote.

Iran has said any final deal should protect the rights of the country and guarantee the lifting of sanctions, which could free up tens of billions of dollars in oil and gas revenue and boost Iran’s struggling economy.
Citing the position of the Iranian negotiating team, IRNA reported Tuesday that differences remain on three issues.
In two of those issues, the US had “expressed its verbal flexibility,” IRNA reported.
The third issue relates to parties “guaranteeing the continuation” of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPA), according to IRNA. And that “depends on the realism of the United States to secure Iran’s opinion,” IRNA reported, citing the negotiating team.
The issues were discussed in detail on Monday during a special meeting of the National Security Council, IRNA reported.
The European Union has not officially acknowledged that it has received Iran’s response.
Earlier on Monday, Iran’s Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said if the US showed a realistic and flexible reaction to Iran’s offer, they “would be at the point of agreement.”
Amir-Abdollahian said Tehran was ready to reach a conclusion through a foreign ministerial meeting and announce the final agreement if its views were accepted. “The upcoming days are important days,” he said.
Last week, a State Department spokesperson told CNN that the US was “ready to quickly conclude a deal on the basis of the EU’s proposals.”

N17.158bn Probe: NSITF Reacts To Outrage Over Termites’ Destruction Of Vouchers

0

The Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF) has said the 2018 report by the Auditor-General of the Federation has nothing to do with the current management.

General Manager, Corporate Affairs, Ijeoma Okoronkwo reacted to the anger over the destruction of proof of N17.158billion expenditure.

A Senate committee chaired by Senator Mathew Urhoghide (PDP Edo South) had questioned the current and past leadership over monies transferred between January and December 2013.

The incumbent NSITF managing director, Michael Akabogu told the lawmakers that the vouchers could not be produced.

He explained that the container they were kept by the past management “has not only been beaten by rains over the years but even possibly being eaten up by termites.

“I told the past management officers the need for them to help us out in answering this query with necessary documents which have not been made available for us.”

NSITF MD from 2010 to 2016, Umar Munir Abubakar said he could not provide answers as the audit was not carried out during his tenure.

His successor Adebayo Somefun (May 2017 to July 2020) said those in the account section should be able to trace the documents.

In a statement, Okoronkwo informed the public that the funds under investigation are cumulative financial violations between 2012 and 2017 .

“These infractions are not new. They have in fact been the subject of probes since the Office of the Auditor General of the Federation first raised the red flag in 2015.

“The negative trails of these breaches have nothing to do with the present management beyond assisting the Senate Committee to carry out its oversight functions,” he said.

Okoronkwo said the EFCC took the former NSITF board chairman and five other senior officials, including the Managing Director and three Directors, to court over some of the issues.

The spokesperson added that huge sums of money, as well as property had been recovered, while indicted staff members were sacked.

Okoronkwo said after the Senate initiated the current probe, Akabogu set up an internal committee to retrieve transactions’ details in First Bank and Skye Bank.

The official said the documents were submitted to the Senate and when they called for the vouchers showing the transactions, Akabogu requested that the former MD be invited to provide further answers.

The NSITF statement reiterated that the current management was not in possession of the vouchers.

Government Officials Sabotaging Negotiations - ASUU President

President of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, Prof. Emmanuel Osodeke has said that the government has the capacity to meet the union’s demands but lacks the will to do so.

According to him, the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government is not being sincere with the lecturers and Nigerians in the negotiations to end the over 5 months strike.

He reminded government officials that the money being talked about does not belong to the President nor politicians but Nigerians, insisting that every Nigerian child has the right to education.

“It’s very sad. You see, if you have a will, you can get whatever you want. Thirty years ago, nobody believed a television station could run for 24 hours, nobody believed you could pick up a phone in Nigeria and call someone in the US. These were done by the academics,” he said on Channels Television on Monday evening.

The Union is expected to have another meeting with the Federal Government today, Tuesday and Prof. Osodeke pointed out that government officials have not been taking meetings with ASUU seriously despite the President’s directives.

“On the issue of financing, if you have a will and you believe that education is important, the government will raise any amount,” he continued.

“This is the same government that has given $400b into Trader Money and that is more than what we’re asking for. This is the government that while we are on strike has released 200 billion to feed School children. I don’t know who’s being fed. I’ve not seen it. But they released 200 billion and that’s more than what we are asking for the revitalization fund.

“[The government] is not sincere… the money is definitely there but the government isn’t willing. We only had an informal interface with the minister of education.

“There was nothing formal but what we are expecting tomorrow [today] is formal …this money we are talking about is Nigerians’ money. It’s not the President’s money. It’s not the Senators’ money and every Nigerian child has rights to education.”
