Why Falconets Overstayed At Istanbul Airport — NFF

The Nigeria Football Federation on Wednesday explained that a number of factors, including the inability to secure transit visas for players and officials of the U20 Girls National Team, Falconets, at the Istanbul Airport, led to the team having to stay 24 hours at the airport in Turkey on their way from the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup.

The Nigerian U20 ladies were pictured sleeping on the floor and chairs of the Istanbul airport after journeying from Costa Rica following their elimination from the U20 Women’s World Cup, and were stranded in Turkey. استراتيجية الروليت

NANS Fumes Over Ramadan School Closure, Threatens Protest

The National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, South-West Zone, has cleared one of its executive members, Opeoluwa Awoyinfa, of rape allegations that went viral on social media.

ABN TV reported, on August 10, that the student body suspended Awoyinfa, following the controversy of alleged sexual assault involving him and a female student of the Federal University of Technology, Akure, Ondo State, and set up a committee to probe into the allegations.

In a statement made available to ABN TV, Wednesday, signed by the Coordinator of the zone, Adegboye Emmanuel, the student body revealed that the Association had reinstated Awoyinfa as its Public Relations Officer, having been cleared of the allegation in the report tendered by the five-man committee.

The PUNCH reported that the lady in question also debunked the issue of rape, saying she only had some issues with Awoyinfa, who was her boyfriend, and that the issue was being resolved.

“After a careful analysis of the report that was submitted to the leadership of the zone by the committee that was set up to look into the allegation of rape and attempt to blackmail raised against Awoyinfa Opeoluwa (the PRO of the zone as he then was), we have come to realise that the allegations were nothing but a result of the widest imagination of the writer which in turn had a negative effect on both Awoyinfa, the said lady in question, the Nigerian Police Force and NANS as a body.

“In the report, it was gathered that all that transpired between the duo was a disagreement that had to be put to rest before eventually going their separate ways. It was also learnt that the writer and his accomplice after their arrest by the police in Akure had since apologised to the duo via the same platform the misleading news was conveyed to the public (Twitter) and a space was held to clarify issues and to also recount all he wrote against the duo,” NANS said.

“It is based on the foregoing that the leadership of the zone, hereby, lift the suspension that was placed on Awoyinfa as the PRO of the zone.

“For the record, the suspension was borne out of the need to lead by example and to showcase the non-tolerance of the association to rape and every social vice. As an Association, we believe that suspending him would make the committee discharge their duties efficiently without any interference, fear or favour.

“Conclusively, we reiterate our zero-tolerance to rape and Gender-Based Violence in society. We also warn purveyors of fake news to do away from it and to verify every source of information thoroughly,” the statement added.

Insecurity: I Can Drive From Abuja To Kaduna Without Security Details — Keyamo

Keyamo: Gov. Otti Will Return To APC Like The Prodigal Son
Festus-Keyamo

Festus Keyamo, Minister of State for Labour, says he can drive from Abuja to Kaduna without security escorts.

Keyamo, who is also the spokesperson of the presidential campaign of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC), said this in an interview on Channels TV.

Quizzed if he could drive despite the security challenges, the minister of state for labour and employment said: “Some people do, I can do it. I can do it. I saw headlines last week saying that I said insecurity has been brought to an all-time low by Buhari. I didn’t say so. It’s still the season of wrong headlines. I said what we met on the ground, Boko Haram in the north-east. I was specific and so they quoted me generally to say Boko Haram and insecurity throughout the whole country. I only said Boko Haram in the north-east, it has not been totally wiped out, but we have reduced this significantly.

“All the roads that lead to Chibok and Damboa in Borno, they are now passable. The issue of the farmer-herder crisis came to a height between 2017 and 2020. The World Terrorism Index said so. Not me. The body also said the attacks reduced so much in 2021. And further reduced again now in 2022. So, it’s a downward spiral in terms of the farmer-herder crisis.

“In terms of banditry and kidnapping, they are on the rise in the north-west and some parts of the middlebelt. I have admitted that.”

Over the years, the 155km Abuja-Kaduna highway has had a long history of insecurity with incessant robbery and kidnapping by bandits on the highway.

We Have Enough Doctors In Nigeria, Says Health Minister

We Have Enough Doctors In Nigeria, Says Health Minister
Health Minister, Ehanire

Dr. Osagie Ehanire, the Minister of Health has disclosed that there are enough medical doctors in the country, and the Federal Government is working toward replacing any medical doctor who resigns and leaves the country.

The assertion was made on Tuesday by Ehanire in Abuja during a media conference.

He also said there was no embargo on the employment of doctors and other health personnel in the country.

“There is no embargo on employing doctors; where there is a need, we do. But, because there is a Civil Service regulation, there are processes before doctors are employed.

“We have heard complaints of doctors who are now leaving the system but there are actually enough doctors in the system because we are producing up to 2,000 or 3,000 doctors every year in the country, and the number leaving is less than 1,000.

“It is just that the employment process needs to be smoothened,” he said.

The minister explained that the ministry was working with the Office of the Head of the Civil Service to use the ‘One-for-One’ employment strategy so that if one doctor or nurse resigns to go abroad, another one is employed.

“So, if we have one replacement then you are not likely to have a shortage.

“But that has been worked out because the Head of Service had the experience that in the past when one person goes, they use the opportunity to take three and those others may not even be people who are required.

“We want to use this policy so that we can reduce shortages and have our personnel back in our hospitals,” he said.

Dr. Deborah Bitrus-Oghoghorie of the Department of Hospital Services said the issue of the two weeks ultimatum given by the National Association of Resident Doctors for the Federal Government to meet the demands of the association or risk an industrial action was being looked into.

According to her, they are mainly financial issues, which the ministry could not solve on its own.

“The issue we have with the resident doctors are mainly financial issues and because of that, we at the ministry of health cannot handle it alone.

“So, what we are doing now is to facilitate resolving the issue with the Ministry of Finance, Budget and National Planning and the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission (NSIWC).

“We want to assure you that the ministry of health, especially the department of hospital services, is working very hard to ensure that industrial action is averted,” she added.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that on Aug. 20, the resident doctors had given the Federal Government another two weeks’ notice within which to implement the payment of the new hazard allowance and arrears stipulated as of Dec. 22, 2021.

The two weeks, which took effect on Monday, will elapse on September 4.

The said hazard allowance is contained in the circular issued by the NSIWC dated Dec. 22, 2021, with reference number SWC/S/04/S.218/11/406.

Some of the other demands of the association include the urgent implementation and commencement of payment of the 2022 Medical Residency Training Funds in full to its members using the old template.

Also, the shortfalls using the newly reviewed template be computed and incorporated/factored into the 2023 budget and paid in arrears.

NNPC Makes N2.38trn In Six Months, Remits Zero Naira To Govt Account

Subsidy: Petrol Price Will Come Down, says NNPC Boss, Mele Kyari

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited has reported that no money has been deposited into the account of the Nigerian government in the past six months, despite the fact that many oil-producing nations around the world are making large profits.

Even though oil prices have recently traded at their highest level in years, this is still the case.

According to NNPC, all N2.38 trillion in revenue from oil sales was invested in projects as it came in. بلاك جاك 21

NNPC provided this information in its presentation to the FAAC, which was released on Tuesday.

The projects included national domestic gas development, cost recovery/cash call, oil search (Frontier Exploration Services), refinery repairs, pipeline security & maintenance costs, and cost recovery.

Others are Nigeria Morocco Pipeline, Renewable Energy Development (RED), Pre-Export Financing, Gas Infrastructure Development, and Crude Oil Pre-Export Inspection Agency Expenses (NESS FEES).

NNPC, in its explanation to the committee, noted that of the total gross revenue, N1. 888 عربي 59 trillion was spent on fuel subsidy.

It stated that the subsidy payments rose from N210 billion in January 2022 to N319 billion in June 2022.

While the next big spending was on cost recovery/cash call tagged T1/T2 for the six-month period, which stood at N658.97 billion.

Other expenses included Pipeline securities, N12.42 billion, and Oil search, N14.32 billion.

The lack of remittance by NNPC to government accounts has left many states who rely heavily on federal allocation scrambling to survive.

Oil revenue is significant in the three tiers of government share on monthly basis.

As NNPC struggles, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates national oil companies have reported bumper profits.

In the United Arab Emirates, the state-owned oil company, Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) reported that its net profit for the first half jumped by 34 percent to 9 million, while revenue increased 13 percent to . casino888 27 billion compared to the same period last year.

“Excellent half-year results and successful strategic execution are testaments to the vital role that the company is playing in enabling significant production capacity growth for ADNOC as well as the UAE’s objective to achieve gas self-sufficiency,” Sultan Al Jaber, ADNOC’s managing director, said.

While Saudi oil giant Aramco says its second-quarter net income surged to $48.4 billion, up from $25.5 billion a year earlier.
