Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El Rufai has sacked over 90 of his political appointees.

El-Rufai said his administration will reduce the size of civil servants in the state but maintained that government appointees will go first.

The Governor stated this at a media chat with journalists in Kaduna on Thursday night, explaining that the disengaged political appointees constitute 30% of political officeholders.

‘’So far, 99 political appointees have lost their jobs but we have not commenced rightsizing civil servants,” the governor said.

“We want to be fair with regards to civil servants. We had earlier promised that before we reduce the size of the civil service, we will start with political appointees and we have done that.”

Speaking in Hausa, El-Rufai said the rightsizing of civil servants will still go on as planned because of dwindling revenues that is accruing to the state government from the federation account.

He said the rightsizing started with political appointees because their details are clearly known, making it more straightforward to disengage them.

‘’However, civil servants with question marks on the veracity of their data have to be given a chance to clear the doubts before any action is taken on them,’’ he clarified

“You have to have that self-belief, that level of arrogance where we are more than suited to play on this stage and we’ve proved that on our journey to get here. We’ve had it tough. It’s not been easy.

“We need to enjoy the moment and I feel we were unfortunate on Monday, we conceded a goal which could not have come at a worse time but we can take positives from Monday which can help us.”

Igboho Talks Tough, Says Those Who Attacked IPOB’s Lawyer’s Home Won’t Be Spared

0

Yoruba activist and Oduduwa republic frontline campaigner, Chief Adeyemo Sunday also known as Sunday Igboho has condemned in strong terms attacks on IPOB’s lawyer, Barrister Ifeanyi Ejiofor warning security agencies to release his arrested assistants who were allegedly taken into custody when Ejiofor’s home was raided in early June.

Sunday Igboho in a press statement made available through his press Secretary, Olayomi Koiki reiterated that any attack on IPOB or the people of the East is an attack on the Yoruba people. We stand shoulder to shoulder with them in this battle, noting that barrister Ejiofor is also a lawyer to the Yoruba activist, Sunday Igboho and Chief Femi Fani-Kayode.

Igboho expressed sadness over the lack of response from Nigerian security agencies on the alleged arrest of the personal assistant to barrister Ejiofor.

He said, “Chief Sunday Igboho has waited for days for a possible reaction from the relevant Security Agencies on the reason for the bloody and violent invasion on the Anambra state country home of Barrister Ifeanyi Ejiofor’s but all to no avail.”

“Those that attacked his home tried to assassinate him and in the process, they allegedly killed his personal assistant and several other people in his home and burnt their bodies to ashes. They did this as Barrister watched the whole episode helplessly from where he hid in his home,” He said.

He noted that on many occasions barrister Ejiofor has stood for the Oduduwa course and their members and today we are standing for him. He is also a friend and lawyer to Fani-Kayode, a respected uncle in the struggle.

He said, “For the records, Barrister Ifeanyi Ejiofor is not only the lawyer to IPOB and Mazi Nnamdi Kanu but also a lawyer to our leader Chief Sunday Adeyemo and our group. He is also a personal lawyer to our dear brother and highly respected Uncle, Chief Femi Fani Kayode, former Minister of Aviation and he is a friend and supporter of the sons and daughters of Oduduwa.”

“On many occasions, he has stood for us and our members and today we are standing for him. We have said it before and we say it again that any attack on IPOB or the people of the East is an attack on us. We stand shoulder to shoulder with them in this battle.” He said.

Igboho warns that further attacks on barrister Ejiofor and his home town would no longer be tolerated and perpetrators will not go scot-free.

He said, “It is on the strength of these hard facts that we wish to warn the relevant Security Agencies that if anything onward happens to Barrister Ejiofor that the consequences will be serious, and no one directly or indirectly connected with this desperate hunt for an innocent life, will go scot-free.”

“We know the individuals who are funding this whole thing and we wish to put it on record that this is the second time they tried to take our lawyer’s life. It must be the last. Such an attempt must never happen to him again,” He said.

“We demand that all Bar Ejiofor’s domestic staff that were allegedly abducted during a bloody attack on his peaceful home be released by the security agencies without further ado,” He said.

Spain captain Sergio Busquets will travel with the squad on Friday for their second Euro 2020 Group E game against Poland after being given the all-clear from Covid-19 following a first positive test.

Busquets has been allowed to rejoin the squad, the Spanish football federation confirmed, after a negative result in his latest PCR test — but he is not expected to play against Poland.

Umahi’s Claim That Igbo Isn’t Marginalized An Attempt To Satisfy His Fulani Benefactors — OYC

0

The apex youth wing of Ohanaeze Ndigbo World Wide Ohanaeze Youth Council(OYC), has reacted to a statement credited to Ebonyi state governor, Engr. Dave Umahi in which he allegedly said that Igbo is not marginalized, describing it as an attempt by the governor to serve a selfish interest.

Insisting that the absence of seaport in Igbo land is a sign of marginalization the national president of OYC, Comrade Igboayaka O. Igboayaka described the governor as a child of opportunity, whose desire is to satisfy the Fulani power brokers for his selfish political interests.

In a release signed by Chukwuemeka Chimerue, the Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to OYC National President, Comrade Igboayaka, he noted that marginalization is an understatement compared to what he called naseauting political cum economic ordeal of Ndigbo in the Nigeria project.

He stressed that Ndigbo have crossed the line of marginalization and entered into political oppression 50 years after the genocide against Ndigbo by the British and Nigeria Governments.

“Gov. Umahi seems to be lacking sense of history about the Igbo political ordeal in Nigeria. It appears the removal of history from the Nigerian education curriculum affected Gov. Umahi even more than the new generation.

“Gov. Umahi either has a poor definition of marginalization or suffering sentimentalism that have eaten deep into his human reasoning on the past and present realities on ground about Ndigbo,” Igboayaka noted.

He added that “the unguided utterances of Gov. Umahi is part of the reason the agitation for self-determination of over 97% of Igbo new generation has gone out of control from the Igbo political elites. Gov. Umahi using the appointment of the Service Chiefs of Maj. Gen. Irabor an Igbo origin from Delta to justify that Igbos are not marginalized was quiet very childish, unjust and a pure anti-Igbo comment.

“Does Gov. Umahi really move around Igbo land to see the level of economic and infrastructural decay in Igbo land? Have Gov. Umahi gone to Oziza River in Afikpo, a potential Seaport neglected and abandoned by the Nigeria Government? Does Umahi know that Oziza River linked to Calabar sea and by extension to the Atlantic Ocean? Does he know that Afikpo and Abakaliki can became a business hub in Igbo land if Oziza river is dredge, and maritime business is commenced there which will lift over five hundred thousand people out of poverty and make over hundred Ebonyi youths gainfully employed?

“Has the governor gone to Azumini Blue River and Obuaku River in Ukwa East of Abia state? A potential Seaport with 25-30 nautical miles to the Atlantic ocean which if dredged and maritime business commenced there, Aba will turn to a rounding point of industrial hub in West Africa.

“Has Gov. Umahi also gone to Ihiala Ulasi River Oseakwa/Oguta Osemotor River that has only 18 nautical miles to Atlantic Ocean, the deepest natural river in Nigeria with over 20 meter deep without dredging? Has Umahi questioned why this project was abandoned since 1957 it was discovered by the Bristish/Nigeria government?

“Has Umahi forgotten that he grew up to see railway in Afikpo, why is none of the railways in Alaigbo functional today? Is Gov. Umahi not aware that the federal government recently awarded and completed modern railway double gauge for the North and South-west, and awarded single gauge that is no longer used in any part of the world to Ndigbo?

“Which dictionary did Gov. Umahi picked the definition of marginalization from?” Igboayaka queried.

“Is Gov. Umahi not aware that the federal government signed a contract of $2.8b gas project to Northern Nigeria yet Alaigbo that produces the gas has no single gas pipeline?

“Who taught Umahi in school, who were his primary and secondary school teachers? Was he not taught with examples, the meaning of marginalization?” Igboayaka further queried

Comrade Igboayaka further warned Umahi to stop opening the wounds, and hitting the untreated wounds of the predicaments and travails of Ndigbo in the failed Nigerian project if he has no intention of proffering credible solution or ideas, stressing that Igbos are not only being marginalized but oppressed and killed by the Nigerian government through its security agents.

Boko Haram: I Feel Safer In Maiduguri Than Abuja – Ali Ndume

Ali Ndume, the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Army, has revealed that he feels safer in Maiduguri than Abuja in spite of the security challenges facing the country.

According to Ndume, Maiduguri, the Borno State capital is peaceful as they don’t hear of any attacks by bandits except people living outside Maiduguri who get attacked by Boko Haram.

Ndume said: “I live in Abuja and also live in Maiduguri, Once I come to Maiduguri, I feel safer than in Abuja because somebody can knock down your door with a gun. In Maiduguri, we don’t hear of that.

“It is outside Maiduguri where the insurgents are marauding around and attacking intermittently. And that is normal with insurgents, that is why they are called insurgents, they do hit and run on soft targets.”

He added, “In every society, you can’t wipe out criminality completely. In America, there is a school shooting. Our own is that we have known terrorists and the army is fighting them.”

You could recall Ndume earlier made the disclosure that weapons from the Nigerian military are whisked away by Boko Haram terrorist which they use to terrorize citizens.

He said: “The insurgents now are desperate in getting arms and ammunition and the arms they use the ones they succeeded in carting away from Nigerian soldiers and other security forces.

“I know that small arms are coming from Libya and Chad but the bulk of equipment they use are the ones they succeeded in stealing from our armed forces”.
