2023: I Can Never Work With Atiku, Tinubu, Peter Obi Because Of Their Past Abysmal Performances – Sowore

The Presidential candidate of the African Action Congress Omoyele Sowore, has stated that he would not work with the presidential candidates of the All Progressives Congress, the Peoples Democratic Party and the Labour Party because the past abysmal performances of the flag bearers.

Sowore stated this in an interview with the African Leadership Group, and monitored by SaharaReporters on Thursday.

According to the AAC candidate, while reacting to a question during the interview, the likes of Bola Tinubu (APC), Atiku Abubakar (PDP), Peter Obi (LP) and Musa Kwankwaso (New Nigeria People’s Party) would not be part of his cabinet because of their shady past administrations.

He said the PDP candidate, for an example, who was the Vice President for eight years, had no tangible achievements for his tenure in office.

Sowore said, “I can’t see myself working with Tinubu in this life; never because I know his issues but we won’t discuss them and I know that he has nothing to offer Nigerians. I can’t work with Atiku because he was the Vice President for eight years; he did nothing; even the things that he could do constitutionally, he did not do them. I can’t work with Kwankwaso a former governor in a failed state.”

Speaking further, Sowore said he could not work with the LP candidate, Peter Obi, because he (Obi) had no legacy to show for his eight years in office as the governor of Anambra State.

Twenty-seven state chairmen of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, have called for the resignation of the National Chairman, Ralph Okey Nwosu.

In what can be described as a mild drama on Wednesday evening at the ADC national secretariat in Abuja, party men called for the resignation of the chairman, claiming his tenure had expired according to the party’s constitution.

The Chairman of the Kogi State chapter of the party, Kingsley Temitope Ogga, while addressing newsmen shortly after the party’s National Executive Council, NEC, meeting in Abuja, said Nwosu has been the party’s Chairman for 17 years and has overstayed his tenure.

Ogga said following the expiration of Nwosu’s tenure in office, a caretaker committee is to be sworn in to pilot the affairs of the party.

His words, “I’m the one that called for a NEC meeting and I told the chairman, he said it was a welcome idea.

“But to my surprise, before 11am, due to some logistics some of our chairmen can’t fly all the way, some are coming from Sokoto. We now said they should give us time, like two hours, which they did.

“By the time we came, they had locked the door, they didn’t want to allow all the chairmen to come in, they only allowed me to come in and when I saw my other chairmen standing outside, I had to go back and ask them to come in.

“When they even allowed us to get in, there were no seats for the Chairmen. They only gave me a seat, I said I cannot sit down when my chairmen are standing. And I looked at the congregation, I saw people who are not even members of the party, thugs.”

When asked what the chairmen demanded, he said, “We are standing by our resolution that there’s no way that the NEC has decided the tenure of the National Working Committee, their tenure has expired and should remain dissolved.

“What we are asking for is that a caretaker committee be put in place and we give them time, within one month, we conduct national convention. The tenure is expiring on the 28th of this month.

“For good 17 years, he has been the National Chairman and constitutionally it’s not right. We don’t want this party to crumble. They rated us as the third force. But now, the way they are handling this party, they are trying to kill it. Go to Kogi State and ask of ADC, we have a sitting House of Reps member, we have been doing well in our federal constituency.”

But reacting to the development, the Chairman of ADC, Chief Ralph Okey Nwosu, said the party cannot afford to host another convention, saying that the focus of the party is the 2023 general elections.

“We’ve held the NEC, the NEC meeting has resolved that because of the election coming, we cannot afford to hold another convention at this time for the interest of the party. We now decided to focus on our campaign, we don’t want any fragmentation. And that the convention will come a year after now. The NEC all seated were in support.

“The NEC constitutes the National Working Committee members, the Zonal chairmen and all the national officers. We had a very cordial meeting. You know we are an emerging party, people are scared of our energy, therefore it’s possible that some people are being sponsored.

“Within the next 48 hours, we will get you intel of how money moved around to disrupt ADC.

“This is a major NEC. Before we did our Presidential primaries, we had almost 12 aspirants running under ADC. By the time we finished, it became a big problem. We had to set up a committee upon the committee to start the process of reconciliation, up till now we are still on it.”

Nwosu boasted that the party would churn out at least 15 governors, 60 percent of National and State assembly members, as well as getting its Presidential candidate, Dumebi Kachikwu to the Villa.

“We want to run our Presidential, state, National and State Assembly elections without any problems, we believe we are headed for the Villa. Whoever is trying to sponsor anything in this party will fail I can assure you.

“I can assure you that we are taking our Presidential candidate to the villa and we would take at least 15 governors in this next election and we will deliver 60 percent of national assembly members and 60 percent of State assembly members.

“No matter the people causing problems in ADC, this is our time and we will have it by the grace of God.”

“No one saw them with guns and many people mistook them for worshippers. Nobody paid attention to them because they hid their guns. However, shortly after they moved inside the mosque, they brought out the rifles and fired some warning shots. They herded the congregants in to bush but some of the worshippers managed to scramble out of the mosque to safety. The muezzin was among those kidnapped but the Imam was able to escape the assault.

“Some those who were outside the mosque were also abducted because unknown to them that some armed men took positions outside. They fired several gunshots into the air and then moved to forest with the captives,” a resident who simply identified himself as Abubakar said.

The Ebonyi State Police Command has arrested a serial rapist, who is notorious for molesting and robbing victims, in Abakaliki, the state capital.

The suspect, a 19-year-old, whose name was given as Miracle Onwe, is a native of Ezzamgbo in the Ohaukwu Local Government Area of the state.

The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Chris Anyanwu, stated this during a briefing at the C Division of the police command, on Friday.

Anyanwu said the suspect was arrested after his latest victim raised the alarm after having had carnal knowledge of her in the farmland.

He said, “On 19/08/2022 at about 1700hrs, Ruth Nwizi, a 22 year old girl was farming at Aboffia village in Ebonyi LGA, Ebonyi State, when suddenly a young man came from the rear and pounced on her.

“The suspect later identified as Miracle Onwe, aged 19, an indigene of Ezzamgbo in Ohaukwu LGA, pushed the said Ruth down and forcefully had carnal knowledge of her without her consent,” Mr Anyawu said.

He further said after the act, the suspect robbed her of her Infinix Smart 5 phone valued at #45,000 and took to his heels.

He added, “When the girl raised the alarm and drew the attention of passers-by who went after him, the suspect dived into a nearby river with the phone.

“The DPO C Division Ekumenyi, SP Mustapha Waheed, on getting the information, swung into action with his detectives, cordoned off the area leading to the arrest of the suspect.

“He confessed to the crime. Both victim and suspect were taken to FETHA for post-exposure prophylaxis and laboratory tests respectively. A medical report duly issued by FETHA confirmed that the girl was actually raped.”

According to him, the suspect will be arraigned for rape and robbery at the appropriate Court in Ebonyi State.

He equally observed that the suspect was in the habit of molesting young girls in the area in the past.

“It is pertinent to mention at this juncture that the suspect had earlier this year attempted to rape a minor whom he forcefully grabbed in the company of two of her mates.

“However, as soon as he stripped the little girl in a bid to defile her, people who were within the vicinity pursued him and he dived into this same river. This has been his modus operandi.”

The suspect confessed to raping the victim and attempting to rape a minor, earlier in the year.

The victim, Miss Ruth, who narrated her ordeal, demanded that justice be done in the matter.

I Masterminded My Husband’s Abduction Because He Denied Me $ex, Money, Akwa Ibom Woman Confesses

Police Rescue Man Locked Up For 20 years In Kaduna

A 40-year-old woman, Mrs Joy Sunday, who was arrested by the Akwa Ibom Police Command for conspiracy over the kidnap of her husband, on Friday, opened up on why she masterminded her partner’s abduction.

She said she involved herself in the act because her husband had starved her of sex and money for too long.

It was gathered that the kidnappers demanded N10m as ransom and later reduced it to N2m which was paid before the police arrested them at the point of sharing the loot.

The suspect, who was among 29 others paraded for various offences including kidnapping, robbery and child theft by the State Commissioner of Police, Olatoye Durosinmi, said she had been subjected to doing all sorts of manual jobs to fend for herself and the children since her husband got married to another woman.

She added that when one of her children finished secondary education, there was no money to send him for further studies.

She said, “I arranged for my husband’s kidnapping because, for a long time, he had abandoned me with his children. Even when my father and mother inlaws were alive he abandoned me. He never cared for his children. I engaged in menial jobs such as weeding on people’s farms to feed my children and pay their school fees.

“One of the children finished from secondary school and I approached my husband to plan how to send the son to learn trade since the father refused to send him to university but my husband shunned me. The major reason i arranged for his kidnapping is that my husband refused to have sex with me and does not take care of me and the children.”

She disclosed that she never collected her share of the money before they were arrested by the police.

“The kidnapper that collected the ransom of N2million never gave my share and I don’t even see the money. It was when the kidnappers were sharing the N2m that the police arrested them and they mentioned me. They never gave me any part of the ransom collected from my husband.

“The kidnap kingpin (now at large) identified as Udo Moji assured me that he would collect the money from my husband for me since my husband attacked me and poured soup on me. So, I agreed with him and he kidnapped my husband. I ran around to gather money to pay the kidnappers. The main suspect, Udo moji ran away.

Narrating his ordeal, the husband of the suspect, Mr. Emmanuel Sampson Ebong, who hailed from Ntak Obio Akpa in Oruk Anam Local Government Area of the state said, “I was kidnapped on July 21, 2022 in my compound.

“I came back from where I went for treatment because I was weak. Around 8.30pm, I saw about six people in my compound. They struggled with me and fired two gunshots into the air, I struggled with them before they took me out of my compound in a minibus and drove away.

He added, “They kept me from that Thursday till Sunday and demanded N10m from me and later reduced it to N2m before the police came that day, If not for God, they would have killed me.

“They took me to Etinan where they kept me. I thank the Nigeria Police for the rescue operations. I also thank my Village Head. I don’t know the reason they kidnapped me, they collected N2m from me. The police later recovered over N500,000 from them.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of police, Olatoye Durosinmi, while parading the suspects vowed that his command would not leave any stone unturned to ensure that residents of the state sleep with their eyes closed.

PDP Suspends Dotun Babayemi Over Anti-Party Activities

Dotun Babayemi, a Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate in Osun State, has been suspended by the party’s Osun State chapter.

Babayemi was suspended in his ward, Ayedaade Local Government, Gbongan’s Otun Balogun Ward 2.

Babayemi is currently fighting for justice in the dispute over who the legitimate party candidate for governor of the state is.

He emerged as the candidate for a parallel governorship primary of PDP, while the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) identified Senator Ademola Adeleke, who emerged as governor-elect, as a candidate of the party.

However, Babayemi was expelled from the PDP for allegedly engaging in anti-party activities.

The Ward Executive members of Otun Balogun 2 made the pronouncement during a press briefing at the state party secretariat in Osogbo on Friday.

Reading the address on behalf of the Ward EXCO, the Secretary of the Ward, Ogunleye Bukayo, said the factional governorship candidate was expelled as a result of a petition filed against him by some party members.

“The Ward Executive Committee of the party at its meeting of 20th July, 2022, received the report of the disciplinary committee, and after careful and extensive deliberations ratified the report of the disciplinary committee.

“The Ward Executive Committee of the Party in exercise of the powers conferred on it by sections 57(2) and 59 (1) (g) of the constitution of PDP hereby remove and expel Prince Dotun Babayemi from the Peoples Democratic Party. He, therefore, ceases to be a member of the PDP henceforth,” Ogunleye said.
