Buhari Asked To Replace NNPC Management With Private Sector Heads

President Buhari Orders NNPC To Fix East-West Road

President Buhari has been urged to sack the management team of the newly-registered Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Limited).

The Conference Of Nigeria Political Parties (CNPP) advised him to replace them with prudent private sector heads to save the country’s economy.

Secretary-General, Willy Ezugwu warned that it would be impossible for Nigeria to continue with the subsidy regime that mainly serves the interest of individuals. كيفية لعب بينجو

CNPP reacted to the claims by NNPC Limited that Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) will cost consumers N462 per litre without the federal government’s subsidy.

A statement by Ezugwu lamented that despite the huge assets available to NNPC, both as a public corporation and now commercial company, Nigeria has never felt a positive impact. موقع 365

It linked the situation to “endemic corruption in the oil industry, especially the high level looting of the treasury through scams like fuel subsidy payments and consistent ineffective turn around maintenance of outdated Nigerian refineries”.

CNPP said maintenance of the four refineries has remained a perpetual conduit pipe deployed by virtually every management team under successive administrations “to siphon the country’s commonwealth.

“Till date, despite several billions of dollars invested in the turn around maintenance of the Nigerian refineries, none of them has ever worked optimally.

“Rather than pursue the construction of new refineries, the NNPC management will conveniently opt for endless renovation of the old refineries for personal economic gains. لعبة 21

Ezugwu wondered why the NNPC has continued on the same path of another turn around maintenance projects at moribund refineries rather than building new ones.

The scribe said the only visible reason for the insistence on revamping the old refineries is that it allows “unfettered access to the country’s national treasury for personal corrupt enrichment”.

The statement warned that the nation cannot afford to continue to maintain old refineries and endure “the endless looting by NNPC officials in the name of fuel subsidy”,

Nigeria is unarguably the only oil producing country not benefiting from the current high prices of crude oil in the international market, it noted.

Insisting that private sector chiefs should be appointed to handle the NNPC, the CNPP added that “No sane person does a thing in the same way and expects a different result”.

Boris Johnson and Liz Truss

Boris Johnson on Tuesday promised unswerving support for his successor Liz Truss, as he left Downing Street for the final time as British prime minister to tender his resignation.

Johnson, whose tenure was dominated by Brexit and COVID-19, and cut short by scandal, bid farewell to cheers and applause from supporters before heading for an audience with Queen Elizabeth II.

In a typical rhetorical flourish, he likened himself to “one of those booster rockets that has fulfilled its function,” and would splash down “in a remote and obscure corner of the Pacific”.

But he promised, “I will be supporting Liz Truss and the new government every step of the way.”

He urged his ruling Conservative party to put aside their differences to tackle the energy crisis that looks set to dominate Truss’s immediate future.

“If Dilyn (his dog) and Larry (the Downing Street cat) can put behind them their occasional difficulties then so can the Conservative party,” he added.

Normally the handover of power in Britain is a swift affair, with the outgoing and incoming leaders making a short trip to Buckingham Palace in central London in quick succession.

But both Johnson and Truss face a 1,000-mile (1,600-kilometre) round trip to the head of state’s remote Balmoral retreat in the Scottish Highlands.

The queen opted not to return from her annual summer break for the brief ceremonial audience, after persistent health issues that have affected her ability to walk and stand.

Johnson is due to arrive at 11:20 am (1020 GMT) at Balmoral, with Truss expected at 12:10 pm, royal officials said.

At the meeting, which should last about 30 minutes, she will ask Truss, as the leader of the largest party in parliament, to form a government.

Truss, 47, was announced winner of an internal vote of Conservative party members on Monday, after a gruelling contest that began in July.

UCL: Beware Of Liverpool – Cannavaro Warns Napoli

Italy World Cup winner Fabio Cannavaro has warned Napoli to put Liverpool into checks due to their goal scoring threats in Wednesday’s Champions League clash.

The two sides renew hostilities at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona prior to also meeting Ajax and Rangers in Group A, and the Partenopei have enjoyed a far better opening to their league season.

However, in a chat with Il Mattino, Cannavaro warned Napoli that the Reds are ruthless and cynical in front of goal.

“What a great night of football that awaits me. The Reds are ruthless, they are cynical, they live on the mistakes that their opponents make on the trocar, they press and push you to make mistakes. And as soon as it happens they punish you.

“The antennas must be raised to the maximum. It is a fundamental job what the various (Slaven) Lobotka, (Andre-Franck) Anguissa, (Piotr) Zielinski will have to do: because Liverpool hardly forgives you because they live on this.”

Fury Offers Joshua ‘Battle Of Britain’ Heavyweight Fight

Fury Offers Joshua ‘Battle Of Britain’ Heavyweight Fight

Tyson Fury has offered Anthony Joshua the chance to fight for his WBC crown before the end of the year in a blockbuster British heavyweight title fight.

Fury suggested he was retiring from boxing after beating Dillian Whyte in April but is now searching for a high-profile opponent after rival champion Oleksandr Usyk said he does not intend to fight again until 2023.

Joshua suffered a second consecutive defeat to the Ukrainian in Saudi Arabia last month and his promoter, Eddie Hearn, is considering options for a return to the ring for the 32-year-old.

The unbeaten Fury announced he was retiring on his 34th birthday last month, having previously performed a number of U-turns over his future in the sport.

In a video posted on social media on Monday, he appeared to confirm he had reversed his decision again.

“You’ve all heard that I’m going to be fighting within the next few months, and before I announce an opponent I need to do this just in case,” said Fury.

“Anthony Joshua, I know you’ve just lost a fight to Usyk, and I know you’re belt-less at the moment, and I’d like to give you an opportunity to fight me for the WBC heavyweight championship of the world and the lineal championship in the next few months.

“You’re coming off a 12-round fight so you match fit, you’re ready, I’m giving you a few months’ notice.

“If you’re interested I’ll send you the date over and we can rumble — a battle of Britain for the WBC heavyweight championship of the world. Let me know if you’re interested. If not, I will select another opponent.”

Joshua responded on Twitter by telling Fury to contact his management team.

“I don’t do the online discussions just for clout,” wrote Joshua, before adding: “I’ll be ready in December.”

Former champion Joshua fell to 24-3 with his latest defeat to Usyk but a clash with Fury would ignite huge interest in Britain.

Usyk, who retained his WBO, IBF, and WBA titles against Joshua, said on Friday he hoped to set up a unification bout against Fury next year.

ASUU Strike: NANS Calls On President Buhari For Urgent Intervention

NANS Urge FG To Ensure Exam Bodies Perform Statutory Duties Without Disruption

The National Association of Nigerian Students has called on President Buhari to intervene in the lingering strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities to enable students to return to school.

The newly elected President of NANS, Mr Usman Barambu, made the call at a news conference on Monday in Abuja.

Barambu described as worrisome the lingering dispute between ASUU and the Federal Government which had lasted for about seven months.

He noted that the incessant strikes had affected the academic calendar of public owned universities.

“Also, it has negatively impacted on the future of Nigerian students, as a programme of four years now would last for six years,” he added.

Similarly, the chairman, Communiqué Drafting Committee, Mr Usman Ayuba, urged Buhari to bring on board capable hands with experience and capacity to stem the tide of insecurity in the country.

Ayuba also appealed to the government to proffer workable solutions to address incessant clashes between farmers and herders across the country.

He called on the Ministry of Education to give priority attention to the sector in terms of budgetary allocation to meet the UNESCO standard and recommendation of setting aside 26 per cent of annual budget to education by developing countries.

The students also wanted lecturers involved in the business of sex for marks to desist from such nefarious activities, stressing that students would expose anyone found culpable.

IPOB Carpets FG For Not Appointing South East Indigenes As Service Chiefs, Mocks Igbo Spokespersons

Biafra Civil War: IPOB Declares Sit-At-Home May 30

The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has questioned and faulted the non-appointment of officers of Igbo extraction as Service Chiefs.

The pro-Biafra group alleged that the appointment of Igbo officers as image makers of security agencies is to cover up the alleged atrocities they are allegedly committing in the South East states.

IPoB, therefore, mocked the Igbo spokesmen of the respective security outfits that if they are not suitable to be Service Chiefs’ appointments in Nigeria, they should know that they have no jobs in the security architecture of Nigeria, but only a useful tool to ridicule Ndigbo and for the promotion of the agenda of Igbo enemies.

A statement by the group’s Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, said the Government of Nigeria is using Igbo officers as the spokespersons in the security architecture to cover their evil deeds. It is regretted that only Igbo men are considered as propaganda tools for Nigerian Government security agencies.

“Following the incessant crimes and false information always dropped from many security formations in Nigeria, through Igbo men and officers, to launder the image of Nigerian security outfits and its agents, we, the global movement and family of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPoB, under the command and leadership of the great leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, wish to alert the Igbo security officers in Nigeria security agencies to organize themselves, and to let them know that they have no jobs in security architecture of Nigeria, but only a useful tool to ridicule Ndigbo and for the promotion of Caliphate agenda.

“It is so sad that only Igbo men are considered as propaganda tools and lying machines for the Nigeria Government and their security agencies whose agenda is to conquer indigenous people and tribes in Nigeria and forcefully fulanize and Islamize them in Nigeria.

“The three key and major security agencies in Nigeria appointed Igbo men spokesmen. Even at the state levels, they appointed Igbo men or women in respective states as their spokespersons. In the Nigerian Army, it is General Onyema Nwachukwu; Nigeria Police have outgoing ACP Frank Mba as its spokesperson. Mr. Peter Afunanya, an Igbo man is the DSS spokesman. Our question is why Nigerian security agencies appoint Igbo men or females as image makers but refused to appoint them as service or security Chiefs in Abuja?”

The police imagemaker further disclosed that upon obtaining the information, the Divisional Police Officer, Agbado division, Superintendent of Police, Awoniyi Adekunle mobilized his detectives to the area where the said Christiana D’ivoire Iyama and Margaret Ogwu were arrested. كيفية لعبة البوكر

Preliminary investigation according to the police public relations officer revealed that Margaret Ogwu is one of the girls harboured by Christiana D’ivoire who employed the service of a man to impregnate the young lady and collected the child on delivery.

The baby was reportedly sold at the rate of N400,000 to one of Ms D’ivoire’s customers.

Ms. D’ivoire further confessed to the police that, she sold up to three children from different women to different customers.

Reacting to the development, the state Commissioner of Police, Lanre Bankole ordered that the case be transferred to the Criminal Investigation Departments for further investigation and diligent prosecution.

FG Sets New Deadline, Says All Terrorists Will Be Eliminated December 2022

Osun 2026: Aregbesola Shun Group, Individual Alliance
Rauf Aregbesola

The federal government has said that it will eliminate all terrorists by December this year. The Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, said this in Abuja yesterday during a joint security press conference with the Ministers of Defence, Information and Police Affairs as well as the Chief of Defence Staff.

Aregbesola said: “Nigerians have the assurance of all of us that their security is guaranteed. So, we’re here to assure you that you’re safe, that is why we’re here from the instructions of the president that you’re safe and that each day going to December, our safety and security will be better.

“What we face mostly now are clashes of cowardly attacks from those that have been routed in one locality or the other moving to give a false impression that they’re still strong. Our ultimate goal is to eliminate them altogether and restore total peace in every inch of Nigerian soil; that we’re going to do by God’s grace, by December of this year.

“It is sounding tall but takes it home, we’re determined to ensure that every inch of the Nigerian soil is safe. The determination is there and the order has been given.”

He said the current security challenges were exacerbated by the restrictions and deprivations of COVID-19 despite the government’s ameliorative measures.

“But we shall continue to protect the lives and property of Nigerians and foreigners in our midst. We shall continue to work for the peace of the nation and deter elements that constitute threats to the people. We shall bear the full powers of the government to secure every inch of our land. We shall not rest until peace is fully restored in Nigeria,” he assured.

Our worst moments over – Lai Mohammed

The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, said the worst was over as the government had now put the terrorists, bandits and their ilk on the run.

He said the current security challenges facing the country had been very daunting, from terrorism to banditry, kidnapping, separatist violence, crude oil theft, armed robbery, and sundry crimes.

According to him, “It’s undoubtedly the greatest challenge to the peace and security of our great nation since the civil war from 1967 to 1970.

“It is the kind of challenge that would have overwhelmed many nations, but thanks to the purposeful leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari. We can say, I want to repeat that the worst is over and peace and security are gradually returning to the land.

“Please don’t misunderstand or misrepresent this assertion. We may still witness isolated cases of security challenges here and there, but it’ll not be on the scale that we have witnessed in the past.

“Terrorists and bandits and co can run but cannot hide, and this has been demonstrated by the arrest of those who attacked a church in Owo. These criminals can run, but cannot hide, as we’ve seen in the decimation of the cowards who ambushed the Brigade of Guards troops in Abuja.”

He stressed the government was “Not saying the battle is over. No. What we’re saying is that our military and other security agents have been able to contain the daunting security challenges we face and that the worst is indeed over. We have now put the terrorists, bandits and their ilk on the run and we will not relent until they have been crushed.”

Mohammed appealed to all Nigerians to continue to support the security agencies in their onerous task of keeping the country safe.

“We must also realise that security is the business of everyone, hence the tagline ‘if you see something, say something.’ Terrorists or bandits are not spirits. They’re human beings, and some of them reside in our communities. They must all be exposed and crushed for peace to reign.”

Muslim-Muslim Ticket: No Agreement Reached With Tinubu – CAN Insists, Talks Tough

Muslim-Muslim Ticket: No Agreement Reached With Tinubu – CAN Insists, Talks Tough

The Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, has debunked reports of reaching an agreement with the All Progressives Congress, APC, and presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu over the party’s Muslim-Muslim ticket.

CAN said its position against a same-faith presidential ticket can’t be compromised.

Reports had it that CAN changed its position on the same-faith presidential ticket after meeting with Tinubu and his campaign team.

However, CAN described the reports as malicious, false, and should be discountenanced.

The Christian body noted that it respects the rights of politicians and political parties to make decisions that affect their electoral fortunes.

CAN reiterated that it is non-partisan but prepared to collaborate with relevant stakeholders to ensure the country’s unity.

In a statement by CAN’s President, Daniel Okoh, he said: “The attention of the leadership of Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, has been drawn to a media report titled, ‘How Tinubu met, resolved Muslim-Muslim ticket with CAN’, which claimed that the apex Christian body has changed its position regarding the same-faith ticket.

“To say the least, the story is ridiculous, malicious, untrue and should be disregarded in its entirety by all reasonable members of the society.

“For the records, CAN took a position against the same-faith ticket imbroglio under the leadership of Rev. Dr Samson Ayokunle, its immediate past national president, and as a matter of fact, His Eminence Archbishop Daniel Okoh, stands on that same position.”
