Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) invaded the Kaduna residence of arrested terrorists’ negotiator, Tukur Mamu, in the early hours of Thursday.

The operatives came in about 20 vehicles in what a witness described as a commando-styled operation.

“They ransacked the house and carted away documents, phones, and laptops. Those in the house were ordered to sign a document which they did not read before the officers took it back,” the witness said.

ABN TV gathered that after raiding his house, they also went to his office in Kaduna.

Freed victims of the Abuja-Kaduna train attack converged on Mamu’s office before reuniting with their families.

Security sources said Mamu was arrested for his alleged involvement in collecting ransom and taking same to terrorists in exchange for kidnapped victims.

ABN TV had reported how Mamu was arrested at Malam Aminu Kano International Airport in Kano on Wednesday afternoon.

The Kaduna-based published who was first arrested in Egypt was detained for 24 hours before he was flown back to Nigeria.

ABN TV observed that while the Egypt Air aircraft, which conveyed him and his family members, touched down in Kano around 1:55pm, he was immediately picked up.

DSS operatives were stationed at the entrance of the international wing of the airport several minutes before the aircraft landed.

Heavily armed operatives who were also in the company of others dressed in mufti were on guard at the entrance of the arrival section of the international wing of the airport where three vehicles – two Hilux and one hiace- with Kano number plates were parked by the entrance.

As passengers began to file out from the arrival section, one of the Hilux moved forward while the luggage, was presumably of Mamu and his family members. The luggage were loaded in one of the vehicles while the one which picked Mamu zoomed off.

In a statement, DSS Spokesman, Peter Afunanya, confirmed Mamu’s arrest, saying the agency was grilling him over security issues.

“The Department of State Services (DSS) has been inundated with enquires in respect of the arrest or otherwise of Tukur Mamu, the self-acclaimed Kaduna Train hostage negotiator. This is to confirm that Manu, as a person of interest, was intercepted by Nigeria’s foreign partners at Cairo, Egypt on 6th September, 2022 while on his way to Saudi Arabia.

“He has since been returned to the country, today, 7th September, 2022, and taken into the Service’s custody. The act followed a request by Nigeria’s Military, Law Enforcement, and Intelligence Community to their foreign partners to bring back Mamu to the country to answer critical questions on ongoing investigations relating to some security matters in parts of the country. The public may wish to note that the law will appropriately take its course.”

FG Working With Security Agencies To Ensure Safety Says Minister Of Education

The Federal Ministry of Education has said that they are working closely with security agencies to further ensure the safety of schools and children from attack.

The Minister of State for Education, Mr. Goodluck Opiah, disclosed this in Abuja on Thursday at a news conference to commemorate the 2022 Intern

According to him, the 2022 celebration is the third edition with the theme, “Implementing the School Safety Policy as a Tool to Protect Education from Attack: Our Collective Responsibility”.

Opiah said that there was need for stakeholders to protect education from violent situations and armed conflict.

He said that upholding the right to education and its continuity in such emergency situations as enshrined in the Safe School Declaration, which Nigeria ratified on March 20, 2019, was an action to be taken by all.

“The theme was devised by the ministry to create awareness of the existence of the School Safety Policy.

“And also the need for state governments, education institutions and stakeholders, civil society organisations, the military, and the general public to operationalise the guidance therein.

“The School Safety Policy copiously highlights the strategies for emergency preparedness in education institutions, measures for harm reduction, stakeholders to contact for help in case of imminent attack, deterrence of the military from using education.
“Consequently, the ministry will celebrate the event with pre-activities and a grand finale.

Wright Wants Iwobi Back At Arsenal

"He Is Playing With Incredible Consistency" — Lampard Showers Praises On Iwobi
Alex Iwobi

Former Arsenal forward Ian Wright believes the Gunners needs someone like Alex Iwobi at the Emirates.

Iwobi left Arsenal for Everton in 2019 but struggled to justify his £35m transfer fee under Carlo Ancelotti and Rafa Benitez.

The Nigeria international is now a different player under manager Frank Lampard.

The 26-year-old played a key role in the club’s survival last season and has further up his performance this season.

Iwobi’s form in 2022 has impressed Wright, who thinks Gunners needs someone like him at the Emirates.

He told Wrighty’s House podcast: “I’m so pleased with the way it’s going for him.

“I remember Arsenal fans, it’s the same thing they did with (Alex) Oxlade-Chamberlain, they ridiculed him.

“I remember watching him play in midfield early days for Arsenal at West Ham, and you’re seeing something.

“His ball progression and work rate, what Frank has now recognised him and put him there, listen to the Everton fans when he’s doing his work, they are adoring him now. I’m loving the way it’s working out for Iwobi.

“I’m just talking about somebody who’s making a massive difference to what Everton need – the work rate, his ball progression, his passing, everything.

“He’s the pass before the assist, people don’t realise it. Everton fans are now starting to realise that if they get the right players in and around him, he’s going to be a force for them.

“You look at his work rate, it’s unbelievable. It’s the kind of intensity that Mikel wants now and needs now, we need that, we need somebody who can press like that.”
