Deputies from 18 municipal districts in Moscow, St. Petersburg and Kolpino have called for Russian President Vladimir Putin’s resignation, according to a petition with a list of signatures posted on Twitter on Monday.

“We, the municipal deputies of Russia, believe that the actions of its president Vladimir Putin are detrimental to Russia’s and its citizens’ future. We demand Vladimir Putin’s resignation from the post of the President of the Russian Federation,” said the petition posted by Ksenia Thorstrom, a local deputy of the Semenovsky District in Saint Petersburg.

The petition follows Russia’s first regional and municipal elections since the start of the war, which brought a sweeping victory for pro-Kremlin candidates.

“The petition’s text is concise and does not “discredit” anyone. If you are mundep [municipal deputy] and want to join, you are welcome,” Thorstrom said in a Twitter post.

The council of one Moscow district (Lomonosovsky) also demanded Putin’s resignation, saying: “Your views and your model of government are hopelessly outdated and hinder the development of Russia and its human potential.”

Last week, the deputies of the Smolninskoye municipality of St. Petersburg called on the State Duma of the Russian Federation to bring charges of treason against Vladimir Putin. Several of them now face charges for discrediting the Russian army, according to a Twitter post from one of the local officials, Nikita Yuferev.

2023 Election: Enenche Tells Nigerians Factors To Consider When Electing Next President

Ahead of the 2023 general election, a former Coordinator Defence Media Operations, Major-General (rtd) John Enenche, has told Nigerians the factors to consider before electing the next President that would succeed President Muhammadu Buhari.

In an open letter on Monday, Enenche urged Nigerians to look out for a leader who has integrity, competence, sound national economic knowledge, local and international goodwill, zero corruption/criminal records (convicted or not), and good health to withstand the demands of the office of the President.

According to him, the conditions for the office of the President should equally apply to other elective positions at national and state levels. bet365.com

“My love for Nigeria is anchored on the fact that the country invested so much in my professional career development and life,” Eneche said.

“In this regard, factors to consider should be integrity, competence, sound national economic knowledge, local and international goodwill, zero corruption/criminal records (convicted or not), and good health to withstand the demands of the office of the President.

“The conditions for the office of the President should equally apply to other elective positions at national and state levels. This comes by way of a Specified Campaign cutting across ethnic, religious, and cultural backgrounds, which is the Strategic Best Practice for the present situation of Nigeria and should therefore be adopted.

“Thereafter, it would be reviewed and strengthened for sustainability. ماكينات القمار

2023 Election: Same Faith Ticket Has Nothing To Do With Religion – Sheikh Gumi
Sheikh Gumi

A Kaduna-based Islamic cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, says the same faith ticket adopted by the All Progressives Congress (APC) has nothing to do with religion.

Gumi enjoined Nigerians to unite and do away with ethno-religious policies that had no benefit for developing Nigerians.

Speaking with newsmen at his residence in Kaduna on Monday about the 2023 general elections in the country, he observed that it was not right for Bola Ahmed Tinubu to say that it was his turn to become Nigeria’s president.

According to him, it is not proper for Bola Ahmed Tinubu to say it is his turn to rule the country, saying there is no question about whether it is his turn.

Gumi emphasized, “He (Tinubu) is a good administrator, he can do it. The Muslim-Muslim ticket is unnecessary. We all know. All these politicians are looking for votes. The Muslim-Muslim ticket is not about religion.”

Whether it would work or not, he explained that he does not want to prophesy about who wins the presidency among the presidential candidates for there are a lot of hurdles to cross, stressing that all the political parties have hurdles as the Muslim-Muslim ticket is going to be a laboratory test for others to emulate or not.

Speaking on the Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, he advised that the presidential candidate needs to reach out to other segments of Nigerians, believing that he has to be all over every part of the country and not leaving politics to a region.

Your Place May Never Be Guaranteed Again, Conte Warns Son

Tottenham manager, Antonio Conte, has issued a stern warning to Son Heung-min that he may not be guarantee a starting shirt if his form deteriorates again.

In March, Conte insisted he would be “crazy” to leave Son out from his team.

But the emergence of Dejan Kulusevski and Richarlison who arrived from Everton this summer means Conte is no longer solely reliant on Son’s partnership with Harry Kane.

The former Juventus and Chelsea was asked specifically about Son’s place in his team ahead of the game.

“I think when you try to build something important, when you try to build something with ambition and try to be competitive and fight to win, you have to change old habits.

“For this reason all the players have to accept the rotation especially up front, we have four players. For me especially it’s very difficult right now to drop one of these four players, but I have to make the best decision for the team, also for the players.

“You try to make the players happy, but big clubs have a big squad, a deep squad. At this moment we don’t have a big squad, but we have just started to try to follow this path,” Conte said.

Giroud Backs Arsenal For Top-Four Finish

Giroud Backs Arsenal For Top-Four Finish

Former Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud has expressed his believe that this is the year that the Gunners will finally seal a return to the Champions League.

Giroud currently features for Serie A Champions AC Milan, but rose to prominence during a five-and-a-half year spell at the Emirates Stadium.

During his stint at Arsenal Giroud scored 105 goals in 253 games for Arsenal before crossing over to London rivals Chelsea in January 2018.

During his time in north London, Giroud became accustomed to Champions League football. But Arsenal’s powers have waned significantly in the years since the 35-year-old’s departure – so much so that the last time the club actually qualified for Europe’s premier competition, Giroud was still at the club.

But things have improved significantly during Mikel Arteta’s reign and the Spaniard was agonisingly close to securing a return to the Champions League last year.

But an implosion in the final weeks of the campaign opened the door for Tottenham, who pipped their bitter rivals to a top-four finish.

That heartbreak has spurred Arsenal to a dream start to the season this time around. The Gunners are currently top of the Premier League standings after winning five consecutive matches prior to last weekend’s 3-1 defeat against Manchester United.

And Giroud is adamant that Arsenal are now finally in a position to return to Europe’s elite club competition.

“I’ve also been watching my Gooners. I think it’s going to be another interesting year for them,” Giroud told Sky Sports.

When he was specifically pushed on if he believes that Arsenal would clinch a top-four finish this year, Giroud added: “Yes, definitely. I hope so.”

His comments come just a year after he claimed that Arsenal’s reluctance to spend significantly in the transfer market was likely to hinder their chances of reclaiming their spot amongst Europe’s elite – despite the fact they splashed out more than another top-flight side last summer in a bid to overhaul their squad.

When he was asked how long it will be until Arsenal finish in the top four again, Giroud told talkSPORT last October: “Wow, that’s a good question! I think Mikel Arteta has got time to come back in the top four.

“But sometimes the problem is that money plays a huge part in success also. When you see Chelsea after winning the Champions League spend over £80million [£97.5m] on Romelu Lukaku to reinforce the forward line and after spending a lot of millions the year before, I think money plays a huge part. That’s the thing with Arsenal. Maybe they don’t put as much in as their opponents.”

“The Man In Aso Rock, Those Seeking To Succeed Him Tired” – Falana

Human Rights lawyer, Femi Falana has said ‘the man’ in Aso Rock and ‘those’ rooting to succeed him are tired.

He made this assertion while speaking a the Labour Party National Retreat held in Abuja.

He said, “The man in Aso Rock said I am tired and I want to go home. Those who want to take power are also tired. Power lies in the street now.”

Falana, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) noted that Nigerians have lost faith in the current government, adding that it won’t be business as usual during the 2023 elections.

He charged the youths not to cower to intimidation, saying power lies in their votes.

He claimed that the opposition party would want to engage in vote buying, noting that they have weaponized poverty in order to achieve the strategy.

Falana called on Labour Party members not to operate on such terrain, stressing how they have the largest structure in the land in terms of people.

He said, “And what do they want to do? They want to bribe voters because they have weaponized poverty. Therefore, you cannot operate on the same terrain. You have the largest structures in Nigeria. Please go out today to revitalize those structures.

“It is not business as usual in Nigeria again. Time is on our side. Because Nigerians have lost faith. They are now running from pillar to post when they say you have no structure. Tell them the people are the structure. Power is lying on the street,” he said.

As the preparations for the 2023 general elections reach top gear, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, says it will soon complete the ongoing cleaning up of voters’ registers using the Automated Biometric Identification System, ABIS.

This was disclosed in a statement issued by the National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee, Festus Okoye, Esq.

INEC said that it has delisted 1,126,359 (one million, one hundred and twenty-six thousand) out of the 2,523,458 (Two million, five hundred and twenty-three thousand, four hundred and fifty-eight) fresh registrants that registered between 28th June, 2021 and 14th January 2022 because they were found to be invalid.

However, it said the ABIS for the period – from 15th January to 31st July 2022 was almost completed, noting that several ineligible registrants have been detected and invalidated.

“The ABIS for the period – 15th January to 31st July 2022 is almost completed. Several double, multiple and ineligible registrants have also been detected and invalidated. These include entries that fail to meet the Commission’s business rules. The Commission takes this responsibility seriously because a credible register is at the heart of electoral integrity,” it said.

The statement further reassured Nigerians that a thorough process was being undertaken to clean up the registration data, following which Permanent Voters’ Cards (PVCs) for all valid registrants would be ready for collection by the end of November.

Four governors elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are working for the emergence of the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu in the 2023 elections, ABN TV has learnt. افضل موقع العاب اون لاين

It would be recalled that prior to the May 28 national convention, the leadership of the PDP jettisoned the rotation of presidency by throwing the contest open, despite the fact that the main opposition party has in its constitution that presidency would be rotated between the North and South.

This paved the way for the emergence of former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar as the presidential candidate of the party in the 2023 elections. لعب البوكر على الانترنت

Ever since the emergence of Atiku, the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike who came second behind Atiku at the convention, had been having a running battle with the leadership of the party.

Wike, who was bitter, blamed his loss on religion, betrayal by the party leadership, especially, the national chairman, Dr. ربح الاموال Iyorchia Ayu, and the Sokoto State governor, Aminu Tambuwal, whose sudden decision to stand down for Atiku, he claimed, allegedly tilted the presidential primary result against him.

The River State Governor has since been fraternising with Tinubu which also led to the recent London meeting.

Wike, Governors Samuel Ortom (Benue), Seyi Makinde (Oyo), and Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia) – had met in London with Tinubu to consider the possibility of working together.

A reliable source informed DAILY POST (not ABN TV) that four southern governors – two from the South-east, one from the South-west, and one from the South-south are working for Tinubu’s candidacy.

The source who pleaded not to be named said everything is now about personal interest, adding that while one of the governors is seeking re-election, others are seeking soft-landing.

He said: “It’s now about personal interest. Four governors are working for Asiwaju.”
