Interior Minister Rauf Aregbesola told State House correspondents that the Federal Executive Council (FEC) had, on February 9, 2022, approved a list of the 286 foreigners seeking Nigerian citizenship.

“You have pledged your allegiance to Nigeria. When you give your love and loyalty to Nigeria, she returns her love and loyalty to you,” the President told the news citizens.

Those Crying Over Muslim-Muslim Ticket Dividing Nigeria — Sanwo-Olu

Lagos Govt Appeals To Doctors To Suspend 3-Day Warning Strike
Gov. Sanwo-Olu

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has said that the concerns being raised by some Nigerians over the Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket of the All Progressives Congress are to cause division among Nigerians.

Defending and justifying the Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket of the APC on Thursday at the 96th Anniversary Lecture of the Yoruba Tennis Club, Sanwo-Olu noted that electing the next president of Nigeria should be about leadership, character, audacity to think and the ability to think deeply and solve problems.

“We had forgotten that in 2011 when Action Congress at that time gave a platform to Malam Nuhu Ribadu and his vice presidential candidate then was Mr Fola Adeola. It was a joint Muslim-Muslim ticket, and we did not see any problem at that time.

“But suddenly, because there is a likelihood of this ticket emerging as a winner, people now want to divide us. We will say no because that is not who we are,” Sanwo-Olu pointed out.

“It is about character. It is about audacity to think. It is about the ability to be able to think deep and solve problems. We do not want to despair other candidates. We all know too well what their antecedents are. We all know too what their credentials are. But we know that as a nation, we need a strong launch pad,” the Lagos governor further stated.

“We need to think out of the box and be able to put our best foot forward,” he added.

The governor also said that Lagos State deserves to produce Nigeria’s next president in 2023 as he expressed strong belief about the former governor of the state, Bola Tinubu, emerging victorious at the polls.

“We deserve the presidency. In Lagos, we deserve it. Lagos requires it, and it would be by the grace of God a bigger, better and stronger nation and state that all of you would be truly proud of to have been part of,” he said.

Sanwo-Olu commended the leadership of the Yoruba Tennis Club for inviting the APC vice presidential candidate Mr Kashim Shettima as the guest speaker.

“We are celebrating 96 years now, and let it be on record that by 2026 during our centenary celebration, by the grace of God, we will have Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu coming here to celebrate as president on our centenary.

“By your grace and your support, I will still remain as your 15th governor, coming here and celebrating in four years’ time, and all of you will be here,” Sanwo-Olu stated.

Both Tinubu and Shettima who are running as APC presidential and vice presidential candidates respectively are Muslims, a situation which has caused disagreement in some quarters including within the APC.

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission on Thursday said the 2021 and 2022 budgets were padded with duplicated projects worth N400bn by ministries, departments and agencies. الربح الحقيقى من الانترنت

It also said N49.9bn was earmarked as salaries for ghost workers in the first half of 2022.

ICPC Chairman, Prof. Bolaji Owasanoye, stated this during an interactive session with the Senate Committee on Finance in preparation for the 2023 budget at the National Assembly, Abuja.

Although he did not name the agencies involved, he said duplicated projects worth N300bn were inserted into the 2021 budget; and N100bn projects in the 2022 budget.

Owasanoye said ICPC’s thorough scrutiny of approved budgets for various MDAs saved the government from wasting billions of naira on fictitious projects.

He said: “N300bn would have been wasted by the federal government on duplicated projects inserted into the 2021 budget and N100bn for same purpose in the current fiscal year if not tracked and intercepted by ICPC. تعليم لعبة البوكر

“The same pre-emptive move saved the country from spending N49.9bn for salaries of ghost workers put on fictitious pay roll by the fraudulent MDAs between January and June this year.

“Names of MDAs involved in project duplications running into intercepted billions of Naira and fictitious pay rolls are available and will be forwarded to the committee . مراهنات كرة القدم

“The good thing about the pre-emptive moves made by us is that monies for the fraudulent acts were prevented from being released to the affected MDAs and it’s gratifying that the Finance Ministry and Accountant General Office cooperated with us,” he said.

He urged the relevant committees of the National Assembly to watch out for such projects duplication in the proposed N19.76trn 2023 budget.

“From our own end, detection of such projects is done by verifying their locations and names, upon which we tell the appropriate authorities not to release wrongly budgeted monies to them,” he added.

The chairman of the committee, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, said the operational cost of the ICPC would be increased from N1.8bn in the coming 2023 budget.

Kanu’s lawyer, Ifeanyi Ejiofor revealed this in a statement following his routine visit to the IPOB leader at the headquarters of the Department of State Services (DSS), Abuja on Thursday.

Recall an appellate court sitting in Abuja, on Tuesday, reserved its judgment on the appeal of the separatist agitator.

Kanu had filed an appeal to quash the terrorism and treasonable felony charges the Federal Government preferred against him.

However, after it had listened to Kanu and FG’s lawyers, the panel said it would communicate a date for the judgment.

Ejiofor said Kanu was briefed on the adjournment, and he was elated by the doggedness of his legal representatives.

“Kanu was elated on the maverick performance and legal prowess demonstrated by his unwearied legal team, eminently led by Chief Mike Ozekome, SAN,” the statement partly read.

“He was enthused by the accounts of the erudite advocacy/submissions of the foremost legal Silk – Chief Ozekhome, SAN during the all-important proceeding.”

Ejiofor further said that Kanu was impressed by his followers’ massive turn-out at the court despite torrential rain on Tuesday.

“He was deeply touched by the sacrifices of UmuChineke, who despite the heavy downpour witnessed in Abuja on that fateful day, still thronged the Court, in a show of uncommon solidarity and support for him. Words are not enough for him to express his gratitude to you all, UmuChineke.

“He remains firm, tenacious, and holding very strongly to his conviction that it will surely end in victory,” the statement added.

He expressed gratitude to the party’s leadership for the opportunity given to him to serve in the state and particularly thanked its national chairman for recognising him.

In a separate statement, the State Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Mohammed Abdullahi said the SWC had accepted Bilal’s resignation, adding that he resigned from the party on personal grounds.

He said Bilal, however, remained a loyal, dedicated and committed stakeholder of the party and would take up a national assignment that would be in the best interest of the party and the state.

“The SWC has substantially accepted his explanation which hinges on expediency of time and the need to meet deadlines.

“The SWC appreciated the various roles played by the former chairman and all the stakeholders in building and promoting the party in the state,’’ he said.
