One of Nigeria’s finest reggae stars, Andy Shurman has lost his wife.

Mrs Theresa khalilah Shurman, passed on on Monday, September 19, 2022, Shurman announced in a post on Facebook.

“With heavy heart and tears in my eyes, I write to notify the general public for the loss of my preciouse jewel, my wife Mrs Theresa khalilah Shurman, a woman with a heart of gold who just passed on to be with the Lord on Monday19th September 2022.

“My Angel we are going to miss you, I am short of words, but is my prayer that GOD, Almighty will accept your soul in paradise, rest in perfect peace amen Adiue,” he wrote.

The Kinky Reggaeman’ Andy Shurman hails from Ndiolumbe Nvosi, Isialangwa South LGA of Abia State.

Andy Shurman is one of Nigeria’s finest reggae stars who dominated the airwaves in the 80s with his debut album, “ Save the Masses” released in 1989 and contained such tracks as “ Kinky Reggaeman”, “Tabefaction”, “Oladi”, Judgment Day”, “Let them Rise”, “My Creator,” “No Train” and Fight Them Back.”

Policemen On Investigation Assignment Kidnapped In Ogun

No fewer than three policemen were said to have been abducted in broad daylight by some unknown gunmen in Ogun State.

It was gathered that the police officers were abducted on Thursday at Wasinmi, in Ewekoro Local Government Area of Ogun State.

The cops were in the State from Zone 2, Onikan, Lagos State, for an investigation.

They were said to have been duly booked at the police division in Wasinmi, before they left for their place of primary assignment.

A reliable source told our correspondent that the officers, led by Inspector Oladipo Olayemi, were captured on the road by their abductors, who accosted them at about 2:30pm.

It was gathered that the commercial driver, who conveyed the cops escaped by a whisker from the kidnappers.

It was further gathered that the Divisional Police Officer in Ewekoro had led his men in searching for the missing policemen.

When contacted, the Ogun State Police spokesman, Abimbola Oyeyemi, confirmed that “people were kidnapped, but only one policeman is involved.“

Oyeyemi told our correspondent that the police is on the trail of the kidnappers, assuring that the victims would be rescued.

“We are on the trail of the kidnappers. Do you think we are going to keep quiet? We will get them and rescue the victims unhurt, saying that men of the anti-kidnapping unit are on the trail of the kidnappers.

Five Online Websites To Get Certification Courses As ASUU Strike Lingers

On February 14th, 2022, The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) went on an indefinite strike which led to the closure of federal universities and a few state universities across Nigeria.

Today makes it 220 days since the strike began.

Rather than stay idle, ABN TV is here to give students affected by the strike a list of online websites where they can get certification courses.

  1. Cousera

Coursera is one of the most popular global online learning platforms offering a wide range of free online courses, degrees, short certificate programs, and even online master’s degrees from world-class universities and companies. Also, there’ll be certificates awarded at the end of the training session.

The e-learning platform offers thousands of free courses and professional certificates.

Topics range from computer science to psychology and courses are led by top colleges and companies. In 2021, it was estimated that about 150 universities offered more than 4,000 courses through Coursera.

Many Coursera courses are free to audit, but students don’t get access to things like graded homework assignments or certificates of completion when they’re auditing a course.

Courses that are part of longer programs or specializations are usually free to try with a seven-day trial.

Presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu late Thursday met with some Christian clerics under the aegis of the Pentecostal Bishops Forum of Northern Nigeria.

He told the clerics that he is better positioned to enhance the fortunes of the country than any of his rivals.

According to him, his choice of a Muslim running mate was beyond religion and other sentiments but based on a conviction for service.

Shedding light on his plans, Tinubu said, “How will Nigeria develop? How do we banish hunger? How do we improve the insecurity and how do we eliminate killing one another, and shedding blood on innocent citizens? That is what we must take to the office and not our religion.

“My intention is clear. Not in religiosity. My intention is to develop this country, to bring prosperity to our country and I have better qualifications, better track record, better exposure, better vision than any of my mates.”

On the choice of his running mate, Tinubu said; “When the shortlisted names came, I looked at the characters on the list, their backgrounds, and everything, and here is somebody (Kashim Shettima) who is so brilliant, so committed, who, during the crisis in Borno protected Christians.”

He then urged Nigerians to shun religious sentiments, saying; “Let us develop intellectual inclusiveness to build an understanding on which way Nigeria.”

In his comment, the Chairman of Pentecostal Bishops Forum of Northern Nigeria, Archbishop John Praise said; “We are not committed to endorsing anybody, but you should ask your conscience and from what you have heard and from the explanations, he (Tinubu) has given to us, to make your own judgment of who will better rule and handle the country.”

A chieftain of the party, Senator Grace Bent from Adamawa State expressed optimism that Tinubu’s victory will usher in a new dawn for the body of Christ in the country.

Western nations have been concealing, and sometimes openly blanking out, the truth about military crimes committed by pro-Kiev forces, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov told Thursday’s Ukraine-themed ministerial session of the UN Security Council.

“Inconvenient truths that contradict Ukraine’s image of a victim of a so-called aggression are being actively hushed up, and in some cases even openly blanked out,” he said.

“Even Amnesty International, a Western human rights organization that can hardly be suspected of being on Russia’s side, was criticized harshly and labeled a Kremlin agent for its report that confirmed the widely known facts about the Kiev government’s tactics of setting up shooting emplacements and deploying heavy weaponry in civilian facilities.”

International rights organization Amnesty International published a report about the conflict in Ukraine on August 4, which, among other things accused the Kiev government of employing fighting tactics that put civilians at risks, including deployment of weapons and military equipment in schools and hospitals. The report stirred a negative reaction of the Ukrainian side. Thus, aide to the presidential office chief Mikhail Podolyak called for a probe to see whether Amnesty International is deriving any “profits” from Russia and head of Amnesty International’s office in Ukraine Oksana Pokalchuk said she was leaving her post. Later on, the organization apologized for its report, saying its only goal was to protect civilians.

Gov Wike Approves N1bn To Support Flood Victims
Governor Nyesom Wike

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has challenged the National Executive Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party to suspend him from the party.

This follows talks from within the party that no one can be bigger than the party, and that he may be suspended.

The governor has remained vocal against some party leaders following calls for the resignation of the National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu.

He recently led some leaders of the party to pull out from the presidential campaign council of the PDP, insisting that Ayu must go.

Speaking during a live media chat in Port Harcourt on Friday, Gov. Wike said, “I beg them today, they shouldn’t waste time. They should call a NEC meeting and say the Governor of Rivers State, you’re hereby suspended from the party.

“Anything you see you take. They know what I will do.

“Nobody has the monopoly of making problems.”

Again, Storey Building Collapses In Lagos (PHOTOS)

A three-storey building has collapsed on Sonuga Street, Palm Avenue, in the Mushin area of Lagos State.

The Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyinyolu, confirmed the development to our correspondent on Friday.

“A building has collapsed on Sonuga Street, at Palm Avenue, in Mushin. Rescue Operation is ongoing. I will keep you posted,” he said.

Giving an update, the Lagos Territorial Head of the National Emergency Management Agency, Mr Ibrahim Farinloye, said two persons had been rescued from the collapsed building.

“An adult and a child have been rescued alive. Search and rescue ongoing,” he added.

Concerning the failing health condition of its leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has issued a serious warning to the Federal Government.

Issuing the warning IPOB said its peaceful approach would never remain the same if anything unexpected happens to Kanu.

IPOB said it had received a disturbing report from its legal team concerning the deteriorating health of Nnamdi Kanu inside the Department of State Services solitary confinement.

This was contained in a statement signed by the Media and Publicity Secretary for IPOB, Comrade Emma Powerful, on Friday.

The group noted that it has remained peaceful even in the face of the most unbearable provocations in the form of abductions, torture, secret disappearances, and extra-judicial murders, in addition to the extraordinary rendition of its Leader from Kenya to Nigeria.

It, however, warned that Kanu’s health was a red line that must not be crossed.

While urging the international community, including the British Prime Minister and her High Commissioner in Abuja, the United States of America President, and the US Embassy in Abuja, Amnesty International, among others, to compel Nigeria to release Nnamdi Kanu unconditionally, it warned that the Nigerian Government should be held responsible in the event of any ugly scenario.

The statement read in part: ”The IPOB leadership received a very disturbing report from our Legal Team about the deteriorating health of the great leader and Prophet Mazi Nnamdi KANU inside DSS solitary confinement. Nigerian Government, through their lawless DSS, has refused Mazi Nnamdi Kanu access to his personal and professional Physician for over a year now in contravention to Court orders. The Nigerian government and the DSS are hereby notified that they are playing with an active Volcano whose eruption will leave a trail of complete destruction should they continue on this ignoble part, and Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s is in any manner impacted negatively.

”Nigeria Government must understand that because IPOB has remained peaceful even in the face of most unbearable provocations in the form of abductions, torture, secret disappearances, extra-judicial murders in addition to the extraordinary rendition of our Great Leader from Kenya to Nigeria since June of last year, 2021, the Nigerian government and its agency of torture called the DSS should very well know that the issue of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s health while in their custody is a RED LINE they must not cross. This peaceful approach will never remain the same if anything untoward happens to him. We are telling you now so that the international community will bear us witness that we warned Nigeria before it and its torture agency the DSS commit an irreparable blunder.

”We are urging the British Prime Minister & her High Commissioner in Abuja, The United States of America President & US Embassy in Abuja, Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch organization, United Nations, African Union, ECOWAS, Israel Prime Minister & Israel Embassy in Abuja, Russia President & Russia Embassy in Abuja, German Chancellor & her Embassy in Abuja to compel Fulani led Government of Nigeria to unconditionally release Mazi Nnamdi KANU the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra or be prepared to repeat their Genocidal war against Biafrans as it was in 1967-1970.

”If Nigeria Government refuses to release the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and should anything wrong happen, this peaceful Biafra struggle will suddenly turn into a bloody revolution, and the Nigeria Government should be held responsible in the event of this scenario.

”Nigeria Government should know that the gentle strides of a lion are not a symbol of timidity”.

Governor Wike Lists Ayu’s Other ‘Sins’

Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers state has revealed that there was nothing that the National Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP Senator Iyorchia Ayu did not do for him not to emerge as the presidential candidate of the party.

Wike made this revelation during an interview with Channels TV today (Friday).

“There’s nothing Ayu did not do for me not to emerge as the PDP candidate. Ayu did everything to manipulate the system to ensure that all the numbers did not add up,” he said.

The PDP held its presidential primaries in May, which produced Abubakar Atiku as the party’s flag bearer for 2023.

Recall that Wike had earlier said he has no reason to leave the PDP, no matter the situations threatening unity of the party ahead of the 2023 general elections.

Wike at a Rivers PDP stakeholders meeting in Port Harcourt Thursday, the first of such since the rancorous presidential primaries and picking of running mate had said he would tell his own side of the story on Friday.

The governor said that he was interested in preserving the sanity of the party and will stay back to fight for the enthronement of unity, inclusivity, equity and peace in the PDP.

Wike said, “I have always told people, if anybody is thinking we will leave PDP, foul. We will fight at the party. We are not like them, when in 2014 they walked out from Eagle Square. They’ve forgotten. They walked out and joined APC. Is it not correct?

“Did they remain to fight inside the party? But we remained, they ran away. Now, there is a fight in the party, we will not run. We will fight it in this party. Those who run away from fight are weak people. We will not. So everybody should know this is the state where we are. So that nobody tells you all kinds of stories.”

The governor noted that the party constitution clearly stating that elective and party offices must be zoned should be respected, wondering why former PDP Board of Trustee (BOT) Chairman would be pressured to resign and while national chairman, Sen Iyorchia Ayu excuses self from doing what is right.
