The Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Murtala Yakubu Ajaka, has asked the Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, and other appointees to campaign openly for the party’s presidential candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu or resign their appointments.

The APC chieftain was reacting to comments made on Channels Television by Ngige, who failed to publicly affirm his choice of presidential candidate between Tinubu and Peter Obi of Labour party (LP).

Recall that the Rivers State governor, Nysome Wike, had alleged that some appointees of the APC-led government were working for the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

Reacting to the comments made by Ngige, in a statement on Saturday, the APC deputy spokesman said what the minister did was “anti-party.”

He said, “It is expected of a serving Minister in an APC government to be a trusted apostle of Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s presidency in 2023, who along other party leaders laboured to ensure the enthroment of the same government in 2015 which they are now serving in.

“Chief Ngige and other APC appointees, especially in the federal cabinet should not forget in a hurry that they are holding onto party’s mandate, hence the need to protect it with whatever it requires, but if they can no longer protect the interest of the APC in public and that of our presidential candidate (Tinubu), I think the honourable thing to do is to step aside from the government formed by the APC.”

The current minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, was asked to choose between the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and the flag bearer of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, during an interview with Channels Television.

In response to the question, he stated that both of them are his friends and are qualified for the presidency, but his vote would be cast in the upcoming election. While raring them based on analysis, he stated that Tinubu became the Governor of Lagos State and built it from the ground up while Peter Obi continued from where he stopped after he became his successor.

According to him, “The two men and their track records are good, but you must go into the nitty-gritty of the analysis. Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu came to Lagos when there was nothing. Everything was scattered. I lived in Lagos, so I can tell you. He did what he was supposed to do and then reformed the financial system and everything to put a solid foundation and draw a road map for successors. “

“I came to Anambra state when everything was scattered just like Lagos. I rebuilt the foundation of governance in that state, but I could not finish. But I did infrastructure and people can see it. Peter Obi was building on my foundation even though he would disagree with me on infrastructure. So during his first tenure, he didn’t do infrastructure.”

According to the APC chieftain, Peter Obi will know when the presidential elections are for the big boys when he gets trounced and come a distant 4th in the presidential race

He said “By the time he gets trounced in the presidential election and comes a distant 4th he will know that this is a game for the big boys.

Again, taking a swipe at Obidients, FFK said the result of the 2023 election will shock the LP candidate supporters such that they will attempt to turn the country “upside down”.

“It is at that time that he and his venomous, ignorant and garrulous supporters will cry blue murder and claim that the election was rigged and attempt to turn the nation upside down, burn everything in sight and riot.
